Edward tried and failed to get Nina to move out of Gotham. Arnold and Scarface were hired by Lex Luthor to kill Nina, but she easily subdued him. Edward, who had been spying on her and assumed the worst, showed up to rescue her and was relieved to see that she didn't need it. They decided to fake Nina's death until Edward could resolve things with Lex Luthor.

Lex and Edward met at the Iceberg Lounge to settle matters after Nina's 'death'. Lex threatened to frame Edward for working with Nina to obtain biochemical weapons, ruining her reputation and greatly increasing the heat on Edward. Edward revealed that he'd already poisoned Lex and offered the antidote as a bargaining chip. Lex proposed trading the antidote and the blackmail Edward had for not carrying out his threat, but Edward wanted reassurance that Lex wouldn't go after him again. Lex essentially promised that he wouldn't if Edward answered one question: Why did he waste his opportunity to blackmail him on Nina? Instead of answering, Edward took the first offer. Lex had the henchman who poisoned him killed.

Edward took Nina home with him so that she could hide there. They cleared the air between them and Nina kissed him, which freaked Edward out. When he recovered he invited her to go see his warehouse, they argued about clothes and then went there. Edward asked if she would use her powers to help him with something but she refused.

Edward found out that Nina went back to her apartment without telling him. They got into an argument about it, which turned into an argument about whether or not she loved him. Believing that she would stop him, he tried to shoot her. She didn't. He managed to save her life and realized that she really did love him. However, when she woke up a week later, though she forgave him she didn't trust him anymore. So they decided it wasn't going to work between them. But that upset Edward so much that he got drunk, came back, and told Nina everything he was up to. She didn't know what to do with that so she told him he should go sleep it off. He regretted it when he woke up, but it encouraged her to try to work things out with him. After much difficulty, they managed to clear the air between them and he joined her in bed.

Though Edward didn't like Nina's new apartment at all, she did and was happily moving in. He informed her that he'd have to skip town soon and hinted that he wanted her to come with him. But when he explained that it had to do with a plan involving Selina staying at his place for a while, she immediately wanted to define the relationship. He dodged the question. Then they got into an argument about how hidden she would need to keep herself going forward, leading to a conversation about how worried they were about each other getting hurt, and Edward realized he wouldn't be able to convince Nina to stay as safe as he wanted. She cheered him up by asking him to help her get a secure cellphone. But then Allen interrupted them, which upset Edward enough to hurt him, which upset Nina, which upset Edward. The resulting argument caused him to leave and caused both of them to decide the other was an idiot.

Having escaped from the FBI, Nina contacted Edward and Shawty for help. They both responded, but that became a problem when Edward decided it was Shawty's fault that Nina was hurt. However, when Nina resorted to throwing herself out of a moving vehicle to stop him from killing her assistant, that proved to be a big enough distraction that Edward decided to tell Shawty he never wanted to see her again instead.

Edward, ready to escape from Gotham with Nina, got Jimmy out of his high school class. Introductions were made as they headed for the fence the FBI had placed on Gotham's border. However, they quickly found Robin on their tail. Edward managed to first disable the youth's motorcycle and then remove him from the roof of the car. By the time Robin caught up to them on foot, they were already at the fence where Edward held Jimmy at gunpoint while Jimmy threatened to shoot Robin - which encouraged the young vigilante to let them go.

Edward and Nina were in China, and Nina confessed to what she had done the evening before they left Gotham. But it didn't bother Edward because it didn't affect his plans and he was in a good mood because his plans were going well. They both noticed that they were alone and not busy and took full advantage of that. Then Edward hacked into the FBI's mainframe to check on what they were doing in Gotham and whether or not they had figured out his plans, showing this to Nina. Nina made dinner and they managed to have a serious conversation about Edward's current plans and his riddles in general without it turning into a fight. Edward then left for a meeting.

Knowing what that meant to him, she told him he was acting like an idiot and left. Jeremiah, having observed their exchange, attempted to talk to Nina but she didn't want to talk to him and was only minimally polite.

Poison Ivy was enjoying a drink in the back room of the Iceberg Lounge when Harley came in, looking upset. Poison Ivy joined her and tried to offer comforting words. Their conversation was observed by Edward, who decided to introduce himself, but even as he joined them the Joker spotted them as well. Upset by overhearing Harley call him ungrateful he stormed over to them, followed by Scourge. But when Edward tried to make himself scarce, he only attracted attention to himself. Oswald stormed into the scene, upset at the Joker for causing a scene, while Harley and Ivy decided to leave while the men were distracted.

Edward arrived at Jonathan's laboratory to warn him about what he was up to with a riddle and also to meet the girl he'd heard Jonathan was keeping there. However, Heather at that moment was more interested in getting more brave toxin from Jonathan than she was in meeting Edward. Despite her protests, Edward convinced Jonathan to talk to him first and gave him the riddle, which upset Jonathan because he recognized it as such. When Edward left, Heather expressed her worries about his visit, prompting Jonathan to give her the brave toxin to calm her down. However, once calmed, she decided to kiss him. Jonathan protested, but that didn't seem to bother her.

Edward was about to go out of the country, so he decided to meet with Jonathan in an alley. Edward asked Jonathan why he was plotting against him, but Jonathan's answer was as cryptic as ever. When Edward tried to get a better answer from him, Jonathan's words instead forced him to recognize what he felt about him. So Edward goaded Jonathan into admitting he felt the same in return out loud. That prompted more than a little kissing, though when it threatened to go further Jonathan couldn't resist triggering Edward's germaphobia in the alley, so Edward invited Jonathan to his place. They could barely keep their hands off each other long enough to get there.

Edward was at Nina's apartment when she arrived home. She was surprised, but willing to talk, and he commented on all the attention she had been getting from other criminals. He then distracted her by kissing her, but just as she realized that something was wrong he literally stabbed her in the back.

Organizing the pieces of the puzzle

Edward was at the lounge, hoping for a meeting with Oswald, but while he was waiting he was accosted by Harley - who had a new collection of sock puppets she was keen to show off. That didn't distract him from noticing that he was being observed by Selina, who he warned to keep out of his business. But Oswald finally arrived so the two men were able to do business. Edward asked Oswald for a piece of kryptonite and, in exchange, Oswald asked Edward to rig an election for him as well as owe him an unspecified favor - which Oswald agreed could be transferred to someone else with his permission.

Job Interview

Edward had an appointment for a job interview with Bruce, hoping to convince him to let him have access to sensitive areas of Wayne Enterprise's computer systems. However, at the start of the appointment, Bruce was otherwise occupied by Selina. But it was not Selina Kyle, who arrived a moment later. After pretending to be very interested in employing Edward, Bruce revealed that he knew that he was the Riddler and insulted him, causing Edward to storm out. Selina followed him into the elevator, where they got into a verbal and physical fight when she tried to tell him that she hadn't betrayed his trust. Which took long enough that Batman was able to override the elevator, sending it into the basement where he wanted it. Edward tossed some gas and explosives outside of it, but he didn't have enough time to hack the elevator before Batman got into the elevator. Edward managed to make the elevator plummet to the bottom, stunning Batman for long enough for Edward to slip out. Though after he secured a change of clothes he was surprised to see Bruce (actually Alfred) outside - far too quickly for it to have been Batman. He 'accidentally' knocked into him to see if he was real. Meanwhile, Batman helped Selina get to the front, slipping away to change himself, and switched places with Alfred. Edward managed to get away, but couldn't resist confirming to Bruce that he knew his identity before he did so.

Edward went to the bar where he knew he would find Jason. Edward said that he could help Jason find Jonathan when Jonathan inevitably escaped from the asylum and that he would do it in exchange for Jason keeping Dick out of his way, in whatever way he wished to do so. Jason agreed but made it clear that he didn't like Edward either.

Edward went to Selina's apartment, bringing chocolates. He asked her on a date to the museum, and she accepted. They stopped for coffee on the way, where Edward questioned her relationship with Nina. Selina reassured him that she was friends with both of them and wouldn't act against him. They kissed and went to the museum, where Selina was delighted by their new security system. But they didn't get far before Edward was recognized by a reporter, then a guard, forcing them to briefly hide in a closet before they ran up the stairs to the roof. Though Edward had planned to go to the roof and had wine waiting, with the police on the way they wouldn't be able to stay. However, Selina was more bothered by Edward mentioning Batman, accusing him of being obsessed with him. Edward accused Selina of being in love with him, which she denied. Edward drugged her and made it look like she'd been kidnapped, leaving her on the roof. Later, when she arrived back home, Edward broke into her apartment and Selina let him seduce her even though she knew what he was really up to.

Edward met with Lex, wanting to inform him of when Wayne Enterprise's stock would be taking a dip so that Lex could take advantage of it by buying much of the company. However, Lex was much more interested in prying into Edward's other recent dealings.

Edward was going through his morning routine at his hotel when Ra's al Ghul's men found him, knocking him unconscious. He woke up tied to a chair in one of his own warehouses, which had been cleared out by Ra's al Ghul. Ra's al Ghul angrily questioned him about his use of a Lazarus pit. But when a punch knocked him to the floor, Edward managed to get a hand on one of his gadgets to fill the room with a poisonous cloud.

Edward invited Jonathan to meet him at his current hotel room, hoping to ask him for a favor, though Jonathan was more interested in other things - possibly because Edward was only wearing a towel when he answered the door. However, before things got too far Edward found himself paralyzed as Nina arrived. She'd been told Edward's location by Jonathan, and she cared far more about giving Edward what she thought he deserved than whatever she'd interrupted. Edward begged for forgiveness, but it fell on deaf ears and she used her power to remove Edward's ability to have sex and speak. Jonathan's end of the deal having been completed, he asked Nina to maintain Edward's paralysis while he took him to his hideout. Their arrival woke up Heather. Jonathan tried to threaten Nina into undoing what she'd done, holding his sickle to Edward's throat and kissing him. But Nina refused and released Edward from his paralysis. Edward immediately grabbed Shawty and indicated a threat toward Nina's mother, but that wouldn't sway Nina either and she went to leave. Meanwhile, Heather was extremely upset when she saw Jonathan kissing Edward but complied with Jonathan's request to flip a lever anyway. Jonathan retreated to a safe place, hinting to Edward that he should join him, and Edward did so. Jonathan injected Edward with a drug that ensured that only Shawty would fall victim to the powerful, fear-inducing magnets and screams while Nina fled. Heather turned it off again and left, even more upset when Jonathan kissed Edward again. Shawty was reduced to a quaking mess, but Edward was not impressed. Edward found that the drug Jonathan had given him actually helped him to speak, but the side effects were too severe for it to be a solution to what Nina did so he used the time to swear revenge against both Jonathan and Nina.

Evil Kara tracked down Edward and took him to a rooftop to talk to him about what he intended to do with the kryptonite he'd recently acquired. When Edward indicated that he intended to act against Superman, she suggested that they team up, and he agreed - asking her to join him as he was planning on visiting Poison Ivy in the asylum the next day.

Harley finished some last-minute touches to the funhouse where she planned to throw a party. Edward arrived first, followed by Cyphus. Edward was not impressed by Cyphus and Harley was not impressed by the book Cyphus gave her, but Cyphus nevertheless managed to convince Harley to help him break some people out of Blackgate.

Edward barged into Vicki's office, infuriated by the article she'd written after interviewing Nina. He insisted that Vicki needed to write a new article with the real facts of the situation, setting off the fire alarm in the building then taking Vicki into the elevator where they could talk privately for some time. Edward explained that stabbing Nina was a strategic move against one of his 'colleagues' and not personal, and he insisted that it wasn't murder because she'd had a way out of it. As he explained, Vicki realized that she found him extremely attractive but was bothered by how cold and calculated his reasoning was.

Selina and Lex took one last look to ensure that the preparations for the gala were complete, and Lex gifted Selina with jewelry to complete her outfit. Then they stood at the doorway to welcome their guests. Babs snuck some champagne and was called out on it by Thorne, but Renee helped her hide from her father. Edward confronted Summer about the papers she'd taken, only to be unsuccessfully interrupted by Vicki and successfully by Roy, who punched Edward in the gut and got escorted out. Charlotte lost Selina in the crowd, avoided Kory, and ran into Harvey. Rooster flirted with Gordon. Rowdy flirted with Zahira. Bivins flirted with Diana. Rooster discussed alcohol with Lex. Oswald introduced Lola to Edward. Piper met Elise. Talia arrived late and greeted Lex and Selina. And finally, the next phase of the gala began.

Edward was robbing a bank, but Summer was there and failed to take his directions as seriously as he would have hoped. Fortunately for her, she amused him, so he took her with him as he broke into the bank vault and ended up making her fall into the money there while he took some files out of a safety deposit box and then gave the diamond necklace that was also in it to her. Summer wanted the files so she attempted to get close enough to take them by kissing him, pretending that she was doing so to thank him for the necklace. It worked, but it was also more intense than either of them was expecting. Edward locked her into the vault and quickly finished robbing the bank, aware that the police were on the way, but failed to notice that the files were missing from his pocket.

Edward had a cassette tape with a recording of what sounded like Gordon taking a bribe delivered to the GCPD. The intern who found it gave it to Harvey, who gave it to Bivins to analyze. Bivins found some slight evidence that it was fake, but not much about who made it. Harvey decided to tell Gordon about it.

Edward stewed before his first therapy session with Jeremiah. When Jeremiah attempted to address Edward's complaints, it only made Edward more dismissive. And when Jeremiah attempted to get into Edward's past, it made Edward violent. Edward stole Jeremiah's phone and quickly used it to hack into the asylum's security system. Jeremiah showed him that two could play that game, attacking Edward with a chair, retrieving his phone, and counteracting what Edward had done by calling security. Needless to say, the session was over at that point.

Summer went undercover and got a job at the Iceberg Lounge as a waitress, hoping to expose Oswald's secrets. However, she ran into Edward while working in the back, who recognized her. He immediately tried to capitalize on the situation by reminding her how dangerous it would be if she were caught and demanding the files she'd taken from him. She suggested that they go into a private room. There Edward, believing that Oswald would be spying on them, pretended to be amorous until he realized that Summer wasn't concerned about it and she revealed that the camera in that room was disabled. Summer attempted to negotiate, but Edward knew he had the upper hand and refused any compromise or delay. So he took her away immediately so that she could retrieve the files and, on the way, he warned her against pursuing her story on Oswald, but when they got there Edward found she'd destroyed the original files and only had a flash drive to give him. That complicated matters for Edward and her continued refusal to listen to him about Oswald frustrated him, but he kissed her goodbye and left.

Bivins was surprised that his attempt to flirt with Diana succeeded, but then everyone was called to be seated for the dinner. At Table 1, Jeremiah and Gordon made polite conversation until they were joined by Bruce and Diana. Diana had to remind Bruce that he was at the gala with her because he was too distracted by worrying about Selina. At Table 2, Roy and Joan attempted to make pleasant conversation as the rest of the table were couples. Kory and Dick talked pleasantly with everyone, and Iris and Nathaniel fawned over each other. At Table 3, Babs was drunk and Charlotte was both appalled by this and took an instant dislike to Piper. The feeling was mutual. Piper chose to talk to Bivins instead, and both Elise and Renee were slow to arrive. At Table 4, Rooster shared her booze with Rowdy, who flirted with Lola even though she was clearly with Oswald. Rowdy spilled a drink trying to share the booze with Oswald, so Rooster took it back from him. Oswald treated Rowdy like he was nobody important. Rooster tried to encourage everyone to tell jokes, with slight success. Zahira just tried to remain unnoticed while Vicki tried to keep Rowdy corralled while casting jealous looks at Table 1. At Table 5, everyone awkwardly agreed that Selina had put them together on purpose. Harvey was tipsy but happy. Edward didn't cause any problems. Thomas and Helena made so many eyes at each other that Summer felt awkward sitting between them and offered to trade even though they insisted that they weren't together. After giving everyone a chance to get started on their meal, Lex gave a long, ego-driven presentation about how Gotham was horrible, but Metropolis had been horrible until he fixed it up so, of course, he could fix Gotham too. He explained some of his plans, and Selina offered a comparatively brief statement of support.

Edward was at Selina's apartment with breakfast when she came out of her room in the morning. He accused her of letting Catwoman die, listing off all the men who had either helped her or who had gotten the upper hand on her. She insisted that he had it wrong, and was bothered that he was making assumptions without knowing what her plans were. Edward revealed that he'd drugged the coffee he gave her with truth serum, and she revealed that she'd avoided the drink and slipped a sedative onto his bacon. What she didn't know was that he was recording their conversation and was planning on sending anything damaging she said to Lex, Bruce, and Harvey in hopes of damaging her relationships with them.

An All Too Familiar Terror

Jonathan hoped to meet with Edward at the Stacked Deck but, instead, Edward sent in Dee to get Jonathan to meet with him outside. Edward had figured out how to make a device that could speak for him and had a woman dressed up as someone from Jonathan's past to try to manipulate him. Jonathan refused to play his game by shooting the device Edward had made. Jonathan then explained that he'd helped Nina because he knew she would act against Edward either way and thought that he could control the situation. And Jonathan apologized. Edward responded by giving Jonathan a portable hard drive to be used against Lex and then warned Jonathan to run. Jonathan did so.

Death Sentence

Edward put a two million dollar hit out on Nina's mother, who had no real connection to anything going on in Gotham other than that blood relationship. Deathstroke looked into the job and got curious about it for that very reason, but when he tried to take the hit with a sniper rifle it didn't work. When Deathstroke went into the house, he met a hologram of Lex Luthor, who was there to negotiate with him to drop the job - explaining that Nina was a very important asset to him.

Edward had kidnapped the daughter of a CEO, and Harvey was given the case. Following the lead provided by the riddle, Harvey went to the library. Though Edward mocked his attempt, Harvey managed to figure out the riddle and went to talk to the girl's mother.

Despite the risks involved, Oswald put out an open invitation to poker night at his mansion. Edward, Poison Ivy, and Black Mask arrived first, the latter being quite a surprise to everyone because Roman was known to be dead. VerMillion and Catwoman arrived as well, but Edward immediately objected to VerMillion's presence. Poison Ivy and Black Mask both dismissed Edward's complaint. Lola arrived just before the Joker made his grand entrance, followed closely by Two-Face who also made a mess. Bivins arrived and tried to blend in while wearing a Guy Fawkes mask. VerMillion recognized Black Mask for who he was and greeted him with kisses, confusing everyone but that didn't stop Edward from grabbing her and putting a gun to her head. Poison Ivy immediately threatened Edward, causing him to let VerMillion go again. Summer, undercover as a server, began helping with drinks. Oswald encouraged everyone to turn their attention to the poker game, though when Lola expressed an interest in Summer's pearls he told Summer to hand them over.

Stormy had been contacted by Edward, who said he needed her help, so she met with him in the attic of a lighthouse, where she'd been staying. Edward was skeptical at first but agreed to owe her a favor if she cured him. She did so, and he was so grateful that he kissed her, which she liked so much that she said he didn't owe her any favors. He gave her his number anyway, should she need anything. She asked him how he'd ended up in that condition in the first place, and he told her.

Edward invited Oswald and Lola to his place for dinner. Oswald knew Edward was up to something and urged him to cut to the chase. Edward told him that the press had gotten into this business, and offered to bargain for the details. This made Oswald so angry that Lola went to the bathroom. Edward wanted the favor he owed Oswald to be forgiven and for Oswald to not kill the person in exchange for telling him who it was.

Edward, freshly cured, decided to visit Summer to make sure everything was in working order. Summer was woken up after falling asleep while working on a story. She was surprised to see him and even more surprised to hear him talk because she'd heard that he couldn't, but she didn't necessarily mind that he was amorous and impatient. After spending the night with her, Edward told her that he was sneaking into Wayne Tower and invited her to come with him. She agreed, and after they shared a shower, Edward took her to one of his houses where he disguised himself as one of her cameramen and they went to Wayne Tower. There Summer had no trouble talking her way past the guards because she was not an unfamiliar face there.

Edward, having discovered Laverne's true name and relationship to Harvey Bullock, left her a riddle disguised as a possible romantic overture by a fan. A string of clues led to a bar, a phone store, and a luggage store, which gifts in each. Edward met her outside of the luggage store, hopeful that she'd been swept off of her feet.

Edward invited Poison Ivy to a bar for a drink and to offer his help to her. Specifically, he offered to help her figure out how to control Superman, though she immediately pointed out that doing so would be very risky and asked for something in return. She said that what she wanted was to know about Edward's relationship with Jonathan, and got him to tell her before she agreed to mind control Superman.

Jonathan had done what Edward had asked, so he arranged to meet with him on a precarious perch in a building that was under construction. Jonathan attempted to get Edward to face his fear of heights but, instead, Edward merely proved that he wouldn't make Jonathan fall to his death and told him they'd be even when Jonathan had Nina.

Jonathan went to Edward's place and told him that he would be needing a place to hide. Edward dismissed Jonathan's wants, telling him that he didn't forgive him and only didn't want revenge. However, when Jonathan said he had a way out, Edward was too curious not to ask about it. Jonathan mentioned the various organizations that he'd been working with but Edward was not impressed by that.

Edward went to the bank, where he started a live broadcast to taunt the Batfamily with his knowledge of their identities. Harley arrived to rob the bank as she'd happened to have planned to do so at the same date and time. Oracle immediately got to work trying to secure the funds at the bank, while Batman and Robin got ready to confront Edward. Edward told Harley to go right ahead with her plans.
