A loud pop echoed in his small one bedroom apartment as he uncorked the red wine bottle. He slowly poured the wine into two glasses, and then placed the bottle on top of the counter of the kitchen. He brought the glass up to his lips and took a sip as he glanced over at the prepared dinner he had cooked. There were many reasons he was cooking tonight. The first related to having terrible Arkham food for the too long for his liking and the second being a long the line of a thank you.
When Edward had shown up on her doorstep soon after his escape, she had graciously allowed him to stay at one of her ‘extra’ apartments. He assumed she had it, in case Clients were forced to temporary leave their home as they remodel it with a security system. No matter the reason, she offered this place, and it gave him the needed time to set himself back on his feet. The Feds had frozen his accounts, so technically Edward was broke, but that could be solved after a heist. Until then, he would make do with this average place of living and use it to his advantage.
He looked over the salmon and sides he had decided to make. He never particularly cared for fish, but he knew Selina enjoyed it. He did hope she would be here soon. He pulled out his phone, and as expected, she was fifteen minutes late. He knew she would be late though, and planned ahead by cooking later. Now, he was finished and she still had yet to arrive. Well if the food was cold, it would be her own fault.
He pouted out his lips in frustration. “Cats will do as they please,” he mumbled to himself as he moved to the living area. Without the distraction of cooking, he was forced to his thoughts. His frown deepened quickly shoving them away. Another reason, he had called this dinner.
He heard a knock at the door when he was about ready to settle on the couch. He smirked and moved to the door. He opened it without a care in the world, his eyes landing of course on the most beautiful woman of Gotham. “Selina dear, I’m glad you finally made it,” he said waving his hand with the glass into his apartment as if welcoming her in, “I would offer you milk, but unfortunately all I have is wine.”
This wasn’t a date, but Edward was planning on rolling out all of his charm tonight. After all….he was single.
