Finally after classes were over for the day, she had the whole afternoon to be as carefree and be herself. As soon as she got the chance to get away from campus, she hide away from any seeing eyes. No longer Linda Long or Kara the earth girl....She was became Supergirl.
Her quick change had nothing to do with saving the day, but it was her chance to get away from the day to day life as a college student and an average human being. Which she wasn't.
And even then she still couldn't believe she let Clark talk her into actually attending school when she first came to earth. Though she did secretly enjoy the chance to learn the earth ways. But it was easy going for her. With being so intelligent it didn't take much effort to get through things.
Though when it came to the amount of homework she was assigned...it wouldn't even be a job for Supergirl to handle.
At least as Supergirl, Kara was free to use her powers as she wished. Not having to hold back and act like one of the humans. Not that she didn't enjoy being on earth. It was just the memory of another life was still on her mind. One she mainly had forgotten. She lived in the here and the now.
And the here and the now was time to have freedom and some time for....wait...shoot! She had plans to meet up with Clark....How could she have forgotten. And he was going to be there any moment.
Not that she hated having the quality time with Clark, but it usually turned into a lecture over their powers and responsibilities. It was as if he thought she was going to forget all this at any moment.
Sure, they were cousins...but at times she felt like he was trying to be more parenting to her. After all that went down with Darkseid and all, she could understand being protective over her. But at times, he could be over protective.
Kara laughed to herself over her cousin's actions. It was true, he was the big blue boy scout. She couldn't help but to remember the nickname Batman had come up with for her cousin. And to be honest she didn't disagree.
She did love her cousins. Both Clark and Connor. They were as close as a family on earth could get. She hadn't seen any other Kryptonians around on earth besides them.
Flying faster than the speed of light, Kara tore through the sky. Determined to mean with Superman on time. At least an afternoon of being Supergirl beat anything else that there was to do. Also gave her the chance to skip out on any homework at the moment.

Superman had managed to get off from his job as Clark at the Daily Bugle and was now flying out of the alleyway he used to change into the one and only Man of Steel. Or at least the first Man of Steel as far as humans were concerned.
He flew out of the alleyway and up into the sky above Metropolis. He hovered above the city for a few seconds to make sure that nothing would happen. Once he was sure he took off and flew near the speed of light to meet up with Kara where she had chosen to meet. He wondered about who would get there first. But he mostly was wondering if she was staying on the straight and narrow. When he thought of it she probably was staying on the straight and narrow because otherwise he would have heard of it.
He figured that he should go ahead and practice what he would tell her about her powers and smiled at the bit because he was sure that she probably thought of him as somewhat over protective... But that's what Superman did and who he was.

Kara soar through the sky. Her golden blonde hair being whipped around at the wind she was creating with her speed. Her crystal blue eyes fixed on the location she was headed.
Kara had told Clark to meet her at the Empire State building. New York was always a fun place to fly over. And she knew from there, they could move on with whatever and where ever they needed to go.
Getting to the building, she could hear Clark flying in. "So, am I early or are you late," Kara said as she floated there with her arms crossed.
She couldn't keep serious at the time. She was just glad to see him. A smile broke out onto her face. "What ever happened to that race around the world you promised, Clark," Kara said joking.
She knew very well he had never promised such. But she was hoping maybe at some point they could. Looking him over she knew something was on his mind. She had a feeling she knew what might be coming. Clark could be predictable at times.

Superman arrived at the Empire State Building just after Supergirl did. "Lets just say that you're early." He said with a smirk. "Lets stroke what little ego I have." He added jokingly. He looked at all the people moving around the city below they all looked like ants from as far above the city as the were. Ants that needed to be protected and Superman had sworn to protect them with his life if need be. And he hoped that he would gain others to his cause.
He smiled at her comment about a race. "You know how I feel about that. We would need to avoid anyone that could get hurt." He replied. He knew that many viewed him as a..... What was it that Batman called him? Oh right. the 'Big Blue Boy Scout' but by doing what he did and being who he was he was able to save all the little 'ants' that just scurried about down below.

"And I thought I was running late," Kara teased.
Even for how fast she flew, it had been faster than normal to make it here on time. At lease she didn't go the speed of sound or anything. Then she might be hearing it from Clark about rushing for no reason.
It was always alright to use speed like that to save someone, but not for play. Which in Kara's case...she didn't often listen to that rule. What was the fun in having super speed and flight if you couldn't use them. Sometimes she could be a little skeptical of how the humans would react to their kind. The aliens on this planet.
Luckily for Kara, her cousin had already set the bar high for their kind. And the humans seemed more comfortable having them around then the other aliens protecting them. But even then, Kara couldn't deny the feeling that she had a lot to live up to. Liking in Superman's shadow because of her being Supergirl. But there was no way she was ever going to give it up.
"How could we hurt any one? We could tone down the speed and race to do some sight seeing or something as well," Kara tried to negotiate.
Though looking at him and his views. She knew he wouldn't trust her to keep the speed level down. She loved to race. And at least in space, there was no one. It was a lot safer up there to race. With her arms still crossed and raising an eyebrow. she looked at Clark. "You really are a Boy Scout aren't you," Kara teased at him over this.

The only reason Superman flew as fast as he did just now as because he was admittedly late. And he didn't want to keep Supergirl waiting. "We don't need to debate on who was late." Then paused. "After all it seems that here on Earth its hard to win a debate against a female." He added with a slight smirk.
He stopped and looked at Superman. "Well I don't want to run the risk of hurting anyone. After all we aren't exactly native." He looked at the people moving below and then back to Supergirl. He smiled at hearing the nickname that Batman had set aside for him. "It depends on who you ask." He replied jokingly. He had to admit that name was starting to grow on him.

"I wasn't trying to start a debate," Kara said.
Kara looked at him. Giving him a slight glare at the last sentence. "Huh, and I've heard that men can be stubborn over using a map and getting directions," she commented back.
She unfolded her arms and place them on her hips as she listened to him. "Native or not, I don't see how flying through the sky would hurt any one. Besides, it's not like we would be trying to turn the world or anything," she said.
She looked at him and gave a slight smile over his own joking over the nickname. "Well it seems from what the Titans had said, it's more of a bat-family nickname that call you the most. Then again Metropolis seems to be getting used to it in the headlines by some writers," she said.
Kara did every once in a while go and hang with the Titans. After all, most of them were aliens like her. That and they were her friends. Also it gives her more of a reason to visit with Connor as well.

Superman smiled abit at her comment about Earth men. "True which is why flying helps." He said lifting his index finger as if to make a point. It was true Earth men did seem to have a near obsessive need to be able to know where they were going without maps.
"As for a race I'd rather not start in the city. I can't be completely sure there won't be an accident and windows being shattered." He said referring to breaking the sound barrier at low altitude.
After hearing about the Titans and the bat-family nickname he's gotten he smiled. "Well it does have a slight ring to it." Then he felt idle curiosity rise up.... Ok not completely idle. It was something a man in his status should know. "How are the Titans doing?"

"Yes it does," Kara said with a smiled as she fly up a bit and performed a loop in flight. Coming back to where she had started.
She giggled slightly at the thought. Flying was always so much fun. She'd rather have her head in the clouds literally than pay attention in class.
She had promised Clark she wouldn't take any short cuts when it came to homework and research. It might catch people's attention. But not to withhold her talents since she was so bright. Sure it was easy for him to say, He sat at a desk where everyone had an eye on you at times.
Kara would admit though she had used her powers to get through her homework and papers fasted. What was the fun of super speed if you couldn't use it to help yourself with paper and projects like this.
Then again...Clark did have a point. The last time she had used her speedy ways back in high school, she had mixed some wrong chemicals by accident and caused the class to be canceled because the classroom needed to be cleaned up from the explosion her project created. She remember that day, an unhappy Lana Lang and a disappointed Clark Kent. Ok, so one mistake. Besides that was within her first semester at a human school.
"So are you saying what I think you are saying," Kara asked. The smile on her face grew wider. And her crystal blue eyes had a sparkle to them.
She looked at him. The smile fading a bit and getting back to being a bit more serious. "Do you mean how are they or do you really mean Connor? Either way, they seem to be fine. Haven't done much with them in a while," Kara said.
Kara had her sights set slightly a bit higher. Wanting to get into the League a bit more for the bigger fights. The stuff that would challenge her. The stuff she could handle.

Clark watched her do a flip and smiled slightly. He remembered his first time flying and he had felt much the same way. But now he had to be responsible... And part of him was disappointed at that and another part understood it.
Superman shrugged slightly. "I'm willing to race. After all it would be a good way to train you." He said noticing her smile. "But don't get any ideas." He said pointing at her trying to reinforce his point.
He looked at her and had to admit to himself he was more interested in how Conner was doing then he was in the Titans. Not that he didn't care for them. But there weren't many of them who were Kryptonians. "Its good that they're doing fine. And I assume Conner is too? And how are you? You haven't been cutting corners in school have you?"

"Now Clark, you really think your dear sweet little cousin of your's is going to try something," Kara said teasingly.
Oh, she was up to something. She's leave him behind in the clouds if she could find the right mountain range to slow him down. A smile still on her lips as she had thought about it.
"Yeah, I guess. Haven't heard much from him in a while. But by the sounds of it, he is holding his own as usual with the time. Haven't heard any bad reviews either coming from the towns they have been saving. Sure there's destruction at times, but sounds like the Titans are quite impressive. And Connor is definitely getting his chance to stand out in the fights," Kara said.
She she hadn't seen Connor as much, but that didn't mean she didn't look for his name in the papers as Superboy. She had been seeing a lot of good stuff about them lately. And a lot of the other heroes she had run into have been saying a lot of good things about the teams progress together.
Kara looked at him over the next questions that were directed at her after answering the first about Connor. "Uh...you had to bring up the s word," she slouched forward with her shoulders. The last thing that was on her mind at that time was school. "I've been doing good. Keeping up in my classes and all."
She straighten back out a bit more. "You really think I of all people have been cutting corners? The only time I speed read and search is if and when a paper is forgot after a long weekend of crime fighting," she started off. "I know how to study properly. My grades are still above average as usual."

Superman eyed his cousin for a few seconds before nodded. "Yes I think you're up to something." he said with an amused smile. Kara was still at that point in which she was eager to go and what not.
Clark's expression became serious as she relayed the news about Conner. He was glad to hear that Conner was doing ok. After all he was a part of the family in a way. And one could consider him a closer relative to Clark then Kara was. Of course it was due to the fact that Conner was his clone. As she finished talking Clark gave a nod with a slight affirmative grunt.
At her show of displeasure at hearing the word 'school' he smirked slightly. What teenager didn't not like going to school and having to sit through lectures for hours at a time? "Good. I take it its rather boring?" He asked. "No interesting teachers or anything?" He asked more to mess with her then anything else. He may be Superman but he was still allowed to mess with his cousins. If not then what good was it to have them?

"I think I should be...what like the humans say offended," she said. Playing like he didn't understand the humans.
But being Kryptonian, it was kind of hard not to understand the humans. Their form was so much like their own. It was just Kryptonians on earth seemed to have powers. When back home everyone was the same power wise.
"That depends on which class I'm not sleeping through," Kara said, looking almost serious. But before she could see Clark would be annoyed at this, she threw her hands up and said,"Kidding! Kidding! I know you and Lana are helping me out with school and the scholarships help as well. I wouldn't be spending the money to sleep in classes I am paying for."
She looked at him. And gave him the look of really, still this subject. "And there are a few. But there is this Professor Grant. Don't get me wrong he's a nice guy. But he seems to really enjoy his work. He's come into class in costume for some of the subjects. Sometimes I wonder if the guy was a wannabe actor who couldn't cut and is now using his classes to try and perform," Kara said.
Kara looked at Clark. Crossing her arms and gave him a look of annoyance. "You're enjoying this topic aren't you? Well considering you were a farm boy all your life and school was the only way to socialize with anyone...," she took the chance to take a gab at him.
"Don't think I don't like Smallville, but please don't try to hide me their again. You know I like the big cities. Though I do like the country as well...," Kara said honestly. She didn't want to upset her cousin. But Kara was the type that could be tied down. Not when there was so much to do.

Clark chuckled some. "Don't be even humans aren't allowed to fly at first." He said referring to airplanes. Granted there were some humans who never got the opportunity to fly in one of those things and there were even more who never wanted to.
When she commented about 'not sleeping through' Clark let a slight scowl cross his face. It lessened slightly when she went on to explain that she was kidding. He still didn't find it all too funny. It vanished completely when Kara described this 'Professor Grant' person. "He dresses up?" He asked not quite believing what he was hearing. "As in he wears costumes? I never had a teacher like that." He added with a slight laugh. Humans certainly were a strange species.
Clark knew he was beat when he couldn't think of a comeback when she commented about his time in school. But at least he managed to get some time to mess with his cousin. "Alright fine you win." He said grimacing slightly. When she commented on Smallville Clark looked at her and raised an eyebrow. "Just remember that its a safe place to go and lie low if you ever need to. Not many humans actually seem to pay attention to Kansas." He said defending his Earthly home town.

"Well they are humans," Kara commented.
She knew what she had said gotten to Clark at first. She knew it would. But she was only making a slight point over things.
"Yes, it is a history class. So it is not uncommon for him to try something like that," Kara said. "Half the students, myself included feel like we want to slam our heads into the desks."
Sure it might be fun for Grant. But there were times when it was just weird.
"Then again if I would actually do that, I'd probably break the desk with my forehead," Kara said knowing sometimes if she wasn't paying attention enough it would be normal strength for a Kryptonian.
At his defense on her attack over his home town, she knew she must have stuck a nerve. She looked at him and gave a sorry took. Uncrossing her arms, one going straight and the other hand rubbing the upper part of that arm. She looked down slightly and kind of kicked at the air as if they might still be on the ground.
"I know Clark...I didn't mean to offend you or your town in any way. It's just to me, there's so much to see. And being locked away out there for protection in Kansas was some what isolating," Kara said. Her crystal eyes looked back at him after she in more or less apologized to him.
Isolation was something she wasn't too keen on. Not after being trapped in a deep sleep through space for over 18 years. Which she wouldn't have really known much about. She remember only bit and pieces of her old life. But the way of Krypton was like how life on earth might be in centuries. she was used to the fast pace, futuristic life she once had.
