As they sat there talking, Dick had noticed the waitress eying him. He decided he would ignore it for now. He was quite into the conversation before them. For once he was at least opening up and saying some what of what he might be planning. But out in public, there is only so much that could be said about a life that others did not know of. And of course, there was no way he was going to let on to anyone else that he was Robin. If he did, his and Bruce's identity would be in the hands of the enemy. And Dick knew how many there were out there, out to get them. Even some new radio stations and media was out to get Batman as it was, not to mention some of the GCPD. The day that happened, it would seem like the world would probably end. As far as Dick was concerned, he'd take this secret to the grave as well as that of those around him.
He knew he had to chose his words carefully as they sat there in the public. Especially, seeing as this waitress that was looking at him, he had a feeling she was also trying to pick up on a bit of the conversation as she was dropping of their drinks. "Thanks," Dick said after the waitress had set the drinks down.
Listening to Babs, Dick felt like he was getting placed back into the same situation he had been before. Stuck back to thinking about the others around him that his decision would affect. It made Dick feel like what he wanted to do was total selfish of him. Sure in some ways it was, but it felt like it was something that he needed to do. And now with hearing Babs basically saying he needed to forget about what he wanted and just stay where he was at this point in time.
Dick was silent for a little. He did not let any thought project into any type of expression on his face to his best ability. At this time, he didn't want Babs picking up that what she had said was getting to him in a way. This was one of the hardest things to do. And he felt now that he didn't have her support on his decision on this. Now he was feeling like everyone might be trying to keep him where he was.
He allowed for it to slip for now. He could talk to her about it later, in a more private location. Dick knew she might pick up on something, but he did his best to look like the subject did not bug him. When it came to this kind of stuff, sometimes it was hard to really know for sure if Babs would have picked up on how he was acting toward this. Though, sometimes Dick was good at covering up on this kind of stuff to keep it from registering and giving off his thought toward someones comment.
Looking back at Babs, he took notice to the little smirk that was playing on her lips now. She ended up answering before he was going to ask her what that look was for. He simply smiled at her as she brushed some of his hair out of his face. "Let her. If she can't see that I'm taken, then she's got eye trouble," Dick responded and flashed a smile at Babs, showing his white teeth a bit.
Seeing as Babs was already leaned toward him, Dick decided it would be funny to catch her off guard. And maybe reinforce the fact that he was with Babs. But more so to catch Babs of guard. Dick leaned in a bit quicker than what Babs had when she was brushing a bit of his hair to the side. He leaned on his left arm as he lightly placed his hand long the side of Babs's cheek and placed a gentle kiss upon her lips.
