Word of Ban's return and his takeover of Marcus's Casino quickly gathered word around Gotham with Both Mafia and Ex-mafia members alike. Some of the people belonging to the family, decided to opt out and seek a more legitimate line of work. There were multiple reasons for this the police had started doing major crackdowns on illegal activity, Internal conflicts had actually hurt many leaders profit books often times more so then the government regulations it would take to actually run a legitimate business, and then of course you always had the issue with Batman.
Bane didn't really care he held just as much value in legitimate businesses as much as he did underworld profit after all money was money plus the more influence he could gain legally, the better of he felt he would be in the long run. As legit businesses while at times produced income more slowly tended to last longer.
Some of the defectors would often have crazy business plans and ideas to bring crazy and new legitimate businesses, some took off others fell flat. This new business plan however peaked Bane's curiosity and he found himself wanting to check it out.
The man behind the idea was James Alfredo the son of Marcus. Despite the fact that Bane had killed his father the man bore no grudge against him, in fact if anything he wanted to thank Bane for eliminating a thorn in his side. James was a genius robotics engineer and rather than wanting to live off the legacy of the criminal underworld like his father and grandfather before him, James wanted to use his talents in business dreaming to become the next Bruce Wayne and Lex Luthor. The problem was that He never felt like he could get off the ground any ideas he came up with were either to little too late and thought up by another company, or the idea itself never got off the ground...Save one that is.
On top of owing a muti-million Dollar Casino, Marcus always gad a fascination with arena style competions. Boxing, Wrestling, Karate you name it, and a lot of this passed on to his soon. Boxing however was just a little too violent for James Taste though, plus activist form around Gotham had began protesting the violent sport left and right. People needed their entertainment though. Something to keep their mind off of the corrupt politicians or the police that were bought and paid for by the mafia. They needed legal entertainment that they could go to without being forced underground.
James memory would go back to his child hood and how he would often used 2 feet tall toy robots and make the box each other. Then the idea hit him Why not do that on a grander scale? The project would take nearly 10 years to complete as he first had to convince the higher ups to let him go though the project and then it took buying the proper place for a arena, but it was finally completed. The Beta Preview now open to the public was nigh.
This is where Bane came in though he didin't know for sure why true he had been to many underground robot fights, but this may have very well been the first legal fight he had been to. The buiilding in which the arena ewas located was 12 stories in height the lobby had a very wide feel to it. People were lined up peering over the TV screens not sure what to think of this new sport.
The Lobby
As Bane took a seat, one of the attewndance walked up to him.
"Excuse me? Your Mr.Niño Osito correct?"
Bane Nodded
"I am"
"Follow me Sir. Mr. Alfredo has a special seat for you."
Bane Followed the attendant to what appeared to be box seats that looked over the similar to that of an opera house. In the seat area stood a table and some chairs. James sitting in one of them looked over and grinned as he saw Bane move forward
the Arena
Mr. Osito it is wonderful to meet you at last .
Bane shook James hand and said likewise. James pointe his arm at the arena.
"well this is my baby. Tell me what you think."
Bane looked over at the circular arena the seats themselves seemed to be fairly packed. In the ring itself stood to massive robots. Each of them larger than life standing at nearly 8 feet tall. Both opponents were clobbering each other with a massive sense of brute force. The sound of clanking metal could be heard all throughout the arena. People were hooping and hollering as vendors shouted over the crowd trying to sell their products. Bane Sat Back in his chair deciding to hold judgment until it was all over.
