Abilities/Skills:
Dick is a master Acrobat and skilled in multiple martial artist, from years of training along side Bruce Wayne. Even though he is skilled in many different martial arts, he has not mastered as much as his mentor. What he has learned, he has combined into his own style of fighting. From years of training in both acrobats and martial arts, Dick is athletic and in peek human strength for someone his age. He is quite skilled when it comes to working on computers and machinery. Being quite the detective, trained to hunt and track from the best, he has to be quick to be able to stay on top of a situation. He is a talented escape artist as well.
Weaknesses:
He is only human and can be affected by illnesses and injuries. Which means that he is susceptible to illnesses and injuries that could lead to death. His loyalty to his friends and always wanting to protect them can play as a strong weakness for his enemies to play off of. Another weakness of his can be his anger, not to mention his pride. If pushed to his limits, he becomes blinded by his rage and often rushes into fights without really thinking.
Appearance:
Standing at 5’10’’, Dick has a strong, athletic built body from years of working out and training. Weighting at 175 lbs, most of his weight consists of muscle. He may look laid back, but the looks he sometimes gives with his sharp blue eyes often projects his thoughts. His eyes are sometime somewhat hidden by his shaggy black hair. Dick is not too concerned about his image, but does put some thought into it at times for the Wayne image. On the streets he looks like any other young man, dresses in jeans and a t-shirt. When it comes to events such as business or social parties, he does usually wears a suit.
As Robin, his suit was nothing like the Batman’s in ways of the design and especially the colors. The suit was based of off his old circus outfit he used to wear. The suit consists of a design much like his old circus leotard, the top part is red with short green sleeves on it and the legs of the suit are green. The is a noticeable black patch with an “R” on it that sits on the left side of his chest. He also wears green glove that come half way up to his elbows and tall black boots that are a lot like the Batman’s. Of course he also has the utility belt like Batman and Batgirl. His cape was designed to be more light weight so it would not hold Robin back in performing any acrobatic moves while fighting. The cape is black on the up side and yellow on the under. And one of the most important pieces of his suit is his black eye mask to hide his identity.
Now, as Nightwing, his suit bares no cape and is well fitted to his body. The suit is design to be light weight compared to that of the batsuit. It is designed to be flexible and to be able to work with his acrobatic skills. Like the Robin suit had been, it is made of the kelvin mash material for higher prevention of tearing or ripping easily. The material is fire resistant. And there are several different suits for different occasions. Just like Batman, he is always prepared. The suit no longer has the ideal utility belt like that of the bat-family’s suits. The Nightwing suit is designed with gauntlets that sit on both of the lower arms set mid way. And on both of his lower legs mid way his calf. These are the start of the boots as well to the suit.
There are built in gliders to the suit as well that are connected to the upper arm and to the shoulder blade area. A new feature to the suit. His suit is fully black except for a blue symbol that stretches across his chest and the same on the back. And the blue stripes down to his index and middle fingers of his suit. He still dowse the eye mask, but a new form to fit the new look. There are also spring loaded like holders on the back of the suit to house his escrima sticks.
Personality:
Young, charming and a bit headstrong and stubborn, Dick fights for what he believes in. He is not afraid to make his opinion known. When it comes to Batman’s style of crime fighting, Dick does have his own way of handling a situation. Unlike his mentor, he is not as reserved. In a stressful situation sometimes he might try to joke to lighten the mood. He can be quite sarcastic during times of seriousness or even in just plain fun.
Sometimes a bit cocky, he reacts before he thinks. At times, a fight can be nothing more than a game. He is more of a daredevil and enjoys the danger of a fight. Sometimes he is too confident in his own plans and if they fall through, his ego takes the hit. It’s mainly then that Dick can get a little more defensive. Dick is not one to open up and talk about his problems or things that bug him. Some people see him as being moody when he gets like this. Sometimes the reason he gets like this is because he hates to admit when his is wrong and he can take things too personally.
Dick often can take on the role as a leader easily. After years of being in the shadow of the Batman as Robin, he often gets annoyed being treated like he is still a kid. He has learned from the best and of course he can do quite as well as Batman on his own. Though as Robin, he is thought to be the more easy going of the dynamic duo, but Robin can be just as serious in a fight as Batman.
Dick does show a bit more emotion than what his stone cold mentor seems to. He does try to make the best of a situation by laughing things off. Dick likes to try and enjoy life when he can, but he knows since the day he became Robin, he has more responsibility to bear. And he often bears it alone.
Background:
Dick Grayson was never an average kid, being raised in the circus by his family that were acrobats was not what some would consider a normal life. But to Dick it was, he knew nothing more than the life in the circus training in acrobatics and traveling to perform in different cities. His family of the “Flying Graysons” were the star attraction of the circus. He performed along side his mother and father. Life seemed to be going well for young Dick Grayson, until the day the circus came to Gotham. Before the circus was to give their performance, some thugs that belonged to the gang of a man by the name of Tony Zucco, came for a little business offer to the head owner of the circus. Refusing to have anything to do with Zucco’s gang, the thugs warned the circus performers they had not heard the last of them.
The thugs held up to their words and the night of the performance in Gotham, Dick swore he saw someone tampering with the ropes to some of the setups. Dick tried to warn some of the circus crew, but no one seemed to listen to the twelve year old. When it came time for the Flying Graysons to perform, Zucco’s thugs carried through with the plan. As Dick’s parents were starting the act, the main cord of the trapeze broke. Dick and many others in the crowd watched in horror as Dick’s parents fell to their deaths.
Not long after the accident, Dick was taken into the care of the local police. Dick was alone he had no where to go until Bruce Wayne stood up to the Gotham police and told them he would take the boy in. Once in Bruce Wayne’s care, there was only one thing on his mind and that was to find the man responsible and get revenge. Dick started going out on his own trying to fight crime on the streets, until one night he ran into the Batman when he had tracked down Zucco trying to flee town. Batman protected Dick that night as Zucco managed to escape.
After the encounter with Zucco that night, the Batman took Dick back to the Batcave and revealed to Dick that Bruce Wayne was the Batman. Dick convinced Bruce that he wanted to fight along side of Batman. Bruce wasn’t too trilled about the idea, but seeing that Dick had gone through almost the same as he did losing his parents years ago, he decide let Dick join him in the fight of crime in Gotham.
From that moment, Dick took on an old nickname of his as his crime fighting identity which was Robin. Dick spent many hours training along with Bruce to learn the skills he would need to fight crime. At first crime fighting was all a game for Robin. He would fight and help Batman to crack cases or stop criminals in their act of crime. The fun and games did not last long for Robin, one confrontation again Two-Face put an end to it all. Two-Face set Robin up for a double edged trap. He could either save Batman or a District Attorney. Robin tried to save the District Attorney when Two-Face has another surprise trap which led to the death of the Attorney. Two-Face then takes on Robin as Batman watched Robin take the beating until he frees himself from the trap and saves Robin. After that confrontation with Two-Face, crime fighting was no longer a game.
Dick continues to fight as Robin along side of Batman for a few years. As time goes on Dick becomes more skillfully in his training of crime fighting and the martial arts. During this time, a Batgirl comes into the picture and starts helping fight crime with the Batman and Robin. Dick wasn’t at all trilled at first with the idea of Barbara Gordon joining, but over time he felt that Barbara could handling herself almost as well as he and Bruce could.
As time went on, Dick took the chance to help start a team called the Teen Titans. It gave Dick the chance to step out of the shadow of his mentor a bit and get the chance to be in charge. Dick became leader of the Titans for a while. The Titans were made up of other heroes that wanted a chance to see what they could do without playing the side-kick role. It could be difficult at time for Dick since he was the only one without super powers fighting in the Titans. This went on for a while until Dick decides to go back to Gotham.
Since his return to Gotham, Dick found it harder to fall back into the role of the side-kick to Batman. Others around him seemed to notice as well, especially with a growing tension at times between him and Bruce. Dick didn’t want to just be told what to do when crime fighting and hated to be told when a fight was none of his concern. Since he got back, he was more prone to go out on his own and take on some cases by himself. But for the sake of the team at times, he would often allow himself to be held back to keep from challenging Batman’s authority. The Titans helped Dick to realize he didn’t want to always be in the shadow of the Bat.
As far as education, Dick decided to continue it by going to college to study Law. Between his classes and his life as Robin, Dick isn’t left with much time for other things. He continues to fight along side of Batman with the help of Batgirl at times, but often likes to go out on his own now as well. Now a days, Dick can be found either on the college campus, or hanging out at Wayne Manor and working in the Batcaves at time. And of course, traveling the streets of Gotham as Robin, often patrolling by motorcycle.

After another day, another night of crime in Gotham is sure to follow. Dick always seemed to find himself in the same situation lately with just the minor crimes going on. Every night seemed the same, he would be dressed in his Robin suit and be either watching over the city by sitting on the roof tops or patrolling the streets on his motorcycle. And every night that week had been small crimes like someone’s purse being stolen or some inexperienced robber setting off an alarm in a local jewelry store. Not that these crimes were unimportant, it was just that there was never any challenge in these kind of fights. Robin was patrolling the streets by motorcycle that night in hopes that something interesting might happen that night.
Robin was hiding out in an alley at the time, just sitting back listening to the crackling of the radio transmitter from time to time in his ear. He had the kick stand down so he could lean the motorcycle onto it and just hang out for a bit. The light of the moon was casting shadows that seemed to be taking over the streets. At least that would be to Robin’s advantage if anything does go down.
Robin was just about ready to remove his helmet and take a break when there was a lone call on the transmitter. “We have a hit and run situation. The suspected vehicle is a white repair van, writing on it of an electrician company, headed north a block from my post,” an officer reported. “Need back up.”
Alright, at least this is more interesting than going after some purse snatcher, Robin through as he shifted his weight to straighten out his motorcycle. He quickly knocked the kick stand back up and as he gripped the handles of the motorcycle, the engine roared to life breaking the silents of the night. Robin leaned in and shifted into gear and came flying out of the alley way, his head lights a bit low to stay out of view. He knew exactly where to go, the tracker on his motorcycle’s small computer screen showed where the call have been radioed in from and he just had to follow the leads the officer gave out. Lucky for him, he wasn’t far from the scene. But Robin wasn’t one to take his time driving on the roads. He sped up his motorcycle to make up for the lost time the police gain from just searching for the vehicle.
Robin took a sharp turn onto the main street, there were hardly any cars about that night. Robin continued to drive on down the street, his cape fluttering in the wind as he raced through the city. To his luck it did not take him long to find a white van crossing his path that had some red paint on the front ended and a nice side dent on the driver’s side. Robin turned onto the same road as the van was on and kept on it’s tail. The street light gave away to the driver of the van that a sleek black motorcycle was on his tail and it was hard not to notice the figure driving the motorcycle. The van started to speed up. “Alright, I’ve got the right van,” Robin stated out loud.
In the distance behind them, Robin could see the flashing lights of a police car catching up. He wasn’t about to let up just because the police were coming. He sped up and was now a long side of the van on the driver’s side. The drive caught sight of him and tried to swerve into him with the van. Robin eased off the gas to let the motorcycle fall back to avoid the larger vehicle. “Wants to do it the hard way then,” Robin mused.
Robin put the motorcycle into cruise control and and slowly eased himself up so that now he’s feet were on the seat of the motorcycle. He balanced himself before he let go of the handle bars and was now standing on the motorcycle. He knew he was close enough to make the jump onto the van with no problem. So, he took the leap of faith and landed laying on the roof of the vehicle, gasping a bit as it was a harder landing than he expected. He grabbed onto a rail that securing a ladder. Robin climbed his way across the top the vehicle as he motorcycle cruised behind the van by computer setting. Robin was now above the driver’s side of the vehicle. He wasn’t about to make this drag out any longer than he had to. He leaned a bit over the edge of the van and with his fist broke through the window of the driver’s side. “I need to see proof of insurance,” Robin said half jokingly, he was more interested in stopping the van.
He reached in quickly and pulled the driver out as he did this he slipped a clip onto the man’s belt and hit the button setting off the line gun hook. The hook catching onto a building and as Robin slipped into the driver’s seat, the driver was pulled off the roof of the van and was now hanging by his belt off of the line gun’s cord, safely secured to a build off the side of the road. Robin slammed the breaks on the van to bring it to a stop.
When the van was at a complete stop, Robin jumped out and hopped onto his motorcycle that drove up along side, speeding off to get away before the police had a chance to question him. The squad car stopped at the sight of the stopped van. And officer stepped out of the squad car and saw there was no driver in the van. There was a small cry for help from behind him and there was the driver still handing by the line gun cord a few feet off the ground near the buildings. Robin continued to drive on. That’s wasn’t all that much of a challenge as he was hoping, but it beat chasing down some lame crook stealing a purse.
