The Bikini/Speedo Rule of Thumb

[/u] any other character or themselves in those areas with or without clothing, and those areas can not be described. In fact, any part of a person's anatomy completely covered may not be mentioned at all. Does this include breasts and butts? No - those are only mostly covered, so you can feel free to mention them. This is also the limit to what can be shown in any picture on the forum. This is always in effect, no matter what else I say anywhere else in guide.[/ul]
Sex, Nudity, Etc.

[/i] allowed to think and talk about sex, as long as it isn't to the point that they violate the bikini/speedo rule, or anything said about profanity below. Innuendo is also allowed, as long as it's at the level that it's still plausible that someone without their mind in the gutter wouldn't get it. If your character wishes to do so, skip over that part or censor it as described in the profanity section.

Full nudity is allowed in non-sexual contexts, as long as the bikini/speedo rule isn't violated. When a character is in this state of undress, other characters are allowed to look (and appreciate or not) but not touch in any remotely sexual way. If your character wants to do so, then you need to end the thread or skip ahead before first touch. Non-sexual touching is still allowed - the difference between the two is in both how the touch is meant by the toucher and how it's interpreted by the touchee.

Two more things that ought to be mentioned: while attempted rape is allowed, due to the seriousness of the subject any successes should at most be implied and should still have consent between the players even if the character doesn't. Similarly, pedophilia should also stay off the forum - specifically, anything beyond child-style kissing involving a character under the age of 13 with someone more than 2 years older or younger than them, sex involving any character under the age of 16, and sex involving a character under 18 with anyone over 2 years older.[/ul]
Violence and Gore

[/i] restricted is the amount of description that may be used for such things. For example, if you want to stab someone, that's fine. If you want to twist the knife while you do it, go ahead. If you want to explain what that sounds like, please don't! Basically, you're free to let your character do as they will, but leave it up to the reader to decide just how much detail is in the picture in their head by keeping any descriptions down to only the necessary details rather than explaining it all in literally gory detail - people have gag reflexes, you know.

And a quick note on pictures: we're okay with blood, superficial flesh wounds, stitches, and other things like that, but nothing more than that in a photo or realistic picture please! You should also be wary of any other 'gross' things like, for example, feces. Eww![/ul]
Profanity

[/i] think that replacing the vowel with a * is adequate - you might as well just write the whole word at that point. Replacing all but the first letter with dashes is somewhat better. Using random symbols is another method.

Also, keep in mind that these words should be more a matter of what your character is thinking and saying rather than a part of the overall description of what your character is doing. Similarly, the out of character areas should be free from profanity unless it's clear that you're acting in character, as a lot of people consider that to be rude and while your character is free to be as rude as they want to other characters, you should be nice to your fellow players.[/ul]
