{{Under Reconstruction!}}
Real Name: Dr. Jonathan Crane
Alias: The Scarecrow
Age: Late twenties, early thirty's
Gender: Male
Occupation: The Scarecrow is an insane ex-psychologist who uses a variety of drugs and psychological tactics to use the fears and phobias of his adversaries. He does not commit his crimes for wealth, but rather as a form of "research" to further study the effects of fear on humans (later, he does it to satisfy his own psycopathic desires), making the innocent citizens of Gotham his unwilling guinea pigs.
Current Status: Laying low from the Gotham City Police, and the FBI
Alignment: Chaotic Evil
Costumed Identity Known By Their Enemies? Yes
Costumed Identity Known By The General Public? Yes
Real Identity Known By Their Enemies? Yes
Real Identity Known By The General Public? Yes
Abilities/Skills: Has access and knows how to make a powerful, gas/serum called fear gas. Which makes the victim realize there worst fears in intense illusions and hallucinations. The serum or gas comes from the Blue poppy flower near Ra's al Ghuls dojo. The effect of the toxins is so potent it's been known to make a man go insane with no way of reversing the process. He uses a large amount of fear tactics to manipulate his enemies. Also has a counter toxin called Brave gas which makes the infected live without fear. Very skilled in a type of hand to hand combat called "Violent Dancing"
Weaknesses: No super human abilities. His own fear gas. Developed a fear of birds crows in particular at a young age. Due to the abuse of his overly religious Grandmother. She would lock him in a church filled with Crows that she trained to attack him repeatedly when he did something wrong. In recent years he developed a fear of Batman himself(Batman year one) and a disposition towards bullying due to being bullied as a young child in school. Knows only one style of fighting named "Violent dancing". Which is a mixture of Kung fu Crane and drunken boxing. He is not very muscular making him at a disadvantage to someone built better than he is. He is addicted to fear.
Appearance: Very skinny and tall. Oval shaped glasses. Brown hair, white Caucasian male. In costume he wears a brown Scarecrow mask over his face with a built in gas mask. Known to wear needled type gloves
Personality: He is certainly the awkward type. Though not completely Innocent, he never had too much time for friends or serious relationships. A very educated man especially in the field of psychology. Normally a timid personality when eventually snapping with an event that went out of control. Since then his stability has been questionable. Regard for human life seems to be non existent though he is much more interested in seeing his foes suffer at their own fears than simply killing them. His scarecrow persona seems to be separate from his Dr. Crane persona, leading doctor to believe he suffers from at least a small amount of personality disorder. When the Scarecrow he has an obsession with making people realize there deepest fears but above all making them fear him.
He has an almost savage delight for frightening people to death with his toxins. Known to be extremely cynical in his methods and will push the boundaries of society to achieve his goals. His obsession for fears drove him to be one of the leading psychologists in his field.
Background: Jonathan Crane grew up having a rough childhood. He was born out of wedlock and never knew his father. Through most of his young life he was verbally and psychically abused by his grandmother. His mother never cared nor was around much to care about what was going on with him. A snapping moment caused him to later murder his grandmother. He would later find out that his mother had another child, a girl. Which lead him to go over board with jealousy and grief.
He grew up to become a professor of psychology at Gotham University, specializing in phobia's. An incident where he had injured one of his students got him fired. He had brought a gun into the classroom and fired it to make a point. A student was severely injured. Soon after he was able to pick up the pieces of where he had left off in his life after the incident. He was offered another job. When he transferred to Arkham Asylum he began to conduct illegal experiments on his patients. He was exposing them to the early stages of his newly found serum. The affect that it had on the students was fascinating him driving him to perfect the toxin. Once found out he was fired and became from then on...a Career Criminal. He made a straw mask that would soon define him as the scarecrow. Built into this mask was a filtered gas mask to protect himself from his own toxins. This made him incredibly deadly because he could expose a massive amount of people in a small area without being effected himself. He would go on , later into his research to perfect a counter toxin called brave gas. This gas was just as deadly although an an opposite effect than the fear gas. This Brave gas caused people to live without fear, causing them to do dangerous things without thinking twice about it. Later the Asylum was shut down scattering the ones he wanted revenge on. If there was one thing that the Scarecrow committed his crimes for it was not money. Instead he focused all of his attacks on the public of further research of the mind. He only became more and more obsessed with fear as he watched it unfold in his victims. In the name of research he would show the people of Gotham what it meant to fear...
Now he resides hiding away under the Gotham docs, plotting against the city. He has been laying low from the authorities for a long time waiting for the right time to strike. With the FBI breathing down most of the criminals in the cities necks, the Scarecrow thought it best to hide away and wait for the right moment. He waits in silence, not poking his head out for a moment for fear of giving a lead to the police.
More recent: Developed a new Toxin using elements from his fellow professional criminals called The Scarebeast. Now residing in Arkham Asylum.
Current Associates: The Penguin- owes a debt, The Riddler- frien-... acquaintances.
Current Enemies: The Batman, Arkham Asyulum's old board, Gotham Universities board of education.
Other Relationships: Heather Glass
RP Sample: The tension between the two was steadily rising. Dr. Crane ran over the Riddler's methods in his mind over and over. What kind of fear drove this man? His actions, his plans, seemed to be based upon logical reasoning. Whatever fear did drive him, Crane wanted to know, and he would get it out of him.
He was calm, steadying his breathing and preparing for what might happen next. It always starts with a riddle. A this moment it was best not to answer, not that Nigma expected one anyway. Time almost seemed to slow as he listened carefully to Edward explain his reasons for not handing over his weapon although steadily reaching for it. The doctors hands clenched ever so slightly and released. It would have been the perfect storm.
Dr. Crane saw it play in his head, the Riddler would pull out the gun and instead of putting it in his hand put it to his head. It could have all been over with one pull of the trigger. Nothing but a smile could escape from the very thought of this. The movement from Crane would have been beautiful as he demonstrated his art of violent dancing. Slowed down it would have looked like a ballet with his wrists, in one perfect motion to disarm the gun from his hand. The shot would have still left the gun but it would have missed creating a catastrophic event. If they were to survive the sheer force of the explosion. Crane could only imagine himself standing over the Riddler in the ash and the fire and announcing that his Angel of Death has come, and there is nothing left for him but Fear and despair. What a glorious moment it would have been.
But the Riddler was too smart for that. The clip was released and fell into his lap. The very mention of fear from him made the doctor smile. The air returned to the room it seemed as the gun was placed into his hand. Nigma broke the tension as he mentioned the splint.
Holding both the gun and the splint in his hands now the doctor lifted from his seat and walked a short distance to a lab table to place the weapon out of reach.”Tell me Nigma....What is it you fear?” he asked almost rhetorically. It wasn't too often he'd get an answer. While he was there he grabbed a clean rag from a neatly kept folded pile of them. He walked back over and let it fall in Nigma's lap. “You will need this...” Dr. Crane stated as he began to inspect the fracture once again. He would have to move it, it was going to be very painful. He imagined that The riddler would know what the rag was for, to put between his teeth. The doctor stood to Nigma's side and just behind him. In one hand he held the splint ready to put it in place as soon as he determined exactly where the bone was sitting and where it needed to go back.
Gently his hand moved to Nigma's elbow and moved it ever so slightly outward. It would only take seconds for him to determine the fracture from there. Nigma must have an incredible pain tolerance. He wondered just how much he could take. Seeing and feeling the bone slide from where it was for just a moment Dr. Crane knew how to position it.
His hand moved to the backside of the splint and in one motion he slid it to his arm. He bent down a bit for more where he was standing and whispered into Nigma's ear softly. “Are you scared?” Before he roughly applied the pressure to the correct position, snapping it and the plastic splint into place. Using both hands now he pulled the straps tight and adjusted it properly.
After it was over he paused for a moment watching The Riddlers reactions. He wanted to savor every moment, the deed was done but he was a bit rougher than a normal doctor would have been. But it was done correctly, and the fracture would heal with time. Now what was left? The Riddler had gotten what he wanted, now it was Dr. Crane's turn.
