Lisa had just re-filled her water bottle, except that the cap fell down. Water bottle caps always got lost especially when she was around, and Lisa had good hands, most of the time. She brought her bike with her, but the day before she had a muscle that was aching. So she took the day off and rested, then watched some bravo tv show because she had nothing better to do. Today, her muscles were feeling relaxed, no tension and no stress. Stress was always high when Lisa walked into her office, so she took many trips going with detectives to crime scenes, talking to victims, etc. But today was her day off, Gordon and the D.A. had told her that she should rest her conviction rating was still high and her cases were in good hands. Some of the hands had dirty on them, thats why she was filing for a motion to screen every police and SWAT officer in GCPD. She had left the motion on Judge Olivia's desk the other day.
Lisa smiled to the passing people, she had her cell phone on vibrate. The constant distractions could be blocked out for a few days at least. But being the ADA, you always had to be on the job. Thats why she carried the cell phone to keep her updated about what was going on. Lisa passed the street corner with her eyes viewing a man who was riding his bicicyle down the street. The man looked disoriented, as Lisa was turning her head was tilted. Then she stumbled into whatever was around the corner.

Her headset was in, the voice on the other end jabbering on in French at her. It wasn't just the irritated voice that got to her, it was the late night, the little sleep, and the lack of coffee getting to her. Walking along the street, winding her way through the throngs of people was a task in and of itself. But with the other distractions, it was stretching her resolve thin.
Retorting back, Selina paused, nearly being body-slammed by a tall man, her green eyes peeking open at the last minute from a long, languid yawn that she tried to repress with the back of her hand. A few steps to the left and she just caught the edge of a shoulder, but that was even short-lived as she stumbled into someone else. Stating a few apologetic words in French, Selina cut the conversation short as she looked to apologize to whomever she'd ran into.
Glancing up, the dark-haired woman's eyes went wide. It couldn't be. Right? Lisa? Or was it Laura? The hair was hard to miss, the colour was still the same. But no matter, it was the same woman from her second semester Art course.

Lisa apologized, but had a blast from the past it seems, literally. The woman in black hair, she was from the art class that Lisa took that was just something to fill in for. The professor was a nut-job, though Lisa did have one or two good works to show when the art show came along. The name of the woman was hard, but names stook to her brain like signals to her cell phone, it also did help that she had coffee this morning that was good.
"Selina? Oh my god I haven't seen you in what.. ten years?" Lisa was shocked that Selina Kyle was in Gotham. "Still speaking french it seems" Lisa laughed because on many dates or "girls night outs" Lisa would tempt the male and sometimes female waiters with her french, there was one cute guy John Alexander who was a waiter at a nearby restaurant. Lisa had a small crush on him, but Selina had a bigger one. Selina spoke french to him and he fell for her. The next day, let's just say that her glasses were bent and curved.
Lisa gave Selina a hug that was warm and embracing, then stopping back. More people were now walking past them. "How are you?" You seem to be doing well with whatever job you have. God it's been ten years since we have seen each other.
Lisa inwardly exploded with shock and milkd excitement. Though Lisa did remember that Selina and her got into a huge fight, that ended up with Selina slamming the door. Lisa hardly saw her, and when she did Selina would ignore her or lie about leaving. Yet she was still happy to see her, everyone got a second chance, Ten years is a long time for old friends. Things change so the relationship can kindle again, if she doesn't have that grudge against Lisa anymore.

Embracing the woman with mild shock, Selina finally pulled back as she looked over her friend as well. "Lisa! I've been good, and I have to say the same to you, you're looking good! I hate to say, but right now, hell, I need a cup of coffee. Up last night with a contact, and had to get a few things hammered out last night. " Stifling a yawn with her hand again she pointed in the direction she was walking.
"I know of a great little cafe that way, if you're interested. We should catch up. I need it, a break from work, especially with the shut down they have on Gotham." Yes, she knew about the restrictions, but not quite as much as she wanted. One man she wanted to ask about it was currently MIA, and she wasn't about to hunt down Nightwing to query him, either.

Lisa smiled, "Only as good as they keep me working. I don't mind sure, Already three weeks in and I'm finally getting to know this place around, though New York City will always be my home. I just had a cup but I'll go along for the ride." Lisa wanted to catch up with her old pal. Whether it was fate, destiny, chance or luck that they met right now, it was worth spending an hour or two catching up.
Lisa turned around and walked with Selina to the cafe, She kept her eyes moving forward and thinking about something sarcastic or a joke to say to Selina, after all Lisa was the one who brought laughs and timid faces to most people. Then again, she was serious when she needed to be, and that happened often.

"It isn't too far." Selina said once again, pointing in the distance. "I'm shocked, that in the three weeks you've been here, we still haven't ran into eachother." A dumb comment, but Selina inwardly rolled her eyes nonetheless. Discreetly removing her bluetooth headset she dropped it into her shoulder bag, hoping she still looked somewhat put-together despite her near-sleepless night. As Catwoman, none of that mattered. She just slipped into her second skin, and voila! During the day she tried to look put together, hoping that today's ensamble of grey booties, a dark plum colored suede skirt and a black sweater was decent enough, instead of looking thrown together.
It was hard for her to register what Lisa was doing now, considering her college career was picked up overseas, her degree finished in France. But she was still curious as ever, especially considering Lisa mentioned she was only in town temporarily. "What are you doing in Gotham? Fill me in on the details!" Selina exclaimed, holding the door open once they got into the cafe.

Lisa listened with discretion to everything Selina had said. She walked in as Selina held the door, the wait wasn't long. Lisa ordered a hot chocolate. She sat down at a nearby table waiting for Selina. " Well, I'm the new ADA. I left New York to come here, I was needed here more than in Manhatten. I finished Law school at the top of my class. And I'm making friend's here. "
Lisa drank some of her hot chocolate gripping the cardboard and flexible paper of the cup. The chocolatte was hot and Lisa had to stop sipping because it was too hot. Taking her napkin and wiping off the milk that was now burning on her face. The last time she had hot chocolate it was winter and she had stayed in her office because of the snowstorm in Manhatten.

The admission brought Selina's eyebrows up. Shit. It was almost like she had some sort of attraction for this sort of thing. "Wow. I guess after I left for France, we really did loose contact. What is little ol' Gotham doing that is requiring your expertise here? It couldn't be the criminal underbelly, or the Mafia scum, could it?" She was deadpanning as she waited until Lisa ordered to procure her own drink-coffee with a few extra shots of espresso dropped in. She was going to need it.
Cradling the steaming drink, she moved to the small station where she poured a dash of cream into it; just enough to lighten the near-mud like concoction. Slipping into the seat across her old friend she nodded, thinking on how different their lives were. "I was accepted into the exchange program, finished up my Art History degree at the Sorbonne, and finally found my way back here, and am working." She laughed lightly, glancing at her hands. "What a small world we live in." Selina added softly, reminiscing on those years, her mind spinning.

Lisa's recently dyed blonde hair was short and nicely cut, nice enough to be laying there listening to the conversation. " I was hired by the DA office they took me in after I left New York. And now with the FBI closing down Gotham, my job is becoming harder, but then again it's always been hard only now I'm dealing with more murders and sexual crimes then in Manhatten and Brooklyn." Lisa waited for a minute then took another sip, it was still hot but it wasn't burning.
Her mind was either on the recent case or thinking about Selina. Gosh, it had been a long time since they talked or even noticed one another. "What's your job here, not history, no matter how many men you slept with, you would still get those answers." No one was noticing their conversation. People were being mindful, though that last comment did make Selina soun't like a slut. No she wasn't, but she did have this edgeness and wild side that attracted too much attention. Most men couldn't handle a woman that was bad and smart.

The last comment made her almost sputter her coffee everywhere. Wide eyes glanced to her friend, a napkin held to her mouth. "I'm a security consultant for a small firm. I tend to do field work on how a client can secure their home better, and I appraise pieces." Clearing her throat with another sip of the bitter coffee she shrugged, leaning back in her chair.
"I'll admit, it's nothing like college was, and it's certainly not as prolific as covering crime in Gotham and other cities, but I'm content with it." Smiling at Lisa, the corner of her mouth quirked up. "Not to say I don't like to have fun now and again, but it's nowhere near the caliber of those semesters in college. Trust me on that. Now it's paperwork and research, shuffling times and meeting deadlines."

Lisa was unsure of this new job, she knew Selina was smart. But she was sure that the lava was still under the packed Volcano, no matter what age Selina would be fun and crazyness co-exist and can never be separated, sort of like Salt and pepper. Lisa couldn't but help to let out a laugh, "So the crazy college girl is now the desk and pencil manager, that's a riot in itself, the irony doesn't even amount to those art essays." Lisa wasn't hysterically laughing but the irony and sarcasm was so close that Lisa had to fire her guns at it. Selina was never that type, now if it was a facade or the demeanor that she developed in a decade, that would be different. The reaction and simpleness of that statement amounted to Lisa actually calming down and being slightly more serious.
Lisa was a human being, not a robot, if it wasn't for coffee and sarcasm she would be the tax worker who goes postal when every audit goes missing. She glanced momentarily at a man who walked by, he wasn't very good looking but if this were the college days someone would have asked him out.

Selina raised a finger. "Hey now, I never said that I was desk jockeying paper pusher." Reaching into her bag she slipped out a sleek black business card, a white outline of a cat, and the words "Black Cat Security" on it, with a number beneath it, along with the tagline "We never have bad luck." "It's legit, trust me. Just a neat way to combine what I garnered from college, to keep some exquisite pieces in their rightful places." Selina's cheeks flushed slightly, as the nerd-passion started to come to a head.
Yes, she did steal, but hell, when she didn't she highly advocated art being appreciated properly. "Anyway, enough about me. You're dealing in law and politics, and chasing down the baddies. I knew it was bad here, but what...if I can ask, provoked the shut down here?" Sipping her coffee, she knew this would become interesting, considering they both seemed to be fighting on the same side; to prevent crime.

She looked at the card, "Well, consider it clean for now, you do know that if someone sued your company you would be liable under law unless you specifically said that you wouldn't be which I'm sure you did." Lisa took the card, it did have a cat on it. Selina loved cats, like Lisa, though possibly much more obsessively. She had at least seven cats in her dorm or something. Then the conversation was about Lisa, the spotlight shone on her like a dramatic line from a play.
"Crime and PROTECT ACT of the Unites States. Criminals and vigilantes are being seized without rights and taken to prison, they are declared enemies of the United States and left to rot in their prisons. Increased rates of crime throughout the world provoked congress to enact a bill that was flawed from the start. Though the FBI blatently disagrees with everyone who opposes it and will probably arrest them after the criminals." Lisa felt out of breath, she had just delivered her massive line filled with information. Information, the thing that everyone loved like a caffeine version of cofee, people wanted more and more until they knew too much and were found dead in the river or found jumping off a bridge.
Lisa had thought about a security system, but she lived in a part of Gotham Apartments that wouldn't have room for it. She had barely unpacked everything which was why she was planning on moving into something nicer, something quieter, and something that offered her a place to deal with her problems effectively. In her apartment she could hear people reproducing and bad band music; not fun and not great when you have guests over.

Selina nodded, letting out a low whistle. "Sounds weighty. And yes, the company has solid, iron clad documents signed before any clients are taken on. But...considering you are working to eliminate these criminals and others working out of jurisdiction with the police, if there is anything you'd like me to keep an eye out, well, I'll do so. Consider it a favor for an old friend. I have several contacts to meet with tonight, and I'd rather be aware, than caught off guard, you know."
Setting her coffee down, her brain was spinning like a top. Calculating how far she would be able to tiptoe on the fence this time. Not only with her nightly activities, but now with her public life. As she snapped back to the task at hand, her green eyes locked onto Lisa. "Have you thought of getting Wayne Enterprises to back any of this? Not only monetarily, but possibly with advertising, even. He is such a daft-do gooder, he may go for it."

Lisa did have some words of advice, "Don't trust any of your clients above a business level or else I'll get involved also stay away from Shan industries, Police have evidence of him being linked to the mob, The DA will be prosecuting that case. I would take out all assests linking you to him so that you don't get involved." Lisa then paused when Wayne Industries was brought into this. "Back what? Back PROTECT because that won't help people but only anger them."
Lisa looked down and realized that she had spilled some of her hot chocolate on her pants, guess she'll have to stick those and then do the laundry. This would happen though the stain came out of the chasm of chance. One thing or another, this talk was going well and she felt like those ten years had been nothing.
