Being much older then Bruce, Dick, and Barbara he had called it an early night. Knowing that Bruce was out of town and chances were. No one else would be stopping by or so he had thought at least. Usually he was good about waking up at the slightest soft noise. He was going soft in his old age or trusted the security system. Enough to stop any normal burglar, but he had kept hearing noises.
He moved from his bed and grabbed his shotgun. He of course knew of Bruce's hatred of guns, but at Alfred's age and lack of fighting experience. He had relented Alfred's use of the gun for Alfred's own protection. He knew he had wasted a lot of time checking the manor overly secure. That no normal thief would know about or for that matter even find the cave, but he finally made his was down. As soon as he noticed the lights were on and heard the voices.
Still in the shadows half way up the stairs he frowned. Seeing Tim from behind at one of the display cases. In the quiet large cavern all three would hear the cocking of the double barrel pump action shotgun. An he took perfect aim of the back of Tim's head. In his hardest sounding English accent he spoke. "I can see your rather young son, but unless you have a really good reason for being here.
I'm at the very least going to take out your chances of running out of here." An he brought the gun lower ready to take out Tim's knee. Dick and Barbara knew that even at all most 70 year old. Alfred had the skill to make the shot and would. Despite Tim's age cause of his undying loyalty to protect Wayne Manor.

Dick ignored the looks that Babs was giving about the boy running over and handling the one bat suit. He heard her comment and half laughed at what she said. "Brooding? What are you talking about," he started in on her comment. "Now that you mention it, I don't know if I will be free to go on patrol." He was giving her a bit of a hard time over her comment.
He wasn't really being serious, but wondered what she thought his brooding was about. Dick looked back over at Tim for a moment. The kid wasn't going to harm anything. They had already settled this. Dick's attention was wandering a bit when he thought he heard someone coming down the stairs.
And Dick was right on thinking he had heard someone coming down the steps. There in the stair way stood Alfred with a gun ready and loaded pointed in Tim's direction. Oh, boy, this situation was getting more difficult to handle. Even if it wasn't Bruce, Alfred was a huge threat at the moment with that loaded gun.
From where Alfred was standing, he must not have been able to see him and Babs. Otherwise he wouldn't have been taking aim like that. Dick wasn't about to take any chances. He wasn't about to see the kid loose a leg because of something they were now allowing him to do by looking around.
"Alfred! Hold up," Dick yelled out as he ran out into Alfred line of fire. It wasn't the smartest move, but it was the fastest to take Alfred's attention off of the kid in the batcave that seemed like a threat. Well, to Babs and him, Tim wasn't. But to Alfred, that was a different story since he just walked into the scene.
"It's alright," Dick said, knowing every well it was definitely not at this moment that Bruce had no idea that this was going on. Dick wasn't sure that even if he explained it, that Alfred would side with him and Babs after that. Well, right now he was more interested in trying to protect Tim and get Alfred to lower the run. Dick stood in front of Alfred's aim with his arm stretched out trying to hide Alfred's target he had taken aim at. Dick's bare chest was now the main target that Alfred would be aiming at.
