What Catwoman really wanted to do at that time was to lift Edward by his neck and throw him over a flight of stairs. That wouldn't be practical however, and realizing this upon having the very thought she dismissed it. Even though she was fully aware that she could find help elsewhere, that didn't necessarily mean that she wanted to. It was enough of a hassle finding Edward. To get Batman's attention she'd have to create another diversion, and frankly she felt she was in hot enough water as it was.
Shooting him another glare, Selina ignored the comment about the 'relationship' again. It was an annoyance, nothing more. Of course he would think that. Him and a good majority of Gotham City who actually paid attention to her crimes and how many times he'd caught her, but she got away, or he let her go, or something along those lines. Even if it wasn't completely false, she hated to talk about it. It was a liability not only to her, but to Batman as well.
"Fine. Do what you need to do then. I'll be back for you in a couple of days. If you're not finished by then.." She paused, and turned around, putting a hand on her hip and giving him an unamused sort of look. "I can get help elsewhere.
Just as she was about ready to unwind the whip from her waist and make her escape, he mentioned the fear toxin in her system, and she shook her head with a scoff. "No, I don't." She said matter-of-factly, unwinding the whip finally, and letting the tail of it fall to the floor while she scoured the railings for a decent one to get a grip on. "That stuff apparently got out of my system within hours of the attack. That's what the doctors said, at least." Sounding a little less than convinced, she ignored it. If it still was in her system, she didn't care. It wasn't like she was hallucinating anymore. She could live with it.
His apology resulted in her raising a brow and smirking amusedly. "Uh huh. An apology from you is about the most sincerest thing I could imagine." She commented sarcastically, and rolled her eyes. "Save it for later, Eddie. My poor kittens must be starving by now."

“I'm pretty certain you are not paying me for this,” Edward commented with an annoyed frown, reminding her that she was taking time out of his busy schedule. If she wanted to find help elsewhere, he wouldn’t have a problem with that. Well yes he would since it went against his entire plan, but if he hadn't frame this scene he wouldn’t have a problem with her leaving his life. She did seek him out, which meant ‘help elsewhere’ couldn’t be very appealing.
He listened to her sharp response over the toxin. Even though Selina rejected the idea of toxin, Edward knew it to be true. Crane might have been a bothersome fellow, but he sure knew how to create quite a strong drug. Edward hoped he would never have to experience it, but with his latest issue with the new rogue, he realistically knew it was only a matter of time. You can tip toe on ice, but eventually if you stay on it, it will be break. But Edward would rather have the Scarecrow on his bad side then the Joker any day, so had to be thankful hadn’t infuriated the crazy clown lately. Actually looking back over the past month, he had managed to annoy most of the other so called criminals. He inwardly shrugged as her comment brought him back.
He frowned at her sarcasm. “You know the word sorry rarely steps across my lips. You shouldn’t dismiss it so causally,” he noted. He almost wish he could prevent his past self from uttering the apology, but was reminded of the very reason he had done it when she stressed her interest in leaving. He needed her to have incentive to stay with him. She couldn’t seriously be planning on returning to her apartment that was being watched by the police? “You do realize all of your cats were taken to the shelter when the GCPD raided your apartment,” he informed her of the news he caught in the paper. He actually was thankful that the GCPD were doing their job, it made his even easier. If she had no reason to go back to her apartment, she wouldn’t.
Still, he needed to come up with a plan if she still avoided his home. Blackmail possibly? He would just have to drag out the investigation as long as he could until he figured out a way to get the information he desperately wanted.

"Of course not. Your payment is not being used as a human scratching post by the time we're finished." Selina said with an odd glint in her eye, smiling a little to herself. It wasn't like she couldn't pay him. She had the money, and what she lacked in cash she made up for in valuables that could be sold relatively quickly. Or maybe he was more of a 'favors' kind of guy. Even though she assumed that the 'favors' he would hold her up to would be more along the lines of blackmail instead of actual things she could do for him to make up her 'debt' she owed him.
Quite honestly Selina hadn't given the toxin much of a second thought lately. The last she'd remembered it interfering was back when she'd had that talk with the Bat's oldest string, Robin. If he even was Robin anymore. She hadn't recalled seeing the Boy Wonder around much, but then again she hadn't even seen Batman around all that much. Maybe he was finally realizing that he was more of a hinderance than a help to Gotham City. That he wasn't really protecting anything all that valuable to begin with, and even then, having to do it in a bat costume in itself was kind of a fail. Maybe. Hopefully. Probably not.
Inwardly scoffing at his comment that she should've taken his apology more seriously, she rested a hand on her hip and shifted her weight a bit, staring at him and trying to almost look into his mind maybe with how intently she was staring. "Whatever you say, Edward." She responded somewhat playfully this time, and gave a shrug to his attempt to perhaps stop her from returning to her own apartment. "They couldn't have gotten them all. It's not like I really own any of them. They're strays, come and go as they please. .. Not that I expect you to care." Catwoman adjusted the goggles over her eyes before she snapped the whip either which way out of what could be described as a nervous tick, the notion that some of her so-called 'kittens' were taken to some horrible shelter where most of them would be put down actually instilling a decent amount of nervousness in her.
"All the more reason, anyway. I have to make sure they're okay." Not really, since cats could take care of themselves perfectly fine, but it would comfort her to know that she'd actually seen that they were okay. But after a moment's thought, the same smile from earlier returned, and she glanced back over to Edward. "You just don't want me returning to a crime scene, right?"

A scratching post? Pfft. Her threat was basically ignored. He had no need to fear Selina. She might have had a large amount of knowledge for security systems and their weaknesses, but she was not nearly as intelligent as him. The main proof of that fact sat in front of them. He flipped her life into a mess with only a few well placed items. She was like a mouse scurrying around a maze for the piece of cheese only to stupid to realize there was no cheese at all. So he took Selina’s threat as a bluff because even if she tried she wouldn’t accomplish anything.
When she talked about the cats, he barely paid attention. Her last statement was true. He didn’t care. Cats didn’t bother him, and he didn’t bother cats. It was a neutral disinterest. He couldn’t particularly care if they end up in the shelter and were killed through some type of lethal injection. Cats didn’t possess brain power, and therefore deserved as much attention as a piece of trash in the gutter. Her end question though hinted that his statement seemed suspicious to her. Suspicion was the last thing he wanted to bring upon himself so early in his plan.
“I was only pointing out the illogical part of your choice, but if you want to risk getting caught it’s not me behind bars,” he stated with a shrug, “I won’t have to struggle over the puzzle of why you didn’t show when you don’t appear at the next site.”
The only difficulty was that this meant Selina would not be staying with him. This changed his plans, but then again, it was only the first night. He would have some time to convince her otherwise.

Raising a brow at Edward, Selina's lips curled into a smirk and she chuckled a little bit. Going back to her apartment would be kind of a stupid thing to do, the more she thought on it. Although she was certain she could evade capture from the police, it'd only add more to making her look like she was guilty of something that she wasn't guilty of. Returning to the scene of a crime, no matter how stealthy one was, was never a good idea.
"You're right. It wouldn't be you. So don't worry about it." She muttered irritably. This did put a kink in her plans. Without going back to apartment, she'd have to find somewhere to stay for the night. It wasn't as if she hadn't made herself comfortable on the streets before at some point in her life, but that was a long, long time ago and she preferred not to have to resort back to that. It'd bring back bad memories and with the toxin still in her system, though she was unaware, the chance of a relapse of the symptoms was increased.
Keeping her eyes on her claws for a moment, Selina tapped them against the side of the doorway and let out a sigh of breath. "what would you suggest then, genius?" She asked, the last word not really being a compliment but more or less a mockery. Though, she kept her tone neutral so really he could determine it to be either or.

He smirked. When was Edward not right? The feeling of frustration over having to make a new plan changed to confidence over his methods. He could manipulate any person to his whims, including Catwoman. He was not only the master of riddles, but the master of words as well.
Her snarky sarcastic remark on his intelligence was basically ignored. He was a genius and her question only proved that. “I’m sure you have friends with your charming attitude,” he drenched the last part in sarcasm. It was only fair he insulted what she saw as a talent. He also didn’t want to straight up invite her to his place. It would be suspicious and chase her away not only from his home but from the investigation as well.
“I’m sure Harley would offer, though the Joker was never a spectacular host,” he said with a condescending smirk. He imagined Catwoman dancing around the ceiling of the Joker’s home as he shot at her like a carnival duck game. Yes, that would be funny.
“I would offer you my place, but I would like to wake up in the morning knowing all my precious artworks are still in place," he added after a moment. It was best to show a woman rejection so she became fascinated with what she couldn't have. It also was smart to remind Selina that he was a theft himself, and had rare item no one else had. Though only a few of those items were actually located at his apartment, but Selina didn't know that.

"Of course I do." Selina added with a smirk, to the comment about her having friends. Obviously. She was still Selina Kyle. Even if they were half-hearted, fake friends that really only served as shield from her 'real' Catwoman life. Yeah, she had friends. None that she could really rely on though. Batman was the closest friend she had, she expected. Oddly enough, considering they were also heated enemies most of the time.
"As if I'd even consider that. I don't need to see that." She commented with a disgusted look on her face. No. She wouldn't stay with Harley and Joker if the bubble-headed blonde threw the notion at her. In fact, she'd probably turn herself in to the authorities before she did something like that.
His last offer had her pondering it for a moment, tilting her head and lifting her chin up between her thumb and forefinger. "Not a bad idea, Edward." She said, and chuckled. "Art isn't really my thing. As long as you don't have any pretty jewels laying around.. I think we'd make good roommates."

He had to force the calculating smirk not to appear on his face. Easy...to easy....
He let out a laugh. "Roommates? Do you actually expect me to trust you around any of my things?" he said honestly. He turned away from her and started walking out the door, "If you can figure out the puzzle of my apartment building, I'll have enough respect for you to stay a few nights." While his apartment was a security strong hold he had no doubt she would be successful, but because of his words she would have no reason to become suspicious.
He would be seeing her later tonight. "Night, Selina," he stated back to her and headed towards the stairs.

"Now, why wouldn't you trust little old me? Have I ever steered you wrong?" She asked in the form of a purr, and grinned at the sight of what looked to be Edward trying not to grin.
Puzzles were never really her strong point in the literal sense. However, she was damn good at solving the mysteries of how to break into places and rob them blind. The same could be said for just breaking into places and not necessarily leaving with anything. She needed protection from the cops. She needed a place to lay low, a place just to stay for a few days while she sorted this mess out. As much as she hated to admit it, she needed Edward.
"I'll be seeing you a little later, Edward." She replied, but stuck to the alley so that she might find a better escape.
