As the sunset in the west, Commissioner Gordon still sat at his desk buried within the many cases that were being followed up by the Gotham City Police Department. There wasn't a case that Commissioner Gordon didn't know about that was record within the GCPD. That was his job, and it was his business to know what was going on in the city. Even if it meant keeping an eye on his fellow officers and the politics in this city. As long as Gordon was running the show, there was no way he was going to allow the GCPD to become an even more corrupt system than it had been when he had first started. He took every action that he could to make sure everything was running in a lawful manner. Even though he did look to some outside help from the Batman. Their goals were pretty much the same for this city, to at least make a difference and get it headed in the right direction as long as they were around.
Gordon was accustom to spending many long nights in the office. He was a focused man, and once started on something, he often didn't stop until he was satisfied with the results he could accomplish. After sitting hunched over his work for hours, he was finally drawing himself out of his trans from his work. Gordon sat back in his chair and looked over at the clock. He was getting done early this night, even though he had worked four hours past his scheduled shift. That wasn't uncommon for him though. But now that he had made a step forward in some of his work, he was more than please to step away from his work for the night and head home.
Commissioner Gordon stood up from his seat and turned off the over hanging lamp on his desk. He had hardly used his computer at all, in fact he had shut it off almost two hours ago when he had though he was ready to leave before he stumbled across something else. It was easy for Gordon to fall right back into his work if something caught his eye, but for now he was going to call it a night and head home.
Stepping away from his desk, he pushes his chair in as he takes his trench coat off the back of it and slides it on. Gordon grabbed his briefcase from beside a filing cabinet near his desk and headed toward his office door. And of course on his way out, he grabs his hat and places it perfectly on his greying head of hair.
His keys jingled as he locked his office door and heads down the hall way. It felt good to be heading out a bit early that night. Maybe he would actually have time to spend with his daughter Barbara for once. It had been a long time since he had just sat down with her and talked. And ever since she started seeing Bruce Wayne's ward, he did have to admit, he didn't see her quite as much as he used to. Though, Barbara studying hard was a large factor in that as well.
Commissioner Gordon said his byes for the night to the night crew as he headed out of the police station. He had parked his car a few houses down the road that day. For some reason this morning there had been a lot of people coming in the office more than usually and he was forced to park further away. Gordon hadn't minded, he wasn't going to put up a fuse for not being able to park in his usual spot. He honestly didn't mind the longer walk that night. It was a rather pleasant night out. As he walked, there was a sudden movement within the alley a few buildings down from the police department that caught his attention.
