| Intro Song: Link. | Andra hadn't been at Gotham State University long, but she had already made a few friends. She stood amidst a group of girls, taking turns telling jokes. Classes were out early for the night, and students were leaving. She and her new friends had stopped to wait for another still stuck in class.
She giggled at a joke, a bit of her hair falling in front of her face. She tucked it back behind her ear, averting her eyes to catch a glimpse of others in the courtyard, before turning her attention back to the girls.
“Hey... what's that?” One of the girls pointed over Andra's shoulder. She turned, catching sight of a metallic object in the distance. It suddenly moved, students scrambling to get away from it. It was a five-foot skeletal robot (link), and it was staring directly at Andra.
“Run. Just... start running...” Andra's voice was soft, but her friends didn't need to hear it anyway. They bolted, as Andra tentatively took a step back. The robot reacted by taking several aggressive steps forward as the courtyard cleared out around them.
It didn't look like one her mother's, or Lex Luthor's. She didn't have access to the Cadmus database, unlike her mother, so she couldn't tell if it was one of Ivo's or Morrow's. It could even be an unknown, for all she knew. Regardless, she was certain it was after her.
She could tell by the glowing red LED light glued to her body. |

Finally, night classes were over and heading out for the night. For some reason, the night classes felt like the hours dragged out longer than the usually day lectures did. Well, to Dick Grayson, he was always waiting for the clock to say the time that classes were over. Especially, in the evenings, Dick was always waiting for the time to come and go on patrol for the night.
Dick grabbed all his books and shoved everything into his backpack, as soon as the professor had dismissed the class. It had felt like he had been in that class all day, when it had only been three hours. Dick stood up and followed everyone else out of the class. He half hoped he'd be able to run into Babs at some point this evening. He couldn't recall if she had any night classes that evening. But it would be nice to see her face again.
Walking at a steady pace to leave the building, Dick stepped out of the science center and into the cool spring evening. The lights on the green lite the area in front of the campus's main building. There were many other students walking about, ready to head home or back to the dorms for the night.
Then, he heard some one yelling something and saw a group of girls running away from something around the corner of the next building. Dick could see the panicked looks on there faces. Something was definitely not right. Dick jogged over lightly as he saw a few more people running away.
Dick stopped and peered around the corner and saw a girl with blonde hair stepping back from what looked to be a large robot creature of some kid. Boy, it had been a while since he had faced anything like that in Gotham. Dick didn't recall ever seeing anything like it. What a time for this to happen...Dick would have any time to be in his Robin suit. Looks like Dick Grayson was going in.
He could see the robot seemed to be focused on the girl, so Dick ran forward toward her. There was only one thing he could do at that moment and that was try and get her out of there. He couldn't just pull out one of his weapons at that moment. That would be a dead give away. Dick ran to the girl and grabbed her hand. "Come on," he said, it wasn't the bravest thing to do in the world, but he had a plan to deal with the robot. First things first, was to get the girl out of harms way.

| The red LED light rotated, looking off to Andra's left. She quickly looked too, seeing Dick just as he came up to her. The robot looked back to her, intent on eliminating her right then. Andra glanced down at her hand as Dick grabbed it.
“It's after me. You shouldn't-” Before she could get any more out, a small red beam tore across the ground to her right, burning a thin but deep line into the ground, going as far as to cut cars in half in the parking lot many yards behind her as it arced up from the ground.
As worried as she was that she might get him hurt, Andra was also frightened enough not to want to be running from this thing on her own. She gave him a fearful look, willing to follow if and when he started running. The robot took a few steps forward, waiting for the laser to charge back up.
“We have to lure it away from populated areas...” The robot started to move toward them. |

[/b] Babs called, sprinting over toward him, eyeing the robot. If she was in any other position - perhaps clad in her Batgirl outfit - this moment would go down very differently. She didn't want to make it seem weird by grabbing the girl and leaving Dick to fend for himself, but she was sure he could hold his own if she could only remove the girl from the situation. She glanced across at him as she hurried up, hoping to find a signal from him, something as slight as the smallest of nod maybe, to indicate she could grab the girl and run. [/ul]

Dick knew the machine was going to follow after them. There was no doubt about it in his mind. What he knew was that he had to get her away from here as well as the machine. He knew it before she even said it out loud.
"There's no way I'm leaving you behind," he said holding on to her arm lightly as they ran. It's what he lived for. He never left any one behind if he had the chance to protect them. Even if it meant doing so as Dick Grayson. It was just who he was. He couldn't just sit back and watch others try to control the situation themselves.
Dick knew he had to think of something and quick. There was no way he could use any of his skills or small gadgets he usually carried with him. There were too many people around and this girl was right beside him. Otherwise he would have acted in a more productive way than he was at the moment. But getting the girl out of the situation was the main concern, but getting the large robot out of the area was another. It was too unsafe for the public to face something like this. Especially after seeing the weapons the robot had to use against them.
Then Dick heard the voice of Babs calling out to him. Dick glance over, letting her know he had noticed her. He need to think quick and it was a bit hard on this situation. He then had one thought come to him at that moment. "I have an idea," he said to the girl beside him.
"Babs, get her out of here," Dick shouted out to Babs. He wasn't going to stop running until the girl was safe and now Babs would have to be. Dick would try to find away to stall the robot. He knew he might be able to disable it if he could get to the control panel on it. He always carried a small computer programing system that help to over ride any systems it met, or at least disable it temporarily.

| Andra's eyes went off the robot to the boy that was almost dragging her away. She was worried, but he seemed like he knew what he was doing. He must know the area better than her, and have somewhere in mind to lead the robot to.
“Oh, but... I...” Andra tried to protest, to take back her acceptance of his help, but she couldn't get the words out in the heat of the moment. The situation was somehow seeming less dangerous for her, as if she were in capable hands. Her eyes went to his hand, still wrapped around hers as they ran.
A feminine voice caused her eyes to shoot up, noticing Barbara Gordon as she came near. Dick acknowledged her arrival, and seemed ready to hand Andra off to this girl. She was about to protest, to stress that they stick together. However, when she glanced back at where the robot had been, it was gone.
“It's gone. Where did it-” Gravity forced the robot back to the ground. It had apparently jumped into the air while she wasn't looking, only to come crashing down a foot or so away from her. The ground was displaced beneath and around the robot as it landed, resulting in Andra almost losing her balance and forcing her to let go of Dick's hand as she stumbled back.
The small laser canon started to hum as it aimed toward her. Andra quickly stepped to the side. If the laser hit her, it would go right through her. She didn't want the other two to be in the line of fire. |

[/b] Babs barked, perhaps more harshly than she'd intended. She started to head off, still holding onto the girl and hoping she'd co-operate and follow. Babs glanced back at Dick, hoping he'd managed to formulate himself a valid plan as she tried to get the girl out of harms way - although it seemed like the robot was aiming for the girl. Was running even going to do anything? It seemed like there was an intent behind it, but Babs couldn't stick around to find out. The way the girl had stepped to the side had been telling, she thought. Either way, she needed to give Dick the time to tackle it, but she didn't want to leave him alone, and part of her hoped the girl wouldn't co-operate, to allow her to stay with Dick, but the other half begged her to run, to give Dick a chance to tackle the problem without interference.[/ul]

Before he had a chance to see what Babs was up to, he looked back when the girl had said the robot was gone. Just like she said, the robot was no longer behind them. But where had it gone? Within a few seconds, the answer fell near to them. Dick felt the girl let go of his hands. He turned toward her, but it had been so sudden that he hadn't gotten the chance to turn and try to save her.
Luckily, the girl was quick enough to react. The robot seemed to be after the girl. But what would a robot want from her? It seems to be out to destroy her. When there is a robot out to get some one, there was always someone that programmed it to take on the dirty work. The next question would be, who was after the girl and why?
Right now wasn't the time to try and think of the whys and who's behind the situation. He needed to focus on the now and not the then. The only problem would be to keeping it as low key as he could. There were things about him and his skills that would give away his possible secret identity. But it didn't mean that he wasn't going to try and see what he could do.
Dick saw that Babs was now leading the girl away from the scene. Good, this would give him the chance to act and react to the situation. Dick knew he needed to find the robot's main computer system in order to try and shut it down. He wasn't the man of steel, so trying to rip off any parts were out of the question for Dick. He needed to use what he had on him. And at this point, it wasn't much. He only carried a few things, but he always had some type of computer overriding device. Yeah, how lucky he was to do so? It just so happened that he found it handy when he needed to get into locations undercover when he worked on his own.
Looking at the large robot, the only way it seemed to try and override the computer system was probably some where located in the head. The only problem was that the robots head was cover well. So the only way was to some how get either on it's back or underneath it if possible. Dick ran behind the robot. He figured it might just try to keep an eye on the girl it was after. So it might give him the chance to log the computer override device into the robot's system. Dick kept an eye on the robot as he quickly slipped his backpack off his back and dug into the one side zipped that was hidden and pulled out what he needed. He put the small device into his pocket, looking for a chance to approach the robot and attack the main computer operating system.

| The air was knocked out of Andra as she was tackled to the grass. She let out a soft groan and started to get up, but was helped the rest of the way by Barbara, who started to pull her away from the robot.
Unfortunately for Dick, the robot was not as single-minded as he had hoped. As he rounded it, the robot's head followed him. Rather than charging as it did before, the robot fired its laser at him immediately. Instead of a high-powered laser that cut through cars, it was a series of less-than-lethal bursts that would knock the boy off his feet and send him a few yards away with painful laser burns.
Also unfortunate for Dick, The metal panels covering the robot's head were thick and almost impenetrable. To expose the circuitry and wiring underneath would require tremendous strength, explosives or a great enough impact.
“Wh-what about him?” Andra worriedly watched the boy as she stumbled after Barbara, who still had hold of her. She did not want him to get hurt, yet he seemed very capable at the moment. Both he and Barbara seemed very calm and in control of the situation, which baffled Andra.
She heard the laser fire, and hoped he had not been hit. She wanted to go back for him, but the robot had already started to move in their direction. If he was still alive, he should survive long enough for them to lure it away. Andra had no idea that as Robin, Dick could endure the injuries and still fight.
“Wait... head for the parking lot, my car is there!” By now the parking lot had only a few cars remaining, aside from the ones the robot cut in half. One of the intact cars was her own. If she could get to it, her car could be driven into the robot while it was preoccupied, damaging it and hopefully impairing its ability to move.
Luckily, her car was the closest. It was a blue 2008 Dodge Charger Super Bee (link) that her mother had bought her. Andra was a bit worried at how C.C. might react to the car being used to fight a robot, having no idea that C.C.'s own car had already been destroyed, many miles away on a bridge.
The problem was the robot. She was its primary target. If she was driving the car, it would simply cut it in half. Barbara could drive it while Andra distracted the robot, but she might have to bail out of it while it was speeding toward the robot.
“Do you think you could drive it into the robot while I distract it, and bail out before it hits?” Andra fished into her pocket for her keys. |
