The responsibly of superpowers was never ending. And neither were the headlines in the papers. One day negative, one day positive. Always focusing in on the heroes. People who seemed for the law or working outside the lines of the law. And Kara found herself in the in-between. With the Outsiders, that was beyond what she had ever done for the Justice League.
What was she going to do about all this. People still question Supergirl's influence in the world. Lex Luthor being one that questions her cousin more so than here. She knew about his theories. It's wasn't hard to figure it out from an 'aliens' point of view.
Kara saw down at a booth and saw the morning paper with a article of a mission she had taken on from the JL. The one paper she saw this morning had something positive. Then the one she grabbed walking it said about the damage and question her actions. Supergirl a threat. Not as in control as Superman. Always with the comparing.
She glanced over the other articles in the paper. There wasn't much else going on. A few large fairs in other countries and such. Local events as well.
It was just a morning out for Kara to relax for a bit. Sitting in a booth by herself, the fake lenses in the glasses gave her no trouble unless there were fingerprints on the glass. Her long blonde hair was pulled back into a ponytail.
Just an average girl on an average Monday morning.

Kara had hardly been sitting there for a few minutes before a waitress came to take her order. It was an older woman in a light pink dress with an apron on. The typical small town look to these diner. The kind you might find on a road trip. Kara wasn't complaining, she wasn't in the mood to be in a cafe.
The problem she found with being in a cafe was that people were always on their cell phones of computers, yacking away and drinking there cafe. It was the constant ringing, vibrating, clicking, and conversation lines that could drive Kara crazy. Sometime in the morning, it was harder for her to shut out the world around her, sound wise.
And for someone with super hearing, it could really give you a headache after a while. Well as close as an annoyance to a headache that Kara could explain. The late nights with the Outsiders could wear on you after a while. She wasn't like the humans with how they needed sleep. She very much so needed to be out in the sunlight. Sleep definitely felt nice of course, but it was the sun's light that help reenergize her system. Food was just a plus in the morning for more fuel.
Kara ordered a simple scrambled eyes and toast with a cup of orange juice. Coffee was alright, but it had little to no effect on her, just as alcohol had no effect on her kind.
As the waitress walked off with her order in hand, Kara pulled out her cellphone to see who might be up. Texting this early in the morning might be a problem for some, but Kara was up and a bit bored.
She sent a text to Clark first -Morning cuz, anything new in your end of town?
She then scrolled through her text and saw there had been one conversation left unanswered to Roy. She decided to text him back - "Really hope you aren't trying to sleep atm. Just wanted to get back to you and say that yes, Wednesday works fine.

Clark was trying to sleep, of course, it was hard though, with the various sounds of the city. He'd tried earplugs at one point, but of course they didn't do much to block his hearing or block out the light. Over the years he'd learned to tune it out, to just sleep through things, to fight on until he was tired enough to catch some sleep. Sometimes he'd go into the depths of space, sometimes not. Mostly he lay in bed and stared at the ceiling, waiting for sleep to overcome him. He'd always had trouble sleeping, honestly, even though he hadn't had the problems when he was younger, of waking up on top of the covers. . . six feet on top of the covers. Power incontinence was something that still worried Clark in the back of his mind, constantly as he touched the world as if it were in some sort of kabuki tea ceremony, every movement pre-planned and careful, ever so careful, to prevent destroying it.
He walked on eggshells constantly, and it was something that he'd just gotten used to over the years, along with tuning out the constant screams and cries and conversations of a city. Clark waited, and then exhaled, turning to his side and trying to fluff the pillow a bit listening to the argument down the hall. The buzz of his cellphone was a welcome distraction as he finally just gave up and sat up, looking down at the text. He shrugged and then responded.
"Honestly, nothing really."
He added "You're up early. What are you up to? Breakfast?"
Eh, forget it, sleep was done. Clark got up and started to get ready for the day, it didn't take long, frankly. The advantages of super speed, he finished by the time the message actually sent. Then again, with that text, maybe she wasn't doing much. He poked his head out the window, then looked around. Up the fire escape then a jump into the air then down.
Yeah, she actually looked alone and bored, she had a different heart beat, easy to pick out in a crowd. Eh, what the heck, might be worth visiting her. "I haven't eaten yet, you want company?" He texted and then started to make his way across town. If she said no, he'd get something else nearby, then head out to work, although frankly he didn't have much to do today. He'd submitted his stories last night, and was waiting for a callback on another one. One of the advantages of reporter work is that he could come in and out of the office as needed, even miss work. He didn't have a lot of needs, frankly, and the few times he REALLY needed money, it wasn't really that hard for him to get. He could make diamonds out of asphalt, after all.
He was outside the diner a minute later, straightening his glasses and his tie as he walked out of the alleyway. Bacon sounded good today, actually, and frankly he hadn't been to this diner in a while. Or seen his cousin.

Kara was taking a sip of her orange juice when her phone vibrated on the table. Putting down the cup, she grabbed for her cell and read the text. Good, Clark was up.
She started to text a response - "Wasn't out late last night. Too noisy to actually get any more rest. Nothing much going on. And yeah, diner.
Putting the phone down again for a second, she glanced out the window. She could still hear the construction workers down the way from where she sat. They had been at it since 5am. Just what she had needed after a night patrol with the Outsiders. Outsiders were still on a low key against the JL.
Another text came through a moment later.
She replied -Be my guest.
It didn't take her long to be able to tell that Clark was near by. From where she sat, the blonde looked up to see her cousin heading towards her. She gave a slight smile of acknowledgement of his arrival. She wasn't quite the type to jump up and wave her arms around to get peoples attention, unless she was in a very cheerful mood.
She was obviously a bit tired. She was sure Clark would have picked up on the construction work noises as well. A Kryptonian's hearing could only take so much of these noises when they were in a bad mood. And tired on top of that.
"You know, sometimes I wish coffee would actually have an effect on us. I'd probably have to drive gallons of it though. Still doubtable," Kara spoke up as her cousin walked over.
She left the paper sit folded on the table, off to the side. And her phone not too far off as well. At that time, she only had an orange juice on the table.
