A Piece of the Puzzle [Catwoman]

Gotham. Still the Batman's turf, though Nightwing followed suit on missions in this field. It was needed at this time. Ancient artifact could bring a hefty price on the black market at times. And it was well known fact to the Bat-family that sometimes these shipments carried more than what they appeared to be hiding.

It was from an anonymous tip, that sent Nightwing out on this lone wolf mission. If Arsenal was going to continue being mad over recent events, that wasn't going to stop him in the mission field. He knew his ways around finding out about mission work that might otherwise go to the Outsiders no matter how small the work seemed.

This piece had come from the Middle East. It had been in a museum in London prior to being stolen and finding its way almost all the way to the land of it's origin, Egypt. Yep, that right. This piece was a very rare. Though it was slightly on the smaller size, it make it easy to conceal from the public to just hide the medium size statue that only stood about five inches tall. It had a good weight to it along with what the price was asking. The piece was of an Egyptian cat made completely out of silver. And it was a rare find. It being a 'white' metal made it all that more rare a find in Egypt of the artifacts that survive all these years. And not only was it silver, it had insets of emeralds over the body of the cat.

It was a rare find and a highlight of any Egyptian collector who manage to own such a piece that was in such find condition after being lost for over 5,000 years.

And on the black market it had a larger price since this piece was on display for it's rarity. This make the item more known to potential buyers.

This wasn't the only reason Nightwing had come. The shipment was hiding come important technology that in the wrong hands would allow for a new virus coded system the former owner did not dare to run from where they were. They wanted it in the main from of any large government computer they could get.

Such they could hack the system, but having friends in faraway places was paying of from these hacks. And potential threats. The notice was somewhere in the packaging of the artifact. So either the bidding would be rigged or it was going to be handed off as soon as it hit the American soil. Which it had. And only left Nightwing with a small window to get the artifact and get out.

So Nightwing found himself at a lesser known small time meeting and trading location to some of the highest leagued gangs held refuge to their shipped stolen goods. It was a smaller warehouse off set from the usually locations of shipments. And it was lesser known to the public because of this. Which in turn made it perfect for these crimes to take place.

The less people know about, the easier it was to get around the laws.

Nightwing sat just outside of the place upon the rooftop of a building adjacent to the building that housed the shipment.

Why. Why is usually what was asked when someone got caught. She hated answering the question, so she tried to avoid getting caught. But if she was caught this round out and about prowling the rooftops. But she wasn't planning to get caught. Now with the stakes that were at play in this instance. There was more than a delectable piece of property that she had to get her hands on. And then her standard M.O; get in, get out, and get gone. Not with anyone having seen her, and with the goods.

Especially considering it was feline themed, she hadn't been as prone to taking it. She had more than enough feline themed items in her home. But this was some specific metal, adorned with emeralds. Beautiful, and rare. But something was off about it. How cloak and dagger the entire shipment had been, and beyond that, how the tip had came to her. It reeked of something, but she hadn't been able to nail it down. And considering she had been working more with Oracle, her whole idea of 'theft' had been shifting. Maybe this was another one of those endeavors, and there was a much, much larger picture. And she was only a piece of it.

Either way, she was already halfway en route to the location. From her instructions, it would be delivered, heavily guarded, and the whole thing was going to be precarious. And if there was one sort of theft Catwoman liked, it was one that was deemed near impossible.

Then again, no one usually suspected a cat. Nor would anyone think of a ragged looking woman in a trench coat and tall, over the knee leather boots, makeup applied like a mask. No, not imitating a female Joker, but a woman of the night, doing whatever she could to secure money for her next fix. Not that she did her makeup with a heavy hand, but it did resemble a whore, somewhat, when she didn't have her cowl on. Thick winged eyeliner, several extra coats of mascara on her already thick lashes, Ruby Woo (of course) on her lips. And with her thick hair rumpled by removing her own cowl and stuffed into her hip bag, all she needed to do was unfold the trench-coat and slip it on, disguising her black bodysuit and giving the appearance she had on risque thigh-high boots.

Indulgently, she pulled the pack of cigarettes from the trench's pocket, lighting one two blocks from the location. She had to start her con early, and she had. Showing up for two weeks prior, same get-tup, making a few bucks here and there for information, and nothing more. Trading in secrets of the underworld, she'd made an impression as Gina. Brash and bold, she'd been allowed to stray closer and closer, even as more and more security in the form of bulky men was added. Men who were always willing to let her bum a cigarette or a light when she needed it, if she'd only sit on their lap, or trade a secret or two.
