The fall season was about to begin in Gotham city, only a few more days and it would no longer be summer. This meant a whole sleuth of things for Gotham city. There would be many visitors coming in to Gotham through the Gotham city airport. Visitors coming to Gotham for a wide array of reasons. The holiday season, to see family. Some even came to see the leaves change color. The airport was one that belonged to a major city. Always busy, always filled with the sounds of people coming and going. It was one of the busiest places in the city. Not only did it have a solid number of people flying into Gotham it also was a main hub for cargo transportation. Gotham was home to businesses like Wayne Tech as well as a brand new branch of Lexcorp. This meant that many things came in by air and sea. The more expensive and valuable things went by air. Putting the fruits of a multi-million dollar project on a transportation barge didn't seem all that safe to some. To someone like Lex Luthor, transporting expensive projects was a very important matter. Only the most sophisticated method of transportation.
And that at the time, was flight.
Gotham city airport, Friday. 8:47 pm.
"We've got precious cargo coming in from the Metropolis branch of Lexcorp." A man wearing a LexCorp jumpsuit handed over a packet paperwork to the security official of Gotham Municipal Airport.
"Yes, I know." The man smiled before drawing his weapon, shooting the man in the head. The employee of LexCorp tumbled to the ground, dead. It was now apparent that the real head of security at Gotham Municipal Airport was most likely dead. Perhaps dumped in a ditch somewhere. The truth of the matter that he was a lot closer than one might think. Stuffed in his own locker by whoever was now wearing his rather itchy uniform.
The pistol had an added suppressor and they were also on a landing strip separate from the one used by the main public. So needless to say the operation staged by a group of Eastern European terrorists to steal a highly sought after piece of equipment developed by Lexcorp was going well thus far. No one has been alerted of their presence. Everything was going according to plan. That was of course, until a security member under LexCorp walked down the ramp leading off the plane to see one of his co-workers dead, as well as several uniformed men. His first instinct was to open fire. The four men that were around the plane returned fire, rendering the security guard dead in seconds.
He knew they would have killed him anyway, the way he thought is that maybe he could get lucky and take one of the terrorists with him. Unfortunately all four members were wearing bulletproof vests as well as leggings. That was the bad news for the security guard. The bad news for the Eastern Terrorist group with no name is that the security guards weapon had no suppressor. Even if they were at a landing strip farther from the main terminal the gun shots were still heard by the public. This sent the entire area into a wide panic. However this wasn't that much of a set-back. They could fly the plane out of here, or perhaps not. Any plane that would take off after the sound of gunfire would be immediately tagged by US Armed forces.
"Лайно" The man in the security uniform muttered. He now had a problem. However it was good that his men were stationed all over the Gotham City airport ready to strike just in case of a problem happening.
"Take as many hostages as you can" The man spoke in Russian to his team of soldiers over the radio. More gunshots were heard. The Airport security were dead in less than two minutes and over fifty hostages were taken by the terrorists. Twelve more had been killed in the firefight that lasted about one minute and thirty seconds. "If these Americans want their precious civilians to come out of this unharmed then they will let us leave. We didn't come here to kill capitalist pigs." The leader of the unnamed terrorist group of former Eastern European military entered the LexCorp cargo plane. Most of the load consisted of useless parts and other stuff for the new Gotham City branch. That is not what they ceased an entire airport for. These men were here for something different. Something that could change the lives of men and women in Eastern Europe. To take down the corrupt governments they were force to live under.
The leader of the group, Sergei Spopovich looked at the metallic green crate with the large bold letters AICS or Adaptive Integrated Camoflage System. A gadget developed by Lex Corp that could render the user completely transparent. It would change the face of infiltration and espionage everywhere. Although there were a few setbacks. They were still prototypes, however this didn't cause any problems for Spopovich and his group of soldiers. They didn't know the full extent of the limitations that the AICS could have. It didn't matter, all that mattered is that someone within LexCorp most likely gave this up. That was the first problem. Spopovich and his crew knew that this would be the best and most likely only time that they would be able to get their hands on such an item. Spopovich got down on one knee and opened the crate. There it was, six of the AICS systems. Him and his upper echelon of followers would be able to utilize these if anything went wrong.
He smiled at the sight of his prize. Even when he heard the police sirens in the distance.

"You're telling me that they seized an entire airport? A group of armed gunmen out of nowhere?" Gordon slammed his phone on his desk before picking it back up and slipping it in his pocket. That was him just hearing about the attack on the airport. His men weren't exactly sure what the attackers were after. All that Gordon did know is that innocent lives were in danger. Innocent lives had already been lost. He had to stop it. The Commissioner knew though that he couldn't do this on his own. Not this time. He needed a special kind of help. A more professional kind of touch to this situation. He knew that he needed the Batman. No one other than the Dark Knight could be able to defuse this situation. As much as the Commissioner hated to admit it sometimes, he needed the Batman.
With his hands on his hips the Commissioner left his office to head up to the Bat Signal. However it was clear that where ever Batman was that he would hear about the attack sooner or later. Although for the Commissioner it would be best coming from him. So they could at least talk about what they might do once they get there. While Gordon was climbing the stairs to the roof he heard his phone ring. Who was calling him? Mayor Sharpe himself, probably to complain about such an event happening. Asking the Commissioner why places like the airport aren't more secure. Usually it would be in his best interest to answer a call from the Mayor. Tonight though the Commissioner didn't feel like talking to him.
And if it bugged Mayor Sharpe too much, then well he could always fire him.
Gordon made his way to the roof. Approaching the all too iconic Bat signal. He moved to switch it on. The bright symbol of a bat shining in the sky.
Now he had to wait. His men were already on their way to the Airport. He hoped that he would get here soon so he could assist them.
They were in danger along with all of those hostages. Although he could always count on the Dark Knight when people were in danger.
Always.
