There was no time for chit-chat. Robin and Batgirl were literally hot on his heels. Arnold Wesker aka the Ventriloquist heard the thunderous blast from Mouse’s shotgun just as he reached the open driver’s side door to the SUV. He did not bother to look back to see the results. With only one good hand, he threw Scarface onto the passenger seat and did not even bother removing the mailbag from his shoulder, resting it on his lap as he sat down instead.
Thank goodness Mouse had left the engine running.
“DON’T MIND ME DUMMY! JUS’ DRIVE!!”
The Ventriloquist obeyed by stomping and holding his foot on the peddle. There was a loud tire screech. They were off. Looking in the rear view mirror, the Ventriloquist witnessed the Boy Wonder throw a projectile which knocked the shotgun from Mouse’s grasp, then in a similar smooth motion tie up Mouse’s feet with some type of cord or heavy rope. Mouse did not even have time to react from the Shotgun being knocked out of his hand before falling to the ground with a ‘thud.’ Robin did not move away from the dumpster for some reason. It looked like Mouse had completed his role in the grand scheme of things.
Sweat dripped from the forehead of the Ventriloquist from all of the excitement. His hands were in the 12 O Clock and 9 O Clock positions as he made a right onto the main road leading towards Gotham City: East. The Ventriloquist began to hyperventilate. He would have to approach representatives from either Rupert Thorne or Carmine Falcone to seek refuge away from the cops for a day or two. That would most likely cost at least half of what they had managed to steal from the purses and wallets of the customers in the bank.
He still had no control over his hand, and he wasn’t sure why. It also appeared Scarface was not speaking to him. That was a bad thing. When the voices were silent, that usually resulted in Arnold being left alone to negative thoughts, that also meant that Scarface would unleash verbal hell once they were back on speaking terms.
The Ventriloquist pulled the SUV into an alleyway, grabbed Scarface, made sure the mailbag was in toe, and began to run. Run. Run. Run until he reached a well hidden speakeasy, and was sheltered in one of Rupert Throne’s wine cellars. There in the damp, darkness, he began to fish through the bag of loot and found something that might have made this entire disaster…more than salvageable.

-Back at the bank, the first squad cars had arrived. Rhino, Mugsy, and eventually Mouse would be subdued and arrested.

Back inside the bank, Nina explains about the gunshot behind the bank the moment there's an officer who doesn't his hands full with Rhino and Mugsy. The second available officer gets directed to the revolver. But mostly she keeps her attention on helping the other victims until someone better at this sort of thing arrives - she's a microbiologist and not an EMT, even though they all had the same basic level of education. Fortunately, the worst injuries seem to be some bumps and bruises on the people most shoved around by Rhino, and the act of making sure that those injuries aren't any worse than they appear is very settling to her nerves.
And yet she can't help but wonder about how the man whose arm she paralyzed is healing. She hated doing that, but she had to keep hold of her briefcase and she had to get out of there alive. The ends clearly justified the means in this case, but still... From the moment she first came to terms with her gift she thought only of how it could be used to help people, and even though she later discovered that was too idealistic that doesn't mean that she doesn't want to follow that ideal.
That mental conflict and the stress of everything that just happened leave Nina wanting nothing more than to go home, try to relax, and move on with her life. But first she has to wait for the police to get the situation fully under control, reassure an EMT that she's perfectly fine when they arrive, and explain to the police what happened so that they can take down a statement. In reality that doesn't take very long, but she's exhausted by the time they tell her she's free to go.

[/b] she said, concern in her voice. She brushed her fiery red hair from her face as she bent down to Robin, wanting to inspect the damage. A wave of worry hit her hard - what if it had been a direct hit on his arm? Luckily, upon closer inspection, it seemed to just be a graze. A very, very lucky graze. She was relieved, and smiled at Robin. "That was close," she commented, with a worried smile. She was still angry about losing the Ventriloquist - and angry about the state of her painful ribs. Never the less, the firedoor swung open and the police went to apprehend the last of the Ventriloquists men. Her mind slipped back to the woman, and she glanced back into the bank. EMTs and police were circling the area, and the woman seemed to have been lost in the raucous. She thought about everything that had happened, and has already decided to herself that this seemed a tad out of the ordinary - the money had to be in aid of financing something. Maybe they could make one of the men talk, although you often found fiercely loyal gang members; mostly those who believed they were valued. "Come on, let's go," Batgirl said, straightening herself up and wincing in pain. Her ribs were definitely going to require some inspection later. However, Robin's arm would take priority for now, and that was her main concern. [/ul][/size]

Robin had not noticed that Batgirl had come out into the alley way just as the Ventriloquist escaped. Before he had the chance to stand, he heard Batgirl call to him and was rushing over. By the tone of her voice, he could tell she was concerned about him. If she hadn't come out right then, Robin would have just gotten up and walked into the bank to find her anyway. Though he probably would have tried to cover the wound, to him it was not a big deal at all. Before he had the chance to say anything, he knew Batgirl had already gotten a closer look at his arm. When a light smile came to her worried face, Robin smiled back.
"I'll say," Robin replied to her comment. He could tell she was tense about the situation. At least everyone was safe, that was the main thing that mattered. Robin stood up just as the police came out of the fire exit and rushed toward the third gang member. He moved his arm a bit and felt a twinge of pain shot up through his muscle. Wincing at the discomfort of it, he tried to not let on to the pain.
Robin was a bit embarrassed about the whole thing himself. He should have known better to assess the situation before he had taken such a risk running into the alley way blind like that. It had cost them the chance to apprehend the Ventriloquist and on top of that, he now had an injury he would have to deal with. Which meant he would have a weak arm for a while. He knew it could have been worse though. The thought that that bullet could have done worse was pushed to the back of him mind right away. Besides, this wasn't the first time he had been shot. Though he would never tell that to Batgirl.
He could tell Batgirl was in pain just by the look on her face as she stood up trying to keep a move on with this new case. There was no doubt that the over sized man's squeeze had done some damage. Trying to lighten the situation, Robin started to say, "It's good to see you in one piece..." His attention was know drawn to the man the police had rushed over to. As the police were walking the man back toward the fire exit, the light that escaped from the doorway now lightened the dark figure that had shot at him. It only took a moment to recognize that man's face. "Hey, I've seen that guy before," Dick said loud enough for Batgirl to hear him. After he had uttered the words, he wished he hadn't said it out loud.
That was the same mug he had seen at park when he had meant that Dr. Isley. The man had taken a picture of them in the park that day. Dick wondered if it had just been a coincidence that it was the same man or if there was something behind this. He though for a moment and shock his head, he was being too paranoid. He looked down at his watch and pressed a few buttons on it. He had punched in the code to activate his motorcycle to auto drive toward their location. He figured they would either be headed out to investigate or go to the Batcave to do some research.
The motorcycle's engine fired up and the headlights came on. The slick black motorcycle squealed as it did a donut turn and sped up, driving out of the alley way. It was now headed toward the bank. The motorcycle could be heard approaching as it was on auto pilot. Rodin turned toward the entrance of the alley way, but then waited for Batgirl. He hoped she wasn't going to protest to him driving with a bad arm. It would be the fastest way to get around if Batgirl wanted to get a move on with the investigation.

The three mooks were hauled away. Mugsy, Ratso, and Rhino. Prior to this event they had maintained their loyalty to the Ventriloquist without question. But after seeing their boss escape, high tail it, run away, or skedaddled at their expense...betrayal is a good word that comes to mind.
(It will take them 24 hours for them to be arrested and then interrogated.)
When questioned--
1.) Rhino will be upset, angry, frustrated, and enraged. He will throw around furniture, bang his fist on the table, and yell in the interrogation room or when Batgirl, Robin, Batman, Gordon question him.
When he calms down he will inform them that the location of their hideout was at the Lucky 7 Casino.
He does not know what the Ventriloquist had planned next. He was simply doing this job for the money and that is it.
2.) Mugsy will be calm during their interrogation. He'll talk about respect, family, and an 'eye for an eye'. It does not take much pushing or pressing for him to reveal the information about the Lucky 7 Casino being their base of operations.
He will also tell them the Ventriloquist was taking an interest in 'metahumans' and their powers, and that they had visited a woman by the name of Pamela Isley a few nights before.
He will claim that the Ventriloquist intended to rob her and that they had 'nothing to do with it.'
3.) Ratso -- Ironically despite the name. Ratso will be the toughest one to crack. He'll remain silent yet nervous.
If pushed and threatened, he will tell them about the Lucky 7 Casino---and that is all "He knows because he is the new guy."
******************************************************
At the Lucky 7 Casino..
--After speaking with the Casino Manager, he will inform those who question him that he rented a room out to "Spencer Berry" a man who fits the description of the Ventriloquist.
The last time he saw Spencer was 4 hours after the Bank Robbery. Spencer had looked flustered, nervous, anxious, and hurried. He cam with three other men and spent an roughly two hours in the back room before leaving.
---Anyone who wants to break into the room will have an easy time doing so. (Rhino and Mugsy will tell them the room number)
Inside of the room you'll find a large circular table in the center and a wooden desk against the left wall. On the table are a number of wallets, credit cards, contents you will find inside of a woman's purse, empty wallets. There will be no cash.
On the desk they will find a disorganized medical profile on a Miss Pamela Isley, which includes this information...
--They will find the picture of Pamela Isley and Dick Grayson speaking to one another in the park. In addition a scrap piece of paper that says "Sarin"
--_There is also a large folder dedicated to Mr. Clark Kent. There are numerous newspaper clippings of his articles, as well as photographs of the man.
