Iris is extremely faithful to her yoga routine - some might even call it religiously so. Every morning she wakes up at dawn, no matter when dawn is, and does sun salutations - a series of movements that make her feel energized and ready to tackle the rest of her day. But in winter, when the days are shorter, that's immediately followed by a mad scramble to get to work on time so she doesn't do more than that then. But she always, always finds some time to do more later.
Today that time is in the afternoon - there's a long gap in her appointment schedule, so she decided that she might as well leave work, run a few errands, and of course squeeze in a bit more yoga. And today, being an unseasonably warm day, has tempted her into the park. But while it may be warmer than usual, few would call it 'warm'. It's merely warm enough to melt the snow that isn't hiding in the shadows, but not much more. Still, as long as she finds a nice place in the sun and out of the wind, she'll be warm enough when she gets going.
To the outside observer not familiar with yoga, it can appear to be a rather gentle exercise, aside from the obvious flexibility required. But it actually takes and builds a lot of strength to hold any of the poses or to move from pose to pose, so it makes the muscles hot. So though the thin-skinned Iris is shivering when she finds a nice spot to place her yoga mat - not far from one of the trails, where there are a lot of trees to block the wind but not any close enough to block the sun - once she gets started she feels quite comfortable. In fact, when she feels a trickle of sweat starting down her back she starts to debate whether or not she can safely shed the jacket of the thin warm-up suit that she's wearing, but she's not too sure of that. Perhaps if it starts to get in the way of her movements she'll think about it, but her toes - which aren't covered by her yoga socks - are just nippy enough to convince her that she'd rather keep it on.
While she's far from being the most skilled person in the world at yoga, she's no beginner either. The routine includes headstands, backbends, a little bit of putting her foot behind her head, and other such maneuvers that most people can't imagine being able to do. She was one of them a long time ago herself, but then she got hooked and the rest is history.
