Winter's cold chill was clinging to Jervis as he huddled by the corner of the old brick building. Snow drifted and danced around the streets of Gotham and all seemed decent in the past few days...for most. Jervis was tired, sleep and hunger were taking it toll on him, Although he had a decent hideout and had evaded Gotham P.D. for months now, He wasn't doing well. He had no Alice to keep him company over the cold months, It seemed all the girls in Gotham had become wise to the Mad Hatter's madness... Blonde's everywhere had dyed their hair, moved or just became more clever in being avoiding being lured by him.
Jervis scowled beneath the tattered ed scarf he wore over his face and pulled the black long coat closer to himself as he looked to see who was out and about this snowy afternoon. He was looking, just...looking. His mad headaches had become so common now, he hardly noticed them. He sighed as he saw no familiar faces, though it was hard underneath scarfs and high collars. He felt his stomach gurgle and demand for food, But.. he couldn't eat..or really sleep lately..not without Alice.
The snow swept up and kissed his face as a harsh breeze went by, he flinched, he was jumpy and his physical state showed in his shallow eyes and cheeks. Jervis could hardly even recognize himself..never had his Madness taken such a toll on him.. never had he been this long on the run from Gotham P.D.

One blonde that tales of the Mad Hatter has had absolutely not effect upon is Evangelina. In fact, she's not technically a blonde - she dyes her hair to blonde - and she's not going to let tales of a man who thinks that he's in a children's storybook change that habit either. Of course, she's never actually met the man either, probably because it's a very big city and she's only been in it for just over a year. Though the fact that she's a member of the GCPD and is sure she could handle herself even if she did is a factor.
Though at the moment, none of that is even remotely on her mind. She's not on duty or she wouldn't even be in this part of the city. No, she's doing a little post-holidays shopping. A lot of stores are having really good deals right now, after all - they're trying to get rid of everything that didn't sell over the holidays but their customers are low on money after spending so much of it on presents, so they're tempting everyone who still has anything left with bargain prices. And Evangelina wasn't able to resist that temptation, as indicated by the shopping bag hanging from her arm.
Now she's headed from her favorite 'novelty' shop to the subway station. She could have driven, but she knows just how hard it can be to find a place to park anywhere near where she wanted to be in that part of the city at that time of day. There comes a point where that hassle sounds like less trouble than the hassle of public transportation.
While she's normally one to prefer form or function when she's off duty, the fact that it's actively snowing encouraged her to be practical with her footwear - she has on her gray Ugg boots, in spite of the fact that she regards them as horrendously ugly and unfashionable despite their popularity (which she attributes to the fact that they really are quite functional). Aside from those, she's also wearing a pair of black skinny jeans that don't keep out the cold very well, a long and stylish teal pea-coat that does, a black infinity scarf wrapped around her neck, and a gray beanie hat that only partly conceals her hair, as much of it spills out around her face. She's in a hurry as she makes her way down the sidewalk, partly because she thinks that she might make the next subway if she's quick, but also because she simply wants to get out of the weather.

His eyes were squinting as he walked, head tucked beneath his scarf as he turned a sharp corner. Jervis was usually as keen as a fox about avoiding people and being unseen to the world, but his weakened state made him slip up, He bumped into someone rather hard. He got a quick sent of perfume before his hand reached out automatically and grasped the woman by the wrist and pulled her into him. He then realized that he was practically face to face with.. Alice? Could it it be her? his dear Alice?
He swallowed in his throat as the wind brushed his mangled dull hair in front of his face, which he swept away with his free hand. he was like a deer in head lightls, just starring at her. His hand on her was loose, but like handcuffs he wasn't letting go...

Though Evangelina may look like a fairly ordinary woman just walking down the street while she's off-duty - especially when her rather athletic body is covered in layers of warm clothing - she is, in fact, not. Yes, her first, instinctive reaction to being bumped into and having her wrist grabbed is fairly ordinary - she stops short and attempts to jerk away her wrist. And though that jerk has more muscle behind it than your average woman possesses, it's still not enough to extract it from the determined hand of a psychotic criminal.
But after that her reaction takes a sharp turn from normal. She's a police officer in this city, after all, and especially as a woman it would be idiotic of her not to know how to handle herself. Which means that her first instinct is followed immediately by the second - the one that she's carefully trained into herself over years of practice. All that instinct needs to know is that she's just been grabbed by someone who had absolutely no permission to do such a thing to send the fist of her other hand right toward his face, as hard as she can. Which is pretty damn hard these days, since she practices literally everyday. And so is the blow from the opposing leg - he's pulled her in too close for her to kick him, which would be more ideal, but she can still knee him in the side with a fair amount of force.
And after that, she still isn't done. Even as her instinct to protect herself is kicking in, her mind races to catch up. It first recognizes his face - she's seen the pictures of Gotham's rogues, both in and out of their costumes (if the latter is available), to know that face almost instantly. And it's that recognition that causes her to suddenly twist - if he's going to hang onto her, she's going to take advantage of that by trying to slam him against the corner of the building and pin him there. A move that he could probably resist if he has the presence of mind to do so, but she's hoping that his deer-in-the-headlights expression is a sign that his thoughts aren't coming that quickly.

He barely had time to even blink and he was suddenly feeling sharp pain. Jervis was easily thrown about and felt the wind get knocked out of him. He then looked at the woman who had him pinned up against a brick wall and froze once more, but it was fear that was gripping him, not his madness. He slowly let out a small whimper as he cringed unsure if he was going to end up bruised and beaten or if this was all just a misunderstanding.

Still full of adrenaline, it takes a moment for Evangelina's thoughts to catch up to the current situation. She has Jervis Tetch pinned up against the wall?!? That's certainly a mixed situation, if there ever was one! On one hand, it's a good thing. She's not a police officer that is enthusiastic about fighting crime for the sake of fighting crime, but if she were to catch a rogue, that would certainly impress her superiors. Especially if it's while she's off-duty.
On the other hand, they don't call just anyone a rogue - the man she has here is dangerous. Not so much at physical fighting, if she recalls his case summary correctly, but he's smart and tricky. In fact, she has every reason to be very, very nervous right now - she might have stumbled into some sort of a trap or something.
It's his whimper that snaps her out of trying to think through all the possibilities of the situation, forcing herself to make a decision about the best thing to do. Quickly looking him up and down, she notices that he doesn't look very well at all - looks like life has been shit for him for awhile. Well, then maybe it's safe to make it just a little bit worse, then.
"Okay, we can do this the easy way or the hard way," she says, snapping into a well-practiced voice of authority - she's extremely well practiced at it since she uses it for both of her jobs, "The easy way: you surrender, I take you down to the station, and we'll find a nice cell for you. The hard way: you resist, I beat the shit out of you, and then take you to the station. Which will it be?" She has no idea whether or not this will work, but she's hoping that he doesn't have very much fight in him. Or if he does have fight in him, that it's the kind without any smart and tricky actions on his part - she's quite confident that she'd win otherwise.

Jervis kept his hands at his side, his eyes wide and the bit of color in his face draining out as she spoke. Ok, she was far more then he could handle at this moment..Oh but she had a sweet voice..such..soft hair...
He cleared his throat after she finished speaking and then tried his best to hide his nervousness," I..I..I s..s..sorry..I...d..d..didn't..." he stuttered before stopping himself. Normally he'd be able to handle this, but he was in not physical condition to fight and she had him pinned..so he couldn't flee either. It was at this rare moment in time that he was more man then madness..and he sighed heavily to try at this again.
" Forgive me..Miss.. I.. I mean no harm to you..You just.reminded me of someone dear..." he admitted , trying to calm himself and her down with his soft British accented voice," I am sure you caused more fright to me then I you...."

The longer that she has him in this position, the more confident that Evangelina becomes that he's not going to do something horrible to her. Well, what luck! It seems that she's caught him in a bad enough situation that she'll get out of this not only unharmed but with a better reputation at the station.
Though that's her getting ahead of herself - at the moment she's simply struggling to remain patience. It's not something that she has a lot of, but she forces it out of herself as she waits out the stuttering and then the actual words that he says when he finally manages to articulate his thoughts. And the words cause her to frown instantly as she stares directly at the man in her grasp.
"You don't seem to understand - I'm a cop and you're under arrest, Mr. Tetch," she says, being careful to throw his name in there so that he'll know that he's been recognized and he can drop the innocent act. "But I don't mean any harm to you either... if you come quietly," she adds, a certain underlying threat in her voice - she doesn't say what will happen if he doesn't come quietly, but there's the definite implication that he doesn't want to find out.

Dr. Crane had been out looking for something tonight. It was something important or he couldn’t have went out at all. These were the months that he didn’t venture outside too often if he could help it. The doctor was never fond of the cold. Whether it was his thin skin or just a reminder of the floor in the asylum he just never wanted to be in it. He would never be caught complaining about it publicly.
As he continued down the street he caught site of what seemed to be a struggle down the alley way, the corner of an older building on the block. He went closer to the spectacle and saw a familiar face. The doctor had not pursued much interaction between him and Tetch but the man was useful from time to time. He didn’t have anything to do with him normally. The man was lost in his delusions and far too afraid to leave them. His fear drove him to them and made him cling for his life. To see him in this state, being harassed by another was not unusual.
The doctor began to walk toward them, now gaining a better look at the blonde. She was assertive and domineering in her voice. An officer, she heard her pronounce as she claimed she was going to take Tetch in. Normally, he’d have no reason to get involved, but he had not seen this woman around before….and Tetch might have been more useful to him in this situation than her.
“ You don’t mean any harm?” He announced his presence a short distance behind them. “The way he cowers in the corner suggests otherwise.” The doctor was calm and collected as he spoke, fully intending to remove Tetch from this situation and bring him back with him.

Jervis' heart was pounding hard in his chest, nearly painful. He squirmed slightly as he felt his freedom begin to slip away.. he tried to not further the fear on his face at the idea of being back in Arkham. He parted his lips to try and plea for mercy when he heard the familiar cold voice of Crane.
This did not make things better, already petrified with fear, Jervis felt his heart stop as Crane made himself present. He gulped and swallowed hard in his throat as he wished this would all disappear. He shifted slightly as he hesitated on interrupting the two.

Hearing another voice, Evangelina is careful to turn just her head so that she doesn't accidentally release Mr. Tetch. And much to her surprise, she sees yet another face that she's familiar with from the same bunch of photos. For a second, a flicker of self-doubt crosses her expression - this situation has gone from her confronting one potentially very dangerous person who appears to be in bad shape to two - and the second appears to be... well, not in worse shape than normal. More to the point, she remembers that Mr. Crane is supposed to be more of a fighter who doesn't need to rely so much on trickery. She might be in trouble here...
However, that self-doubt is just a flicker, as it's quickly replaced by a look of resolve. She doesn't know for sure that she needs to panic yet, she points out to herself. This could go any number of ways still, after all, and she might cause a self-fulfilling prophecy if she isn't careful. No, the thing to do now is to see what happens next - and then decide if she needs to panic. For now, her expression simply becomes guarded.
Straightening a little, she doesn't release her hold on Mr. Tetch but she does ease up just enough to allow him to not be completely uncomfortable as she speaks to Mr. Crane. "It appears that he's just as afraid of you as he is of me," she observes, as she didn't miss the reaction to the man making himself known. "Despite what this may look like, I'm simply defending myself. He thought that he found a lamb, but instead he caught a wolf and now it's turned on him," she explains, watching Mr. Crane very carefully as she speaks - looking for his reactions.

The doctor had already assessed the woman in front of him. However much shorter she was compared to him she was quite fit. She kept a regiment work out and could possibly give him some trouble if she really wanted to get out of the situation she was about to place herself in. Unfortunately for her, Dr. Crane had far more experience. But he had no desire to fight her, it didn’t have to resort to violence. It was a waste of time. He would rather avoid the situation all together. All she had to do was let go of Tetch and walk away from them.
“He’s right to be.” He confirmed her statement but negated her right to defending herself as it wasn’t valid. “I am the Alpha that’s caught the omega trying to eat first….” He ranked them as the situation he saw. He approached her now, this time without stopping.
“Release him.” He demanded and left little room for her to protest. If she did not, he would do it himself. She might have thought that she was the leader in this situation but she was about to find out how wrong she was. He didn’t want this to have to get harder than it had to be. She just needed to let go and back away.
Tetch must have been very confused as to why he was here at all and why he decided to seemingly come to his aid. But nothing was ever so simple. Dr. Crane wasn’t known for his random acts of heroism when it came to saving others. He would have normally walked by the scene and let Tetch learn from his mistake, which he never would have. But in this case Dr. Crane wanted something from him…and he was going to get it.

He made a faint squeak as the two argued who'd have mastery over his carcass... and Jervis wasn't sure which one he preferred. His eyes dashed from the woman to Crane and then back again before he shifted and tried to loosen himself from the wall..maybe escape before the situation turned violent.
He held his breathe as he slid along the wall, hoping he was now invisible to them. He exhaled as he looked down at to where Evangelina's hand had a hold of him. Oh usually he'd be rather thrilled about being dominated by a rather wonderful woman.. but currently he was feeling otherwise. He faked a smile in case she looked at him, his hands lowered to his side and his hair a mess over his face.

Completely ignoring the man he's now holding, since she's quite confident that she has him securely and that she ought to be giving the other one her full attention, Evangelina hesitates for a moment as she considers Crane's words.
It's true that she's in good shape, and could probably hold her own against him... for a round or two, but then he'd win. And considering the consequences of losing... well, she may often lean heavily on the side of overconfidence, but she's not that stupid. So after that moment, she simply gives him a very respectful nod and says, "As you say." Because he's approximately right in his analogy - he's the bigger wolf here and she'd be a fool to challenge him. She wouldn't go so far as to say that she's an omega, but she won't object to that verbally.
Instead she indicates as much by the way she responds to his demand. First she turns toward Tetch and gives him a disappointed look. She's not disappointed in him, but in the fact that here she much give up a possible way to impress her superiors. But she'll get another. Then she simply lets him him go and backs away from him, shifting herself so that Crane ought to easily be able to take her place keeping the man on the wall, if that's what he wants to do. She herself intends to calmly put a good ten feet between the two men and herself, but to stop there and observe.
She won't run in terror with her tail between her legs - she's definitely been intimidated into doing what Crane told her to do, but if his focus is on the other man then she has no reason to be too fearful for herself. And she doesn't really see a reason why she has to leave immediately either - she's curious to see what will happen, unless of course anyone objects to her presence. She wouldn't think that they'd have a reason to, though - while she's capable of being more than a harmless bystander, she's clearly choosing to refrain from doing so.

For the moment Dr. Crane ignored Tetch and kept his focus on the woman that had him. It wasn’t out of the norm for the man to whimper and cower in the face of any danger that he wasn’t in complete control of. The problem with Tetch was that he never embraced his fears and submitted to it, instead he tried to avoid them which only lead to him being in these situations. This wasn’t a gesture to save him, so much as it was going to have a mutual benefit to them both, but he doubted Tetch would see it that way by the time he was done.
When she released him he did take the spot that she left, positioning Tetch behind him. “Stay” He ordered him not unlike someone would order a dog, but that’s not the way he thought of it. He was a doctor and he was only trying to do what was best for his health. If he scurried away he would just have to be chased down later which would have been worse for his health when he caught up with him. Instead he could make it easier on both of them and just do what he said.
He kept his attention on her even after he was freed, because although the Alpha now had his meal the Omega hadn’t left. “You can go home now. I’m his doctor…” He gave her a reason to go so she wouldn’t have to make one up to stay. Tetch would be perfectly fine in his charge. He had plans for Tetch now that he was with him, but he wasn’t going to execute them here. He wasn’t worried that she was standing here, never worried. In fact he just needed to go someplace out of earshot of more than her. What he wanted from Tetch was not something that he could simply do out here without the right environment and equipment…all of which he knew the man had.
Over the years he had known Tetch to be quite the chemist. He didn’t believe him to be the best of course, he considered himself to be the best because he studied the only thing that mattered. But Tetch’s formulas had been useful to him before.
