It's been a quiet day for Evangelina. Which for most police officers, especially in a place like Gotham, might be counted as a good thing. And it is for her too... sort of. There is that inner lazy part of her that likes to be able to kick back and relax, but on the other hand she's well aware of her current position in the department. She knows that the Commissioner doesn't really like her - which is completely unfair. So what if she's not a goody-two-shoes officer with an impeccable record and the 'right' attitude? She still does her job. It's just not very by the book sometimes.
Which is why she's spending this quiet day doing basic grunt work, mostly in the form of traffic stops. Hardly the glamorous work any rookie was picturing when they signed up, but perhaps she'll score some points if the record shows that she was keeping busy all day in spite of the lull. Or maybe she'll even stumble into something that will make the day much less quiet - you never know with traffic stops.
Near one of the major intersections in east Gotham is a certain alleyway she's quite fond of. It gives her a good view of the light and the vehicles that have just passed through it, but it's difficult for them to spot her cruiser until they're right in front of her and are already in the process of doing whatever traffic violation they're going to do. She's pulled over so many cars thanks to this spot...
A vehicle passing in front of her abruptly slows when they spot her, but it's already too late - she'd seen it speed right through the red light. She quickly pulls out of the alleyway, right behind it within seconds, and turns on her lights and siren. That's right, sucker, pull over. It complies, finding an empty spot on the shoulder, and she pulls up right behind it. She takes her time in getting out, though, running the plates first. When she's finally ready, she gets out and approaches the driver's side window. "You in a hurry today?" she asks the obviously loaded question, allowing her voice to fall into that knowing tone that indicates that she indeed saw the whole thing.
