As the appointed hour draws closer, the atmosphere within Robinson Park changes. During the day it had been host to a number of free, family friendly activities sponsored by the city. But as the evening approaches and the young families go home, one section of the park is gearing up for this evening's main event.
Poison Ivy, already in her chosen Halloween costume for the evening, tours the area, making sure that all the people she hired are doing exactly what they're supposed to, and to the quality that she expected. You always try to hire competent people, but there's always the unexpected. Fortunately, the unexpected seems to be mostly minor this evening, as she finds that most of the last minute changes and alterations are small and easily fixed.
The area that she reserved is quite large, as she expects a lot of people to show in spite of the $100 cover charge - and she went so far as to have high but temporary barriers erected to make skipping the entrance fee very difficult. But everyone she knows that she definitely wants to come can easily afford it, in fact they could all probably afford far more, and everything is free once you're inside so she's going to be deaf to any and all complaints about that.
She's divided the party into three areas, which the guests can move between as they please:
Throughout each area she's paid particular attention to the decor - there's a definite pumpkin theme, as the carved gourds are scattered throughout each area - sometimes dominating whole areas.
Though she found a number of skilled carvers to make them, the pumpkins themselves all came directly from her garden, so Poison Ivy is quite pleased to see the result. Once she's satisfied that everything is prepared to her satisfaction, she indicates that it's time to start allowing in the guests. In the meantime, she makes herself scarce - she'll let the people she's hired take care of things for now and will be making her grand entrance later.

She's divided the party into three areas, which the guests can move between as they please:
In the first area, normally a series of wide paths through a rather plain garden area, is a rather large number of Halloween activities and food stations. No, not the cheap, flimsy plywood booths and the tasteless crap of so many neighborhood Halloween parties, but actually high-quality fare that Poison Ivy herself can approve of. The face painting folks, for example, will soon fix up anyone who arrives without a proper costume, or could use an enhancement.
In the second area, normally a wide open grassy field, there's a gigantic DJ booth set up, ready to blast the entire field with an assortment of Halloween favorites and current hits, as well as requests from the guests - she's made sure to hire a DJ that has pretty much anything anyone would ask for on hand. Poison Ivy suspects that the older generation will spend little time there, but if time permits she fully intends to join the younger crowd there for at least a song or two.
In the last area is a very large enclosed pavilion, sheltered from both the coldness and the noise of the outdoor areas. Inside she's set up a completely different atmosphere, with an open bar, soft music, and another dance floor if anyone's inclined to interrupt what's likely to be a lot of mingling.
Throughout each area she's paid particular attention to the decor - there's a definite pumpkin theme, as the carved gourds are scattered throughout each area - sometimes dominating whole areas.
