"Um, Miss Lloyd... I may have been caught hacking into the Psypher database..."
Aria can feel the headache coming on already... "Explain!" she demands. No, she's not asking Pascal to explain why he was hacking into their computers - she told him to do it, after all. What he needs to explain is how he got caught. After all, if he was the type of hacker to get caught then he wouldn't be her hacker - she does not hire incompetent fools. And the information she'd asked him to get was simply some rather low level personnel files - nothing that should have been difficult to access.
"Well..." he says hesitantly, not wanting to tell the truth but knowing that he'll only dig the hole he's already in even deeper if he lies or omits anything, "I managed to get the files you wanted but then I noticed a directory for their research and development department. And... well, its Psypher! I wanted just a quick look, but the security for that was much more difficult to get through than I anticipated... I triggered something, and it may have been able to trace me before I could get out of there. I don't know for sure."
...Yep, the headache is definitely here. Sighing heavily, Aria carefully keeps her temper under control - there are times when it's free to let it run rampant, but right now she needs to be able to think clearly. Well, if it's possible that Pascal wasn't traced, then that means everything could still be fine. And even if it was, it's possible that their trace ended there, meaning that Pascal would get into trouble while she got off scot free. Or it's possible that it was traced to her but whatever evidence they have proves nothing. Unfortunately, the only way she can find out whether or not any trouble will come from this is to sit back and wait - not something she wants to be doing when her political career may be on the line. "If I can throw you under the bus for this, I will," she tells him bluntly.
"Yes ma'am," he replies quietly, knowing full well that he crossed the line and the consequences for that may be very dire indeed.
Hanging up the phone without a farewell, she tries to distract herself with other business while the incident remains in the back of her mind, looming over her shoulder. It's almost a relief when Ami gently interrupts her to inform her that Elise Noble has scheduled to meet with her. Which is both good and bad news - it's bad because it means that Pascal's misstep has been traced all the way back to her, but good because Miss Noble had the good taste to discuss the situation with her and cut out all the middlemen by meeting with her personally. True, she may want this meeting so that she can threaten to use the incident against her and somehow profit from that, but Aria is confident that they will be able to sort out their differences privately - she can be rather convincing when she needs to be, after all. "Inform Pascal that he's to be present at this meeting," she instructs Ami, "And tell him to wear something better than jeans and a t-shirt!"
No matter how much she wishes to either be able to get the meeting over with or delay it a bit longer, there's nothing that Aria knows more than the fact that time is going to happen at its own pace and there's no changing that. When the time for the appointment arrives, she's waiting in her office for her secretary to show Elise in. It's a very large and impressive corner office that combines both modern and old-fashioned styles - the two exterior walls are floor to ceiling windows that provide a wide view of the Gotham skyline, while the other two feature elaborate wooden paneling inspired by centuries old designs. Her large, oak monster of a desk practically demands respect for the woman who sits at it, but the more modern ergonomic design of her desk chair and the chairs for visitors encourage the occupants to relax. Pascal hasn't arrived yet, but he will soon... if he knows what's good for him.
So Aria is alone when Elise arrives, and she stands up from her chair at the desk long enough to smile and say, "It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Ms. Noble. Please, have a seat. Would you like anything to drink?" Indicating the chairs in front of her desk for the fellow CEO to choose from, she sees her secretary hesitating in the doorway - ready to hastily bring whatever their guest wants and if it's nothing to go track down Pascal since she doesn't need to be told that's what her boss wants the most from her at the moment.
