The logic of magic sometimes escapes Aria. Her constant restorative transformations have some interesting inclusions and exceptions at times. She needs to cut her hair everyday because it's always 'restored' to its original form. And so are her nails. If she gets dirty, she always returns clean - including her makeup. Yet her clothing remains unaffected no matter what state it was in - if she burned to death, she therefore returns in the nude (but fortunately as a ghost she's able to be invisible and nobody can tell).
And for some reason, though her nails always return to the same condition, apparently nail treatments of all kinds are on the same side as clothing - whatever she had previous to a transformation is exactly what she has afterward. So that means that the magic considers her makeup to be dirt but her nail polish to be clothing? Not ever having bothered to study magic herself, such questions are unanswerable to her - all she knows is what the magic she's been afflicted with does, not why. But what that means for her today is that she's in need of a fresh manicure. She'd been a bit... busy during the overnight hours and it was more than a little bit hard on her nails. Which, though restored to their original condition, are no longer fully intact so she made an appointment at her favorite nail place first thing in the morning.
Myung Nails isn't the most expensive or famous place in Gotham, but what Aria likes about it is that it's been around for years and offers consistent, quality service as well as a relaxing environment. Myung herself has retired from the business, but it's her granddaughter Lily that tsktsks over the chipped polish and escorts her to her chair. "I don't even know how you do that to acrylic nails," she says, clearly fishing for the story.
"Oh, I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you," Aria replies, her tone indicating that she's joking even though she isn't. Nobody would believe that she's not joking though, so the young woman simply laughs and assumes that the politician simply wants to keep her recent activities private.
