Ordinary, everyday grocery shopping is an extremely tedious activity for Charlotte. Blame it on the fact that she's an extremely good shoplifter - actually keeping the items she's buying in plain sight and then paying for them is so lacking in any thrill or challenge. Back when she was living on the streets she stole things because she needed them and couldn't afford them, but even though she most certainly doesn't have that problem anymore there's still that impulse to use the skills thus gained simply because she enjoys doing what she's good at.
Though she's refraining at the moment: partly because she knows that Selina would be absolutely livid if she were to get caught (though a part of her wonders if Selina would be more angry about the stealing or the getting caught), partly because she'll begrudgingly acknowledge that the store needs to turn a profit to keep its employees paid (and they must really need it to be working in a dump like this), and partly because it's actually questionable just how much of a challenge it would be to steal from this store - it would be like taking candy from a baby. Probably because this is a relatively low crime area for Gotham, usually.
Keeping her itchy fingers at bay, Charlotte wanders through the isles gathering the things on the short list Selina wrote up. Her guardian deemed the list too short and herself too busy to demand her personal attention, but too important enough to wait, and therefore the teenager of the house was the natural person to recruit to run the errand. Never mind that she's incredibly busy herself between school, gymnastics, homework, and practicing all the things that Selina has been teaching her when she has the time. In fact she didn't have time to change out of her track suit after gymnastics practice - though that's not that big of a deal since it's a cute track suit and she's still better dressed than many of the other shoppers who also came as they were.
She's in the dairy section, having picked up a carton of eggs to add to her cart, when she frowns at the next item on the list. What the hell are shallots? But she doesn't ponder the question for too long before she pulls her cellphone out of her pocket and googles the answer to that question.
