Despite the heels she had chosen to wear that day, the young redhead insisted on the stairs this particular evening. After a long day at work and staying a little after in order to make preparations for tomorrow’s show, the young news anchor was ready to take a hot shower and then curl up with a book before turning in for the night. After climbing three flights of stairs, she turned down the hallway and started toward her appropriate room, relieved as the automatic lights flicked on after several seconds completely emerged in total darkness. Her heart rate returned back to normal quickly as the reassurance of the bright fluorescent lights bathed her hour-glass frame.
Not wasting the time to fumble with the keys to her apartment, she quickly pushed open the door of her sleek, modern-decorated apartment with ease. Her home was pristine, with not a couch pillow out of place. While it was composed of mutual colors, it had an obvious absence of a personal touch that most homes seemed to have which mostly resulted in the fact that Summer was rarely there. Having avoided staying cooped up inside at any chance she got, the redhead loathed coming home to a lonely, empty house. Many of her friends suggested she get a pet if she insisted on staying single, but Summer was not one to enjoy the company of animals nor did she had the time to particularly care for one.
She kicked off her shoes and set her various bags on the nearest seating arrangement with the plans of retrieving them later. There were still a couple of potential stories she had to look over before she called it a night. Yes, even though she was home from a full day of work she still was not content on calling it a night. The redhead headed directly toward the bathroom in order to run herself a bath, adding a great deal of bubbles and bath salts to the concoction before turning away and allowing the water to rise. Her next stop was the fridge, which was dreadfully empty as always – but Summer wasn’t hungry. In fact, she had struggled with her absence of appetite for the past few weeks now.
Instead, she grabbed a carton of orange juice and poured a glass, sipping it cautiously as she leaned against the cabinet, looking out at the beautiful view she had of the bustling city. It wasn’t until a sound from the origin of her front door was the redhead ripped from her thoughts, her head jerking toward the direction of the noise.
