Stuck between the blonde's embarrassment, and Rowdy's outburst, Marc raised a brow. Ah. He was the focal point of the man's attentions, not affections.
"Usually a man asks a bit differently. I can see why Ms. Lance would, and could be confused." Shrugging slightly he finished his transaction with Dinah before gathering his tulip arrangement.
"Thank you, Dinah, DiDi for your attentive services. And I will be back, to inform you personally if the arrangements were to their liking."
Stepping away from the counter he waited for Mr. Yates to finish his own order. It wasn't difficult to slip a pen from his suit coat, and circle his number on it. Holding it out as Rowdy passed, he had no clue if the man would take it or not.

Rowdy watched Dinah’s surprised expression as she discovered his phone number on the signed copy of the receipt. When she looked at him with a smirk, he gave her a playful wink.
He was flattered when Dinah gave him her business card. “Call you?” he teased. “Sure, I'll consider it. If things don’t work out with Marc or your Mom, you’ll be next on my list!”
When Dinah mentioned his date for the evening, Rowdy's eyes widened. He’d actually forgotten all about her! Right now, his attention was focused on Dinah’s beautiful smile. A woman with great looks and a sense of humor? What a lucky find!
Waving good-bye, Rowdy watched Dinah walk away to help another customer who had just entered the store. From the expression on his face, anybody could tell he was impressed with Dinah's customer service . . . among other things.
When DiDi touched him physically, Rowdy snapped out of his trance and turned to face the older woman. He listened intently to what she whispered to him and nodded in agreement. “Oh, you haven’t seen the last of me, dear,” he whispered back in confidence with a huge smile on his face. She made Rowdy feel so comfortable that he felt like hugging her good-bye. “Aww, c’mere!” he ordered, opening his arms wide for her. “I’m a hugger!”
As he and DIDi embraced, Rowdy noticed Dinah giving him another look and a smile. In return, he gave her a thumbs-up. Then the phone rang, and DiDi went to answer it.
When Rowdy walked past Marc, he took the card Marc was offering and read it for a few brief seconds before slipping it into his pants pocket.
“So what are you doing now, buddy?” he asked nonchalantly. “You got time to get something to drink? We can go to my place.”
Rowdy chuckled to himself. He was referring to his nightclub, not his house. Rowdy got a kick out of his own unique sense of humor.

As Rowdy perused his card he shifted his flowers. He'd rather drop them home and change into something else beforehand. But he would not turn down the offer. "Give me half an hour to change, and drop these off at my place, and I can meet you there. Where is your place located?"
To the point, but affable he queried the man. "Any certain amount of attire required?" He would rarely turn down an offer to socialize. Rarely.

DiDi was caught off guard when Rowdy pulled her in for a hug. At first she hesitated with the man's arms around hers but then felt his muscular arms through his shirt and eased up a bit and hugged him back lightly putting her head on his chest. Wow, what a hunk. She then let go and chuckled. "Wow, umm... yea umm... phone..." DiDi signaling to the counter. "Bye, Rowdy!" Dinah noticed the interaction, what was all that about? Is he after my mother? Hmm... Marc then handed Rowdy a card and they chatted a bit. She then looked to her customer.
"Umm... I'll be right back, we have some lovely orchids also... you should check them out. But, yea I'll be right back... need... need a vase for those tulips, yea..." Dinah then smiled and the lady agreed and made her way to the orchids. She then passed by the men and made her way to where there was a variety of vases were kept. Dinah's intentions were to eavesdrop of course. These men were very interesting, more interesting than any men that ever come here.
You have the clean cut and sophisticated Marc Dalhmaine and the smooth-talking and playful Rowdy Yates. Dinah couldn't get over these men. She was still intrigued...

A mischievous look appeared on Rowdy’s face when he noticed Dinah was smiling and eavesdropping while selecting a vase. She wanted to hear something? Okay. He’d give her an earful.
With a wry smile, he pulled Marc’s card out of his pocket and read it again.
“Apart from being sexy, what do you do for a living, Marc?” he said aloud. “Chevalier Cellars, eh? I do not fancy wines. I prefer moans.”
He tried to keep his composure as he shifted his gaze and pretended to study Marc's face.
“Do you have a sunburn, or are you always this hot? Man, I mean you're so hot, a firefighter couldn't put you out! No lie -- you're so hot you would make the devil sweat! You're so hot, I could bake cookies on you!”
He winked at Marc to play along.
“I'll bet that you're naked under all those clothes, aren’t you? Hey, what's a nice guy like you doing with a body like that anyway? Buddy, if you were words on a page, you'd be what they call FINE PRINT! There isn't a word in the dictionary for how good you look! I mean, right now, I wish I was cross-eyed so I could see you twice! And those flowers are going to be so appreciated by your significant other. You're so sweet, you could put Hershey's outta business!"
He used his peripheral vision to see how Dinah was reacting to everything he was saying.
“Y’know, Marc, if I were you, I'd have sex with me. SERIOUSLY! My two favorite letters of the alphabet are E Z." Leaning in, he added as a side note, "By the way, did you know bisexuality immediately doubles your chances for a date on a Saturday night?"
Then he shook Marc's hand.
“I want to thank you so very much, Marc. Really. I was feeling a little off today, but you definitely turned me on. And as far as us going out, I want you to know you’re unique and different from other people because you said ‘yes’! My place is located a few blocks from here. You can't miss it. As far as your attire, wear something you can take off easily, preferably clothes with zippers and not buttons. Shirt and shoes are required. Everything else is optional.” With a loud whisper, he added, “That means you can go commando!”
At that moment, Rowdy appeared to be serious on the outside, but on the inside he was laughing like hell!

This man was quite forward. And loud. As he shifted his arrangement he contemplated the man's demeanor. Had he been drinking so soon in the day? It wasn't until he caught the glance back at the blonde proprietor did he get it.
As the man winked, Marc winked back. He was not unused to men finding him attractive and flirting with him as well. But the rather robust way Mr. Yates was going about it confused him. Perhaps his English wasn't as accurate on slang as he had hoped. And considering the weather, he most certainly did not posses a tan, but did have a healthy complexion.
He had been about to open his mouth when Rowdy continued and a crease formed in his own forehead. If he was supposed to help the man as the term was, he believed, a wing-man, he would have to speak as well. But Rowdy seemed to want to continue with his ribald lines at speed with no change of slowing up. As the flowers were mentioned his eyes glanced at the arrangement he was holding. "These are for myself, but thank you. My mother taught me to send small tokens to those I care about. Expressions of love in times apart. I can only hope your own date goes well, too."
He cleared his throat and ran a hand through his hair as Rowdy was a bit more than blunt this time. "Sadly I have to turn down such a tryst, Rowdy. I'm not the sort to indulge in more than one paramour at a time. But I appreciate the offer." Did easy mean he had a varied palette or something else? He was certainly flummoxed at this point. As the man leaned in for an aside he watched him queerly. "He also has a zero percent change if no one accepts."
They shook hands and the man's tone changed. Even if he was joking, the whole song and dance was too genuine. He had a feeling Mr. Yates was looking to honestly date both himself and Ms. Lance. Nodding he understood the dress code.
"Thank you."

As the two men shook hands, Rowdy watched Marc and held his stare. “Why are you looking at me like that?” he asked the Frenchman. “You’re the one who talks funny!”
Rowdy was honest with everyone, and his honesty could sometimes be so brutal that it took people’s breath away. He didn’t mean to offend Marc, but that’s just the way Rowdy was. Despite their differences, Rowdy looked forward to becoming friends with Marc. God knew he hadn’t been shy in sharing his interest.
As they proceeded to exit the building, Rowdy turned to bid farewell to Dinah and DiDi one final time, making sure both ladies were smiling before he left. That’s how he wanted to remember them, if . . . .
Stop it, Rowdy! he scolded himself. Don’t worry. You’ll see them again. There’'ll be a next time.
Before moving to Gotham City, Rowdy Yates – nightclub owner, entertainer, and scalding-hot temptation – had survived. No more, no less. He hadn’t been unhappy, really. He’d just always kept busy, and never enjoyed the moment. But when he moved to Gotham, he made a promise to himself that he’d start enjoying life . . . and the people in it. Marc and Dinah were two special people he really wanted to get to know better – Marc first, then Dinah, in that order.
“Don’t worry, Marc,” Rowdy said as he escorted Marc out the door. “I won’t make you put out on the first date. It’ll be my treat.”
Rowdy was speaking about payment for their drinks. Unknown to Marc, Rowdy was flattered that Marc had taken him up on his offer. He hoped he wouldn’t do or say anything to make Marc regret that.
“You know you talk funny, right?” Rowdy quipped, closing the door behind them.
