Harvey sat at his desk in the bull pen. His home was relatively immaculate, save a little messiness here and there on occasion, but his work desk was another matter. Stacks of papers were splayed all over it. He had at least three empty styrofoam cups sitting around on top of the stacks that once held his coffee. There were two between his keyboard and computer monitor, both piping hot. This is what happened when he was off of work for two days. Things just piled up and he was doing his best to catch up.
Open and closed case and evidence folders were allover the place mixed in the stacks of papers and other things. He was careful enough to not let his coffee near them. He was not going to destroy hard copies of case files, he'd been down that road before. Around his desk, on the floor, were banker boxes with more case files for cases he was still keeping around in case any new leads popped for him.
Essentially his desk was a fort of crimes. An intern rounded the corner with a box full of lunch he had been sent to retrieve for all the detecties in the bull pen. Once he made it Harvey he pulled out a brown paper bag and placed it at a bare spot on the wooden desk. Harvey grumbled a thanks to the kid as he continued to look through some information on several suspects he had been looking over for a particular case. He was reading their arrest records and any other notes on their backgrounds that was available to him.
After a minute or two he finally reached over a stack of papers for his lunch. A sandwich and some salt and vinegar chips he specifically asked for. The sandwich was reuben, his usual go to sandwich of choice. he unwrapped the sandwich and shoved it in his mouth as he kept reading. Eventually he wanted to stop looking things over and just focus on his lunch, but he wanted to take a look at his e-mail first. he set the sandwich on his lap and looked through his email. He saw something in it from one of the other detectives. He pulled it up and clicked a link in the email. It was a video on youtube. Harvey was about to close it out when suddenly a face appeared with a loud and obnoxious scream, meant to scare him. He was only slightly startled. He'd been doing this for a while, not a lot of things took him by surprise. He closed the tab and looked over to the detective who sent it.
"Grow up, Bivins, this isn't third grade."
Bivins snickered along with the other younger detectives sitting around him. Harvey glared at them once more before finally leaning back in his chair to enjoy his sandwich. Just as he bit into it he heard someone behind him call his name.
"What?" he grumbled through the sandwich he was chewing while he grabbed a handful of chips.
