Stakeouts..., the boon of any vigilante's life, and just as the movies always depicted them, they were boring as hell. add to that one could not eat anything or drink, could not read a book or even send texts, and the night added up to one long, senseless evening. For weeks, guns had been moving through the Port of Gotham and though Batgirl had been able to get a handle on some of the cargo that was being shipped, the remaining mountains of illegal weaponry seemed to be getting past her. She had already asked Huntress for help but the raven-haired avenger was up to her neck in other cases, and besides, if Batman found out she was working with the Huntress all hell would break loose.
Scanning the docks with her night-vision binoculars to see if an new shipment was coming in, Batgirl thought she saw a movement in the shadows, the area of the harbor where the pier lighting faded off into nothingness, and though she could not be sure of anything there, her gut told her whatever was going down was just out of her reach, or sight as the case may be. In minutes, Batgirl was moving in to get a better look, though with the unusually heavy support, she wasn't able to get in more than another dozen feet, and by then the three boats had parted company leaving her with little to go on other than suspicions.
Hours passed before the last of the heavily armed goons had left the area and even then Batgirl was extra cautious. Slipping out of her hiding place at last, she went about looking for clues but as usual there was hardly anything to write home to mother about, though that cliché was getting old even to Batgirl's mind. Stopping in the middle of the open dock to think, Batgirl folded her arms under her chest and pondered what else she could do, though there was precious little she hadn't tried. She had even thought of going to the Batman, but as she had started the investigation Batgirl had made a vow early on to keep it an all-woman show, though so far it had only been a one - act play.
Frustration crossing her brows, Batgirl slowly turned to leave when she caught a glimpse of a paper just inside the darker shadows. Moving for it, she knelt down to pick it up when she noticed it was a small instruction manual for some kind of military grade missile launcher, but before she could pick it up to see what it pertained too, Batgirl heard footsteps, several pairs of them, heading her way. Ducking in the only place she could get too easily, Batgirl flipped over the side of the pier and down into the warmer than usual waters of Gotham Harbor, before she swam under the pier's landing to hide.
In minutes, the upper area was swarming with the goons, and Batgirl thanked herself for her slow reaction to the manual, as the goons had come back looking for that one particular pamphlet - had found it finally - and then left again, taking the manual with them, though with Batgirl's eidetic memory, she had all she needed to have in order to realize she was now in over her head. With Batman and Huntress out of the question, Batgirl decided the one person who could help her get the case moving was Supergirl, and though they had not seen each other for some time, Batgirl knew if she needed help, all it would take was a phone call, and Kara would be there before she could close the link on the cell.
"Supergirl..., Batgirl. I need your help on a case. If you're not busy, could you give me a call or something please? I'm at Gotham's docks at the moment, but will be heading home soon. Thank you..., bye."

In Metropolis.....
A long day and work study job could wear any person out. But with the small things added like saving the world, going into space, and saving people from a flood....it was all in a days work for Supergirl. Though average girl Kara, found it to be a bit tiresome at times.
And with the sun being down, there was no light to help her energy to kick up a notch again.
Laying on her bed on her bed at a friends place, she often when to visit and say with, Kara was ready to just let the day end and hoped tomorrow would be better. After the trouble of holding back her temper against a few classmates...the day was working on her nerves.
The light hum of her phone vibrating on the nightstand caught her attention. She felt too tired to answer it at first. But after it went to voice mail with the continued ringing, Kara knew it was important.
Rushing over, just hearing the first part was enough to send her soaring. Within the blind of an eye she was Supergirl. Cell on hand, it was easy to listen to the end of it, then listen for the sound of the caller. Super hearing really did come in handy.
By the time she got to the docks, Batgirl would be putting her phone away.
"So, did I miss anything," Supergirl asked as she came to a hovering stop near Batgirl.
She had moved so quickly that anyone around would have thought it had been a strong breeze rather than a super flying by.

"So, did I miss anything,"
Batgirl heard the question even as her hand hovered next to her right temple. She had felt the abrupt breeze only a moment before, and though she knew it would not last, any breeze on such a hot and humid night was welcome. Supergirl had arrived and that made Batgirl feel much better, though in truth she really didn't know where to begin. It was late, even for her, and Batgirl needed time to think and time to figure out just what kind of weapon she had read about.
"It's quite possible that I missed something, but for the life of me, I haven't been able to ascertain just what that is. Maybe it would be better if I gave you a run down on what's going on first, but I think it might be better to do that someplace cooler."
Climbing up and out of the water, Batgirl ran her hands down her arms and across the front of her costume to get the excess water off before she looked back toward Kara. She knew she could have asked the girl or a blow dry from her super breath, but that thought might not go over well, and though it had brought a smile to her face, Batgirl kept the thought to herself. There was a safe house only seven blocks over that should work for a briefing of sorts, though Batgirl did at least think maybe a quick scan of the surrounding area would be a good idea.
"I'm dealing with a gun smuggling operation here, but these aren't you normal guns. I briefly saw a manual on the use of a military grade missile launcher before the people that dropped it came back to get it. If that is an example of the weapons they are bringing in, then they need to be stopped. Listen, there's a safe house about seven blocks from here where we can relax and cool off, and where I can dry off..., but before we go, could you do a scan with your vision to see what might be housed in the surrounding warehouses?

Supergirl gave a slight shrug in agreement to Batgirl. This was her town after all, and Supergirl wasn't acquainted with the villains around here. Following Batgirl, she felt like she should offer her some help with drying off.
Then again she knew how some of the human vigilantes were with getting the simplest of help. Though Batgirl hadn't seemed that way compared to her mentor Batman. Kal had told her of the grumps reactions to an help.
Kara floated along easily, he flowing red cap was draped over her shoulders. Long the breeze from movement moved it and her long golden locks of hair.
She listened to Batgirl as she explained the situation and the safe house they could carry on with their strategy to come.
"Sure thing," Supergirl said.
She then looked around at the surrounding building. To any normal person, Supergirl would just look to be squinting. But to Kara, she could see through the large building. She could see the people and the crates.
In the South dock building from her, she could see three people standing around. And the cargo in the building indeed had the type of guns Batgirl had spoken of. The other building, way empty with crate full of average goods. So, she had the building they were looking for. Though the building to the far side was blocked to her x-ray vision. Not something Kara came across unless they had built a while back.
"The warehouse with the entrance for cargo ships does house the weapons you speak of. Number 273 building. But building 275...I can't get a scan on it. Either there is a layer of lead paint on the building or it is lead...," Kara said.
That was about the only substance she could not see through. This would be something Batgirl would know of. Her mentor had a cowl lined with lead to keep the supers from knowing his identity. Well maybe he only wore it when he worked around Superman.
"Did you want me to fly us back to the safe house," Kara asked. It would save them time.

"As much as I should dry off, these buildings need to be investigated. I don't suppose you could give me a bit of super breath to quick dry me until I can grab a shower later?"
Standing there with her legs slightly spread and her arms folded under her chest, Batgirl looked up at Kara and smiled. She had never been the recipient of a super breath attack before but she was positive it would dry her off quickly enough. Dropping her arms, Batgirl closed her eyes and then got ready for the blast, hoping Kara wouldn't throw her into that building she had just x-rayed, though that would at least take the villains by surprise.
"I'll take building 275 with the lead lining, if you can take building 273; the one where the men are gathered. Not sure why it would have a lead lining, but there are a few older buildings around here that were built prior to the second World War..., so that could be it."
She didn't really want to think of the alternative for the lead lining, but it made sense. If the shipment contained weapons such as the one she had read about, then it was quite possible there would be weapons that could harm Superman or Supergirl. If that was the case, then they would need to rid Gotham of the devices before the weapons in question could be brought to bear against Kara.
It would only be a check to see if there was any wrong doings going on in the buildings, and then they could both go to the safe house. The thought of being flown there was a great one, and one that Batgirl would not pass up for anything, but first they had to deal with what could be deemed as a clear and present danger..., Batgirl just hoped they had discovered the shipment in time.
"Hopefully, we won't run into any trouble, and if not, then yes, you can fly me to the safe house. I love flying."

Supergirl raised an eye brow at the request. Is that why she had mentioned the going back and getting dried off? Had she been afraid to ask?
"All you had to do is ask," she replied.
As soon as it seemed Batgirl seemed to brace herself, Supergirl got ready. Taking a deep breathe in, she just as soon released a powerfully heated breathe. Strong enough that it was a good thing Batgirl had braced for it. Though it wouldn't be enough to send her backwards.
"That makes sense. There are still barns out in Kansas that still have old lead paint on them," she commented over the lead building.
Supergirl did not put up an argument over being told what to do. Batgirl was her friend. She trusted her to have a plan going on in her head. And Supergirl wasn't going to fight over anything so minor.
"Sounds like a plan," she replied. "I take it the subtle approach?"
She smiled, since she was used to crashing through walls to get to the point and scare the criminals. That and it was just easier to start the fight.

"I'm not sure I can pull off the subtle approach all that often, Supergirl, and if you wish to barge in and bust heads, before you ask questions, then be my guest. I've always admired your methods."
It was an amazing feelings to be blown-dried by super-breath. Though she wouldn't take it up as a practice, Batgirl could see the benefits of the quick dry as it helped keep her out in the field. Perhaps she would have to locate the more public places where a man-made dryer could be found, the exit of a car wash or maybe ventilator shaft bringing heat from underground..., though the thought of doing a "Marylin Marone" impersonation while standing on such a spot, her cape flying up to reveal her back side, made Batgirl smile.
"Either way, these guns have to be kept off the streets. If I need you I'll just call, I'm sure you'll be able to hear me. Unless you have a plan, for if so, then I'm all ears. I do seem to have four of them after all."
Smiling when she made the comment on her own ears and those of her cowls; Batgirl went about adjusting the costume to make sure it fit in all the right places, before she looked first at her selected building and then the one Kara had stated there was activity in. she doubted Supergirl would have need of any help though if for some strange as yet unknown reason the weapons included the kind that could neutralize a Kryptonian, then Kara could indeed need the help.
Thinking about the one manual she had seen, it was quite possible that such a weapon, or maybe a delivery system for that kind o weapon could be included in the smugglers inventory, but if one was, that would lead to all kinds of questions as to who was behind the operation as Kryptonite was a scare commodity.
"One thing, if you run into trouble that you need help with, don't hesitate to call on me, okay?"

Supergirl smiled at the compliment she was given over her methods. It was the easy way to do things. And when you had a lot of muscle it was the fast way to show that you meant business.
"Thank you," she replied.
She listened to Batgirl as she continued on with a brief planning. Well more thinking out loud between the two of them since they were pretty much winging it. She laughed slightly at the comment over the four years.
Supergirl looked around their surroundings. She used her x-ray vision to see through the building and get an idea of what to do. The building Batgirl was instructing her to go into had several people within it. And several in a group, possibly a meeting between them all.
"Agreed. We will notify each other if needed," Kara replied. "As for a plan, I will go about my usual entrance. This will draw attention away from the other building hopefully. That might be where most of it is kept. What ever it is."
Supergirl gestured toward the lead building. She wasn't sure what was in it since her sight wasn't working on it of course. And the people within, she was sure could radio each other. Maybe some would come to stop her, leaving the other building open for Batgirl to look around some more. Though she was sure one person would probably be left behind to protect yet.
"Let's do it that way. I'll distract while you take care to find out or foil their plans in the other building. I'm sure I can handle my own," she said, giving a wink. No human or gun would be able to stop her.
Supergirl would then take off for the far building she had been instructed at the time. Taking her time to fly over. Locating the best entrance way. And as soon as she had...she went dive bombing through the tin roof of the old warehouse. Cause the attention in the building to go to her.

There were things about Kara that Batgirl admired her ability to think on her feet - the way she went about dealing with crime - and though few ever saw it, the softer side of her personality. For a Kryptonian, Kara could be so human, even more so that Superman, though he wasn't that far behind. Maybe it was the female in her or just a different upbringing, but whatever it was, Batgirl was happy to be able to call the girl - friend.
Waiting for Supergirl to attack, Batgirl sprinted for the other building. It was situated around the corner from where they had made their plans and though she was sure their talk had gone undetected, Batgirl knew she needed to be careful. Her body pressed against the corner of the closer building, Batgirl pulled out a miniature mirror located on a pencil-thin, telescoping rod and took a look around the edge. Sure enough there was a lookout, but by studying his movements, Batgirl could time the seconds his back was turned to her and that was all she needed to know.
Her timing point blank, Batgirl pulled the unconscious guard back away from the building's entrance before she quietly opened the door and slipped inside. The interior was dark except for two yellowish lights, their weakened beams shining down upon what looked to be a good twenty or more crates, all of which were stacked perfectly, plus another one that had its top cover askew, providing the men standing around a table to get whatever was inside. It was a simple matter to announce her arrival but for once Batgirl thought she'd do it with a bit of style, least Supergirl have all the fun.
Three bat-concussion bombs flew from her fingertips to land at the men's feet, and though they started to move for cover, their movements were not nearly fast enough to do them any good. The follow up assault including two smoke bombs, Batgirl donned the gas mask and went in to deal with any that was left standing and in minutes she was a fury of punches and kicks, her delicate-looking movements likened to that of a ballerina on a stage, though what the thugs were receiving was anything but such a performance.

There were maybe about twenty thugs within the place. Ten of which seemed to be the muscle of the group. And five of them the marketers. And three dealers, and two heads of the operation going on that night.
Supergirl had just come crashing through the building, bring shards of tin roofing down to the ground as she crash landed in the building. Her fist driven into the ground. The concrete floor suffering a large dent and fracture in it now. Seeing as this warehouse was on land compared to the building Batgirl had gone into that was on the dock itself. Lucky for them it wasn't the other way around with the building at the time.
"Sorry to crash your party boys, but someone has an awful big mouth around here. Big enough I could hear it back in Metropolis," Supergirl said as she got their attention easily.
The thugs were the first ones to step in, but they were not all that stupid enough to take on Supergirl hand to hand. She'd brake their arms.
From a distance they started a rain of gun fire on her. She stood in the center where she had entered. Just watching them as they wasted their bullets on her. Boy, didn't criminals ever learn from each other?
Superman was the Man of STEEL....how could they not understand stand that Supergirl was the Maid of Might.
She stood there and yawned at their pathetic attempt to shoot her. A smirk came to her face as some started to realize their attempt was petty and useless.
"Took you long enough to figure it out," Supergirl said. "My turn."
She smiled as she fly up into the air and dove down at a few thugs. They continued to shoot at her again as she knocked them off their feet and back into some crates. She tended to take her time, seeing as what they tried wouldn't hurt her. None of them were strong enough.
She headed for another group. Taking her time to walk toward another group. She saw something hanging over head of them and used her heat ray vision to burn through the chain holding the crate. It came crashing down as the thugs dove out of the way. And the last group she heated the guns in their hands and they dropped them.
Well, that took care of the thugs. As for the marketers and dealers. They were the brains. But Supergirl had bronze as well as brains.
"So anyone else up for the next round," she asked.
There was a door that opened behind her with two other men that must have run up from the other building before Batgirl got there. They had radios, Supergirl could hear the frequency of them.
"We had not exactly planned on a meeting like this, but you'd do for a nice test subject," one of the two dealers said from the upper level stair cases.
"Planned? What plan? I don't think you expected Supergirl in Gotham period," Supergirl replied.
"Correct, but you give us the chance to test something out," the man replied.
"I'd like to see you try," Supergirl stated before she grabbed a crate near her and threw it in there direction.
She then fly out words them and grabbed a marketer and threw him into one of the recovering thugs. She then headed toward the two new incomers at the door. She shoot her heat ray at them, but they were actually quick to move. Possibly had part taken in past battle with super heroes....maybe?
As she got closer, one started to open a brief case that was lined in some metal. But as she got closer she felt weaker. She got close enough that when she went to hit them, they opened the case further and exposed the Kryptonite that was inside the case. The green glow gave off in the case as it fell from the man's hands as she had knocked into him.
"Not so strong now, Supergirl," another marketer said.
How did they get this stuff? There was only two people all in the Gotham area that had it. And as much as she didn't like the gargoyle...Batman would never let it slip through his hands. There was only one person she could think that would want an operation such as this and cover it so well.
Supergirl fell to the floor. Weak in the light of the stone.
"Is this all you have," she said.
"We have something else in mind to test yet," another voice said.
It would be some time without any word from Supergirl over what had gone down. A sign that things were either going good or possible wrong. And in this case....wrong was the correct answer. And who knew what they had in store for her if they were marketing weapons like these.

The smoke clearing while she handcuffed the perps, Batgirl applied riot straps, thick plastic bands over the handcuffs in case any of the men had some kind of key. Slipping the cuffs back into their proper compartment on her belt, Batgirl explored the rest of the building to make sure she had not missed anyone, before she went about checking the crates.
Standard military issue equipment met her eyes with each crate she opened, though one piece of artillery, something that resembled a futuristic rifle caught her attention. Pulling the weapon from its packing, Batgirl examined it closely, turning the rifle this way or that to get a look at it from all directions, before she set it off to the side. Something was not right with the weapon but try as she might, Batgirl couldn't put a thought as to why that was; though the moment she found the operating manual, everything associated with the weapon became crystal clear.
"Supergirl, I've found what looks like a weapon that is described as a particle beam rifle. It's capable of using Kryptonite, but there thankfully isn't any of it here. Supergirl? Kara can you hear me? Kara? " There should have been no reason Kara could not have heard her, not with her super hearing, and one look at the weapon she had just examined, coupled with the dead silence from her friend, told Batgirl Kara was in trouble. Grabbing the weapon to take it with her, Batgirl sprinted the distance to the other building to see if she could be of any help, but whatever she had in mind was made pointless as there was nothing, and no one in the entire building.
It was as if the building had never been used. From the ceiling to the floor all was spotless, but Batgirl knew it had been occupied only minutes before. Her senses on full alert for anything that might have been left behind, she touched the side of her head and activated the night-vision system, only to then switch it to the rarely used blue light spectrum, and in moments she was seeing things the naked eye could never pick up, up to and including a small speck of some kind of green-colored rock, a rock that told Batgirl all she needed to know."Kryptonite..., damn."

Meanwhile....
"So this stuff really does work. A dear friend of ours was very generous to loan us these stones in return for a favor," the dealer said as he walked over toward Supergirl.
Two of his goons were now restraining Kara by her arms. She was as week as an athletic earth girl. She may be strong, but not in the radiation of the green kryptonite.
Struggling against the two men, there was no way out for her. Not with that large of a stone having an effect on her. The only weakness to the Kryptonian power houses the supers were.
"We have a special weapon we'd like to try on the big man with the 's'," the man continued.
"What makes you so sure you won't be in the hospital after this evening," Supergirl said.
"Can it you brat. Maybe it's time you learned to be put in your place," the man said as he hit Supergirl in the head with the end of his rifle. The Kryptonite close by and keeping her in check.
Kara let out a slight yelp of pain. This was not a common feeling for her. But the kryptonite was too strong.
"We decided to barrow a little trick from one of your doctor friends from the time Superman was brought down all those years ago," he spoke as he gave the rifle to someone else and another man brought up another box.
In the box was a syringe and a knife made of kryptonite. The needle she recognized from what she was told about them having to use the kryptonite that way to save Kal once. But these fools looked like they had a more negative use for it of course.
"So should we inject some into your blood stream and watch you suffer or just stab you with it? See how you feel when you're brought down to the human race level. You supers watch around like a bunch of gods. It's about time some one took you down a peg," the man said as he grabbed the knife.
The two thugs restraining Supergirl shoved her to the ground. Bringing her to her knees, she was now looking up at the man. A grin on his face as he got closer.
"So how should we do this? Leave you in pieces or just watch you suffer," he said as he pressed the blade to the side of her neck.
She tried to move away, but the men for once were too strong for her to fight against. Not without her powers.
The man pressed the blade into the side of her neck a bit. The causing the blade to draw some blood from her neck. A trickle of red ran down the side of her throat as she tried not to move so much toward the blade as she was held.
"So you supers do bleed red after all. Not so powerful now," he laughed.
The other man got the syringe ready and brought it to the man. He in returned traded the knife for the syringe for now.
"I think it's time we have some fun and see how much kryptonite you can stand in your system before we plan further," he spoke softy to her. His tone as dark as his laugh had been.
Without another word the needle was in Supergirl's stomach and the kryptonite powder within the liquid in the syringe was injected into her body. Right a way she screamed out in pain over it being in her body. It was taking immediate effect on her body. She screamed as she was held in place to suffer.
"This is rather fun watching the powerful Supergirl suffering at our feet." he said, nodding to instruct the thugs to drop her to the floor.
They did as they were told. Supergirl lay on the ground twisting and turning in pain. The man kicked her in the side, causing her to curl to that side in pain as she cried out.
A smile remained on a few of the men's faces as they watched her struggle in pain.

Still back in the warehouse, Batgirl made as thorough an investigation as she could, but the more she searched for clues the more questions she was faced with. There had been tire tracks coming into the building, and even faint signs of them evident on the floor, but the pavement outside showed no signs - at least not since the light rain had started to fall - that they had been driven out again. Remembering the old proverb 'if everything probable was removed, then the only thing left was the improbable', Batgirl started to search the walls for hidden compartments, a time consuming process, but just as she thought it was a dead end, she found the hidden panel, where no such panel should have been.
To the casual observer, the area inside the warehouse was of average size, but the outer dimensions of the building made it look as if the inside rooms should have been larger. The only possible explanation being either closet space or a hidden passageway, Batgirl examined the panel carefully and then pried it open, to reveal a set of switches - of a kind far too advanced for the original date of the building's construction. In minutes, she had figured out that three of the four switches were fakes, possibly hiding some lethal trap, but once she had looked at them with the blue-light lenses of her mask, she could see that only one had ever been used, if the oily residue of different people's skin told Batgirl anything at all. Touching the switch cautiously, Batgirl watched as the wall slid into itself on well oiled wheels, the movement nearly silent to one's ears, but if the silence was to be too much for her, the sudden appearance of two well-armed guards blocking her path told Batgirl that she had still been discovered, something the two of them instantly regretted once they had taken it upon themselves to attack her. Batgirl was ticked off that Supergirl, a friend she had asked for help, was taken, and that gave Batgirl the edge. she was fluid in motion, driving her fists and feet into whatever weak zones she could find, and though they outweighed her two to one, it had never been a contest, as in minutes they were both out of it on the floor, while Batgirl searched them for anything that would tell her where Kara was, though the screams of pain that had just started to drift to her ears gave Batgirl the best clue there could be - or the worst.

Kara was dragged of to the confides of a smaller side building from the main warehouse. These goons weren't advanced enough to get the Kryptonite chains to restrain her.
Though with the Kryptonite working it's way through her veins, it was enough to contain her from harming any one.
She was fortunate they only had the green Kryptonite. Too many of the different stones and could turn into a quicker and painful death. Not that this was subtle either.
The chemical that was inside her system seemed to be almost water down in a way. To help dilute the full effects of the Kryptonite. Another stage to their plans. Where these weapons designed by Luthor's company? Or someone higher up making sure to keep the heroes in check?
At that time, she could care less. She was on the floor struggling against the pain. Someone stood guard while someone was on the other side of the room watching. He seemed to be taking notes of the effects on her.
This was sick. She was now reduced to being a test subject for these men to see how the new weapons would work. They'd pay for this.
"I think it's time we take thing up a notch," the first man who had stabbed her with the Kryptonite knife returned. A gun in his hand. A small refined hand pistol.
It seemed someone was planning an attack on Superman with creating such a weapon. Where there multiple plans in the process to best suit the down fall of her cousin?
The man pointed the gun at her from a distance way. "Lets see what other pains you can feel when this Kryptonite hits," he replied.
Pointing the gun off to her side a bit, he fired one bullet at the side of her abs. This would cause a quick sharp pain soaring through her side and cause internal bleeding at this point.
Her eyes widened in fear over the pain. Supergirl cried out as all she could do was lay there. Feeling helpless and fearing the worse. She wasn't sure how much longer she could stand the pain. The blood loss was growing more and more as they continued to stand and watch. All pleased with themselves for the down fall of a Kryptonian.

The bat-a-rang flew out of nowhere with such precision one would have thought it almost impossible to make such a hit, what with all the packing crates laying about on the warehouse floor, but impossible or not, the thug holding the gun yelped out from the pain and dropped the gun, before he too went to the floor - the victim of a well-placed kick to the kick of his left knee. In moments, Batgirl had dropped two more thugs and was taking on three more, while she kept herself between Kara and the men, though with each salvo of punches and kicks, Batgirl could tell they were pushing her back.
Even as the last man dropped, more came from out of the woodwork, and with the guns in their hands, Batgirl knew it was time to leave. She couldn't take on that many without the risk of some errant bullet slamming into Supergirl's weakened body. Her feet nearly touching Kara's head, Batgirl reached into her utility belt before she threw a handful of smoke bombs toward the floor just in front of the advancing mob. Bullets zinged past her body with the cape taking the brunt of the damage, but the diversion had done its job in blinding their attackers, though it was still a need to get Kara to safety, if the young Kryptonian would even let someone move her to safety.
"Kara...., Supergirl, I need to get you out of here. Can I carry you out of here or do you think you can walk?"
Whether it was a good idea or not, Batgirl reached under Supergirl's arms and moved to drag her from the line of fire. The smoke was still expanding enough to cover their escape, but given time, that would be dispelled enough to allow the thugs a better view of their targets. At any rate, Batgirl had to get Kara to safety before more harm could come to her, or before she too was captured, or much worse, before both things happened, but then Batgirl had known the dangers when she had decided to slap on the mask.
