The sun slowly curved over the horizon ,and let light shine over a dark world. Birds slowly started to chirp in the distance ,and the nocturnal animals slowly started to go into their dens to let light creatures enter the world. Most of the trees were in the bare with their arms reaching toward the sky ,and shook against the cold as wind gently writhed through them. Leaves were dampened ,and pushed against the ground as only few were dry enough to dance in the wind. Just another less day until winter consumed the world.
Surprisingly, Ace was already awake at this point exploring the grounds. His tail wagged back ,and forth as he trotted along ,and explored through the leaves. Every couple of steps he would stop ,and latch himself to a fallen stick to chew on happily before tossing it aside ,and moving along. Today was a good day. Not to hot, not to cold ,and the wind gave him something to play with. Every time wind brushed him in the face he would open his mouth ,and attempt to bite down on invisible playmate. He jumped up ,and snapped a couple of times before bounding forward a couple of steps. He rolled over to let the leaves slowly wrap around his gray form. He then laid there for a couple of minutes to let himself enjoy the day.
He stopped as soon as his nose picked up a scent ,and on the wind he could hear the ruffling of fur. He slowly got up ,but made no sound while doing so. Ace slowly moved forward before finally running after the small mammal. His tail slowly lifted as he chased the furry creature, also known as the Rabbit, across the massive expanse of the manner. He barked happily ,but did not notice he was slowly going farther ,and farther away from his home to the very edge of the property. He stopped dead as soon as the rabbit disappeared in the undergrowth.
He looked around ,and slowly walked the border of the 'yard' until he finally came to the gate. His ears cocked backwards in slight discomfort as he stared out ,and slowly sat down with a curious expression slowly revealing themselves on his wrinkled features. He sniffed the air ,and waited. He did not understand why ,but he was compelled to watch the road.
