Superman had agreed to give Superboy some training but he didn't want to train him where someone could get hurt if things went wrong. Not that he expected to but he didn't want to run the risk. It had taken Superman about an hour to get to the Mojave Desert not because of him being slow. No he had decided to take a patrol of Metropolis first and then go into orbit for a while.
Once he arrived he gently touched down on the desert floor and looked around. There wasn't anyone else around for quite a few miles so he felt confident that no one would happen along and possibly get hurt. Also he didn't want anyone finding them and attacking them thinking they were at a weak point. He just didn't want to bother with that today. Now all he had to do was wait for Superboy to show up. Superman had arrived earlier then he told the boy to get there. He didn't have any special reason for doing so. He simply felt that it couldn't hurt to do so.

Conner got out of bed pretty early for his usual standarts. Most weekends he had the tendency to oversleep but that day was different. He was excited, because Superman accepted to help him with his training. When completely out of bed he went and sat by he window staring at the yellow fields spreading al the way to the horizon of Smallville, up to the point were the eye could see. Well... the human eye. Superman instructed him to meet him at Mojave desert. Made sense. No one would be around to get harmed. When he stopped contemplating he dragged his laptop from the floor to his knees and accessed the internet. Typing the name of the desert on the search bar came with million of results. But Kon, wasn't interested in info about the desert, all he wanted was its location. Clicking on the images a big map of the USA came up, with the location of the desert high-lighted in a bright yellow color. He knew where he was heading. Throwing the laptop on his bed he put on his jeans and his black T-Shirt with the giant red S on the front.
Rushing downstairs he met with his aunt who said "Well look who woke up early. Aren't you going to eat something. What's the rush?". Conner replied "No I am not. I am meeting up with Clark." Martha Kent sighed and murmured fine. " You boys be careful." "Yes, we will. Bye!" Conner said seriously while popping a kiss to her cheek and run outside. The morning breeze hit him on the face welcoming him to its embrace. While checking around Conner made a swift move and elevated from the ground. When deciding where the desert was he started flying towards it.
The flight's duration was about 40 minutes, since he got lost a couple of times, but he came quickly on course. While flying over a particular spot he noticed a sillouette down there waiting. He used his enhanced vision and deduced that it was Clark. He swan dived like an eagle towards the ground. While a couple of feet away from it he tried to cut speed so as not to cause any comotion, but he wasn't quite successful, since a big cloud of dust went up in the air as he hit the ground, and a small crater of sand was formed all around him. "I am here. Am I late?" he said with a stable and serious one on his voice. "From where do we begin?" Conner asked eager to start.

When Conner arrived he looked over to him and smiled in greeting. "No you're not late I just arrived here early." He said. "And good morning." He added walking over to him. Then he thought about where to start. "Well it seems you have flying down." He looked over at a cactus. "Well I guess we could start with heat vision on that cactus over there." He pointed to the cactus he had in mind.
Then he stepped aside to give Conner room. "How's mom?" He asked seeing no harm in starting abit of conversation as well. Seeing as they were the only two here they might as well do something other then training.

"Good morning to you too" repeated Conner after Clark. He decided that Conner was handling flight pretty well, and that's why they should procceed ot heat vision. That was the part that Conner was anxious about the most. The truth was that he couldn't use heat vision. He didn't know why. Maybe he didn't have that power, or maybe it wasn't discovered yet. Either way he caould not shoot laser beam out of his eyes.
Either way he moved where Superman previously was, facing the cactus. Before he even started Clark started a conversation asking how aunt Martha was doing. Kon-El was relieved, but he saw no point in hiding it any longer, provided Superman didn't already know. "She's pretty good. Uhmm... look Clark I am not going to lie. The truth is that I neer could use heat vision. And that is the major reason why I asked you for training. I thought that maybe you could help me."

Clark looked over to Conner and smiled slightly. Well at least the boy was honest about it. "Well I'll have to stop and think about it.." He confessed. "I've gotten so used to it that its almost become second nature to me." He said as he started to think about how to describe it.
After a moments thought he looked back to Conner. "Well assuming you can do it the same way I can just look at the cactus and focus on it." He said glancing towards a nearby cactus. "Then envision yourself using your heat vision on it." He said as he demonstrated. "Its all about focus." He said looking back to Conner as the cactus he had used his heat vision on burned slightly. "And its good to hear that she's doing well. What about you?"

It was really embarrassing to admit it and Conner started to feel ackward. Relieved but ackward. Clark smiled as th boy he finished his explanation. Conner was curious of what was going inside his mind, worried if he thought that it was a waste of time. Clark jumped right to the chace explaining that the heat vision was almost like a second nature. Fortunately he started explaining a way of how to manifest it, like he does. Explaining further, Clark told him that he had to focus on the object and imagine himself burning it. It seemed way too easy to be true.
Test subject continued to be the cactus, from earlier. Conner stood aligned to it and started staring at it. He was staring at it so strogly that if it was a person it would already have called the police. He tried focusing only on the cactus. Nothing. This time he tried squinting his eyes. He could feel his ees getting unreasonably warm, but no result. Clark continued the conversation asking how he was doing." I am good. Trying to blend in, successfully. How about you? Saved the world recently?" Conner smiled as he tryed to turn the conversation around. He sighed "You know... maybe its my tactile telekinesis, the force field surounding me. Maybe if I can find a way to manipulate in a way so I can use heat vision, or at least bypass it" Conner suggested witing for Clarks thoughts.

When Conner didn't use heat vision the way Clark had hoped he winced. "Ok... You might have a point." He said. "I just assumed that yours would work the same way mine did." He said truthfully. "Maybe we should get a few other abilities down first then come back to this one?" He offered. He looked around trying to think of what else to teach him. Clark didn't see anything that would help him with x-ray vision... Assuming he could do it as well... "Tell me have you pulled a door that says 'open' by accident yet?" He asked with a small smile. Clark had made that mistake a few times over the course of his life on Earth. It always had an interesting out come.
"Maybe we could try to use Super-Breath?" He offered raising his eyebrows. He wasn't planning on forgetting about heat vision he just felt that maybe if Conner practiced with other abilities first then maybe he would figure out a way to use his own heat vision.

Despite all his powers Conner was feeling powerless that instant. He felt like he was letting Clark down, something he resinted to even think.Clark kidded and asked if he had pulled any doors by accident yet. " Far too many to remember!" Conner responded and chuckled. Then Clark suggested to pass that test and keep it till later. That seemed like a very good idea. The next trial would be Super- Breath. Thank goodness he knew he had that power. It was just he wasn't using it very often and didn't know what were its extends. " Hm. Superbreath huh. I have used this a couple of times by accident." Conner commeted and laughed, remembering the neighbours' house becoming airborn, and him flying around trying to spot it.
"So when you say Super-Breath you mean something like that..." he asked while inhaling very deep and then exhaling with all the force he had in him. He was making a face that he would normally laugh about but he was way concentrated to think something else. While exhaling a constant and huge blast of air was coming out of his lungs that was taking with it whatever found in its way. Sand was flying all over the place and cacti were being flown to the mountains opposite.{(OCC: FUS-RO-DAAAH! Sorry had to say it.)} When the atmosphere cleared up a path was formed the direction he breathed and piles of sand were covering the already existant one.
"...Or something like this?" he added while repeating the process only this time he inhaled only by his nose. When exhaling the same blast came out only, this time it was freezing everything it touched. The difference was that this time, the effect was seeminly weaker. The focus, distance and radious were smaller than the previous. It was definitely the most difficult to control and he needed assistance.

Superman chuckled slightly at hearing that he wasn't the only one who had messed up with a door. "You're not the only one. I've gotten to the point where I'll read the sign on the door closely before I even touch it."
He watched Conner use his superbreath and nodded at his question. "Yes like that. You seem to be able to control that one" Then he paused after a second of thought. "But remember to try and watch yourself when you sneeze." He said in a mentoring tone.
He looked at the now frozen surroundings and smiled abit as it gave him an idea on how he could later train Conner with his heat vision. "Do you want to practice it at all?" He asked wanting to know just in case there was something else that was more pressing on Conner's mind.

Superman joked further about the door incidents. It was nice that Superman and he had both same experiences. Hell, he wanted to be like the man, how happy could he be. After demonstrating his super- breath and Superman gave him the "pass" to the next exercise, he felt content. Then Clark adviced him to be carefull when he sneezed. Unfortunately it was too late. If he had told him that a few months back. He did not disclose his experience. Instead he simply replied "Took note of that..."
Clark asked him if he wanted to train at all. The truth as told earlier, that he wasn't there for a general training of abilities. All he wanted to do was focus on the one that couldn't properly develop. "Uhmm... actually I think we should pick up where we left on the heat vision one." Superboy stated more sure of himself that time.

Clark frowned as he tried to think about how he could train Conner on how to use his Heat Vision. It seemed Conner's Heat Vision worked differently then Clark's version. "Do you have any ideas on how your version might work?" He asked. "My method didn't seem to work out for you." He said truthfully.
He looked at the frozen terrain around them seeing it was already beginning to melt. "Well you could try to melt the ice around us with your Heat Vision. I will re-freeze a few of the items around us and you could melt them?" He offered still not quite sure how Conner's powers worked due to his tactile telekinesis.

Conner had not given up. He was determined to learn how to control his heat vision, if he had any, and he was going to do it, no matter what. Clark suggested to leave aside the method being taught by him as it seemed to remain ineffective and try thinking of anythere way, with which can pull the barrier up. Conner looked around and spotted a frozen cactus, something induced by him. It made the perfect target, escpecially for an ability, based on combustion and friction. Speaking of friction an idea suddenly flashed to his mind. An idea that he was more willing to share with Clark to get his thoughts on it.
"I can somewhat control my tactile telekinesis. If I can exploit and utilize this ability to my advantage then maybe I could enable my Heat Vision. The way I see it, I focus my telekinetic power on a particular spot until the appropriate friction power is applied for combustion and then maybe, hopefully, the Heat Vision follows the telekinesis pathway. Something like a spark before the fire." And so, Conner took the previous position against the cactus. He was even more focus than before. He could feel the tactile field surrounding him, literally moving and morphing a straight line, vigorously pulsing in place. To be honest this was taking way too much of his stamina, and he could feel his head stariting to ache. But when he was about to stop the process, the cactus started to smoke to the concentration point, and upon that occurance his eyes started to burn like they never did before. He couldn't see it but probably a ray popped out of his irides that penetrated the cactus. The hole was not very big but it was a start. The ice that was laying on the desert plant was starting to turn into water around the point of impact. Conner grinned and with a confused tone he yelled "i....I think I did it..."
