Victor had been pacing around before the class for the past hour and a half gesturing and actively speaking about the Lost Colony of Roanoke. He had been giving the history of how it was first settled in in the late 16th century and then about the history of how the effort to colonize that area got underway. And then he of course went in depth with how it got the nickname of the 'Lost Colony'
"Now you see there are many who believe that the colonist simply assimilated into the local Native American tribes." He said as he looked out at the class. He saw some who were clearly uninterested about the topic due to the fact that they were currently drooling all over the desks in front of them and he saw even more so texting away on their phones. "There are others who feel the colonist just gave up waiting and hopped on a ship and tried to return to England on they're own and." He paused as he noticed that the 'texters' hadn't even budged. "Were abducted by aliens in the mid-Atlatic." He said knowing that who ever was paying attention would know that he was joking with that last statement.
He then looked at his watch s saw that his time was up. He clapped his hands together loudly so that everyone who was sleeping would wake up and just to see the 'texters' jump. "Ok that's all for today. I hope too see you all again next time and be sure to study. If you have anything you need to turn in I'd recommend doing it today by 4pm." He said as the rush to leave the class began. "Kara got a sec?" He asked conversationally so any others who heard them hopefully wouldn't think that Kara was behind. He started to shuffle the papers that had been dropped off on his desk and straighten up his glasses as well.

Kara had been stuck in the class most of the afternoon. From class to class she went today. Oh, how she could dislike the schedule they bogged her down with because of her excellent work. Sometimes she was half tempted to hold back a bit. But it just wasn't in her.
She wanted to prover to her cousin Clark that she could handle things on her own. Very always talked so highly about her job if they knew him and how brilliant he could be. And Kara was also doing to not cheat herself of what she could really do.
But right now, the lecture seemed to go on. At least it wasn't like the three hour night classes. She had tried to take notes, but her mind was off set because of a paper she knew she had forgotten. She just hoped she could get out of there unnoticed.
She had been so busy with trying to grunt work for the League that she had forgot her school work. But she wanted to get into the League. And she knew would be able to at some point. She hadn't been pulled for very many missions. Besides a few crowd controls at times. And she hated the small stuff like that.
So as class went on, she payed had attention. But when the professor said something about aliens at the end, she sat up slightly straighter. He had more of her attention more so now. But class was now over.
Kara grabbed her book bag and was headed for the door when she heard her name being called. As she stopped she cringed slightly. She knew what this was about. He had noticed the missing paper....
Kara stopped and turned around and headed back toward him. "Yes, Professor Grant," Kara asked.

Victor looked at Kara as she walked over and once she got close enough set the papers he had in his hands down. "I just wanted to make sure you realized the assignment was due?" He said in a tone that had more concern in it then disappointment. After all Kara was one of her best students if not his best and he didn't want to see her grade drop due to a simple late paper.
"You're not having any personal trouble are you?" He asked remembering how close he had come to failing his time in college when he had a string of personal trouble. If that was the case then maybe he could ask Cana if she could et one of her kind to choose Kara as a host. Be a constant reminder that she had something to do. But that would be too cruel in his mind.
"I'm not gonna scold you or anything though. Its not my place to do that." He said looking at her over his glasses that were once again slipping down his nose."But due to your GPA I'm gonna remind you." He said not quite sure why he's repeating what he had in essence said before just using different words.

"Yes, I did...when I saw everyone handing it in," she admitted a bit embarrassed that she had forgot such and easy paper.
Well easy for her since she could write it within a few moments or minutes compared to the average human. Of course she did listen to Clark's advice as far as not taking the short cuts. She only did that on a tight schedule. She wasn't like the Big Blue Boy Scout. And Clark knew that pretty well.
But she did slow down from time to time to actually get the work done like a normal student. Even if she was still quick a bit with the actually work. Her mind just worked faster than others.
"No. There's not trouble at all," she jumped in right away to a sure him.
She looked over at the stack of papers. She didn't remember the full subject. She had been so busy lately with a few missions she had taken on her own to help give her experience, working toward leveling her up for the League to keep and eye on her.
Her eye sight zoomed in slightly on the title on the top paper. Ok, now she knew what to make sure to get. She only took a second to do so. So Professor Grant wouldn't even have noticed her actions. After all, not like he would be able to tell she had zoom type lens action with her sight.
"No worries. I can either hand it in by this evening or by morning," Kara said. She tried to make it look like she only needed a bit more to it. And that she had just forgotten to complete it. When really she hadn't even started it.
Though it would be no problem for her to get it started and finished within a matter of minutes. "I am sorry professor. I didn't mean to forget to finish it and hand it in today. I had to run out of town a few time and over this weekend for a few family matters," she said.
That was no lie at points. When she had went to help the Titans. And a few times had agreed to work with Clark on a few matters in Metropolis. There had been a possible small trace amount of kryponite some where in the city and they had talked about keeping an eye on any possible shipments of stand crystals coming into any cities up the east coast.

Victor suppressed a chuckle when Kara commented on when she remembered. He knew that feeling all to well. He could remember all the countless times he had to run across campus in hopes that he could get it turned in in time.
Victor looked at the stack of papers again and then back to Kara. "Ok I'm glad there's no trouble." He said feeling some relief come up. When she mentioned that she could get in turned in by the evening he glanced at his watch. "Well it isn't actually due till four." He glanced up at the clock after looking away from his watch. "But because you're a rather good student I'd be willing to let you turn it in tomorrow morning. I'll be in my office at six." He said after she finished talking about having to go out for family matters. "I understand completely about family matters so I'm not going to get upset about that."

"Ok, then I'll get it in then," she said.
She glanced back at him. She had seen him look over at the papers as well. And she was glad he was giving her some lenience on the matter.
Kara hadn't per say lied flat out. She just extended her family to her friends as well. Which she really does. They are like family to her and helped her get by. As well as get used to earth and their strange ways.
"Thanks. Yeah, family matter can get a bit out of hand at times depending what is going on with everyone," she admitted. But not going into much detail.

Victor looked up at the clock again then back at his watch again out of pure habit. It was nearing lunch time and he had promised a fellow teacher that he would share teaching tips over lunch. "Ok so either four or six which ever time you can get it in." He said with a slight nod.
When Kara commented about family matters Victor let out a slight chuckle. "Ain't that the truth." He said taking a covert glance towards the back corner of the room and seeing Cana standing there like she always did. None of the students knew of course. And Kara probably didn't know that Cana was the 'family' he was referring to.

"Alright then, I'll drop it off at one of those points," Kara said.
She then looked at the clock. She was going to have to run to get to her next class. But she wasn't too concerned. "Thanks," Kara said as she turned and walked quickly.
The afternoon went fast. By the time Kara's last class was over, it was already two in the afternoon. She'd have to hurry and get that paper down.
After the class, she rushed off to her dorm-room. She was usually only there for part of the week. Most of the time Kara could manage flying between cities and friends places like the Titans.
Zipping around her dorm-room, she was putting this away and getting books out and her computer. Seeing a picture of Clark, Connor, and her, she gave a sorry expression on her face. "Sorry Clark, but when grades come to the matter after crime fighting it has to get down some how," she said out loud to no one.
Then she sat down at her desk. Her fingers typing faster than anyone could have ever seen. And searching the web while going between the books and typing the paper. Lets face it, Kara loved having super speed.
Which in several minutes, she had gotten most of the paper down. She'd slow down to look it over then continued til she finished. It had only taken about a half hour with her actually taking the time to look over it.
Now she had to wait a bit to turn it in. She couldn't make it look rushed. And it didn't how it was typed. Kara looked at her computer as she was typing a letter back to a classmate online, that a few of the keys weren't working now. Oops. She'd have to remember to ask Clark if he could maybe help pay for that to get fixed. Though he'd know who it got broken to begin with. But there were plenty of computers around campus she could still use.
At about 3:30, Kara showed up outside of Professor Grant's office. She knocked on the door.

Victor nodded as he placed his fedora at its customary place atop his head. "Ok then I'll see you later." He said placing the papers into a folder. He turned out the lights as they left the room and after closing the door he hurried off to a dinner that was down the road.
He spent the better part of an hour trying to explain why he dressed up and got into character for some topics he thought he didn't have much success in explaining it but he did manage to score a free lunch so in his mind he still benefited in the end.
After his lunch he made his way back to the campus and hid away in his office grading papers. He had his fedora sitting on his desk and his computer opened to his email.... Which was rather bare and empty at the moment. Just the odd newsletter or too. Other then that there was nothing out of the ordinary in his inbox. He had his trench coat hanging on a nail by the door and papers strewn out on his desk.
When he heard the knock at the door he glanced at the clock then his watch and realized what time it was. He got up and shuffled through the mess in his office before getting to the door and opening it to see Kara. "I'm guessing you finished it eh?" He said glancing at his watch again more out of habit then anything else.

"Yeah, I actually managed to get enough time this afternoon to finish it," Kara said as he asked her the question.
She saw him check his watch for the time. Kara noticed and asked,"I'm not late am I?"
There was slight concern to her voice since he had said four o'clock. She had lost time herself as she had been working. Kara had only one thing on her mind that afternoon to do the paper and get it turned in.
She was thankful Grant gave her the chance to do so without losing any points.

Victor looked up from his watch at her question and it took him a while to find out why she asked it. "Oh no its just a habit." He said after he realized what she meant.
He almost fell into his old habit when greeting guests and offered Kara in but didn't because it might be viewed an inappropriate seeing as he was a teacher and she was a student. So instead he just glanced at the paper then back at Kara.
"Sooo.... Is there anything else you need help with?" He asked. It was clear that he still wasn't used to things like this. He had just started to really get used to the idea of being the teacher seeing as it wasn't all that long ago he was in her place as a student.

"Um...No. Not that I think of," Kara was shaken back into action again.
She had gotten lost on questioning him. She stuck the paper out to hand it to him. The full ten pages there. The date and title just like any other paper.
"Sorry if it is a bit rushed. I did what I could for the last two or three pages and the citations," she said.
it was a half truth and Kara knew it. She had just written the full paper that afternoon.

Victor nodded slightly at her saying there wasn't anything else she needed help with and took the paper when she handed it to him. "Ok don't worry about it. I'm sure you did a good job." He said absentmindedly.
He felt Cana leaning over his shoulder looking at the paper. He again felt relief that he was the only person that could she her as far as he knew. Well... Only one who could see her without reading minds.
"I know how ya feel. I once did an entire paper on the Roman military on the day it was due." He said as he glanced at the pages. He would have to try and grade it along with the others before next week that way he could keep on his own personal schedule. "So I guess I'll see you next time?" He said more out of habit then anything else.

"I hate that feeling when it comes to being rushed in a situation." Kara said over his comment of having a paper done in one day.
Stress was something she like to avoid when she could. Fighting was one thing, but stress on earth and having to face it as a human was different. It wasn't like she could take off flying when she wanted to.
She always had to be concerned over who saw her and who she was. Supergirl and Kara were two different individuals to the public. At least when she hung with the Titans and Clark she didn't have to worry.
But in the eyes of the JL, she had to behave as Supergirl. There were expectation of the man of steels cousin to uphold. As well as is if she really wanted to be in the League.
"Yeah, probably. I have another of your classes in the morning any ways. Or was it you lecture for the campus to join in on in the morning," Kara questioned.
Her mind was a but rattled by having to rush this afternoon.

Victor nodded in response to what she said. "Its not a fun feeling. A big problem I tend to run across is that I get too carried away in reading about something that I forget to write down what I know." And that was true there were many times he had to write an essay on Rome or the Soviet Union or something else along those lines and he would get to distracted by reading about them that he would forget to take notes for his paper.
When she mentioned the lecture Victor frowned abit trying to remember what she could have been talking about. When he realized what it was he snapped his fingers. "I forgot all about that." He said quickly setting her paper down on his desk and grabbing his fedora. He stepped out of his office and started to close the door. "I'm gonna be doing a special lecture on myths and legends and I need to make sure I know where I'm going in the morning." It was part of special event the college president had decided to do where over the next three months they would be getting speakers, either from the University staff or special guest speakers, to come in and give a lecture on something related to culture. And Victor had been chosen to give the lecture based off how myths and legends play a part in human culture.
