Getting away from Gotham has perhaps been the best choice made. But in some ways it has proven to be a challenge on it's own. New town. New people. But the same old crooks, though with some new methods.
This was Bludhaven. A town crawling with crime. More so than Gotham in a lot of ways. A big responsibly. A big recovery. No one had taken it on. Til now...
4:45am
Another night on patrol. And a busy one at that. Nightwing had managed to bring down two low key gangs and one jewelry thief that had evaded the police earlier that day.
A lot of these crooks had more guts than the ones in Gotham. Striking in broad daylight. How much dumber could one person be. Then again the cops were in a corrupt system themselves. More than what any town had ever since in a long time.
Maybe it was another reason, Batman didn't approve of the move. Or just thought it was over Nightwing's head to be able to handle such a city. Well so far, Nightwing was making a bit of a difference.
After a long night of patrol. And it has been a long night if he was still out at this time. But Nightwing was still doing one last sweep of the town before he would head back to his place to go a little research and updating on his own computers and then get some rest to start his normal day on the streets.
Standing on a rooftop as the sun was barely up he could spot something coming about a mile away. The red and blue colors gave it away as to what could be flying his way.
Nightwing perched on the ledge for a moment to give the person the chance to come up.
"Long time, no see," Nightwing greets the hero.

Things were rather slow in Metropolis at the moment. So Superman thought that it would be a good idea to go see how Nightwing was doing. Also it couldn't hurt to try and get information on how Batman what Batman was up to.
He flew to the city of Bludhaven then stopped when he saw him. "Yes it has been." He said in response to Nightwing's greeting. Superman gave him a quick look over and saw that he was doing rather well. He wondered if he still had that motorcycle.
He gently touched down on the roof next to Nightwing and looked at him. "So how have you been doing?" He asked. He figured someone had to start the conversation so why not him?

Nightwing stood up in return as Superman approached him. A slight smile came to his face as the man came closer.
Superman had always been someone Dick looked up to when growing up. Whether Bruce liked it or not when he was younger, Dick always enjoyed the chance to talk with Superman. Even though the gruesome Bat always lurked in the shadows and tried to keep a strike work discipline of how to act when encountering superheroes or other vigilantes.
Though Bruce didn't seem to understand the energy of the young acrobat at first. But over time it had changed. And Dick had proven himself a lot when he had been with the Titans.
"I've be good. Out on my own, town's quiet for now. Can't complain," Nightwing spoke up.
He looked at Superman and new there was something else on his mind. "I have a feeling this is more than a social call and more of a check in," he said.
He knew this because just about everyone came to him when they wanted to know what the Batman was up to. They'd figure a partner of his would know. Even his ward of all people since he had worked with him the longest. But Dick could still answer the questions.

Superman was pleased to see that Nightwing was still doing well. When he saw the smile he couldn't help but muse at the face that even though it was small. It was more then Batman would ever show.
"Well its good to hear that your doing well." He said looking Nightwing over. He didn't have a few similarities with Batman......... But only a few. For example the one he showed just now was getting straight to the point. But then again that's probably something everyone in this line of work should have.
"I wish it could be a social visit." He said. "But your right I would like to know abut about how Batman is doing." He said. "I'm always slightly concerned with his methods." He added.

"Two things that are never good to have in the same sentence over Batman..Concerned and methods," Nightwing spoke up.
"You know if you were talking with the Bat himself, he'd give you a good reason to reconsider your worries. That and probably tell you to worry about yourself and that he'd handle things his way whether it concerns you or not," he said straight out. Almost to a serious extent. Leaving there nothing but silence between them for a moment.
Then a smile broke out on his face. "I'm just saying what you'd probably hear from him," Dick replied, more being himself again than the serious vigilante that most of the Bat-family could be,
He shifted a bit as he stood there talking with Superman. It was no big deal having a catch up chat with the Man of Steel. Not like Nightwing had anything better to do. Besides head back and take on the day life as Dick Grayson once again.
"But as for how he's doing...That's always a tough one to answer. We hardly speak that much since I've moved to Bludhaven. Robin gives me some taps and updates here and there," he said. "Is there any particular event that has cause this concern to have to be addressed to my attention? Not like I could do much to stop him if there is something serious."
A bit of a lie considering how bullheaded the two of them were. Dick could be just as stubborn as Bruce and sometimes greater to a point. But it was still if Batman wanted it his way, he'd find away to have it at that.

He listened to Nightwing talk and had to admit everything he said was true. Which is the main reason he came to Nightwing. That and the fact that him showing up in Gotham without a good reason might not be the best idea.
When he finished he smiled. "Which is why I came to you." He said with a nod.
"Well since you ask there is something." He said in response to any particulars. "There was that bomb and the bridge re-opening ceremony." He said. "I happened to be there and I was wondering if he had learned anything more about it. And if I should be worried about it." He finished.
Then after that he shrugged. "Other then that nothing pressing." He said. Well he couldn't just come and go like this. "Well is there anything I could help you with while I'm here?" He offered. He didn't see any harm in offering some help. Even if it were for something small.

Dick listened to Superman as they stood there. Ok, bridge bombings and information. He processed this in his mind. A mental-note to maybe bring up with Batman or Robin the next time he had contact.
"As for if he knows more...You know as well as I do that he probably has by now. And probably more so than the police would have in a week," Nightwing clarifies. This was just him speaking from knowledge of just how much Bruce kept up on everyone else outside of his city.
"Trust me, if he shows up at some point and wants to notify you on anything, he will whether you like it or not," Dick replies with a smuggle look on his face.
Everyone knew by now his mentor would make his presents known if he wanted to and when he wanted to. He didn't follow the usual rules of knocking first before entering. As for the shot first and ask questions later...That was usually bring them down first then intimidate them into answers.
"Hmmm...Do I need help from the Man of Steel," Nightwing says as he slowly paces the edge of the building.
"There is one theory that Robin and I some times debated over...," he starts in. He comes back from pacing the length of the building, stopping a few feet from Superman. "How well can the Big Blue keep up and hunt down a Bat vigilante," Nightwing smirks over leaving the "Boy Scout" part out of it. Knowing that that was what Batman often referred to Superman as at times.
"We can test this theory out on the count of one...," he said as he took a step back a bit. At the same time in a small motion getting ready to pull out a grappling line. This would go unnoticed to many people but maybe those in the Bat-family.
"Two...," he spoke again.
Then before the three was to be said, he stepped backwards off the building and let himself free fall for a bit before the grapple line shot off at a near by building and started the zip line as it pulled him in.
"Three," he shouted out as he got the head start. He used the zip line to swing off of as he built the distance between them. Knowing Superman could catch him in a heart beat in the air. This called for the hitting the lower roof tops and just keep going.
He hit the zip release and tumbled for a landing and got to his feet quickly before running and flipping off the building to another. Sure Superman would be able to see him, but how well could he stop the acrobat in action.

As Nightwing explained how most likely Batman knew more then anyone could have found out in a week he nodded. "That does sound right." He had a slight smile on his face as he thought of that fact.
"And I guess I'll keep my eye out for him then." He said as he brought up the fat that Batman would show up if he wanted Superman to know anything. S unless that happened he wouldn't worry over much about it.
When Nightwing brought up the bet he had he found himself smiling when he heard what it was. "You want me to chase you down?" He asked. Then when he saw the boy drop of the side of the building he knew things where safe. He was after all part of the Bat-family.... Yes most defiantly part of the Bat-family.
He waited for a few seconds before starting to chase him down. He caught up quickly, after all he could fly at an astounding speed. And when he found him he hadn't expected to have to wind through the buildings and so he slowed down and started using his various modes of vision he found him again. He then flew towards him he eventually caught up to him and pulled up beside him "Does this count as catching?" He asked.

Nightwing kept running from building level to building level. The heights getting a bit higher at times and lower. All the same within his strength to make the jump. He didn't pull out the zip line just yet again.
But as he continued his movement, it was no doubt Superman would catch up just like that within moments. He knew the speed of the Man of Steel. Who wouldn't when you looked up to the guy? That and this was Superman after all.
And when Superman pulled up long side of him and he continued on as the man could ask him a question without having to worry about being warn out so easily. Nightwing just glance over at him and a smirk came to his face again.
"Who said it was going to be that easy," he said as the next leap he took a drop off the building. Using the walls and fire escape to get safely to the ground before he took off again. The alleys were his best cover.
The sunlight had get to such most of the street level. The buildings still casting dark shadows as the sun came up. Nightwing's suit was designed to take to light shades. Getting darker when in hiding. Another one of Wayne's Lab products of course.
Nightwing would resurface if he wanted to. But the little drop off might throw Superman off for a moment or two only giving Nightwing that much more of a chance against before Superman would catch up. And Nightwing made sure to go down the most narrow alleys ways of the lower part of the streets. More fire escapes, signs, and what not hanging low. Easy if Sup's stuck with the advantage of the sky, but might loose Nightwing if he went down another alley way.
He cleared fences with ease. Flipping over to the other side. He'd pull the line out when he got the chance. And he knew this city like the back of his hand. And when he turned a corner, not checking if Superman was in fact on his tail, He jumped over a cornering fence and right after used his acrobatic skill to jump up and swing up the set of a fire escape.
As soon as he saw his chance when Superman had past and probably had noticed his ditching method, he pulled out the zip line again. This time aiming higher. And swinging faster with the motion of the line. He made it to the tops of the building again. Running and jumping again. This time onto a water tower. He'd use the height to his advantage again to jump.
Not bothering to look back for Superman. He knew he'd catch up soon enough. Though Dick had found ways to out smart Kid Flash several times before. Proving to be a worthy opponent in sparring matches. Just another trick of the trade with the Bats.
It probably hadn't even been over a few minutes that he had been running. He was even wondering if Superman was just giving him those moments for his own entertainment. He'd say next time to not take it so easy on him.
As for the catching part...That was part of the fun of it. Batman had taken on Superman before in other ocassions. But Nightwing wasn't about to pull kryptonite out on him at any time. Not that Batman had for combat against the guy.
This was just Nightwing's way of getting his daily work out done and over with. Besides, he's fought metas and aliens before. Not like it wasn't a challenge. This was all kind of fun and games to re-leave the stress of the work lately.
And Nightwing could definitely go for a good spar against someone who can take the hits.

It was clear to Superman that Nightwing was going to try something.. He just didn't expect him to once again jump off a roof. He zipped down to catch up with him but then had to stop when he saw that now they were in the alleyways.
Now if they weren't in the twist and turns of the alleys Superman wouldn't need to worry about catching him. He was fast enough. But there was the worry of flying through the alleys and taking out a few walls. So there was no need to be careless.
By the time he looked around Nightwing had vanished. So he got ready to use his x-ray vision. He didn't think it would work seeing as Nightwing used to be Batman's protege. So he probably had some kind of safe guard against it. He smirked at the thought. So instead of trying hard to find him with vision he just took a lucky guess.
He flew through the alleys for a while longer before he saw a figure running. He assumed it was Nightwing and set off after it. He found it rather refreshing to be chasing someone who actually tried more then the over used knocking the trash can over trick. Why the thugs used that against Superman he never knew. After all he was flying.

Nightwing was now on the roof tops not too far off from Superman. Running and jumping. This time trying to make himself known to the superhero.
Besides what was the fun in just the chase. The fight was part of the action. And it was a good work out in the morning.
"Seeing as you have super hearing, it shouldn't be hard for you to pick up on his," he said as he move across three more buildings with in that time.

Superman heard him talk and quickly located the source of his voice. After all one learned how to locate by sound when one hovers above a city listening for trouble. As opposed to a signal.
He swooped down on Nightwing and grabbed his shoulder and lifting him up off the roof tops like a bird of prey swooping down on a mouse.
He chuckled abit has he held Nightwing off the ground just enough so that if he dropped from his hands he would only fall a foot or two. "I guess I caught you didn't I?" He commented humorously.

Nightwing did expect for Superman to catch him right away. But then to lift him off the ground a bit. "Haha, very funny," Dick started as he crossed his arms.
"But not exactly my idea of catching," he said.
A smirk came to his face. "You really think I'd play it that easy," he said as he hoped he caught Clark off guard for the moment.
As just then he swung a bit to get out of Superman's grip if he could. And when he did, he would flip a few feet away. Challenging Superman.

When Nightwing flipped away from his grip Superman smiled some what amused. "Your challenging me to a fight?" He asked.
He landed on the roof top in front of him and raised an eyebrow. "You know the nickname the press has stuck me with?" He added in an amused tone. "I hope you don't have any kryptonite with you." He added as a joke.

"No better way to challenge you," he smiled at him.
He very well knew the nickname of Superman. But it wasn't going to stop him. This was more for the work out. Besides, that how the training usually was back with the Titans. Dick knew better than to try and punch the Man of Steel in the chest or anything like that compare to some street thug.
"Yeah, yeah. Is that just your way of trying to back out," he challenge him, but in a very joking way.
"And just to assure you that I will not cheat, you can take my word I don't have the kryptonite on hand," he said honestly.
He looked at him. "So what are we waiting for? Lets fight," he said with a smirk. Nightwing then pulled out a few wing-dings and threw them in Superman's direction as he would then charge out with his escrima sticks.
Sure a bold move vs. Superman. But this was more for Nightwing to try his own reflexes again Superman and have a real work out. This would just be a better chance for him to learn to move quicker against Superman's strength.
