The old T.V screen in the bus station leaned on the bracket. The screws barely held it onto the wall as it vibrated into life. The screen crackled and fizzed as the the announcers voice rang out in the deserted seating area.
"The time is 2:30pm here on Gotham Pay-per-View and I think you all know what happens now. It's time to enter the Madhouse..."
The theme tune of the program roared into life and awoke all the other sleeping tramps.
A second voice sounded out as the montage of pictures flickered infront of the audience's faces.
"Two years ago, infamous and notorious super criminal, The Joker, was released from the secure institution Arkham Asylum. After months of searching for an honest career after claiming to have turned over a new leaf, the former mob boss walked into the front doors of the Metropolis Studios building with an idea. An idea for a brand new reality TV show that brought actual action to the audience. Guns, Cars, Girls, Explosions and Blood. So, Gotham Central Pay-per-View is proud to present to you The Joker's Madhouse! A show dedicated to raw action! Contestants enter this secure location somewhere in Gotham City in a bid to win $5,000,000 and escape from the madhouse with their lives! But it's not that simple... After each contestant reaches the final round, they must face the fiercest and most vicious inmates of Blackgate Prison and Arkham Ayslum into one super violent group know only as Team Joker. Who wins, they decide! And now we are proud to hand you over to the Madhouse and you're host the next 3 hours entertainment, The Joker!"
The screen flickered to a shot from a helicopter. It's circled a large and rugged make shift coliseum illuminated by flood lights. In it stood thousands of fans, all baying for blood and gore. The fans cheered and shouted as the voice handing them over to their new host faded out. Music began to start over the background.
The Joker's silhouette was illuminated from the entrance tunnel on the big screen at the far end of the area. A cane in one hand raised to his head and a microphone in the other. The crowd began to chant his name over and over as they began to bang a beat around the pit. He began to speak into his microphone, rallying the crowd.
"People of Gotham! Are you ready? I said, people of Gotham, are you ready? Then let's enter the Madhouse! Tonight, we have a merry mass murder mega-sized package of entertainment for you! Tonight's first round we have for you the beginning ultimate battle between good and evil. In the red corner we have, the Lewis Carroll crazy combatant: The Mad Hatter!"
The left hand side of the pit was illuminated with a bold spotlight. A iron gate ground open as the crowd chanted.
"Hatter! Hatter! Hatter!"
"And in the blue corner, the furious fur covered fighter, the Hound of the B-asskicker-villes, Wulfen!"
A second gate on the right side of the pit. The crowd began to howl in unison. As the combatants entered the ring, The Joker walked into the commentary box at the rear of the arena. His black coat flapped against the wind and the braces pressed against his pale White skin.
"Whoever wins this round will win the title of Brawler and advanced to the next stage! Let the murder begin and remember boys...in the Madhouse..."
The crowd spoke in unison with The Joker as he locked himself in the commentary box.
"NO RULES MEANS NO MERCY!"
