Alice carried her books in her arms, her backpack slung over one shoulder. She had been here two years already, and it was the start of a new term. Time sure did fly when learning...or so her mother had said. She smiled a little, feeling a bit homesick, her mind wandering back to Clarence, the trees, the flowers, the open fields..
Her attention was jolted back by the bell signalling the 2-minute warning to get to class. Alice re-checked her schedule, and noticed that it was History. She smiled, hoping that this teacher would make History seem as alive and adventurous as Father had when he told her stories of battles and historical eras. They seemed like a whole other world, just a touch away..
She found the classroom, and entered, finding her seat and setting her books down, getting out a notebook and pencil, ready to learn.

Victor was sitting just around the corner. He had a........ different approach in mind. He watched a few people enter the class room. And then when he heard the two minute warning he looked at he watch. He waited for the last two seconds and then silently snuck to the door of the classroom. He then looked himself over and grinned at what he saw. He was certain that no one in the classroom had ever seen a teacher do what he was about to do. The course he was teaching this time was American History from the American Civil War on up to Modern Day. And so he thought he would start his first day as a teacher dressed like none other then General Grant of the Union Army.
Victor straightened up and entered the room with a military like stride. He walked up to the desk set up for the teacher and straightened the books he had placed on it earlier. He acted as if there was nothing strange about what he was wearing. He then picked up the marker and wrote his name on the black board. Then he turned to the class.
"My name is Victor Grant. No I did not make that up Its just a coincidence that I share the last name with who I'm dressed as." He said clearly in his best Ohio accent. "I would prefer that you call me Victor. I don't feel very comfortable with Mr. Grant. But if you don't feel comfortable calling me by my first name then I'll understand and I won't mind." He paused after saying that. "Now I am not much older then alot of you so I know your tricks." He said glancing around the room. "But I also understand your plight." He added with a grin. "So don't worry I'll be merciful." Then he sat on the stool that was placed at the front of the class. "Now Instead of calling roll today. I'm going to ask you to stand and state your name. And my teachers did this to me. State your Major if you want to. This is all so I can place a face with the name." He said holding up the roll sheet. "Lets start over here." He said pointing to the seat closest to the door. Then he shot his hand into the air. "By the way I would like to thank the theater department for lending me this outfit and-" He suddenly cut off what he was going to say. "This accent is kinda hard for me" He said with a laugh. "But I can do Scottish really well!" He said with a jovial Scottish accent.
He then let the students who were willing to to rise and state who they were. After which he told all those who didn't stand to come up to him and introduce themselves in person.
Then he started to pace around the room while giving his introductory lecture. He felt kinda strange......... It was only about two years ago or so he was the student.......... Now he's up hear teaching class. Dressed as General Grant at that! He finally heard the bell go off and then he looked at the time.
"Alright we're finished for today I'll see you all next time. Assuming I haven't scared you all off." He said. He then walked over to his desk and started picking up his books and fishing out his glasses. He then put them on and smiled. "That's better. And I need to return this outfit too. Get into some more comfortable." Just then he looked up and saw a blonde picking her books up. "How'd I do?" He asked. More trying to make idle conversation then anything else.

Alice smiled, amused from the very beginning. The moment the teacher entered the classroom, she knew this was not going to be any sort of boring History class. Things were going to be very interesting. She was one of the few who stood and introduced herself to Mr. Grant, or Victor, as he had requested. His costume was certainly overshadowing of anything any past History professors had done.
The bell rang, and everyone began to leave the classroom. It was the end of the day. As she had nowhere to be immediately, she took her time picking up her books. She smiled when Victor spoke to her, and noticed that he wore glasses. "I suppose they didn't really have glasses like that back in General Grant's days, did they..?" Alice commented with humor. He seemed to be trying to get used to the job..he didn't seem to have been a student that long ago himself, so maybe this was just very different for him. "I think it went well. I certainly am looking forward to what else you come up with for the semester, Professor Victor." she said with a smile.

When the student that introduced herself as Alice made the comment about glasses Victor smiled. "Not these kinds anyway. Plus Grant had better eyesight then I do." He said as he straightened up the books so he could carry then out.
"Just wait until we get to World War II. I won't even need the book for that time. Plus I have a few costumes I could use then. Though don't expect a costume ever time. I'm new so the theater department doesn't know I'll return any costumes I borrow yet." He said grinning. "So I did well, eh?" He said then after a few seconds. "I've never thought history to a class before. IT was always that guy who got something wrong when I was around. Then I lectured about history." He said grinning. Then he picked up the books and looked at Alice. "Though I couldn't get away with bringing a flask to finish off the costume."

Alice smiled, watching Victor. He was such a friendly person, and he obviously loved History. That much was demonstrated by the books and the costume, and the tone he got in his voice and the light in his eyes when he spoke about the world wars. She was sure that when they came to that period in the historical compendium, it was going to be very interesting. Not a day she would want to miss.
"Well, with costumes, I could always put in a word for you with the head of the theatre class, Ms. Gardiner. She knows me, and usually anyone I speak for she knows she can trust. As for the flask, well, you know, school rules. They don't want anything getting in." Alice said, with a small apologetic shrug. Rules were rules. But if the theatre department possibly had a flask...it was a possibility. All they needed to do was ask.

Victor grinned. "Well you see General Grant was a drunk. So a flask would have fit the costume perfectly. And I figured that a saber wasn't going through the parking lot." He said in an upbeat tone. "And thanks. I might have to take you up on the offer some time. Though I won't be wearing a costume every class." He said grinning with a slight laugh. "I might have a slight problem with World War II though." He added.
He was enjoying this day so far. He did a good job at teaching and he knew that he had one student that he hadn't scared off. Though he could just imagine all the videos and updates he had just spawned on the internet.
