Freeze was glad that the Ventriloquist did as he was told, he wouldn't have to kill him or imprison him yet he somehow wanted to do just that. He opened the crate and took the weapon which was a crystal. "This will do, my love" He took the crystal and put it into a machine that would analyze it and be used as a catalyst for the cure. The machine's energy flashed blue a few times. Then the waves stopped. He typed fast on the computer, equations, graphs, heart beat sensors, and chemical signatures all appeared in the room and around it.
Taking the crystal Freeze grabbed what he had of the cure and put it on the ground. Then putting the crystal inside a laser that would project a beam of energy made up of the crystal's contents into the cure. The crystal's contents were the final piece to reviving Nora and curing MacGregor's syndrome. The beam did just that, the cure sparked some smoke then it was over. Grabbing the cure, he did some more tests.
It was now or never, Nora was on a bed instead of a tube encased in water chemicals or ice. He toook the cure and put it into a needle which went into her blood stream. "Please wake , for I long to hold that tender hand, kiss those sweet lips, and be around you" He wanted this very badly, it had been many years since his accident, he hoped she would understand his condition and still love him. Love was something that made a heart warmer, not colder. If he was to regain his humanity he would need the woman who loved him back.
Freeze waited many hours, the heart beat didn't change though it didn't get worse. Altra and Shaka were beside Freeze, yawning or sleeping. Freeze used both his hand's to pet them, their soft white fur so soothing to his ached hand. Billy, knocked on the door, then coming in. "Hey boss, is mrs. Freeze getting better?" Billy was a thoughtful kid, though he didn't understand pain, real pain. "Slowly, though the cure will take time to get into her body and repair the damage". Even if it does work she wouldn't be able to move immediately." Billy nodded and then walked out, closing the frozen door behind him.

Nora had been somewhere, a murky color, sort of grey-pink. She wasn't sure for how long, it seemed like time didn't matter. The numb and empty colors around her faded and she saw blackness. Darkness. And her skin, she could feel a crawling, prickling, was she cold? She was...she was very cold.
Shivering violently, it was as if all her senses woke up with her first sharp shudder. She gasped, her lungs were burning and thick, as if she had swallowed sea water. She coughed, trying to take a deep breath. Her entire body ached from the effort, and Nora finally brought a small amount of icy blue liquid from her mouth.
She stared at the cobalt liquid, and then slowly surveyed the room she was in. It was just as bitterly cold looking as her shivering implied. Taking a few deep breaths, Nora tried to remember where she was...it wasn't the hospital. She should be at the hospital. No. She should be dead.
Like lightening shattering the darkness, Nora remembered. She had been in the hospital, Victor petting her hair. She had fallen asleep. Was she dead now? No. She hurt to much to be in heaven, and it was too cold to be hell.
Hesitantly, she lolled her head to the other shoulder, trying to take in her surroundings. The tiny movement made her dizzy and her neck cramped up.
But, where she was no longer mattered. Nora saw something else, someone else, far more important. The cold of the room made him a pale shade, he'd lost all of his hair, but Nora knew him immediately. A smile, despite the frigid air and the fact she was utterly confused, lifted the corners of her lips. All she could think to say was the usual phrase when she woke up next to him."Good Morning, Victor."

Victor turned around slowly, his face began to warm up so to speak. His legs felt renewed, and his spirit felt young again. "Nora!" He lightly hugged and kissed her, his lips were cold he could sense it, yet she felt weak still. "Oh how I longed for this day, when you'd be looking at me and feeling renewed again. Rest though, you need your rest." He almost cried, well a small tear did form. A tear of happiness, finally he would be able to leave his life of crime and be with here. Nora and his bears. He would build her a house, somewhere isolated, some place that Nora could get a job, see her friends, and were Victor could do his research and continue working on science. Yes! He could already envision it.
He walked over and grabbed some ice water. "Here, drink this" Putting it on the table next to Nora.

Nora's smile dimmed only when he pressed his lips to hers, it was a cold, frozen kiss. She only closed her eyes a moment before opening them again, her lips hurt from the bitter chill, colder than anything else around her. With him this close, she realized there was a sheen of ice across his skin.
Heart pounding in her chest, like a trapped animal at the walls, Nora wasn't sure if she should smile or cry. It was such a frozen touch..she couldn't even explain it...she wasn't the Cryogenics expert. His interest in the cold was always different, but this...she didn't even know what this was. Why was the room so cold, he so cold? Why was she so cold? What had he done? Still shivering, she tried to calm her heart, but her mind would not let her.
"What happened?" Nora knew she must have entered the coma stage of MacGregors, it was the only thing that explained the strange transition of locations.
"Are you alright?" Nora could see some of his eager sweetness, offering her the water. Honestly, she would have loved a warm drink, but her throat was sore enough to welcome anything to dull the pain. The next thought scared her, honestly and properly scared her. "How long have I been asleep?"
She paused long enough to breathe. "My-My goodness, Vic, did you do it? Did you find a cure?" Hope blossomed in her mind, a bright beautiful burst of joy. She reached up, with shaking hands, to take the water. She finally stopped babbling questions, eager to understand her current situation.

He knew it would take time for her to recover. How much time? Weeks or months at best. "You were diagnosed with MacGregor's Syndrome" Then when she asked him if he was alright he blinked his eyes, "Yes Nora, my resolve has been strenghtened and I have never given up on hope". So many questions with simple answers. " You have been asleep for three years. And yes I did cure the disease. I told you I would. Rest please" He wanted her to rest, Nora was a talker, Fries wasn't much of a talker but he wanted her to regain her strength, "More will be answered in time." He kissed her hand again. "Rest".
Walking away closing the door behind him, he took a short nap, feeling better. Altra and Shaka also slept on the bed. Billy, Carl, And Ricky were out grocery shopping. Victor made sure that they bought fresh salmon for the bears.

Nora sipped the water, sitting up a bit to keep from spilling it, the little movement made her back cramp. She swallowed hard, giving a small smirk as he was obviously not quite sure about all her questions. He must have been used to how quiet she had been the last three years. She could hardly believe that she had been asleep that long. The story of Rip van Winkle popped into her head and she wondered how much had changed while she had been gone.
Another urging to rest, a frozen kiss to her fingers, and Victor was gone. It was hard for her to know if she was sad, she knew she should have been...but she felt only a release of tension from her heart. Slipping back down to lay flat on her back, Nora slowly, painfully, curled onto her side, trying to keep what little body heat she had trapped. Something clattered, metal. Glancing down, she saw her snowflake necklace. It was her favorite, and such a typical gift from Victor...something with an ice theme.
Victor. Nora stared at the door, exhausted although she had done nothing. This all seemed wrong, Victor's entire demeanor had changed. No soft, shy smiles. No thick square glasses, hiding his kindly eyes. No hesitance in his movement. The man who had just stood next to her was clipped in tone, he moved with determination, his eyes were no longer warm and sweet, but icy and calm.
Alone, and scared at what she had just seen. Nora curled in tighter and felt thin trickles of water escape her eyes...then she fell asleep, too tired to properly cry.

Victor woke up, to the sound of a door opening. The groceries were here. Victor would cook something refreshing, Ravioli. The sauce boiled and thickened as he added the spices into the metal pot. The smell was great, Victor liked cooking, especially for Nora. He put the pasta in the boiling water, and it began becoming softer. Within the next thirty minutes the food was ready. Victor loved food, especially italian. He loved chinese, italian, indian, and American. Yet he had hardly any time to eat, he was busy with the cure. But now he had cured the rare disease. Though he knew Nora would still have to take some medication to keep the cure up, nothing was fully cured. He would begind work on that in the next week.
He turned to Ricky, Carl, and Billy, "Serve yourself when your ready, the food is still hot." Grabbing a bowl for himself and Nora. He walked through the door, putting a bowl down next to Nora, he lightly woke her, "Time to eat, I made one of our favorites, Ravioli with sauce." He gave the bowl to her, a fork and a knife with it. He sat there watching her, she was still very beautiful. Though he had to tell her, "Nora, after I froze you, a man named boyle attacked me because I was using his equipment without telling him, he pushed me into a cryogenic chemical table. My body can only survive in sub zero temperatures. I have to wear a suit if I go to places above that, or else I will die. I hope you understand."

Nora uncurled, looking up at Victor, and then at the bowl that was set next to her. She reached her hands around it and grasped it gratefully, happy to feel something warm. She smiled, the strange feelings of fear vanishing for a moment. He'd made her dinner. Nora realized that even though she had only been sleeping, she had missed him.
He sat down next to her, and Nora almost felt better, it almost felt like things had not changed. She remembered them huddled close on their weathered couch, watching a horror movie while eating this same meal. Those times will come again, she assured herself. Very slowly, she swung her legs around, sitting up on the bed. She still couldn't move her legs, toes or fingers normally, but she assumed the feeling would come back soon.
Fork in hand, Nora took a mouthful of the ravioli and savored it. When Victor began talking, Nora's chewing slowed, and she could not quite make herself react to the news. "Okay." Nora managed to get out, trying to make sense of it, and not act as if she was shocked absolutely silly...which she was. Nora paused, this all sounded like nonsense. Yet here she was, frozen and brought back to life. Certainly she did not have his scientific mind, there were so many things she didn't understand.
Nora paused, cleared her throat, and took a deep breath. "I'm sorry. I guess I'm sort of shaken. It's...sort of surprising news to wake up to." With a smile, Nora set her bowl on her lap and pulled her hair back, away from her face. Taking a moment to silence her questions and to stop acting like some sort of interrogator...or scientist... every time he entered the room.
She looked up, taking in his pale skin and the hard lines around his mouth. "How do you live? Never feeling warmth, that...I can't imagine it." The pain of constant cold, she wouldn't wish on anyone. Certainly not the man she loved. Unwilling to think too deeply on how he must feel, Nora changed the subject. "You obviously have been busy. With a cure for MacGregors, you're going to be the talk of the entire scientific world.... My goodness, you've done what everyone thought was hopeless! Vic, you're going to be one of the most hailed scientists in the world!" Nora grinned, forgetting the pain, setting the bowl and fork aside, reaching out for his hand. "You're going to have everything you could ever dream of! You can save so many lives! You're going to be a hero to all those families!" He had never longed for such a thing so far as Nora had ever known, but she had wanted it for him. To see him be recognized as the brilliant man he was.

He took in all she said, "Yes, I could be. But I have everything that I want" He grasped her other hand tightly. " Nora, even though your cured you will have to take some shots. Though only once a year for at least two years." She was right he could change people's lives. But would it matter? People would still call him or arrest him for something or bully or harass him. The pain would never end. He would only do it for Nora, if she wanted him to. He would have to get a list from Billy with all those in Gotham with MacGregors though he assumed it was only Nora.
"In time yes, only if the people of Gotham viewed me as a scientist and not a rogue." He ate some of the pasta, it was delicious. He moved away from the bed looking into a mirror. "I longed to see you, and now that your here I feel different, I feel as if the work is complete. Though people will hurt you Nora, they constantly try to hurt me."

He didn't seem happy. If anything, he looked like the idea only saddened or frustrated him. Nora frowned, picking up her bowl and finishing her meal, which she probably should have complimented him on, taking in the awkward tension of the air.
Why on earth would he be a rogue? Nora's brow pulled into little furrows and she stared at her empty bowl. She was tired, she was sore again, she was confused, and now she was scared. He sounded bitter, and she had never heard that from him before. He had always been downtrodden when he was younger, but he never sounded so dark.
His comment about her as "work" that was complete stung deeply. As if she was a project, an experiment that was only interesting for so long as it was a challenge. Nora had never seen herself as a lab-rat to him, certainly not during her illness, as he had never been kinder to her. She had the horrible feeling that she had become one of his experiments to obsess about... no longer did he really want her. He just wanted to see the result of his work. In that moment, she knew that things were not going to be the same between them and that frightened her. She had seen what he could do to living creatures in the name of science.
Nora continued staring at the red-orange paste that coated the inside of the bowl, quietly pondering. She wriggled her toes, trying to get feeling into them. Never, ever before had Victor ever made her scared, even when he was that strange child that froze animals for reasons she still wasn't sure about. "We're not children any more, Vic.There is always hope. We don't have to hide away from people because they might hurt us. I don't want to hide. I want to live."
As she looked at him studying himself in the mirror, a wave of realization came over her, so sweeping and frightening Nora felt like she was in a tsunami. He had changed. Not just physically, but emotionally and mentally. She really didn't know this man. She slowly turned her attention the mirror as well, seeing half the reflection of what he could, she was trying to find her husband in his shape...she only saw this calculating cold man before her. Lonely. Bitter. Angry.
"I'd like to get out of this room...I'm very cold." Nora suggested softly, her brow still furrowed, she couldn't bare to look at him again.

It was him, he wanted ot jump in her arms, but he couldn't, he didn't know fully why. "Your right." He walked over to Nora, sitting now closer, "I'm sorry Nora, for everything." He took her hand and held it ever so gently, "I never stopped loving you, and I won't stop. Not now not ever." He leaned in for a case touching her lips tasting sauce, though this time it was a firmer one, more lovingly and less cold though the cold would always be there.
"Yes, I'll get you someplace warmer." He helped her out of bed and carried her in his arms to a bed with a heater next to it. This was the room he made for her, it was warm and it was soothing, well not fully to him, though he was going to cure himself of this cold world eventually; if he could. Laying her down, Altra and Shaka came in and licked her hand, "This is Altra, the other one is Shaka. I trained them, they follow many commands, now even yours, if you so wish to have them" He sat down and looked at her, He now realized that he needed to cherish her, though that alienated feeling still felt through him. "I love you Nora" Might as well say it so that she knows for if she didn't, then she wouldn't be here.
He never thought she was work, She was always the main priority. Whatever she needed he would get. That would remain true, even now it would. Oh how he longed to be with her and talk about the things that were said "The FBI is after me, they are taking away the criminals, and to them and the public I am a criminal. Though I never killed someone. I did things to help keep you alive. I never gave up hope, you must understand Nora." The threat to Nora was even greater now, if he was taken away he would find her and be with her no matter how many agent's he had to freeze to go to her. He rubbed her hand and brushed her blonde hair.

With the whirlwind of thoughts still tossing her mind from one thing to another, she let him hold her hand. His fingers offered no warmth, but they still fit, so perfectly against hers. Nora shrugged, to conflicted to speak, tears clouding her vision. More baffling than her not knowing him now, this was so familiar. Perhaps she had been wrong about him, it must have been some kind of...post coma paranoia. Nora tried to reconcile the warring emotions.
His profession of love and kiss melted her fear. For a now, for this moment, she set aside her concerns, and returned the kiss. She should not have been so skeptical, judging him, just like those children in their school.
He grabbed her up and carried her off, the bed he settled her into felt like heaven. Soft and heated. Nora immediately let her eyes flutter close...then something touched her hand. Nora jerked away, surprised. More surprised when she realized she was staring at what looked to be two full grown polar bears. "Okay. I have a lot of catching up to do on these last three years...but I'm not even going to question the polar bears." Nora wondered when her life went through the looking glass and gently touched the back of one of them. She couldn't tell which.
With Vic sitting next to her, Nora heard him repeat his statement of love. She stopped petting the bear and looked up, before she could properly answer him, he continued talking. Nora's eyes widened and she listened intently. He was a wanted criminal. Nora did the only thing that seemed reasonable, she took it silently. With a swift motion, she wrapped her arms around his waist, laying half-over his knees. She could only hope it would all start making sense and that something normal still existed between them. "I just can't cope with all this right now. I just need to sleep." Nora said as she disentangled herself from him. " I love you. No matter what you are or become, I still love you. Don't ever doubt that."
She pulled away, then paused, regarded his cold skin, and decided it probably was for the best if she did not ask him to stay. While she was comfortable, he would probably be in pain to stay in this room too long...certainly not all night. Nora gave a small smile for his sake, slouched in the pillows and closed her eyes, refusing to take in any further bad news until tomorrow.
(OOC: Are you willing to jump ahead a week or two? I really would like to have Nora moving around on her own. =D)

"Alright. Rest, If you need anything just say so." He kissed her hand one more time and walked out of the door along with Shaka and Altra who followed closely behind. Grabbing the fresh salmon he fed both of them, throwing one piece in the air and seeing who could get it first. First, Altra, second, Shaka. First Shaka, then Altra. After he fed them he sat down on the couch and read the newspaper. Billy and Ricky were watching TV and Carl was sleeping. The FBI still badly wanted Freeze, if you doubted that then you haven't read the newspaper. He didn't want Nora knowing too much about this, he didn't want her to worry and he didn't want her to be sad.
"Billy, how long do you think it will be till the FBI get Scarecrow, Riddler, Penguin, and I" Billy stopped watching and began thinking, his eyes sparkled and he opened his laptop typing furiously, then clicking enter. "I think it'll be much later. Of all the Rogues, you're are going to be one of the hardest to capture." Freeze sad nothing, his demeanor didn't even change, he just took in what Billy had said. "Ricky, we're going to have to start fortifying this apartment soon, start setting up more cameras and defense procedures, because they will be coming." Ricky nodded and started doing push ups. Freeze stood up and started doing the dishes, one by one. Soon they were all clean. Though it was strange for him to be doing this, ah well he had made adjustments in his life to allow such tasks to be accomplished by him.

There was no clock in her room, so Nora didn't know how long she had been asleep. Sitting up, Nora stretched her arms, wincing as the muscles rebelled. Far from perfect condition, but Nora had never been one to sit around for long periods of time. Even when she was studying or reading for pleasure, she had developed the habit of pacing the room. And Nora desperately wanted to go outside. To see the sun. She had no idea what time of year it was, but that didn't matter. She wanted to feel a breeze, rain, snow and the sun on her face.
Hesitantly, checking to be sure Victor was not in the room to stop her from taking things too quickly, Nora placed a foot on the floor. Her toes hesitantly curled and uncurled, testing the ground. With both feet on the floor, Nora attempted to stand.
Her knees locked, and she toppled back into bed. Not willing to give in to this limitation, Nora tried again, this time, clinging to the headboard of the bed. She made it to her full height and stayed there a few moments.
"Okay, this is good." She smiled lightly, feeling some of her old optimism pop back into her heart. "Good. You're doing good." Muttering to herself, Nora began inching her way around the room, clinging to things with her arms. The bed, a chair, pressed against the wall now and then. It hurt, her entire body hurt, but she couldn't stop smiling.
Leaning heavily on the wall, Nora made her way to the door, and grasped the handle, pulling it open. Gripping the door knob tightly, she took in a breath of the cold air and peeked out. Men she didn't know were milling around. One of them looked like just a kid. Who were these people? Shifting slightly, Nora tipped towards the door frame and held to the wood, using her arms to support herself as much as possible. "Hello. I'm... I'm Nora. Who are you?" She offered a big smile and hoped these men were Victor's friends. Last thing she needed was to go and get herself into trouble.

Billy and Carl were inside setting up the extra security that Freeze wanted installed, though they weren't happy because it took some time to install them. "Hi, I'm Billy" Billy stetched out his hand, his brown curly hair covered by some sort of hipster clothing, his laptop on the chair and Carl stopped working, "Hello Mrs. Fries I'm Ricky, muscle support and trained ranger". Billy put down the screwdriver and sat up straight sitting in the chair once again, though not reaching for his laptop.
"Anything we can do to help. Our boss.. I mean your husband isn't in the apartment right now, he went with Carl to pick up some things that would help him in the construction of the tools he needs." Billy was probably the best Hacker on the east coast, he was also a programmer and computer genius. It was always good to have him around, not to mention he did it because he really didn't have any other family or friends to stick around with. And he was getting paid. Though he liked being around Freeze, uncommon right?
Carl on the other hand was an Army Ranger who became a mercenary and specializes in tracking, firepower, and tactics. His friend Ricky was a US Air force soldier, he can fly anything with precision. Carl took out his gun and started cleaning it, slowly and carefully, then putting it away since he wouldn't want to scare the woman. He got up and grabbed a suitcase with a sniper rifle in it and closed the door, "I'm going down to the shooting range the level down, just shout my name or call and I'll be up.
" Billy nodded and turned back to Nora, "Boss doesn't tell us much about you, only that you were sick once." "Refreshments?" He grabbed some tea that Ricky made and gave it to Nora.
