"Thinking beyond the normal, to be honest, is an asset here in Gotham. We don't have your average criminal here. We have people like Two Face, Penguin, Joker, and Scarecrow...not to mention the rest of them. Mr. Freeze, Black Mask..." She shook her head. "You certainly have your work cut out for you. Do you think you're up to that challenge?"

Lisa again had stopped paying attention, her stomach growled but quiet enough for only her to hear it. She mumbled, "Guess those blueberry muffins didn't help you". Normal people talk to their stomachs right?. What a dumb thing to ask, she wasn't in the third grade where you draw smiley faces on your forehead. Yet while she wasn't paying attention her demeanor was, guess Lawyers and gifted people gave that look of always paying attention, "Yes, I do have alot of work, I intend to clean up the streets of Gotham in a few weeks, Gotham got a new laundry detergint and I'm the one with resolve power." Again, her brain was laughing at her, comedy was good, but Lisa power would sound cheesey as if she was getting paid for the damn thing; she wasn't. " I have always been up for challenges ever since I got top of the class in Law school. Gotham is like any other City, different criminals and safe strategies that don't work. Corruption has become a top priority by the D.A. office along with Commissioner Gordon. I'll take the challenge and rip it to shreds when I'm done with it." Now that was the Lisa Novak that won cases and intimidated even the toughest of criminals, no wonder she had high conviction rates.
But she also admired people like Rebecca who did what they needed to do to find the truth. Lisa convicted criminals and found the truth, Rebecca got the points of view then found the truth. She could tell that Rebecca was a bright young woman who would be key to this city. She also wasn't like some of the reporters who badger Lisa to get a media report about a case after a trial session. Lisa smiled at the woman, who had become another one of Lisa's rising heroes.

Rebecca smiled, "No worries, I'll let you out of this soon to get some better food. Could even offer tips if you're eating out. I often have to," she said, gesturing around her. "So much work, little time to have a home cooked meal. I also liked your laundry joke, by the way." She chuckled lightly. "No one listens to these, but me anyway."
She waved her hand and took a breath, "But now I'll go back to being serious again. Yes, you did graduate at the top of your class in Law school and you're right about the corruption. So you plan to combat that. That is also a challenge, but I believe when sets their minds to achieving something, it can be done, especially one with your recommendations, Ms. Novak."

"I'm glad I came to this city at the current time, thank you for taking some time out of your busy and probable hectic day to interview me." Lisa was sure that the interview was over, but this was a way for a relationship to get started. An ADA needed more friends than a seasoned police commisioner and four detectives. "Rebecca, if you have any problems legally, financially, or want a check or need help. Call that number. But I don't think I have your number in case I need your help in looking at something or going out to lunch."
Lisa meant the things she said, most of them anyway. If she didn't mean it then she would be corrected or wouldn't say it. The interview was going to be read my millions of citizens, cops, lawyers, criminals. This one interview would probably open up the death threat window. Lisa was used to them, though recently only one in seven people threatened her. A number that dropped significantly when she did White Collar Crimes in Brooklyn. After White collar crimes she went to Manhatten and was the Senior ADA for the sex crimes unit. With people as "mad" as the Joker in a city, the events are eradic and surely devastating.

"Then I must remedy that," she smiled and plucked a card from a holder by her computer monitor. She handed it to the woman. "My work number is actually a separate cell phone I use for my reporting, so you can call it anytime day or night if you ever need any assistance or would like to go to lunch. Feel free to contact me and I'll keep this card safe." She meant that. Not only was it valuable to have the backing of a woman like this for any legal matters, she seemed stalwart and so she had Rebecca respect.
She stood up and held out her hand, "Thanks again for agreeing to the interview. I hope the rest of your day isn't as crazy as the first part."

"Thanks so much" Lisa took the card and put it in one of her pockets. Her hair now laying in the back waiting to head back to her office, with noisy phones and bad coffee, yet she could always use coffee; always. "Expect a call from me soon about lunch". Lisa then remembered that she had two pieces of paper that may give Rebecca more insight about the plot with the FBI. She unzipped her briefcase and took the file. "This is for you, it should help with the FBI plot, I know it helped me. Don't publish them, we don't want the Feds putting you in jail for something minor." She handed Rebecca the file that was old and information was still valuable, but Lisa had a back up and had memorized it anyway. "Take care, Rebecca don't get hurt soon, Gotham needs you." She turned her body grabbed her suitcase and walked out, she was wearing an outfit she often wore, noting to herself that she needed new shoes and some groceries.
As she walked out her annpoying heels clicked the carpet outside, the other man waiting in the seat that Lisa was in, she didn't smile because she didn't have time. Her phone rang and she answered, it was one of the detectives a murder had just occured at 57 street and Cross. "I'm on my way" said Lisa who was now walking at a faster pace, entering the elevator and ending the call. Two murders in one day, odd but it has happened. The doors closed and the experience was gratifying for Lisa and it seemed likewise for Rebecca too.
