Harvey smiled and chuckled at her little joke. He appreciated her quips, she always said them at just the right time and they were always on point and gave him a good laugh.
Harvey looked at her hand, pulling it to him, the ring glinting in the slightly dim lights of his apartment. He noticed it was on the right hand and not the left. He was smart enough to know it was European tradition to wear an engagement ring on the right hand and not the left, wearing it on the left was an American thing.
"It suits you well, Selina."
He wasn't sure what she meant by putting it on that hand, but he wasn't going to make any assumptions, he was going to enjoy the night as they had planned.
"I do have one other thing to say, too. If you ever chose someone else over me, baby, you best let me make sure he isn't some jack ass. Deal?"
Harvey kept the smile on his face, but his tone suggested that he meant that, too.
"Either way, I'm happy as long as you're happy, baby."
Harvey reached up and ran his hand through her hair a bit. It was so soft and it always seemed to have a life of its own. Every bit of her was like that, well at least every bit he'd ever seen.

Pursing her lips, she didn't know what to say to that, so instead she just nodded, watching him. She hadn't wanted to loose the ring, and didn't want to put it on her left hand, either...but he knew she'd spent time across the pond.
Blinking away the sudden allergies, she chewed on her lower lip for a second or two. "I don't think anyone could ever replace you. You know that. And he'll have to talk to you, you boys can go play pool, or something." Nodding dutifully, she made sure to honor what he said.
"The same, you know. I just...I'm really surprised some dame hasn't snapped you up, yet. You work too much, and I work too much." She offered, well, because it was true. And if she could only bring herself to bring up the truth with him, perhaps things would be different.
In their shifting on the couch, her braiad had come unplaited, and her hair was now half-undone on her shoulders as he ran his fingers through it. "Me too, you know that, Theo. Always."

Harvey smiled and laughed lightly as her tussled hair.
"Hmm, sorry 'bout that. Didn't mean to get you all hot and bothered."
The man could not help but crack a dumb joke. He loved doing it. One thing that many people never understood about the good detective was that he really loved to be amused. It was just part of his nature. He truly endeared the feeling of amusement, yet it was a feeling he rarely got from anyone but himself.
That was the right woman for him. One that could keep him amused.
"So, the night is young, baby. What do you want to get up to, hmm?"
Harvey was not bored, but he did want to lighten the mood back up, anywho.

Selina chuckled this time, cozy where they were. Shaking her head, she was used to the ice breaking jokes, the real ones, and the ones used to swap the mood that he would utilize. Shaking her head slightly, she shrugged, her eyes closing for a minute. Could she do a life like this? One with comfort, laughter, and support? Yes, yes she could. But would he be able to deal with her little added burst of life?
Who knew.
As her eyes opened, peering at the man beside her, she winked at him. "Coffee, and dessert to start, and maybe then you'll let me look at all the new vinyl you have." Which would take her weeks to comb through, but he knew the overture of their old, intimate jokes. He always did.

Harvey smirked and leaned over, kissing her temple before getting up.
"How do you take your coffee these days anyway."
His kitchen was simple and there was a bar top to it allowing him to talk to her and see her while he started getting his coffee going. He'd recently discovered the amazing awesomeness that was the french press and chose to make them up some coffee in that style.
Harvey usually took his coffee black. It was easy, instant, and simple. There was never many occasions he had it any other way. The only times he added cream or sugar was when he was also putting alcohol in it. Harvey shot his glance over to the Jameson. Italian desserts and Irish coffee, sounded like a win to him.
"Yeah, actually I started doing things a little different. Any vinyl bought within the last year will be in that wall of shelves over there."
Harvey pointed around the corner.
"The one of the right closest to my bedroom door."

She closed her eyes in bliss as he reaffirmed everything was ok beween them. "Same as I always have; hot and with cream!" She teased, pulling him into an embrace before he got up. Tugging a blanket down from the couch, she cocooned herself within it and watched as he moved around the kitchen.
"Really? Now that isn't fun like it used to be." But it was a novel idea, and as she tossed back the blanket, she was up and going to inspect this new area of limitless music.

"Yeah, I been tryin' to be better about listenin' plenty to newer stuff. I've had to replace some old stuff, too, thanks to playin' some of 'em too much, so yeah."
Harvey was at work with the coffee. While the water was getting hot he went to get the tiramisu out of its box and put it on a smaller plate. Within a few minutes he had two coffees, both with a little cream.
"You want some Irish with your coffee?" he asked as he got the bottle of Jameson and poured some of it into his own coffee. He also took the time to clear away their empty plates of food and throw them in the hot soapy water currently in the sink.

She did love music. So as the kettle boiled and he informed her about new stuff, she responded in mild 'Mhm's' until she happened upon one record she couldn't believe he had. "Theo. You're kidding me. When did you get this?!" She exclaimed, going to sit on the couch, the record held in her fingertips as if she'd come across some fine treasure.
"You've been holding out on me, with this, for how long?!" She exclaimed breathlessly, fingers brushing her hair off her face as she poured over the slipcover. Nodding to his addition of adult beverage to their coffee, she was still distracted. "Put it on? Please? And oh shit, I should have helped you do that. I'm sorry." She rambled, realizing she had been a poor guest as she had failed to bring in their empty dishes.

"NO! You shall never make coffee for me, woman!"
Harvey snatched the record from her. The other one was down and out anyway at this point. He switched them out and set the new on on the turn table and delicately placed the needle.
"There. When you're in my house, I do all the work, when I'm in yours I still do all the work, ha!"
Harvey motioned to her coffee, picking up the bottle of the Jameson again.
"Jameson in that coffee or no...?"
He smiled to her as the music on the record began to seep through and into the speakers.
"Hmmm, why wouldn't I have it? I always try to keep a copy of that one fresh. Took you long enough to find it, y'know."

Sticking out her tongue defiantly, she relinquished the album to him. "Well, I'm going to trust you to hold me to the same rules when we're at my house!" She threatened.
"Yes, please." She finally intonated for him, rolling her eyes as he didn't quite understand her non-verbal nod earlier. Falling back into the couch in one motion, she sighed, enamored. "Whatever. You just tease me and like to bring up that I keep wearing them out because once I do find it, that's all I want you to play," she sighed again, as everything was right in the world as Solsbury Hill, sung by the wonderously, famously talented Peter Gabriel filled his home.

Harvey laughed again and grabbed their coffees. He handed her hers after pouring the Jameson. He curled his arm around her again and leaned his head on the couch, staring straight up at a JOB rolling papers poster on his ceiling right above the couch. "You know, I bet that joint is still in the box." Harvey sighed at the record and pulled her in again. "Man, we used to paint the town red listening to this record, too." Any time they went out in the past Selina seemed to have a knack for finding songs off the record on jukeboxes and what not. She loved this damn album. Little did she know he actually had four other spares of it. He knew her, she would either swipe it or play it until it bled.

Fingers cradled the hot coffee with a contented sigh as she curled into him, Peter Gabriel crooning them into the past.
"Mmm." Was all she offered as she sipped her alcohol laced drink. "Paint the town alcoholic, you mean. Or red. Either works for me." She was smiling, thinking on how she did have a knack for finding Peter Gabriel anything on the jukeboxes. She had the same attraction to them that others did those claw machine jobies.
"Did you get a player that finally has a 'repeat' button?" She was teasing him, but she honestly hated when he'd have to get up, or she would to reset the needle. She honestly hated relinquishing how they'd tuck in together. Looking up at him, her eyes followed his, going to the poster as well. While his taste in decor wasn't the same as hers, he still had a certain flair she appreciated that set her at ease.

"No repeats here. I'm a little surprised you didn't dig for Marvin Gaye, but then again, Peter always win you over, doesn't he."
It was not a question, but a statement. Harvey was known to sing Motown songs when he was liquored and happy, especially Marvin Gaye.
"Man, we were loud and proud, weren't we? Now look at us, all grown up listening to Peter Gabriel records, having coffee and-"
Harvey grabbed the plate of tiramisu and waved it temptingly before her face.
"Tiramisu. You sure turned my day into a much better evening, baby."
He kissed her hair just as he did at the beginning of the evening.
"Mmmm, thank you."

"Yes. Even though he is a close second." And that was after classical music. But that was a whole different ballgame, and she was rather content where she was. "More than loud and proud. We were troublemakers. Still are, if I recall. And hey!" She sat up slightly, narrowing her eyes. "Listening to good music, with good food, good drink, and good company is nothing to complain about!" She chided him, her eyes going wide at the forgotten dessert.
Not shockingly he'd plated it on one dish, with one fork. Tucking back in beside him, she nodded. "I was working, then slept most of it. I was pretty fuzzy walking through the park. But...yes, I agree. It's turned into a much better day, and new day, at that." She didn't have to glance at a clock to know that it was a quarter to half past midnight. Years upon years of experience had been ingrained in her being. She just knew.
Turning she pressed her lips into his jawline, a place that she favored more than his cheek. "Thank you, too, Theo. Now are you going to just tease me with that, or are you going to eat it?" Dipping her finger straight into it, she popped it back into her mouth, just in case he decided to.
