Jeremiah and his wife were so caught in viewing the scenery and really in each other—it’d been a while since they’d had a night to themselves—that though they had begun migrating it took them a little while to navigate to their table. Every sight or person they passed was given comment, or Jeremiah would whisper something to her.
When they did make it, Jeremiah took in the people at the table. “Sorry we’re running late.” He pulled out a chair for Melina. She took it and smiled at the people gathered. “I just couldn’t not explore the scenery. Ms. Kyle and Mr. Luthor really did excellent did they not?”
Jeremiah took his seat and took Melina’s hand beneath the table.

Jim hadn’t seen his daughter since the beginning of the gala and to be honest, he was a bit worried as he followed along with the crowd as everyone made their way to their tables, but when she saw her sitting at the table with one of his officers as well as Selina’s ward, he felt a sense of relief, if only a little. She looked a little strange and dazed. He tried to press that down and took his seat. He nodded to Diana. “Good to see you again,” he offered her. “I hope you have been enjoying Gotham so far.”
Then he gave his greeting to Mr. and Mrs. Arkham. He honestly didn’t have that great of a respect for the Asylum owner, but he could be cordial and his wife was always a treat. He nodded to her. “I had a hard time taking my attention away from all the decorations and acrobats myself. I’m glad to hear you’re both enjoying this as well. I was quite impressed.”

Post by Zahira Ormarr - Black Serpent on May 14, 2014 23:35:28 GMT -5
Was Zahira feeling ignored? Zahira played now as Rowdy was turning his attention. His body? Was this really necessary? His arm motioned behind her chair, causing Zahira to sit forward a little more. The near presence was certainly enough to cause a few hairs to raise. Just enough she wasn't entirely sure she was comfortable and partially wishing she was ignored. Suppose you really couldn't fault him for being an all or nothing type of guy, but surely there was a point. Her eyes wavered subtly as he moved her cutlery, hopefully that was going to be all he was moving. With a sip of her drink, with the subtle of unease. She was more delighted now by Rooster cutting in… She wasn't someone, Zahira knew great deal off, though from the whispers of her co-workers at the museum, she was certainly not an unknown, particularly in texas? If she wasn't mistaken. Didn't exactly reached Egypt or at least her corners, but certainly could leave Zahira intrigued and the eye patch alone barely scratched at the surface of adventures, she was almost sure on that… "It is an honour." Zahira rephrased in response and a subtle smile, in the close distance beside her…
What Zahira didn't expect? Again though, really what was she expecting? As the gentleman somewhat across from her addressed her. More pointedly that simply greeting her and spoke of the museum. He was once a visitor… What a shame he isn't now? She really couldn't say she knew his track record, she wasn't completely in the know, another reason she was here… "Oh, thank-you. That is very kind of you… I've only been there for the past 5 months, but I would imagine it has changed, we get a pretty good turn around, though of course it can be a little up and down at times, that is expected… I'm curator of the egyptian exhibition, if you are or anyone here is ever interested in the history, I'd be more than happy to offer you a tour… In fact, there is also a tour up for auction tonight!" Zahira in her subtle. Simple delighted way responded to Oswald, talking a little about the museum. Not really knowing what it was like before, for him, but knowing how often Museums changes. There were a couple exhibits that always remained, but a lot came and went. So it was always rotating. Exactly how long hers would remain in Gotham, remained a mystery at this point. Perhaps if it was popular enough it might just have an extended stay. To which Zahira certainly suggested they come along. See it for themselves. Anyone interested of course. With just that little light behind her eyes, that she truthfully loved her job, regardless if it was a cover at all. It really wasn't that simple. Never was… Before mentioning of course as she recalled the museum threw in a tour for the auction. For the charity, thus Zahira wasn't in the auction herself. She was mostly a representative.
Turning back to Rooster. Quite delighted by her accent. It was quite something to hear all the different american accents. Zahira had almost little idea before… Joke? Um. Did she? Zahira could try and use one of her fathers, but it might be safer not too. Besides what she found funny, just might not be… "No, I don't think i do, sorry. I love to hear yours… Also, I would certainly love to hear about your adventures? I'm afraid I've only heard a faint amount… Was it in Texas?" Zahira apologised, maybe after a couple of jokes, she may try to slip one in, but she honestly couldn't say she had ever shared jokes, anymore than she had shared a table like this. Certainly intrigued to hear Rooster's. She seemed open yet, would take the cow by the horns and probably almost literally. This led to Zahira quite intrigued. The different personality. The different culture. Hell, America was mostly a change to Zahira… Asked if Rooter was down, if may grace them if not Zahira with a story. From some of people said in the museum, she was somewhat of a legend. That was kinda cool!

Nathaniel stood inside in the men's room straightening his collar and inspecting the skin of his throat as he flattened it back down. He couldn't see any signs of skin breakage or bruising, but he'd not be surprised if he woke up tomorrow with a few. He grinned into the mirror and ran a hand through his hair to flatten it from where Iris had been massaging her fingers. His lips were definitely well-kissed, but he could live with that. What he couldn't do was walk to the table looking absolutely debauched.
He dabbed the lipstick from his mouth and ran his fingers down the button's of his shirt, making sure it was once again tucked in before he grabbed his jacket and exited the bathroom. He smirked at Iris. "You're a horrible influence," he leaned down to steal another long kiss from her, "or...is that me?" He whispered against the shell of her ear.
They had taken to finding a quiet alcove in the Gala, intent on people watching, which they did. They did between soft kisses, long kisses, and absolutely debauched ones. They were running just a bit late to their table, but nothing much had happened and Nathaniel was surprised to see a familiar face there.
"Roy!"

Bruce stood at the bathroom sink, splashing his face with some water before looking up into the mirror. These galas were usually so easy. Come with a beautiful woman, wine and dine them, smile the whole time, and then go back to their place, bed them, and leave. It was the same basic plan he'd had for every gala ever since he'd started donning the symbol.
But tonight was proving to be difficult.
It wasn't the beautiful woman he had as a date. That was Diana, and she truly was an amazingly beautiful woman. Every inch the Princess she carried herself as. To be seen on her arm would be an outstanding achievement. And probably front page of The Gotham Times, if Vicki would stop baring the grudge. And it wasn't even any of the other guests here at the gala. He could tell Nigma was upto something, but he was watching that from a distance. That young Harper boy seemed to be causing mischief, though he may have just been overly enthusiastic in his attempts to confront Nigma. Bullock being surrounded by women made him want to cry, were there no women left with any taste? But that wasn't causing him any real distress.
No, the thing that bothered him was Selina. Or more specifically the way Selina seemed so casual with the way Lex was touching her.
Luthor was being so smarmy about it too. He'd been watching Lex all night, and Luthor almost seemed to be looking for excuses to touch Selina. And nearly every time he did, he flashed a grin Bruce's way, as if knowing what Bruce would be feeling. Bruce was finding himself with a strong desire to punch Luthor in the face. How had Superman never done that yet? Grabbing some paper towels, Wayne wiped off his face, and then checked his collar and tie in the mirror. Taking a deep breath, Wayne turned and walked out of the bathroom, only to find that it was nearly empty. Hearing the announcement about the migration to their tables, Wayne grinned and then headed towards the Earth Area. Stepping through the main doors, Bruce paused for a moment, just looking around as he stood dead center in the entry way. He was getting a few looks and smiled, raising his hands in mock apology.
"My bad. They said you can drown inside a toilet here. I had to check it out for myself. Thankfully, on top of everything else Lex has provided, he's thought ahead to have a steam dry press available."
Getting a few laughs, Bruce walks across the floor and towards his table. Sitting down beside Diana, Bruce leans over and kisses her on the cheek.
"I'm sorry for taking so long, Diana. I hope the conversation has been enthralling."
Looking around and seeing the Arkham's and Gordon looking back, Wayne winced and shook his head.
"....wow. No chance of that. What did we do to deserve the fuddy duddy table?"
Grinning instantly to show there was no malice behind the joke, Bruce nodded at Gordon with a smile.
"Jim, I always wonder when you come to Gala's like this. Are you ordered to leave your handcuffs at home? I mean, you're sitting amongst most of the biggest crooks in this city. How have you not arrested anyone yet?"
Smiling again, Bruce turned to look away just in time to see Lex slip up beside Selina, sliding his hand down her back, his eyes boring into Bruce's. Wayne fought down the snarl, just glaring at Lex for a moment before turning back to focus his attention on the table he was at.
If Selina didn't pull Lex into line soon, Luthor was going to end the night with a black eye. You could only poke The Bat for too long before it wanted to come out and play.

Dick couldn't help from hiding a smirk on his face. Kory was all over him tonight. Not all that different from any other. But this was her chance to show off in public. It wasn't often that they went to such social gatherings. And he knew she was just teasing.
The look on her face over the burn mark on his neck, Dick gave a knowing eye. Like she had to apologize. They knew there were going to be more of those to come. And by now, he was used to it.
"Nothing out of the ordinary," Dick replied to her concerning the scent of cologne.
He smiled to her as his hand moved to the small of her back as he guided her around the room toward the table they were assigned to. He recognized one of the faces at the table so far.
And from glancing around the room, it wasn't hard for him to recognize many others. He knew Bruce was there with Diana. And there were a few villains he was familiar with now a days.
At Kory's question, Dick turned to her. "It's all a matter of appearances. I can't blow my cover because of something they may have done. Of course, I'd like nothing more than to go after them. It's a point in knowing when to pick your battles," Dick replied.
A frown came to his face when he places a familiar face of Edward Nigma. Someone he greatly could not stand and did not trust. But this was Dick Grayson, it was show time for the bat-family at social evens.
"We just keep running into each other," Dick commented as he pulled a seat out to allow Kory to take a seat first, before he took a seat for himself.
His words directed toward Roy in a joking way. That was until another knew face joined them at the table.
This woman, he did not recognize so much. Maybe in passing or from a picture he had seen before.
"You're not interrupting anything," he replied. "Dick Grayson, by the way. And this is Kory Anders"
He decided it was best to introduce himself while they were at it.

Post by Kory Anders - Starfire on May 16, 2014 4:57:08 GMT -5
It was only the beginning of the night, there was going to be a lot more in store. Tons of teasing. Ok, maybe not an over load. There was going to be some level of pay off. As Starfire's gold hand could almost take to twirling around his tie. Catching his smirk, so not hiding. Even if he tried, it was almost impossible at this point, right? Feeling the fluttering in her chest, causing the natural rise. Brushing his lips, touching at the tips. Pulling away with the subtle glee in her green exposed eyes. Delighted to be herself. He was himself. They were themselves together. No masks. Hardly to no hiding. 'thank-you' Kory had lightly expressed as she was handed her glasses. Offering a gentle, sweet smile, her cheeks glowed golden orange. Expressed an extra tinge at Dick's extra attention. His eyes, almost. He was capable of making the tamaranean just that little bit nerved. Weakening in her knees. No doubt, there would be reason for more burns. More sparks… More skin hopefully, as Kory hardly even got a peak and he had been at work all day. Now was the time for a little unwinding.
"Ordinary or not… I like it… It reminds me of something homely… Is that so crazy?"
Kory responded to Dick, same old, same old. She thought teasingly. It was hardly that old, but sure she was quite. Quite familiar it. Him and just how well he smelled. Taking the action to walk to the other room. In search for their table and his hand at her waist. If there even been a remote thought of wanting to be somewhere else, totally just slipped out the window, for now… As soon as they entered the earthly beautiful breathtaking room. Filled with chairs. Tables. The most striking of all, the familiar faces. Here and there, many were mystery to Starfire in this city, but she'd was more than happy to meet them. Make friends…. Soon taking the seat at their table, with the simple. Subtle smiled to Dick. Before eyes mildly escaped about the room. Kory kindly taking hers as Dick pulled it out for her, like he generally always did. He could be so sweet sometimes. This was beautiful and a little crazy. Looking over with interested eyes. Kind eyes. As Dick responded. Always curious to hear his insight. Having dinner with a criminal, it just kinda put an odd feeling in her gut, but she was more relieved, knowing Dick wasn't as concerned. Nor Bruce for that matter. Kory smiled at what Dick said what he would like to do, it made her laugh a little. More so it made her feel not so alone.
"No, of course. We wouldn't want you blowing up. You might put me to shame, but I understand now, Dick… If you do go over there, showing your badge… Just restrain from taking your shirt off, thats for my attention… Gets me every time too."
Of course it always came down to identity over a lot of things. Whilst Starfire accepted that and in most cases could begin to understand that. Though she still was one to totally weigh that over doing the right thing, but she would never look to over step a friend. Nor betray them. Kory amusingly teased him popping out, would outshine Starfire. Playfully smiled at Dick, naturally she was always up to teaming up. She would literally follow him anywhere… Sincerely expressed she understood what he meant… Before Kory playfully responded if Dick was to go over there, as he were. As his cop self, mostly likely it would work. One thing Kory learnt, in his most ordinary ways, he can still be incredibly crafty. She was still trying to figure out exactly where one of her lamp shades got too and collecting random bobby pins around her apartment. Hopefully he knew she was totally being playful, of course with the generous amount of truth. The many times, him bare chested and badge in hand or hers depending just who needed to be arrested. This was defiantly a job she was throughly enjoying. Raising her eye brows playfully at him, hopefully watch him smile.
"You are always around when we least expect it…"
"… You mean, when you least want me around. Don't lie, I know how it is Princess. No need to rub it in…"
"Now, I wasn't going to say that…!"
Kory responded to Roy trying to act passively, with the generous touch of sarcasm in eyes. Looking to Dick as finished her words… It could definitely be something like that, but then at the end of the day. If determined, they can certainly find a moment. Here. There and everywhere in the bunker. Whoops. She smiled innocently to Dick, there could certainly always be more of him at her place. More peace, she'd say quiet, but that was not really the case all the time… Just as Kory motioned to take at one of the ice cubes and attend to Dick with it. An unfamiliar woman came to their table. All bound in red and gorgeous. Most pointedly Kory noted the beautiful smile and she seemed to have a friendly face… Kory graciously got back to her feet to greet the woman… Smiled kindly as Dick introduced himself and began to introduce her. Though Kory not seemingly too rude, cut in...
"Starfire… Its most wonderful to meet you Joan."
Starfire kindly introduced herself. Before Dick could have fully spoken her name. Not that it was a huge biggie, but still a biggie to some. Motioning within the space to properly shake Joan's hand… Just as Starfire was making back to sit, another pair of friendly faces seemed to be coming to the table. A couple no doubt. A very very happy couple. Oh, how exciting. X'hal. Iris? Kory noted the name on the table and she had heard about a little. She really had such wonderfully eyes.
"Greetings and welcome to our table… I'm Starfire. This of course is Dick Grayson. Pleasure to meet you both… Looks like it is everyone. We should be in for very pleasant evening… Oh yes, thank-you!"
Starfire expressed openly. Kindly. Sweetly, but of course not way over top. Making some of the last couple of introductions and it seemed looking around their table was now filled. Ready for a little chit chat and most likely food. Starfire's stomach certainly tumbled a little, that shrimp she had, only got her a little started, but she'd keep it a little light. You never know when you needed to be more than light on your feet. Just as Starfire motioned to regain her seating, it appeared the passing of dinner rolls had begun and the smell of warm bread was certainly most welcoming with the high chance of new friends.

Though Iris had every intention of mingling properly with the other guests, instead she'd found that there'd been far too much going on to want to concentrate on talking to one or two people at a time - one could better appreciate the spectacle by standing back and being more of an observer than getting lost in it. But then, being very nearly alone with Nathaniel while he's dressed so perfectly...
Needless to say, when people started gathering for dinner she was in dire need of a quick trip to the ladies room to put herself fully back in order. Just long enough to restore her hair to a style that looks completely intentional, and to refresh her makeup a little - fortunately, she'd had the foresight to fill her purse with just the right things to do so. When she's confident that her hasty efforts have restored her appearance to the one she came in with, she meets Nathaniel outside the bathroom. Of course she can't resist kissing him again, and she laughs at his words. "Me? You're the one who started it, sir!" she quietly protests as she makes sure his collar is perfect, even though she doesn't actually remember who it began with or if it was one of those unspoken mutual decisions.
In any event, at least they don't seem to have been too late to their table, even if she can see that most of the other guests are already seated. At least that makes it less difficult for them to find their assigned seats with so few of them left. Though she can't say that she's especially pleased when she sees that she's to be seated at the same table as her supervisor - she may very nearly have all her required hours and will be able to say goodbye to that aspect of her relationship with the woman in a matter of weeks, but she still has to force herself into a smile to encourage herself into not letting that spoil her mood - after all, they aren't even at work right now.
Instead her attention turns to their other dinner companions, who are refreshingly people she doesn't really know. Oh, she knows of Dick Grayson, and of course the brightly colored and brightly dressed woman next to him, and... should she know the other young man? Nathaniel does, apparently! Her smile warms as she takes her seat and she turns more particularly toward Starfire as she says, "Thank you! I'm Doctor Iris Ledford, and this is my boyfriend Doctor Nathaniel Arkham." If you pay particularly close attention, she happens to particularly relish saying the words 'boyfriend' and 'doctor' - the former may not be a new thing, but that doesn't mean that she doesn't get tired of calling him that, and the latter is newer and to say that she's proud of him would be putting it mildly.

To say that Charlotte's parents are a touchy subject for her would be putting it mildly. Fortunately, the teen has the presence of mind to know that the young woman she's talking to is unaware of that, and it fact there's hardly any hesitation before she smiles and says, "My 'mommy' and 'daddy' are in prison." It's an odd sort of smile - one that is oddly too self-satisfied to match the words she said and certainly more creepy than pleasant. One that almost suggests that her parents are in prison for something extremely awful and that she didn't fall very far from that tree...
Distracted as she is by her annoyance at the blonde, Charlotte fails to notice the approach of... who was this guy again? The question that he directs at her causes her to pause for a moment, frown in a rather displeased way, and simply state, "I am not short." Not for her age, and she's certainly taller than some grown women, and with the shoes she's currently wearing? Nope, not going to accept that descriptor for herself. And if he actually wants to get a real answer from her, he's not going to use it.
At least he helpfully reminds her who the blonde bimbo is. Ugh, the mayor's daughter? No wonder it seems to be hatred at first sight. Well, she's certainly not liking her conversation prospects at this table as it's turning out - her hopes from earlier are quickly being dashed. Barbara might have been able to shield her from the others by being someone she already knows how to talk to, but not when she's been having too much champagne...
Just when she's starting to be sure that she'll be completely miserable sitting here, the last person arrives and she can't help but smile when she's greeted. "Hi..." she replies, suddenly somewhat shy for reasons she doesn't really understand - but it's clear that she appreciates the woman's presence at the table. She certainly can't say that she likes all of Selina's friends - in fact she's sure that she actually doesn't like a majority of them. But at least Elise seems to be more likeable than average - perhaps because she's more Selina-like.

Jesucristo en un palo de pogo saltar a las puertas del infierno con unos anillos en los dedos y unos cascabeles en los pies y diez mil dólares en billetes sin marcar y no secuenciales metidas en el culo...
No, Detective Renée Montoya has absolutely no idea how her new special gala dress ended up with a long, threadbare rip along the seam just under her left arm. She didn't hear a rip, she didn't snag on anything, she was hardly drunk at all (compared to how quickly Babs had gone through a series of champagne flutes. Must not judge, must not complain, be the COOL aunt, besides, it's not like you wouldn't be getting drunk too if you weren't about to be on-). But the rip was there. It was almost imperceptible at first, but once she noticed it was there, it just seemed more and more obvious with every passing second.
She only made it to thirty seconds before she dashed into the bathroom, clutching her purse to her side as if it was a lifeline.
Montoya feels so lucky that nobody here really knows her, that Miss Kyle is entirely too busy to be ducking into the bathroom nearest the door, that she herself is really good at focusing on the task at hand, because god was it humiliating, standing there by the sink in her stockings and her underwear (why did she let "panty lines" convince her to wear something so skimpy?), needle in hand, fucking up the stitchwork as she went along.
Ancient Jedi mental techniques (or something) finally kicked in midway through, and she remembered her training... Which is why, in the end, she managed to get a nice, respectable seam sewn back together, hidden delicately under the lace. And now, she strides back out of the bathroom, her balance in her heels confident and her confidence in her appearance totally unbalanced. Shoulders locked a little tighter in than they ought to be, purse clutched like a shield... She can only hope nobody notices the way that the dress hugs her curves (being generous in calling them that, of course) just a teensy bit more... She feels horrifically exposed in every way.
Everyone's sitting down. Mierda. She makes her way quickly around through the tables. Which number was she supposed to be at? Who was she sitting with? Argh!
Finally, a flash of red hair and red cheeks catches her eye, just in time for her to notice someone moving her namecard around a table. Renée's so self-conscious, she doesn't even care. She just quickly slips over to the table and plops herself into her seat, blushing nearly as much as Barbara.

After Diana said good-bye to Bivins, she waited for Bruce for about five minutes. Where was he? Wondering if he was already seated at the table, she finally entered the dining area and found her name card. To her surprise, Bruce hadn’t arrived yet.
“Hello, gentleman,” she greeted as they all stood and one of them pulled the Amazon Princess’s chair out for her. Her gaze caught Jim Gordon’s eyes. “It’s nice to see you again, Commissioner.” She was actually relieved to see at least one familiar face.
Making idle conversation, Diana kept looking around for Bruce. He had seemed preoccupied all evening, hardly spending any time with her at all. She tried not to feel slighted, but she had noticed how he had been watching Selina Kyle since they’d arrived. Would he rather be with her? Diana started feeling uncomfortable again.
Suddenly, the room exploded with laughter, catching Diana’s attention instantly. Peering over her shoulder, she saw Bruce entertaining a crowd. The very sight of him made her smile radiantly.
“I missed you,” Diana whispered in Bruce’s ear when he made his way to the table, sat down, and kissed her on the cheek. His apology came across genuine and sincere, and was heartfelt by Diana. “The conversation has been . . . lacking without you,” she confessed in another whisper. “Thank Hera you’re back with me now.” She knew Bruce would rescue her from embarrassing herself in any way.
When Bruce started up a conversation with Commissioner Gordon, Diana sighed with relief and smiled, letting Bruce take all the attention off her. Then she noticed Bruce eyeing Selina and Lex. She didn’t need the wisdom of Athena to know what Bruce was feeling in that moment. The expression on his face was worth a thousand words.
It was time for Wonder Woman to rescue Bruce Wayne.
Leaning into Bruce, Diana wrapped her arms around his bicep and kissed him softly on the cheek.
“Hey! You’re with me tonight, remember?” she asked with a hint of amusement in her voice.

Bruce felt Diana wrap her arms around his bicep and kiss him gently on the cheek, her words bringing a smile to his face. Turning back to face Diana, he grinned and placed his hand over hers with a smile.
"You are completely correct. My apologies, Princess."
Staring into Diana's eyes, Bruce finds a genuine smile coming over his face. His feelings for Selina are still confused, still young. He wasn't sure what would happen between them, but Diana was right. She was his date tonight, and he needed to focus on her. He would worry about Selina later.
"So, how are you finding Gotham so far, Diana? Meet any nice people?"
Bruce focused his attention on Diana, only taking his hand off her to grab his glass of scotch from the table, raise it to his lips, and take a sip. Keeping an eye on Diana, Bruce turned slightly to look around the table at the other guests before back at Diana.
"Has the Commissioner hit you up for a donation to the GCPD yet? The man lives in a city with a vigilante on the loose, and still finds time to hit every millionaire he meets up for a donation."

Diana hadn’t expected Bruce to kiss her on the cheek when he arrived at the table. It was a kind gesture on his part – one that stirred bittersweet memories for the Amazon Princess. Diana recalled receiving a kiss on the cheek from her mother every morning after she woke, and every evening before she went to bed on Paradise Island. It was something Diana had expected – and taken for granted – until she won the tournament that brought her to Man’s World as Wonder Woman.
For a brief moment, Diana watched Bruce studying Selina Kyle and Lex Luthor. Then she decided to distract the billionaire playboy by returning the kiss in like manner. As her lips pressed against his cheek, she felt his clenched jaw relax, and then he smiled. A second later, his beautiful eyes were staring into hers once again. Diana liked having his full attention.
Diana noticed Bruce exuded a kind of animal magnetism with his dark eyes and handsome features. He looked very comfortable being so close to her, sipping his glass of scotch.
Accepting his apology, Diana welcomed Bruce’s hand when it covered hers. “I am enjoying my stay in Gotham City,” she whispered, carrying on a private conversation with him, despite the looks and stares she was receiving from onlookers. “I’ve met several nice people since my arrival. You are one of them, Bruce.”
The others were Selina Kyle, James Gordon, Marc Dahlmaine, and Leo Bivins, but she didn’t mention their names.
Diana’s eyes widened at Bruce’s inquiry about the Commissioner and a donation to the GCPD. “No, he has not mentioned it yet,” she replied, “but I would gladly make a donation, if he asks me to. He needs all the resources he can get to protect Gotham – financial and otherwise. Believe it or not, Batman is a resource as well. I work with him in the Justice League. Although his methods are unconventional, he is quite effective in battling the criminal element, especially here in Gotham City. You might see him as a vigilante, but I see him as an ally in the war against crime. I guess it all depends on whom you ask.”
Diana leaned in closer.
“You’ve lived here all your life, Bruce. What are your thoughts on Batman?”

Meanwhile, Vicki Vale’s eye caught Bruce and Diana together in the distance. It made Vicki angry. She didn’t hate Diana. She just didn’t like her. There was a difference.
That should be me with Bruce, not her! she thought to herself with smoldering eyes. At that moment, she also thought about Ethan’s “Dear Vicki” letter waiting for her at the front desk. She wanted to burst into tears right then and there, but she kept her composure and simply bowed her head instead. She wished she didn’t feel so alone.
Suddenly, Rowdy reached over and took her hand, which made Vicki become overwhelmed with emotion. Looking up, she thanked him with her eyes. It was weird how Rowdy was like that – always there for her when she needed someone. He seemed to be able to read her mind. Sometimes it felt like he knew her better than she knew herself.
Neither one of them said a word. They just sat there quietly . . . together.

Lola Had settled back to Ozzy after she thought Rowdy was done fawning over her but just when she thought it was over she watched a glass dump over. It all happened to fast for her to react and a Lady doesn’t panic about anything, especially in a public setting. The only exception would be how she acted with those thieves, but she was alone and it was an emergency! Her eyes widened when she saw the water move toward her but the suddenly it jumped and hit Ozzy. She turned to him but before she could get to him Rowdy was all over her.
Men, she could tell when they were desperate for her, and they should be. She simply gave him her hand and turned her cheek. “Mr. Yates you do go on… She said playfully and let him take care of her nerves. But then she saw Vicki come over to Ozzy and her eyes narrowed. What did she think she was doing? She took her hand back from Rowdy and smiled sweetly at him before she turned back to Ozzy. “Are you alright? She turned his face to her and gave Vicki and sincere smile to take her seat, she’s got it. But when she spoke to her she smiled. It seemed like Vicki was just really concerned and at least that was good. “Yes…I’m fine, just a little spill and none got on me. But thank you Miss Vale, boys will be boys… She laughed it off and turned back to Oswald.
It was just in time for him to be asking Rowdy who he was exactly. It was a good question and one that she was particularly interested in. He was an attractive man but obviously if there was nothing behind it then he was just another pretty face….a poor pretty face. So yes, she wanted to know what he did. The heroism of his act to save her from water was nothing compared to the diamonds dangling on her wrist. She scooted closer to Ozzy and waited for his response.
