Why was she so easily tempted? Several shots and a multitude of cocktails swirled around in her system, causing the blonde bombshell to display a very crooked smile as she strutted in her six-inch-heels through the elaborate venue. Towering over many and with an ample amount of liquid courage, the young heiress steered clear of her dearest daddy’s path, knowing that he would be able to smell the liquor on her breath. They young blonde was surprisingly good at controlling her liquor, though everyone had their limit. Piper was fortunate – for the sake of all involved – to not have reached hers just this yet.
Piper was pleasantly surprised when security pushed past her toward another location of the gala. She smirked to herself. Let the press eat that up, she was just relieved that it hadn’t been called on her. For the most part, she was behaving herself, though she couldn’t help but push her way through the crowd in order to catch a glimpse of the drama unfolding. The whispers said one thing, but she wanted to see for herself. Once she managed to arrive on the scene, the chaos had seemed to be temporarily fixed – or at least it was no longer serving as entertaining to the blonde as she retreated back to the largest bar the venue had to offer, slipping into one of the limited spaces and tossing her long spiral curls over her shoulder, exposing more of her chest in order to instantly gain the bartenders attention. Clearly she had done this before.
The individual next to her seemed to be engaged in a drink of their own, and the Mayor’s little princess noted it’s dark color before turning back to face the bartender. He leaned across the counter slightly offering his own charming smile to the pretty blonde, but there was almost so much she could to from wrinkling her nose at him. He was going to flirt with her, but that wasn’t something Pipe was new too, even if she didn’t go that way – she would at least be able to get his attentive service when it came to constantly supplying her with drinks. All she needed to do was put up with whatever pick-up-lines and questions he had the intention of asking her.
Unsure of what exactly she wanted to order, the blonde instead flashed him a smile, “Give me a second.” Turning towards the person to her left, she waited until they were done speaking and addressed them. “Sorry- hope I am not interrupting anything….I was just wondering what you were drinking this evening. The last thing I had the bartender recommend me was waaaaay too sweet for my taste. I was wondering if you might be able to help me out.”
It wasn’t the classiest of conversations but it was certainly better than roaming around the party and blowing off her father’s friends with the fakest smile that she could manage. Perching herself at the bar seemed much more at home to the young blonde as she waited for a reply.
[I wanted to get her involved <3 She’s not interacted with many people, what better way to meet someone than at the bar someone speak to her please? I will love you lots and lots

When Selina had asked him to keep an eye on Harvey Bullock, he didn’t believe it. At their meeting after lunch he had nearly let scruff cover jaw hit the ground but recovered himself as she explained the terms of this assignment. He was allowed to attend the Metropham Gala, but he was there as her personal eyes and ears on Harvey Bullock and herself. He’d pulled jobs similar to this. But it had been a long time since he’d been among Gotham’s elite. At least in a tux and not his more comfortable night time attire. He could say he hardly recognized anyone here, but that was untrue. He hoped no one recognized him, but he was sure that a few eyes if they were laid on him would make him. Hopefully they wouldn’t make a scene, but then again, this is Gotham. His records were expunged, and Selina had double checked on that. So he had that as his defense. Who expunged it? He couldn’t say. A fresh start was a fresh start in his mind, don’t look a gift horse in his glass house.
He had arrived without fanfare, coming in through the entrance that Selina had instructed him to. He wasn’t much on recognition these days anyways. As he had entered, he was stunned by the place, however, he made sure to move into the crowd. Looking for his target and then sticking close to him from a safe distance. He avoided catching attention, and smiled politely as women seemed to be coming up to him. He was still having a hard time believing Selina’s request, but he was on board for it.
Thomas refused drinks, with a polite smile, standing there in his dapper black tux looking from the neck down like every male model in a prom tux should look. He surveyed each room His hair on the other hair was still the mess of red that curled and waved over his head. He had attempted to do something with it, but in the end, nature won out, as she always down. His scruff had been shaved down so he would at least look presentable, but he could already feel his stubble forcing its way from his skin. His green eyes were watching the scenes around him. But he was more interested in Bullock. Well, not really. He was just doing as he was asked by the pretty dark haired employer. He didn’t mind the freelance work. He didn’t mind the work, in all honesty. As Bullock moved through the crowd, so did Thomas, like a cat stalking its prey. His incredibly easy to spot prey. Sheesh, this guy. Thomas swore the man consulted with the late Bozo on his wardrobe and then decided to take it up a notch. He was being subtle in his movements, but he hoped that Bullock wouldn’t think anything of another man checking him out. He hoped. "Well, I won't have to worry about losing him in this crowd..."

It was tempting to mingle, Elise thought as she watched the crowds. It had been tempting too to know just what the commotion had been about, but she had simply let her eyes wade through the crowd, catching heresy here and there. Her manicured fingers were curled lightly over her phone as she sat, back to the bar, sipping her dark colored cocktail, a creation of her own. She seemed to be coolly scanning the crowd, but really she was accessing her cell phone network and gaining information on all the parties in attendance at the Gala that night. She knew most of them, but not all. Information after all was power, leverage was gold, and knowing how to press just the right buttons for anyone was a safety harness for her and bane for anyone she could have words with.
She placed her drink at her side when her phone vibrated against her fingers. Her clutch was hanging off a rather convenient knob on the bar to her other side. She was focused on replying to the message—one from Hale which made her amused—but she did note when a blonde sat next to her. She slipped the phone back into her clutch and again took up her drink. She smirked against the lip of her martini glass as she watched the woman play the bartender and he fell for it. He fell for it hard. She could have snorted.
Eyes had once again settled on the scene behind them. She took to mentally naming everyone she knew off the top of her head as she saw faces. Her strident blue eyes only fell away when her name was called. Her ebony hair caught the lighting as she turned her head to the woman who had taken a seat at her side. Ah, Piper Hill, her mind supplied. She turned her body to her.
“Hard to interrupt people watching. They’re rather dull actually…the only action has come from that fiasco a minute ago.” She playfully frowned. “Unfortunate that was over so quick, but nevermind about that.” She waved her free hand and then looked down to her drink. “Ah, this, oh I don’t think this this’ll be too sweet.”
She glanced over her shoulder at the bartender. “Two parts Tommy Bahama Golden Sun Rum, then add one part of your premium orange liquer and a part expresso. Next you need half a part simple syrup and just a pinch of nutmeg,” she rattled off easily. “Shake that with ice, Strain into a martini glass and sprinkle cocoa powder to garnish” She instructed and then looked back to Piper. “I call it the After Dark. I think you’ll enjoy it.” Elise held out her hand. “Elise Noble, it’s a pleasure Ms. Hill, or do you prefer Piper?”

Piper would choose the exotic brunette with large almond-shaped eyes to place herself next too. While the vain blonde had a particular taste when it came to women, she did seem to stray toward those whose looks almost rivaled her own. Seeing as she did not seem to engaged in any conversation, the young heiress dubbed her as the perfect target for conversation. With a white smile as the woman turned to face her, she was a little surprised when she seemed to be aware of her name. It caused the Mayor’s daughter to worry a bit, hoping she only knew her for the surname she was blessed with rather than the trail of misdeeds that followed her like shadows.
“Oh thank god it’s not just me. The entertainment and the venue are absolutely amazing – but I feel as though most the people here are twice my age. I mean- I guess that make since seeing as they are typically the ones with the money.” She shrugged, at least as much as her dress would allow her without spilling out of the top of it. “I guess I am just more accustomed to clubs. I try to avoid these kinds of things.” She said honestly, though as the town’s prize family she seemed to attend quite a few of them. It wasn’t as horrible when her mother was alive, but things seemed to be much simpler then. They would spend the evening bonding and getting ready together and now the young blonde was forced to get ready alone.
Piper couldn’t help but hide the smile as the woman ordered for her, biting her lower lip at how delightful the drink sounded. “I’ve always thought that ‘sweet’ was overrated.” The bartender lingered for a moment in the presence of the two women, as if he hadn’t heard her speak all. “Well?” The blonde insinuated, a bit of an edge to her voice as he suddenly snapped out of whatever trance he was in and hurried to prepare the drink. Shaking her head and unable to resist a signature roll of her bright blue eyes, she then turned to Elise while stifling a laugh. “It’s a pleasure to meet you.” She began charmingly, “Piper is just fine, and thank you for saving my evening.”

Harvey smiled to Charlotte and sighed offering his arm.
"You know how to do a foxtrot before all the dancin' starts? I can teach ya how, it's easy. My ma taught me when I was, eh, a little younger than you."
________________
Eventually, later, Harvey was swarmed by those three ladies once again and strutting about with them, keeping an eye toward Selina when he could gain her in his sights. He could look at her all night, but there was socializing he apparently had to do.
He finally ran into Renee. He looked to the ladies and then to Renee.
"Look at me and how popular I am."

As she was met by security, they politely greeted her and allowed her late admittance. She hadn't meant to be late, but considering there had been issues to handle in Metropolis, she'd had to charter a private flight. And ready herself for this event. A pity she had to rush. Still, the dress was perfect. A simple black gown, classic. All she needed for this. Or wanted, really. A bit of gloss, a bit of mascara, a smile. It all complimented her tanned complexion, her almond eyes, her Arabic ancestry. Opera gloves. It was black tie, she'd read. Or heard. Whichever. One could never really overdress for this sort of thing. Taking the offered champagne, she took one sip, and remembered a similar taste. Acrid air, the sweetness of ripe fruit. That was another time. Weaving her way here and there, she made polite conversation from time to time with a face she may have recognized or vice versa. It was after a while she came upon the host and hostess of the evening, acknowledging both with a simple incline of her head. Her hand was extended to Miss Kyle. "Talia Head. I am currently keeping tabs on Mr. Luthor's holdings while he is taking holiday here in your lovely Gothic city, Ms. Kyle. Please excuse me while I thieve your co-chair of this event for the briefest moment." Peeling her glove from sun-kissed skin, she would offer it to the man, a certain unnamed emotion toying at her expression. Her back turned on the stunning woman in green as she commanded Luthor's attention. "Lovely venue. I can see you've done your standard, Alexander," she'd tease, the sultry accent bleeding into her words as she spoke among themselves. "You've done well here, and no doubt will continue onward." Depositing her champagne flute to a passing waiter, she met the man's eyes for a second longer than one could note. "I will acknowledge that you did outdo yourself on your, shall we call it, entertainment?" A robust laugh is given as she notes several of the acrobats executing familiar charades. "I will have to hold you to such a favor at a later time." Kissing each of his cheeks warmly, she slips her glove back on. "I apologize, but Father was indisposed." Her eyes flick to Selina, and then scan the crowd for another dark haired man. "But he sends his wishes, and I entrust you will have fun at your little party, Hariq."

Security had responded as planned, Lex following up as needed. She'd have to speak with Eddie later, but with how the time was moving, they would be needed to shift to dinner, next. Most of the socializing could be continued after the next few events, in case there were people that still wanted to talk, laugh, and carry on.
As she met Lex once more, she was politely detracted from speaking with him by an exotic woman. Dark hair, tanned skin, and those eyes. Admiringly she took in the clearly vintage gown as the woman introduced herself. "My pleasure, Talia. And thank you for doing so while Lex is staying in Gotham. I'll have to visit Metropolis in return, for all the work he has done here with us." Shaking hands she noted the cool, unmarred skin of the woman. Her economy of movement.
There had to be a reason for the in abscentia chair head to speak with Luthor, or perhaps it was just a polite show of face. Either way, she busied herself with watching the intermingling, a smile to her face as Harvey spoke with Charlotte, then was again surrounded by three lovely women, a rather sly tail following him. She could tell by the coppery mass of curls who it was. Good job, sir. She thought, making sure to stop by and greet Thomas.
Turning back to Lex as he re-approached her, she smiled at the offered arm. "Ready, Mr. Luthor?" She teased, knowing just how much fun their little song and dance number was going to be. "Shall we prepare the masses?"

He had a strange look on his face when Talia approached, amused, wistful, thoughtful? They had history, that much was clear. " Theatricality is a powerful tool to the uninitiated, Talia. I'm glad you could make it to our little show. I hope I didn't leave any details unconsidered." He straightens his tie, shifting the lapels of the vest and shaking it slightly until it turns from green to purple. "After all, I would hate to have my name associated with anything that wasn't perfect." He stared into her eyes for a moment saying to Selina " Ms. Head is one of the more indispensable individuals in my life. She's on my board, and she has a pertinent eye for detail, and a taste for subtlety that I find myself incapable of matching." He looked at the acrobats overhead and smiled faintly " They're quite the troupe, though. I felt you'd enjoy their appearance here." He speaks in a somewhat strained voice " I'm certain your father is not too far away." He watches one of the acrobats flip impossibly through the air, catching a hanging cord, kicking off the wall impossibly to flip sideways to kick off of another wall and then catch the fabric with one hand, wrap a foot around it and then free his hands to start to juggle knives. " Indeed, I can feel him with us in spirit." He seems distracted as he states that, then shakes his head as he looks at Talia. " I believe that progress is being made tonight." He smiles to her, then kisses both cheeks. A continental thing. " Do make yourself at home, though. I didn't put you in a seating chart, I felt it would be presumptuous." he smiles at her, then looks to Selina. "I suppose we'd best move onto phase 2 of the plan." He brings his watch up, moves his fingers over hit, then speaks " Status: Progress Phase Transition." The holograms start to change, subtly at first as the music winds down to the end of the songs, drinks are served and the bartenders start telling guests that drinks will be served at the tables, individuals in the crowd are starting to move towards the Earth section where dinner would be served taking their groups with them. A subtle transition that suggested that dinner would be served and the next stage of the Gala was beginning. A quiet and calming bell, Tibetan, meditative. It repeated three times. A calm and almost hypnotic voice " Ladies and Gentlemen. Seating arrangements have been made and dinner is being prepared. Please find your seats, and thank you for coming. After dinner, the moment you've been waiting for. Metropham. And then the Charity Auction." On the walls, in the ceiling, the information booths, the Metropham logo appeared. Lights on the floor flashed and guided guests to the Earth room, where even now a jazzy background soundtrack was playing, even as the other music died down everywhere else. Lex Luthor smiled as he straightened his tie, offered his arm to Selina Kyle and then started the long and almost ritualized walk into the bowels of the Earth. Phase II: Brave New World: Presentation
