Harvey bellowed with laughter.
"Oh my god, you shoulda seen yer face, you were so mad."
Harvey didn't do it to show off, he did it solely to irritate her. Once he let her down he gave her those wiggling eyebrow and the natural reflex to offer his arm came through, like always.
"I know you coulda, but I wasn't gonna let you. Royalty don't walk on nothin' but fine rugs, baby, ha!"
As far as Harvey was concerned, this one was the queen of the world. He put his other hand over her hand that was latched on his arm, keeping it warm, sacrificing the warmth of his own hand. Such a chivalrous guy Harvey Bullock was.

She paused, not seeing the humor. Stopping in her tracks, she looked down, then back into his face, deadpanning her next words. "Then where are my damn rugs, your Majesty?" Rolling her eyes, she snickered at him. It had been funny, and she should've known he was going to lay claim to her to ward off any other assholes, and embarrass her. It's what he did, and she fell into his trap each and every damn time.
But he always made up for it.
"What're you thinking of ordering?"

"Ah, let me go shave it off my ass."
Harvey snickered, bracing himself for the inevitable punches to his side. He kept laughing and nearly had to stop to catch his breath. He loved making her mad. It was so much fun to see her react to it. If she hadn't figured out he loved getting the rise out of her then she wasn't as smart as he thought she was. He had no doubts in her.
"Probably chicken and waffles."
Harvey did love him some drunk boy food.

It was fingers this time, with manicured nails into his side. No punches. But his laughter was infectious, and soon, she too was gasping for breath as they both chuckled their way to their food destination. He loved to poke fun at her. Tease. Rile her up. Whatever way you wanted to call it, he knew just how to trap her. She chalked it up to trust. No one else she trusted this well in her life.
Rolling her eyes, she shook her head at his choice of food. "Shocking!" She mocked, her arm going again to link in his.

They turned at the end of the block and when half way down the next. The place was tiny, no more than thirty people could probably be seated in it at a time. A very no-nonsense woman named Wanda took their orders. She seemed to know Harvey well enough that she called him 'Hardy Boy' which he didn't seem to care for too much, but he didn't put up a fight about it.
As they sat there, across from each other at the tine table, Harvey smiled to Selina. Wanda had made a comment right after they got there 'that girl is too damn sweet lookin' to know how much a fool you be actin' up.'
Once they were alone, so to speak, Harvey held Selina's hands in his.
"I'm glad you came out to bother me tonight. I been havin' a good time."

Selina only reached around and winked at Wanda when she made her remarks. Harvey was an ass, but he worked hard, and played even harder. He knew his scale, and balanced it well. As she smoothed down her skirt before ordering, and smiling after reciting what she wanted, she found her hands in his. It was always such an interesting comparison. His hands were worn, larger, man hands. Her own were a delicate sort, dwarfed by his. She tried to keep her nails long, but with her extracurriculars, it was futile. So she'd relented to keeping them shorter, but neat.
Smiling fondly at him, she wanted to say so much. "You work too hard, you know. And same." Was what she said instead. Right now was not the time to tell them she got her scholarship. That she was going to be in college for a bit. In Europe. There would be another time for that lie, not when they were both bubbling with liquor, and having a good time.

"Eh, if I didn't work hard then what would be the point of working in the first place? You know me, I don't sleep much."
Harvey frowned a little. It was true though, he worked very hard and it was beginning to pay off for him, he had made detective, afterall, just like he'd been wanting for quite some time. He gave her hands a squeeze, his frown melting off a little.
"Its always nice to see ya when I get to. I know I been busy, but I'll always find a way to make some time for ya."

Their food came in decent time, and she nodded, thankful for his reassurance. He had become detective, which was huge for him. And her...well, school was in store. She gave him a soft smile as he held onto her, and as she held on to him. This couldn't continue forever, at least she knew that. It was only when their food was set before them did she let his hands go, a soft sigh on her lips. As much fun as they had that night, she didn't want to taint it with news of school. That could wait for another day.

Harvey gave her a smile just before their hands broke so they may begin to eat. He was pleased that chicken and waffles went so well together. Syrup was drizzled generously over both his chicken and waffles. His fork was unrelenting in helping him conquer the plate before him. He'd pick up a coffee the waitress brough him every few minutes and have a swig. About half way through he looked to her again.
"So, what's been going on with you?"

She had been quiet for a while, now. So much was flitting through her alcohol hazed mind that she'd just...stopped talking. Instead she focused on her own plate of chicken, and waffles, delighting in the tastes it offered. She had a mug of coffee as well, but hers was clouded with cream.
She just sort of shrugged, not wanting to let him in on that she only had a few months left in Gotham. That she was graduating, and had won a 'scholarship.' But he was a detective. So she knew better. She had learned better.
"I'm almost done with school and got my scholarship." She kept it simple, not meeting his eyes.

Harvey lowered his coffee slowly and looked to her with curiosity.
"That's great! I'm so happy for you. You going to Gotham State or what?"
Harvey was happy while simultaneously his heart was sinking because it feared for the worst in this situation.
She's going away, far from here.
He sat there, still, trying to look not so concerned about it, but he was a terrible liar with her. He would always be.

He was faking it. She could feel it in his voice. He wasn't happy. He was that she was going to be gone from the boarding school....but he knew.
She barely shook her head, finally raising her eyes to his.
"Italy. I got a scholarship to their art history program. Your mom...has been helping me a bit with Italian. And...my grades, and my essay..." She had done both. An essay. And her grades weren't bad. She'd even begged Delilah to help her with the language. But the rest was bullshit. Pure bullshit. They were both lying to eachother, only she didn't know why he wasn't happy.
And her scholarship had been courtsey of her peers.
"I'm not leaving yet, but...maybe I could leave a few things at your place. Or your mom's. I just..." she didn't have a lot, to be honest. But what she did have, she wanted to stay safe. "Tom. I want Tom to go somewhere he won't be left outside." The black cat she'd befriended her first days at the boarding school was her only real friend. And the only thing at the school she wanted safe.

"Italy! Wow, you'll be able to see so much. Not to mention the operas are pretty good."
That part Harvey did like. At least she was going to Italy. It was a good place from what he'd always heard. Not to mention he could speak the language himself, pretty fluently, but that was something hardly anyone knew and he didn't have a lot of opportunity to show that, anyway.
"You can leave whatever you need and the cat is welcome. Though, I can't promise I can get him out of a tree if he pulls that shit on me."
Harvey chuckled. He was happy for her but not for himself and chided himelf for being selfish. She was finally getting out of here. At least she'd have an excuse to come back should she ever think to.

...he wasn't playing a joke, was he? Of course she was going to Italy for the music. Seriously. "Ding-ding, Detective. I do believe you've solved your first case! ...and yes. The music, the history." She shrugged, part of her mood lifted.
"And your mom has been fantastic. I never knew she was fluent. I sent in a tape, too, with the essay, and I guess they liked it. But...thank you. Tom...kinda does his own thing. He knows how to get out of a tree if he gets in one. Just, you know, food, water, and a place out of the weather." She really did like the little black feline. As he laughed, her focus snapped back up to him.
She'd heard him happy before. And laughing. He was doing the motions, but neither was portraying the right essence. As much as she wanted to apologize, she just couldn't.

"Well, only bad asses can give birth to newer bad asses, eh?"
Harvey smirked at his little joke, but he believed it to be the absolute truth. He listened to her talk about the tape and the cat. He chuckled a bit at the cat doing 'his own thing.'
"Well I'm sure he'll make a decent roommate's'long as he helps with rent, eh."
Harvey sighed a bit and went back to eating again. They were both sad about this and they both knew it, but they weren't going to share that with each other. They had a tendency to do that at times, always trying to keep the good times as the good times, never letting the other in on their emotional turmoil. A little complicated, but they seemed to always make it work, putting the brave face on for the other. Always putting each other before themselves.
