It was difficult to know that the world would never understand the important of what they cradled together in each other’s hands. He could see it in her eyes that it meant nothing more to get than just a plain colored poppy. Some went even as far as to call them weeds. They were plants of course, but they meant so much more to Jonathan, knowing the ultimate secret that lies beneath the pollen and the petals. The flower alone was potent, but nowhere near the amount of potency that was in his toxin.
When she mentioned her show he slowly nodded in agreement, even if it was slightly against his example. She probably saw her show in a separate light that he did. He saw it for what it really was and she saw it as her job that she enjoyed doing. He could have broken it down to her why every action leading up to and around her job was because of fear, but at the moment that was off the current topic. They held something so much more important in their hands, and he was fixated on it.
He watched her carefully as he gaze turned to the flower and then him. Curiosity in her was rising and he could tell. When she asked his thoughts were confirmed on it. What a question indeed. His thoughts turned to whether it would be alright to tell her such a thing. There was no one in Gotham that knew the secret behind his toxin except Ra’s to his knowledge. The only other that he believe may have been close was Edward Nigma, but even then it was a stretch.
Dr. Crane was very possessive of the knowledge surrounding the flower. If it were ever discovered that it was indeed the main ingredient professionals would use it against him. There was another who had seen it one other time. A Miss Ivy, now known as Poison Ivy, had seen him making his toxin one day. Although she had seen the most important ingredient, she still wasn’t aware of the formula. If anyone was actually able to get his hands on his formulas it could have been devastating, That’s why he went to such lengths to hide it.
That brought him to VerMillions case, as he started into her eyes continueing to hold her hand with the flower. Could she be trusted with such a thing? She had already seen it and how much it meant to him already. She wasn’t going to be leaving any time soon, even if she had attempted to flee. “This is the truth.” He started off with his eyes fading to a much darker shade of blue. “This is the perfect instrument to bring my research into light for the world, the only way to make them see what I see. The reality in the world…” His hands left the flow and he turned from her, letting her keep it in her hands. “It’s the most important thing on this earth…” He nodded to nothing with his back turned. “Keep it..”
