Joker was wearing a long purple coat, but the colour faded and now it looked like more black than purple, he was wearing a hat in the same blackish-purple colour too. The coat and the hat were hiding his face well enough. Joker chose them carefully because he didn't want to be recognized. Yes, strange for him because he did like being recognized, being popular, but everything was changing so quickly. Like the Domino Effect. His body started feeling sick and from that moment everything crashed.
Just thinking that he had to face such problems like...ordinary people...those sad people who never felt the healthful power of laughter...it made him mad. Hehehe, making a mad clown madder, that's something. However, this mad clown wasn't so happy lately, his expression was sad even now, his smile frowned down. He wasn't wearing any lipstick so his lips had like an ill colour, a stained white-ish colour and that was caused by his illness too. There were other signs of his illness, for example the bags under his eyes were deeper and he lost some pounds so his physical appearance was showing it too and Joker didn't want to show off what was happening to him, if his enemies found out that he was ill...Joker sighed and stopped to walk looking at the door in front of him.
The Doc's flat. The door was closed, but the clown opened it without any problems, it was a child's play for him. Joker entered in and closed the door behind him, but in that moment he felt his head spin around...he knew what that meant, he got used to it by now. Nevertheless, Joker had to close his eyes and laid his head back on the door. He loathed this. Joker let out his breath slowly opening his eyes, nothing was spinning, good sign, it meant that he could walk now. Joker looked around, the kitchen and the living room were put together and there was one bedroom then the Joker snooped around, usually he would have made some sarcastic considerations, but this time he didn't feel like it...one of the many side effects of whatever was happening to him. Joker took a glass and filled it with water then he sat down at the kitchen table taking off his hat, his green hair seemed the only thing unaffected by his illness, for now at least. The Prince of Crime waited for the Doctor.

Joan was having such a nice normal day running errands. She'd dropped off dry cleaning, stopped for a coffee and even had enough time to wander around for a little time window shopping before she went for groceries. Had she known how the day was going to end she wouldn't be nearly so calm as she walked the stairs up to her apartment, struggling past bags of food to reach the keys in her handbag.
Pushing the door open with her elbow while she tried not to drop anything there was a moment when she didn't see the Joker, didn't face the room she just wanted to get the front door shut before her cat tried to make a break for it...Except something felt wrong. Not only was the cat no where to be seen but there was sudden feeling of tension and dread that she only associated with the Asylum. Maybe she could recognise the smell of the clown's chemically altered skin without realising it, maybe she just knew that feeling that she was being watch. Maybe she was just paranoid and randomly got that feeling anyway only to dismiss it as being nothing. Whatever the case when she looked up her eyes fix straight away onto the clown sitting in her kitchen.
She stepped back, bumping into the edge of the front door as the bags she was carrying slowly lowered in her arms then dropped the last couple of feet onto the floor with a rustle of packaging, a couple of tins and a few bottles making the most noise as they knocked together. Her mind was racing, her first thought was to not make any sudden moves, to get out the door and away. Running would be a sudden move but Joan still eased back around the edge of the door as she slowly lifted her hands to chest height, palms towards the Joker in a 'Be calm' yet 'I'm unarmed, don't shoot' gesture. She had only her handbag still hanging off her arm and she was pretty sure the pepper spray was going to be of no use "This is not appropriate, if you wanted to talk you should have come to the asylum" Joan said very calmly, she'd had years of experience pretending to be calm even under the greatest of stress, she could fake the tone well.
She'd tried so hard to keep her life safe from work, tried to never get personal with patients or give any indication that she so much as existed outside of the Asylum yet here was one of the rogues in her home. The worst one she could imagine. She always knew this was going to happen someday, she might be paranoid but she wasn't wrong.

The Joker observed the Doctor and his lips stretched up in a small and tired smile, maybe it was just muscolar memory or maybe the Doctor was really amusing the clown. He waved the water inside the glass in a contemplative manner "Please, take a seat and remember it's not your place to try anything funny..." this time the smile showed some teeth "...I am the Joker" there was an unspoken threat in these words and the clown was sure that Leland could see through the lines, she was trained for this after all, okay, maybe how-to-handle-a-psychopath-who-broke-in-your-house wasn't a taught subject at school, but still.
The Joker pointed the chair in front of him with an elegant gesture and rose a green well-cured brow "My last visit to the asylum didn't end so well" he remarked "But, we are not here to talk about the Asylum or what I found in there..." the clown took something from his jacket, a white plastic bag not bigger than his palm "...we are talking about the most interesting topic of all time..." Joker pointed himself with a big smile "...Me!" he laughed, but it eneded really soon because of the coughing. Joker turned his head around facing away the Doctor and the glass, covering his mouth with the arm, it looked like he caught a flu.
The Joker closed his eyes for few seconds and when he opened them there were few red little lines all around the iris "This wasn't a causality, you see..." a sigh "...I have been caughing a lot lately even though I don't have any sort of flu..." Joker put the contents of the little bag in the water, but the clown didn't start miking, leaving it disperse in the glass. Joker put the bag back in the jacket looking the Doctor into her eyes "...other symptoms are dizziness, nose bleeding, headache, fatigue and...oh I like this one..." Joker smiled "...hallucinations" maybe he was telling her all the symptoms or maybe not, but that was all the clown was going to say "I need your consultation...I was going to Dr. Crane, but you know how he is, he probably was gonna say that what's happening to me is caused by fear and he would have tried to make me taste some of his useless toxin" the Joker rolled his eyes because Crane's toxin didn't work with the clown apparently "So..." he leaned back against the chair "...you are a Doctor, you have to help me, that Hippocrates was a funny fellow!" Joker took the glass but without drinking and waited for the Doctor's reply.

Joan didn't move from the door "I think I would prefer to stand..." defying the Joker was dangerous but short of a gun pointed at her head making her she didn't want to move closer and be within arm reach and she had to test what kind of mood he was in. Besides, her legs had pretty much locked in place anyway, stuck somewhere between running, marching in to try and wrestle some control and staying very still.
Joker's visits to the Asylum never end well, his arrival was almost as dreaded as his inevitable departure but that cycle was soon to be thrown to hell if the talk was to be believed.
Joan frowned at the bag, confused and very cautiously curious. Drugs of some kind she assumed but as far as she knew nothing worked on Joker and she'd never seen him sick before. Suddenly she was very concerned about contagious diseases. As Joker explained the symptoms she became more worried but she hadn't heard of any plagues running around the city.
She stayed silent until Joker was finished, she was a psychologist, listening was what she did. Curing illnesses? That wasn't one of her skills. As he demanded help she immediately glanced into what was her home, it currently felt nothing like it "I'm not that kind of doctor, you need..." She thought twice about suggesting he go to a hospital, too many innocent people "I know some people, I could call someone for you, to help" She gestured to the phone in the room and moved towards it, perhaps a little too quick to try, she wanted him gone fast.

"I think I would prefer if you sit, Doc" Joker said with an unnerving calm tone, the clown was never really calm and sometimes it was just the calm before the storm. Joker observed the doc's movements, she was still, but surely she was looking around, the doc was not stupid at all.
Joker smirked joking "You are not that kind of doctor alright..." he wanted to laugh a little, but instead started coughing. However, when the doc moved towards the phone, Joker pushed a chair with his leg "Sit" still that calm tone, one part of him wanted the doc to try to call someone so it gave him an excuse to hurt the poor doctor....since when he needed excuses anyway?
"My body is fine..." it surely was resistant, it resisted to a freaking acid bath "...my mind instead...well you know" he tried to laugh again and this time a little laugh came out from his mouth, a very deep laugh, it was really creepy "My mind is doing this to my body" he explained. His crazy mind was trying to kill itself or something? It was madness in there after all "So, I need your help, Dr. Leland" Joker pointed the chair.

When Joker pushed the chair out it was clear to Joan he wasn't going to let her skirt around the option of sitting down again, he'd made a move, for all it seems harmless to Joan's mind it was a clear indication that he wasn't going to let that subject drop. Joan was going to end up sitting whether she wanted to or not and further defiance would likely result in further action, which would likely escalate. Joan did not want to escalate.
She was not going to let Joker take complete charge though, he wanted her to play doctor and Joker was a dangerous patient when someone let him take charge. Just look at what happened to Harley.
The outward appearance of calm continued at Joan quietly sighed and picked up the bag of groceries she dropped, taking it with her to deposit on the counter top as she moved the seat out and a little further to the side before sitting down "What is it that has lead you to believe the problem exists only in your mind? While you have an immunity to many drugs it is entirely possible that some illnesses may still have some effect. What tests have you done?" She was trying very hard to pretend it was just a normal occurrence to have the Joker in her kitchen having a chat. That was however easier done when she wasn't looking at that twisted face and as such she began removing her groceries from the bag and placing them on the counter. He interrupted her day, her body was determined to continue with it for the sake of her nerves.

Joker smiled when the Doc sat down, but smirked when she continued removing the groceries from the bag. It was clear that the Doctor was trying to not freak out, it was really funny, a nice show. The clown looked down at the groceries for a moment, in a...ehm...normal occurrence he would have made a joke about her food, like asking if she was on a diet or something, but Joker wasn't feeling his normal self. Hehehe, normal.
Joker put down the glass on the table near the groceries bag. For a moment, he wondered what would have been like living a normal life, a boring one, with groceries and cats, but that just lasted for a moment because he had had a life like that and there was a reason if he couldn't remember it...too boring to remember.
"All that you can think of" the clown replied about the tests "Doctors are very willing to help when they are kidnapped...ehehe...kidnap...I always liked that word...kid and nap...very descriptive" Joker laughed again, this time the laugh actually came out "So..." he continued after the laughing ended "...I think that the madhouse did this to me!" he pointed to his temple and moved his index in circles in a gesture that meant being crazy "With all that funny drugs..." the Joker sighed happily "...what about the side effects though?" the happiness vanished and now Joker looked really angry, his voice got darker, his green eyes looked directly into Joan's ones "What if some of your beloved drugs did this to me? How should I react about that, mmmhhhh?" Joker moved closer to the Doc, enough to make her uncomfortable, it was clear that the psycho clown was keeping himself from hurting her.

Joan paused when Joker mentioned kidnapping the doctor. There's a clear air of disapproval "You shouldn't kidnap people, it's a very bad thing to do" It's stating the obvious but sometimes with insanity the obvious was very hard to see, not that she believed Joker would change but she still felt he had to be told what he was doing was wrong because he either didn't see it or he didn't care when he should. She'd sit there and try to be his conscience if she had to. She could also see the possibility of this day ending in her own kidnapping, she had an interest in avoid that if at all possible.
His mention of the drugs given at Arkham was expected, it was a logical leap and she straightened up on her stool as he got closer, she didn't like him getting closer but was still trying not to show it and fight the urge to run or make any sudden movements that might set him off "There are many kinds of standard treatments used at the Asylum, to my knowledge none have had any effect on you at all" She tried to keep her tone even, to deny the idea or even the possibility that blame might lie with the asylum or it's staff.
Now the none standard, experimental treatments that happened at Arkham Joan couldn't be so sure about. She disliked the idea of experimenting on patients but she knew it happened, she had also found there was little she could do to stop her coworkers but if there was someone experimenting on the Joker it certainly wouldn't have made it in to his official file at the asylum.

Joker rose a brow when the Doctor told him that kidnapping people was a bad thing, she said it like a mum educating a child about things, he kept a straight face for one second then he started laughing because apparently the psycho clown was finding this funny for some reason " Really?? It's bad?! Am I grounded now..." he laughed " No more tv for a week?!!" he laughed so hard this time that he had to slap his hands against the table, incidentally he slapped the glass down, its contents spilled on the table. " Did you have to memorize it?" Joker stopped laughing suddenly talking about the drugs " You know what I'm talking about here! You know that they do funny things to us poor patients!" he used a victim tone as if he was the innocent one here " Listen, something has happened and you'll help me find out what" Joker was serious now. He put his hand on the wet table so he looked down feeling the damp " Oh, geeeez" he sighed " Well, I'll have to use other manners then" he shrugged taking off his gloves. His hands were white as usual, but his nails were becoming black. The clown put the gloves into the coat's pocket looking annoyed " How can you help me? Think about it! Tick Tock!" he made that sound to let the Doc know that there was no time to waste.

Joan sighs as he starts to laugh "Perhaps when you start listening I'll be able to stop saying it" It was ridiculous but nothing else worked with the Joker, nagging has as good a shot as anything. Sadly it didn't seem to be working anyway.
The slap on the table and spilt glass makes Joan visibly jump before she takes a sharp deep breath and tries to force herself back to her calm act but the sudden stop in the laughing just makes her more uneasy and the implied threats weren't helping. She managed to keep her tone level but everything about her stance was tense and fighting the urge to bolt "There's nothing I can do, I don't know anything. I don't do those sort of experiments and the kind you're talking about are unlikely to be recorded in an official file at the asylum...Why don't you tell me what happened during your last visit to the asylum? Perhaps we can work something out?" Or spend a long time talking, preferably long enough to die of old age rather than whatever Joker had planned though spending a lifetime with the clown wouldn't exactly seem much better.

"Talking, talking, talking....blablabla" Joker let out a sigh. Sure, he had to talk about this with the Doc, but at the same time he was wasting his time and the clown didn't know how much time he actually had at the moment "Listen, something did this to me...some medicine that the Asylum gave to me" Joker moved his fingers as if he was quoting something when he said the word medicine, just a reminder that Joker didn't believe it was medicine.
"Mhhhh..." Joker narrowed his eyes looking at the Doc "...yes, perhaps it's true...you are one of the few doctors that actually do their job..." Joker smiled seeing Joan all upset "...you also think that Jervis can be cured" the clown said the last part very quickly and in a whisper. Then he stood up "We can do this in three ways: one I put my blood in you so that you'll have the same thing that I have and you'll be forced to find a cure to save your life...but that is boring because it's overused....b I could threaten you...tre I go to the Asylum and find the answer by myself, but if I do it then you'd have your and your colleagues' deaths on your conscience" yeah even her own death, Joker had his own logic.
What did he do?? Good question, although not exactly the question that Joker expected "I escaped so that was what I did...but the last time they gave me the medicine weeellll....I was sleeping....I know...a clown should never be boring, but hey...they drugged the boredom inside of me!!" that made sense.

Joker didn't seem to be accusing Joan personally of doing something to him, that was something. Though getting a mark of approval for doing your job properly from probably the worst psychopath in the city was not exactly a glowing recommendation.
Joan looked visibly irritated when the Joker mentioned Jervis. She did believe there was hope for the man but if rogues like Joker kept getting involved it would make it near impossible to keep him focused and out of trouble. Discussing another patient was not something she was going to do though, the frown would have to be enough for that subject.
Every movement the Joker made caused a little flash of alarm in Joan's mind like at any moment Joker might decide he's bored and end it. Joan has to force herself to remain still and calm every single time and him getting up was not helping. His scenarios of various people dying was even less helpful. Still, if the Joker was in a mood to apply logic to something perhaps there was hope. She didn't address the first point, Joker had already decided it was boring, if that was a good enough reason to avoid it Joan was not going to argue against it "Threats do not work if the person has no information to give, I have told you I don't know what has happened. If you go to the asylum you have every chance of killing someone who does know what happened and then no one can help"
She listens to the description of his last visit as she considers just how far down this rabbit hole she's going to have to go to find another way out again "And you escaped the night after you were treated? I can go to the asylum, talk to people, find out who was there that night, in return you let me live and you never come near me again" A deal with the devil or a fools plan, one or the other might be her only hope but she predicted she'd have more luck being the fool with the plan and oh boy did she have a foolish plan. She just had to hope she knew the Joker as well as she thought she did.

Joker smirked at the doc's reaction when the crazy mad hatter was mentioned, the crazy clown had his reasons why he thought that Jervis couldn't be cured...first of all the Mad Hatter was schizophrenic and schizophrenia couldn't be cured, but just monitored by drugs that dear Jervis didn't like to take and second...well...Jervis would miss Wonderland too much. Also, Joker always knew when someone was a Funland citizen, also called a crazy person. But, yeah, the doc was wise enough to not talk about this because it wasn't the time and Joker could have become even angrier.
Joker put his hands behind is back and nodded in a very listening manner "Oh, of course, I would kill them after telling me what they know and they would tell me..." the clown looked at the doctor "...they always do" a big smile. Joker stopped walking, he knew that the doc got nervous at every movement that he made so someone could think that Joker was walking to upset the doctor, but no, he was walking because he had to walk. He felt his head get dizzy for a moment and he couldn't handle another fainting...not now, it wasn't the moment. If he passed out then the doc would have called the police and then...
...Joker laid his back against the wall and looked forward for few seconds, his gaze seemed lost like if he was seeing something in the shadows and he probably was with the being crazy fact and all that. For a moment, the doc's voice was just a noise because his hearing didn't want to work properly, but then he heard her deal. Joker smiled a little and shook his head "No" he said simply, he didn't trust her for that job. Joker tried to sound threatening, but his body didn't follow through. Joker sat down again in front of Joan and looked at her, at the doc's blurry shape.

The 'No' was expected, Joker was unpredictable enough that he might have agreed which would have saved her the trouble of convincing him to do what she wanted but Joan didn't consider it the end of the matter "I'm sure they will tell you many things but forcing the truth and getting someone to admit that they drugged you when that will likely result in their death is unlikely to be one of them. There are better methods. I know you will not trust me but do you have reason to doubt in my desire to live, to keep those innocent alive and to care for my patients, yourself included?"
The whole time she was watching him very closely. She saw the unsteadiness in his movements, the unfocused look in his eyes. She hoped for the possibility of him passing out but praying for miracles doesn't make them any more likely.
She leans to one side as he sits, watching his eyes trying to focus on her and stealing herself to move, convincing herself to fight her panic.
Joan's movement was suddenly fast as in one movement she grabbed a can of cat food that she'd unpacked on to the bench between them, driving it towards the side of the Joker's head and trying to brain him with it as she slips off her chair, ducking her head down as she makes a sprint across the room towards her bedroom without looking back to see if she got him or not.
It might make more sense to most people to go for the front door and leave the apartment but then most people don't have their doors replaced with reinforced ones with deadbolts. Most people aren't paranoid about homicidal clowns stopping by though. Of course as they say you're only paranoid if they're not actually out to get you.

The cat food crushing against his head did the trick. The pain did the trick. He needed that. His green eyes became focused again and when he shook his head he heard the door of Dr. Leland's bedroom close shut. In fact, the good doctor wasn't in front of him anymore. She was in her bedroom. Joker smiled and tasted iron on his tongue. He licked the rivulet of blood on his lips, a trail that started from the wound on his forehead caused by the can of cat food.
Joker was staring at the bedroom door. Oh, look, little kiddos, ol' uncle Jay had a new game for you: What was the doctor doing? Let's find out! Maybe, she was calling the police? Probably. Maybe she was gonna die? Fifty, fifty chance, it all depended on ol' uncle J's aim! The clown was rather happy now. Finally, the doctor had done something that he could react to. She should have known that trying to escape and hurting weren't things to do, at least not to the Joker. It was like giving him a ticket to the show that was gonna be your funeral and you couldn't spell funeral without fun!
The psycho clown grabbed the silenced pistol that was behind his back, tucked into his purple trousers. Then he pointed it to Leland's bedroom door and started shooting at the door. Randomly. He just shot at all the door, making big holes. Surely, the doctor was ducking away in terror or maybe one of the bullets had hit her! Who knew?! That was the fun part of this new game.
Joker was laughing hysterically while he was shooting and only stopped when he saw the empty magazine falling down from the pistol. Joker grabbed another one from the trousers' pocket and reloaded the gun while standing up. The dizziness was gone and it was replaced by pure anger "Came out of theeere!! I found you! Now, it's my time to hide!!" Joker could have kicked the door down because the door was basically destroyed due to the shooting. But instead, he decided to stand there with his gun and wait. It was more fun to see what was gonna happen. Was the police coming? Had he shot her? Was she hiding away in pure terror? Joker let out another laugh, waiting.
