It's true that there's a very strong connection between Poison Ivy and her plants. Her vines are literally intelligent enough to have minds of their own, though their minds are very simple and completely subordinate to hers. They don't exactly have emotions, but they do have internal states of sorts. And they can't feel pain, though they can be distressed by injury. The connection is not so great that she feels that distress herself, but she is supremely and acutely aware of it. And though it's under her control, the connection runs both ways - her vines take their cues from her emotions as much as her directions. So while they are not really a part of her, the influence they have on her and vice versa is very strong.
The injured vine begins to slowly and methodically wrap itself around her, curling the rest of the way up her torso before wrapping around her right arm. There's no point in keeping it loose now - it wouldn't be able to help. And her body heat will help it some even though what it really needs is to be taken back to her lab. The other shifts slightly to curl beside her. It's fully and completely unharmed, still very able to protect her but its sluggish movements mimics its master's show of tiredness. She's careful to keep both of them moving slowly, so as not to inadvertently suggest to Nightwing that their movements are anything to be concerned about. And they aren't... for the moment.
Her eyes shift toward the vine wrapping around her arm, and she quietly murmurs to it. "It's okay, baby, you can rest now," she says, actually quite deeply upset that she had to sacrifice its well-being in this fight, though she keeps that feeling from reaching her expression. It's very important that Nightwing see nothing that would suggest that she's ready to offer any sort of a resistance.
Though she doesn't look at him directly, she can see enough of his movements to indicate that he's being very cautious. Unfortunate that he's so aware of the danger, and yet he's coming closer. She notes the re-breather and guesses that he thinks that it will protect him. And it will, somewhat - her pheromones reach a full five feet around her now and are much more powerful than they were the last time they met, and the toxic cloud that was emitted from her fruit still surrounds her even though it's now mixed into the air enough to not be seen - unlike he who would use gases that don't linger for long in order to avoid accidental casualties, hers tend to stay around since she fears no such thing.
But though both of those need to be inhaled to work, they aren't the only hazards of coming close to her. Her remaining vine can still grab him, and she has a number of other tricks she might employ, depending on what he does. For now, though, she's patient, hoping that if she shows no resistance he will grow more confident in the false assumption that he's won.
Continuing her ruse, there's a pause before she answers his question as if it's a bit hard for her to think. She can't give him the real answer, as that would reveal what she's been up to lately. So she can lie, or she can dodge, and she picks the latter. She laughs weakly before tiredly saying, "'Belongs to the Wayne Gardens'? How could a plant belong to Wayne Gardens? Did they create any of them? Or were they or their ancestors stolen from Mother Nature's own womb merely for the entertainment of a crowd? Nothing here belongs to them! And it concerns me because unlike all the other heartless people on this planet that actually matters to me."
But though her answer is slow and lengthy, she doesn't fail to keep an eye on Nightwing. She doesn't know what he's planning on doing, but she doesn't trust that he won't attack her even though she appears to be given up - it's what she would do, after all. But if so, her remaining vine is ready to defend her.

"Well according to the law it is property of Wayne Garden's and therefore belong to them," Nightwing replied rather to the point knowing she would listen to the law.
"But seeing as you're a crook like the rest of them, those rules don't seem to apply to you any more," he continued.
Maybe if he could get to close, he could anger her and see if he can break this possible act. He knows something is up. But isn't willing to get to comfortable at the moment.
He pulled out a pair of folded handcuffs, Nightwing decided to try and test these waters further. But he never went in without a back up plan. He had a few things up his sleeves to turn the tables if she lashed out at him, which he was counting on.
A possible few weapons or maybe when something that is built into the suit that all it would take is one push of a button. He was getting closer though. Also trying to taunt her into attacking him. He'd be quick enough to get out of the way. But something was started get into his system even with the re-breather. He didn't notice at the time since it was such a weak amount.
He was still able to focus. But the strength of the substance might be able to distract him if he lingered there for much longer than needed.
"Put your hands out where I can see them," he instructed. He'd try to go in to cuff her once he could see her hands. Going in blindly was a bad idea. He still had trick of his own if she tried. He still had a bit of distance between the two of them.
"And also, if it is a plant such as this subject...Does that mean it belongs to you just because of who you are or what you have become," he sent in another blow to try and taunt the plant woman into anger or attack.
Possibly a stupid choice, but he could manage. Sure he hadn't been lucky the first few times. But even if she caught on to his game or tried anything. He had a few new gadgets he was waiting to try and test out.

When Nightwing comments on the law, Poison Ivy immediately gives a scoffing laugh. "The law? I'm getting a lecture from a vigilante about the law?" she asks, "Seeing as you're just as guilty of trespassing and assault tonight as I am, who are you to talk to me about the law?" Of course she doesn't believe in law at all herself. How can she waste time stopping to care about some rules some idiot invented that prevent her from doing what she has to do? At best she cares when people break the laws that concern the environment - but only because it's so grating that people can't seem to follow even the most minimal, insufficient laws that they set for themselves.
But though she says this easily, her mind is only slightly on her words. She doesn't need to think much in order to call them out on their hypocrisy - that she could do in her sleep. No, most of her mind is focused on the subject of Nightwing and how close he's getting. She notes but doesn't react when the handcuffs appear. She doesn't particularly care about them because she suspects that she won't be in them for long, assuming that she lets him put them on in the first place. Because he's indeed right that she's planning on fighting back, but not just yet... She's not sure herself when the proper moment for that will be, but she'll know it when she sees it.
Of course she suspects that he's still suspicious and on his guard, but beyond simply planning her attack and hoping to catch him by surprise with it she's also got many other tricks up her sleeve - her proverbial sleeve since her outfit doesn't actually have any. When he asks to see her hands, she complies. But she doesn't do anything convenient like raise them - instead she turns them over on her lap so that he can see that they're empty aside from the gloves that cover them, resting them on her still entangled knees. There, he can see them. Of course, having empty hands means little to Poison Ivy.
His final crack causes her to give him a weary look as she comments, "If a child was adopted by horribly abusive people who did not care for it properly, but then was rescued by someone who saw its plight and gave it all the care and love it deserved, would you then call that kidnapping and argue that it should go back to the people who 'legally' should have it? And is a child so different from an innocent plant?" Of course his words are irritating, but she'll not respond to them with violence - that would not help anything. Though she suspects that responding with words won't do a thing either - mostly it just makes her feel better because she knows that she's right.

"The difference between you and me is, I'm not the one stealing," he said flat out.
Nightwing looks at her. Was she really comparing a child to a plant. That was where it seems just about everyone stood at odds with Ivy. There was a difference between plants and children. Of course plants were living things as well, but children have a life that seemed more valuable to many. And Nightwing followed that. Though protecting the wild life was important as well.
But this wasn't the case on the subject. She had broken and entered and tried to steal something from a Wayne run foundation. And when it involves the Wayne name, he was entitled to step in and protect such.
Even if things were rough lately. That did not mean Dick wouldn't be there to help out and protect what belonged to Bruce. Especially from a crook.
"Don't change the subject," he replied. Not going to answer her question on the comparison. There was no point in trying to put in his opinion against her. Not like he was going to change her mind any time soon.
"Now put your hands in the air," Nightwing said. he rather have her hands in the cuffs and end this now. He'd give her the chance to go quietly as he got a bit closer.

"I'm not stealing," Poison Ivy replies firmly, sounding slightly irritated at the repeated accusation. Because she honestly doesn't see it that way, and isn't about to be convinced otherwise - especially not by Nightwing of all people.
And yes, she really is comparing a child to a plant. It's a very good comparison, after all, as children like plants are innocent beings that need lots of love and attention to grow up properly. You wouldn't think it to see how she treats most people, but she actually has quite the soft spot for children, though the younger the better because the older ones are already being influenced by all the stupid and terrible people on the planet. That's why plants will forever be even more innocent and precious - they listen to nobody but her.
"I didn't change the subject, but if you're too blind and stupid to understand that, I wash my hands of you," she says quietly and bitterly, though in reality she gave up on him and the vast majority of the planet long ago. Even the so-called environmentalists are hardly better than anyone else these days. That's why she doesn't particularly care who dies in her crusade to set things right - the people who survive will have to be compelled to do the right thing either way, so it doesn't matter which ones they are.
But for now the immediate problem is getting away from Nightwing, and though she frowns at it she complies with his request by lifting them as high as her shoulders - still rather low with her sitting on the ground. But though she purposely makes her expression distant and weary as if she doesn't care where Nightwing is or what he's doing, she still keeps her careful eye on him. It's not time to resist just yet, though with every step toward her he makes, she feels it coming closer. She actually isn't sure whether she'll allow him to use those handcuffs or not - she can escape from them, but it's also the principle of the thing.

He knew there was a slight cord he had hit there. Even if she wasn't faking, he knew something was up. Nightwing just kept his guard up, but acted as if in a careless way as he had gotten closer.
He just needed to spark that reaction to give him a reason to actually attack again. He didn't want to while she was still seemingly down and out.
Though he ignored her words of trying to turn it on him or even suggest what he was doing was same thing. A bit different for him since for him if any one knew who he was, he had access to these buildings as well. But of course they would never know that and he would never say.
He just wanted to see her back in a cell in Arkham if they could make room for her. Sometimes this was nothing more than an endless cat and mouse chase. But someone had to try and stop them.
Nightwing decides to act like taking the bait. He needs this to end or at least use this as a way to learn more of her methods since they last met. He moves in and is ready to place the handcuffs on her wrists. The pheromones taking in more effect as he knows he had to fight them off.
He was still ready for any quick action. It seemed the electric shock could prove as a plus when it comes to gear and his newly equip escrima sticks has them built in when released with the command of a button on either. But he would resort to this if necessary.

Patience is key here, so Poison Ivy forces herself to have it. When he ignores her words, she allows the silence to hang as if she's given up on arguing. Actually it's just plain easier to concentrate without making it look like she's trying to concentrate when she doesn't have to talk as well.
But finally the moment she was waiting for comes - as he reaches for her wrist so that he can put the handcuff on him. Her hands are hardly lifted high enough for him to reach them easily, and she did that intentionally just so that he would have to lean over. And when he does, she signals her remaining vine to attack. But she sets it upon a very specific target: Nightwing's rebreather. Though she doesn't know that it's leaking a little, it's working well enough to put a damper on her pheromones. She increased their strength by a good degree since the last time she met him, and they're now one of her few remaining weapons.
Her vine proves to be very quick in it's strike, almost resembling a snake in it's style and speed. But even as it moves, so does her hands. They quickly attempt to hold onto him by the wrists both to keep him close enough to feel the effects of the pheromones and to try to make it difficult or impossible for him to make a quick grab for any of his weapons. Her own movements aren't as fast as her vine, but she hopes that he'll be too distracted by it to pay her other movements some solid attention. And the only thing hampering her movements is the fact that her legs are still bound together.

Dick would have to remember when he got back to his head quarter, he was going to have to do something about that re-breather. It must have gotten damaged in that last fight he had been in only last night. There had been a gas leak at the power plant. He had responded to an emergency call to the police that there had been an accident.
Which it had turned out was a set up from a crazied disgruntled employee, that was saying his work had been stolen. And for some reason he felt by equaling things by killing the town would settle this all. Though, Dick had a feeling it was more about gassing the other employees and the guy didn't think about the affect the leak could take on the surroundings of it. The guy had most certainly lost it and took to swinging a fire-extinguisher to protect himself from the gas and Nightwing coming after him.
The re-breather had been on and the guy had taken a swing at him and hit the re-breather but Nightwing had been fast enough to slightly move back enough from avoiding getting hit in the face. And now it was obvious the re-breath had some damage to it's computer senses of setting and protection. And for the worst time of all it had to be what was the best use against Ivy.
Nightwing knew to expect something from her. Leaning the way he did was asking for danger. And he knew something was up.
And just as he had been leaning in to cuff her, that was when it happened. He had caught the slight movement of her body as her vines came at him again. Right toward his face and neck. At first his reaction was to block it and pull back, but the vine came in fast.
He slightly caught the motion of her hands towards his wrists. And as she tried to take the chance and grab hold, his reflexes were faster than her's. But she had caught him slightly off guard as he had tried to get off to the side.
Nightwings left wrist was out of reach within seconds after she had gotten the chance to even touch his wrist. He managed to pull away quick enough with that hand, but his right wrist was trapped in her grip.
All at the same time the plants had knocked the re-breather off his face. And on instinct after their few encounters, he help his breath as soon as the mask came off. So, she was trying to use her pheromones to her advantage. Well she couldn't get fully to him if he didn't breathe them in.
He had jerked back enough to keep his left arm out of her reach, but she kept him forward and slightly bent by keeping hold of his right wrist. Nightwing's next instinct was to act fast and distract her by trying to pull a weapon. He could see the re-breather was in sight.
He'd be able to grab it if he could get the vines away from him. And better if he could get her hold on his wrist off. Though being human meant holding his breath wouldn't be long. But he had at least three minutes to be able to hold his breath. That was the about the longest time he could. He had done it maybe on very few occasions. But if he tried for too long the lack of oxygen would take affect and eventually make him black out.
But he'd have to do it to protect himself. Thought it was more difficult to have to know try and fight his way to get the re-breather. This wasn't your average villain. He couldn't risk falling to her. Nightwing began to pull back against her as she had taken hold of his wrist as his other hand went for the escrima stick. He was quick.
Nightwing pulled in the direction of the re-breather and tried to drag Ivy with him. All at the same time he pulled out the one escrima stick with his left hand. This would be her knew threat. But she had to know that human's won't last long holding their breath and neither would he.
And with fighting back he could guarantee his time for oxygen being short would be fast and his chances of blacking out greater with the struggle.

The instant the rebreather is knocked from his face, Poison Ivy's next order to her vine is to wrap around it and attempt to crush the pesky object. The last thing she wants is for Nightwing to get his hands back on it, as it would allow him to resist her pheromones yet again. Her vine is quite strong - she's used it to literally break a man's neck before - so she has hopes that the rebreather isn't strong enough to stand up to that kind of punishment, though if it can then her vine can at least hold it away from Nightwing.
Because, seeing that he's holding his breath, she knows that she's just put him into a very tricky situation. There will be a limited amount of time before he has to breathe, and if he breathes too much of her pheromones then it's unlikely that he'll be unable to resist her. So she doesn't want to let him have an extra way out if she can possibly help it. Instead she'd prefer it if his options were limited to getting away from her completely or succumbing to her. The latter would, of course, be preferable, but the former would at least leave him at the disadvantage of not being able to come close to her without risking her pheromones, just as he should be.
Meanwhile, unable to grab both of his wrists, she instead brings her other hand to his arm so that she can hold the one that she managed to grab with both hands. She grips with both as hard as she can - which isn't that hard compared to some since she's no stronger than any other woman with her physique, but in this desperate situation she's going to use all of her strength to ensure her victory. And she also pulls on the arm, not really expecting to be able to pull him over but handicapping his movements by forcing him to bear her full weight.
Unfortunately, she can do nothing now about his other arm pulling out a weapon, but she's determined to win this - if not for herself, then for her precious babies waiting for her at her hideout. So she'll just have to bear this, though with any luck she'll be able to solve that problem too in a moment. In the mean time, she knows that every movement he makes cuts into the amount of time before he'll have to breathe.

Nightwing has no problem taking on men two the size and weight of himself. So her holding him back wouldn't be much of a problem. But considering she has those large vines all around her and she was already down on the ground....
The situation was building up against him at this point. Especially seeing as he couldn't take a breath unless he wanted to lose focus.
Even with this problem, he still manage to drag her a bit as he struggled for his re-breather. He saw the vines go for his re-breather and then wrap around it.
He knew what she was planning on what to be done with it. That was the gear thing about these devices, they didn't break that easily. He had just had a really bad luck the other day with it getting that small malfunction to have occurred.
It could stand the quite a bit of pressure for a while. And Nightwing knew he had to try and get to it sooner than later. He kept dragging her, but her plants seem to help go against him.
He pulled out the escrima stick and turned in onto shock mode. He then went for her one arm. Maybe that would get her to release him from her grip.

Though Nightwing may be used to grappling with people much bigger than himself, Poison Ivy knows that her weight and her hold will hamper him even though she isn't technically fighting. And beyond that, with her attached to Nightwing, her vine attached to her, and her vine holding the rebreather, every movement he makes toward it also moves it that much further away.
And the vine is moving, testing the item its holding for weaknesses. The rebreather is proving to be better constructed than she'd hoped, but if her vine can render it useless that will be a huge help in ensuring her victory. If only one vital part of it can be harmed, that would be a huge bonus to her.
But in the meantime, she can do little more than keep her grip on Nightwing's arm as firm as she can. So though she sees the escrima stick coming, she's not really able to do anything about it - hardly able to dodge while she's still so immobilized. She cries out when he applies it to her arm, the shock forcing her to let go but her grip with her other arm redoubles.
If she was merely fighting to save herself, she would have given up by now, but she's not that selfish. She didn't come here to cause any harm, she came here to get what she needed for her precious, innocent plants. And they still need her now - she won't stop fighting until she literally can't anymore. She's not merely trying to prevent herself from being arrested, there are living things that will die if she can't return to them. True, they are plants, but that makes them all the more innocent and helpless. None of them have never harmed anyone! Well, most of them anyway - those that did were under her direction, though, and it was always completely necessary.
But knowing that she's fighting for them and not herself is where her true strength lies, and it's what drives her to continue hanging on now even through the pain of the shock to her other arm. She is so close to defeating this terrible person who would dare stand in her way - she just needs to hold on for a bit longer.

Nightwing made the move he had been holding back. He hadn't wanted to fall to brute force, but she had left him with little choice as to take her on now that she threatened him with control his mind in a way.
He had been there before and had some slight feel for the affect. Nightwing wasn't going to fall for that again. He really did not like the thought of having to pursue like this considering it seemed she was after a plant.
It almost seemed to be pointless to him. But when it came to plants, what was pointless for all that hard work, meant the world to Ivy. Just different thoughts of mind. Two that would never meant on the same level.
And with being left in this position, Nightwing didn't have much of a choice. He swung the escrima stick at her arm. The shock would pulse through her. And this would more than likely give him that chance to escape her hold as he fought back.
There was only a limited amount of time before he would have to take a breath of air. Every move counted. And he shifted so as soon as he could get free, to be able to swing a kick at her to back her off and give him the force to push off with this other foot on the ground to go after the vines.

Though she can't say that she didn't see his attack on her other arm coming, Poison Ivy really has no choice but to keep trying at this point. It's either that or give in, and she's certainly not going to give in. And hanging onto him a few extra moments longer may be the difference between getting away and defeat here.
But though she can't stop or evade the attack, and though the electricity shoots through her other arm with the same effect of rendering the muscles of her arm physically incapable of holding onto him, she does have one last thing to try. As she feels his arm slip out of her grasp, she orders her vine to forget trying to break the re-breather and instead toss it further away. Not only does that put it further away from Nightwing, but it also frees it up to do something else. Even as she cries out at the kick to her back (quite the cruel move to make actually, given that her second arm was the last usable limb she had left - literally kicking her while she's down), she orders her vine to double back and try bind him.
The re-breather is not, in fact, flung very far - her vine wasn't designed with throwing things in mind, after all. No, it was designed for wrapping motions, even crushing if so ordered, and to do so very quickly so as to make evading it as close to impossible as she could manage with her present level of skill. And she can only watch as she sends it after Nightwing - it's basically her last hope at this point. After being kicked in the back she finds herself laying on her side, not able to move much. Her legs are still wrapped by the cord, and her arms twitch slightly but feel numb - it will take more time than she can afford for her nerves to recover from the shock enough to make them usable. No, it's all up to her vine at this point.
This last plant standing has some intelligence of its own, able to sense Nightwing and attack effectively even without its master's assistance. It only needed her to tell it that he's a target. It's very sensitive to its surroundings, and is therefore able to evade obvious attacks on it. It really only has the flaw that its intelligence is still only very basic. That, and the fact that it's a hair slower than Batman's ability to grab her by the neck in close quarters, but she's been working on that problem. For now she only hopes that it's able to force Nightwing back to keep him close to her and away from his re-breather the few moments more that will take. Or, failing that, at least grab hold of him well enough to keep him away from her until she can use her hands again.
Yet though she watches and hopes, she knows just how far the odds are now stacked against her. This isn't like the greenhouse where she had a whole building full of vines attacking him from every side. True, this latest generation is superior to those in every conceivable way, but though she could have been rather confident if both of the vines she'd brought where available, she now has only one and it's significantly easier to dodge one thing attacking you than it is to dodge two. And beyond that, he's better armed now than he was back then. At this point she's basically just hoping that he makes a mistake.

What Nightwing had planned had worked out in his favor. His kick making contact with her as he then turns slightly as he pushes off the floor with his other foot. Sending him into a back flip. Landing with one hand to push him off again. This leading him to now see the vine returning back after him.
As soon as he landed, crouching down for a moment. He spotted his re-breather a good distance away. He was a bit more than half way between the distance from Ivy and the re-breather.
Nightwing sees the vine coming after him. And instead of attacking it first he worked faster to get to the re-breather. Returning just seconds back into getting up and running. As soon as the vine would be coming at him, he would start into his flips again.
The escrima stick still within his right hand now as he moved. He was ready to strike the vine back. The shocks seem to work. While his movements were so quickly building, but his lungs running out of air, his hand had made a movement to his mask at some point. Sending out a signal, but this would go unknown to Ivy.

Practically helpless to do anything but watch at the moment, Poison Ivy feels something inside of her breaking as her last few ways she might protect herself right now get thwarted one by one. First the pheromones, since they only extend to the area immediately around her - which wouldn't be problem if she was able to keep the re-breather away from Nightwing since at the very least he wouldn't have been able to get close to her safely otherwise.
Next is the vine. It goes after Nightwing fast, only slightly slowed by the flips that make following his movement a little more difficult. What actually works is the escrima stick - once the vine gets close enough for Nightwing to hit it, though it's able to dodge the first few tries, the electricity damages the vine a little. It still tries to attack, though its movements are noticeably slowed and evading it becomes easier. If Nightwing hits it again, it will be weakened even further.
And that's the point where a part of Poison Ivy recognizes that it's hopeless. The vine is no longer fast enough to catch Nightwing, he need only get past it to collect his re-breather, and then he can come near her without risking her pheromones. And, for the moment at least, she's weaponless. Her mind suddenly drifts over what will happen if she's arrested now. The more sophisticated her work gets, the more fragile her plants are in the beginning stages. She hadn't been at all prepared to be gone for very long tonight, and there are so many plants who won't survive her absence for even a day at this point.
She feels her heart sink - again, it's happening again! After she'd strengthened herself so much, worked so hard to protect herself and her plants from being parted again, and now it's happening at a particularly bad moment. She suddenly feels herself filling with an overwhelming feeling of anger, and her eyes suddenly fixate on Nightwing. "MURDERER!" she screams at him. Can't he see what he's doing here? Her plants will die now, and it's all his fault. No, not all his fault - all everyone's fault! There's not another human being on this planet who wouldn't do the same thing in his place. They all deserve to die! Starting with him!
"MURDERER!" she screams at him again, attempting to move toward him. But she can't move very well - her arms still feel somewhat paralyzed by the electricity and her legs are still wrapped up on that cord. But she tries to use what movement she has to slide in his direction. He will die! He must die! She won't stop until he's dead! Of course, though she feels movement starting to return to the first arm he shocked as it recovers from that jolt of electricity, so long as he gets her properly secured before she can move it she's practically helpless to actually carry out her desires.
