'Yes that is why he's wearing the hat.' Lupin says in a deep and humorous voice. And when the voice tells Victor that it would be better off not knowing who owned it he simply grinned.
'Sorry if I was prying. I just wanted to know who owned the second voice. I wasn't planning to do anything more then that.' He said to the voice. Then to Lupin he said. 'Has anyone ever told you you sound like James Earl Jones?' He couldn't help but laugh when he said that. He put his hand over him mouth to stop himself before anyone looked at him and wondered what he was doing.

Curiosity killed the cat, Phoebe replies, though the tone of her mental voice indicates that she means that in good humor. And that's what Agent Stevens always tells her in these sorts of situations. It's dangerous for people to know too much about me, she explains just a little bit more seriously, but she certainly doesn't blame him for being curious. It was her own curiosity that started this conversation after all.
Who is James Earl Jones? she suddenly asks, as the name is not at all familiar to her. If there was one thing sorely lacking in her education it was the subject of popular culture. She just didn't have enough time to learn that sort of thing with all the training she'd had to do to make sure she uses her powers just right. Sure, she's picked up some of it since she's able to read people's thoughts, but that's only bits and pieces of other people's experience and hardly enough for her to keep on top of it all.

'I am no cat. I am a-' Lupin started to say before Victor cut him off and said. 'It kills the wolf too.' Then he smiledin a goofy way. 'Alright I won't try to find out.' He then said. Then he heard the voice ask about James Earl Jones. He smiled and tried not to laugh......... He manged to pull it off this time.
'You've lived a sheltered life haven't you?' He asked then after a few seconds to allow the voice to answer. 'He's a big black man who did the voice for Darth Vader in Star Wars. He also did Jack Ryan's boss in Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger. He sounds like Lupin because they both have a really deep voice.' He said immitating Lupin's voice at that last bit.

Phoebe gives a mental giggle at Lupin's objection to her statement, though once again her grin reaches the surface. She really doesn't get much opportunity to have a really casual conversation with anyone. Well, aside from Agent Stevens, but given that she's spent the last seven years able to read the woman's mind that gets old.
His question causes a slight flicker of embarrassment to be felt when she replies, Yeah, I guess you could say that. The embarrassment comes because, while she's actually quite proud of her abilities, like anyone she also just wants to be able to feel normal. And there really isn't very much about her life that is normal. I've never actually seen Star Wars, though I've heard a lot about it. And I think I've heard the names of those other ones before, she admits. So, yeah, sheltered.

Victor grinned slightly and said/thought 'I'm what people would call a nerd. And its a pretty good movie series but the earlier ones were better.' Lupin chuckled some And said something about Victor was going to say it.
Victor looked at a picture on his camera and smiled at it. It was a picture of a mother and a daughter. He always liked seeing things like that. Then he looked at the next picture and saw that it was a picture of two young lovers walking hand in hand. He sighed slightly when he saw it.

Yeah, almost everyone thinks that, she comments, Though I think that I'd like Anakin in the first of the new ones if I watched it. She may have never seen those movies, but given how popular they are she's caught more than a few thoughts about them. And a fellow very young person with powerful abilities? Definitely a character she can identify with. Though she's certain that things will go better for her than they did for him. She works for the government, after all.
But she's easily distracted from that thought when he starts to scan through pictures again, and grins internally at his reaction to the second picture. You need a girlfriend, she notes, sounding amused at that.

'I never really liked him. But I didn't not like him either. I was like that with a few characters. But they were still pretty good.' He said/thought. Then Lupin spoke up. 'He likes other movies as well. He is annoying the way he quotes so many movies.' Victor simply smiled about that. 'I also have the same feeling about the government. I don't like it, but I don't not like it either. If only they were abit more truthful
'Huh what?' Victor asked quickly when he heard the voice say that he needed a girlfriend. 'Great now I have two voices in my head saying that.' He said soberly. 'So is it that obvious?' He asked. He had felt that he needed to be in a relationship for a while. But he was always to shy to do anything about it when he got the chance. He also lost his chance with a girl he was friends when he was in college. But there was abit more to that one then shyness.

Victor's innocent thought about the government causes Phoebe to suddenly frown to herself. She's heard more and more thoughts like that lately. She knows by now that most of the people in Gotham aren't happy with the FBI being here, and that a lot of them think that they're failing. But Agent Tiff and Agent Stevens are both very confident that they can still finish the mission successfully. And she's a bit more inclined to believe the latter - after all, they keep many secrets that the average person in Gotham doesn't know about, such as herself, that will help the mission succeed.
Still, the nagging bit of doubt is still festering in the back of her mind after the Question planted it months ago. And it's that which causes her to innocently ask, What has the government not been truthful about? The young man can't know just how many thoughts he's prompted by saying so, but now she's curious about the details of that statement. And she can tell that he's been pretty honest with her so far and can trust herself to know if he gives an honest answer to that too.
Her mood lifts a little at his reaction to her comment about a girlfriend though. If you want one, then you need one, she says simply. But though she sees the world through the simpler eyes of a child, that doesn't mean that she doesn't know a lot on subjects that most children don't. I'd be your girlfriend, but I'm too young and too busy, she says, allowing her grin to be felt through their mental connection, You have nice thoughts, and a lot of guys don't have nice thoughts even when their words are nice.

'Oh its just that the Government doesn't really tell us much anymore.' Victor said. Then to Lupin he said. 'Warning I'm about to quote another movie.' Then back to the voice. 'I think the covered how the American people feel in the movie National Treasure Book of Secrets. 'We want to trust the Government, but we just can't anymore.' He said very soberly. So soberly in fact that he sounded almost sad.
Then he lightened up. 'Thanks. Your the first girl to hear my thoughts. I'm glad you think I'm nice. I've been told that sometimes I'm living in a different era.' Then he chuckled. 'I always seem a little shy when it comes to getting a girlfriend, no matter how much Lupin helps.'

Phoebe frowns again at his movie quote, not quite sure what to say to that. Or if she should say anything about it. She knows that the government keeps a lot of secrets, herself being one of them and a few others known to her because of her telepathy and tendency to hang around government facilities. But it's all only to protect the citizens. Of course the citizens know that they have secrets, and she can see why that would make them lose trust - while keeping secrets from her is superbly difficult, she absolutely hates it when someone manages to do so. And she knows full well how difficult it is to trust someone who keeps a secret from you - though she's not quite aware that she feels that at a much stronger level than most people - it's why she refuses to talk to anyone if she can't read their minds.
But she decides to keep those thoughts to herself as she listens to what he says next, though there's a brief pause as she considers what she wants to say to that. Did you know that there's about three and a half billion girls on the earth? she asks, before commenting, You'll run out of shy before you run out of girls if you keep trying. And a lot of those girls think it's cute when guys are shy - it makes them feel really special if you're so nervous just to talk to them but are trying so hard anyway.

Victor started to laugh. He only just managed to keep his laughter in his head. 'No I didn't know there were that many.' He said jovially. 'That makes me feel abit better.' Then he looked at the picture again. 'I haven't met her yet though.' He said kindly.
'So do you have a boyfriend?' Lupin asked. 'If its ok that I ask?' Victor smiled he didn't think that he would ever hear Lupin ask someone if they were in a relationship. He guessed that he had been in Victor's body long enough to become a honorary human. He was slightly curious about how she knew so much about relationships. He felt that her being a girl might have something to do with it.

Phoebe grins to herself, because she'd hoped that it would help him feel better - her whole reason for saying so, actually. She's a bit surprised though when Lupin turns the subject around on her, but her response is quick enough to indicate that she's given the matter some thought. Oh, I don't mind, she says first before answering, But no, I don't. And I don't want to worry about that stuff until I'm at least eighteen. Because... well, teenagers all think they can think like adults, but most of them don't until they're that old or even older. And before that having a boyfriend or girlfriend is just practice for a real relationship anyway - and if they don't keep it just practice they usually wish they didn't later. Just not mature enough. Besides, I'm really busy. I'll probably be busy then too, but most people are just happier if they have someone.
But in spite of her distraction with answering Lupin's question, she doesn't miss Victor's speculations. It's because I'm a girl, and I can hear thoughts. And people think about their relationships a lot, she explains. While she may have grown up sheltered, there are certain fundamental human things you can learn even if much of what you've learned comes from the thoughts of various government scientists and such. And whenever she's out in the 'real world', she can't help but have a passing curiosity in what this or that person is thinking. The only difference this time is that she decided to think back - something she does only rarely and really what prompted her to do it this time was the novelty of Victor and Lupin being in the same head.

Victor smiled. He remembered those days of his life. 'I never actually had a girlfriend. There was one girl but I have bad memories about that time. It was also around the time I met Lupin.' He said/thought he then said. 'I will admit that I do think about what it would be like if I did have a girlfriend. But I also think about other things just as much. Especially WWII.' HE said/though with a smile.
'So how long have you been able to do this?' Victor asked as Lupin silently listened. 'Its not often I have three voices in my head. Me and Lupin are usually the only two.' He said/thought with a smile. He wondered if she could tell that he was smiling. He now knew that he could talk to anyone else with a mental connection using his mind. But he didn't know if he could show a smile or grin using his mind.

Phoebe listens but doesn't really know what to say about the girl from Victor's past. She may know a lot about relationships, but she doesn't know anything and his thoughts on the subject aren't very specific anyway. Though the comment on WWII prompts something. Hitler was a very bad guy, she says very seriously, since that's really her automatic thought when it comes to WWII.
When he asks her about herself, she pauses a bit, but that's probably a harmless enough question. Since I was a baby. I've heard that when I was very little I was very picky about who I wanted to be around - they think it's 'cause I could read their thoughts and didn't like the way some people think, she explains. She's actually still pretty picky about that, but unlike when she was really little she's actually able to have some more direct say about who she's around. And I can kind of tell if you're smiling without looking. I can tell if you're smiling on purpose, or you're stopping yourself from smiling, or if you want me to know that you're smiling - that's even easier. And if you're not doing anything on purpose I can tell if you feel good enough that you're probably smiling, she adds. And obviously she can also sense thoughts that aren't necessarily directed at her.

Victor smiled slightly at the comment that Force made about Hitler. It wasn't the first time he heard that, and he was sure that it wouldn't be the last. He never liked the comment that followed from most people. 'Not meaning to sound rude or mean or anything but. Don't you dare say that the Germans were bad. Yes Hitler was bad but the Germans we simply duped.' He said/thought. It was a topic that hit him hard.
'So you can tell when I'm smiling?' He asked with a grin. 'I didn't know my mind was strong enough. But then again it was probably you having the stronger mind, eh?' He said/thought trying to show that he wasn't angry with her and what she said about Hitler. He wasn't defending him. Just the Germans.
