The Commissioner didn't have much time before five of his officers were upon him. He took this time to try to get through to Ivy one more time even if his words fell on deaf ears. "What is it you exactly want? To make a point that nature always wins? To try and fix our environmental problems? You resort to violence when you won't even try to achieve what you want with a peaceful solution. This is why that you will ultimately fail in your task." The brain-washed officers were dangerously close now. He didn't want to hurt them, he couldn't hurt them. They were still police officers. When the first one tried to grab him he retaliated with a hard punch and then a shove. A hard enough hit to send the officer tumbling from the ground from shock. The next one then tried to grab him. Gordon kneed this man in the chest following up with punching him and then finally shoving him as hard as he could. This sent the second man tumbling to the ground.
He managed to deal with the first two. But now he was panting, he was tired. He only managed to deal with two of the men coming his way to remove him. "Pay attention to history Ivy. Those who ignore history are damned to repeat it. You're trying to remove all those who will hurt nature? A prime example of someone who tried to accomplish an impossible task with just violence? A few names come to mind. I won't name them because I believe you're different. If you only used your abilities for something other than acts of violence. If you talked to the right people you could move towards the right direction of getting what you want." He knew that she would never listen to him. Not like this. He had to find a way to prove that he meant what he said. That she could trust him.
The attacks against the first two officers just bought time at best. The other three were closing in, now with the other two that had gotten up from the ground.
Two grabbed Gordon at once. He said what he had to. So he didn't fight it anymore. They were rough, but they didn't cause any permanent harm. He kept his mouth shut while he was escorted to the exit of the green house. He was thrown out. Shoved out of the exit, several officers rushing to his aid. Gordon held up a hand to signal them to stop.
"No. Don't get too close." He managed to pull himself up, walking back to the perimeter that had been previously established.
"Raise your weapons, only use them for defense. Where's my sergeant?" He asked, Sergeant Cox approached him after hearing he was requested.
"Yes sir?" The man asked the commissioner what was needed of him right away.
"Ivy was caught by Batman or another member of the bat-family once before if I recall correctly. Make a call back to PD. Find every file on Poison Ivy and have them brought to me ASAP. This is a matter of extreme importance." Gordon grabbed his shoulder holster, putting it back on.
If Ivy wanted a fight. She would get a fight.

It probably doesn't surprise the Commissioner at all when his words are flat out ignored by both Poison Ivy and the men she sent after him. What probably would surprise him is that he's wrong - Poison Ivy did try non-violent methods. First she tried the standard, legal methods of attempting to achieve her goals - fundraising for the rainforest, a public awareness campaign - she was, after all, the multi-millionaire heiress Pamela Isley several years ago. And what were the results of those efforts? At best, apathy. At worst, some greedy bastard managing to use her efforts to enrich himself.
But it hadn't ended there - she'd recognized that, while the laws of the land are far from adequate, they weren't being followed. Perhaps the system could be fixed? And then improved? So as her ability to manipulate men was as of yet unknown, she used to her influence to try to do just that. And what did she find? You wouldn't believe just how many in the government and big business are willing to do anything for wealth and power - too many for her to control. And if you put something in their way, they simply weasel their way around it.
Know what's actually effective? Killing people. For example, she didn't have to kill that many directors of the Gotham City Environment Department before it was clear to anyone that you don't hold that position unless you actually intend to do your best to care for the environment or your life will be forfeit. Of course, just because the woman now in that position is doing her best instead of sitting around collecting bribes doesn't mean that it's especially effective when the money is simply being handed to someone else, but it's an improvement.
And a sign that if she's going to actually get the results that she wants, she's going to have to think outside of the box of society. Looking back at those efforts, Poison Ivy can only laugh at her own stupidity - she used to be so human in the way that she thought. But she's learned better - she's grown since then - and looks upon the world with different eyes. Now her eyes only see a weak man trying feebly into manipulating her by playing upon emotions that she no longer has.
Even before the five men finish getting rid of him, she's turned her attention to the plants - feeling what they can sense as far as her reach extends. Which is a very long way, though it gets quite patchy outside of Robinson Park - they're in the middle of a giant city, where plants are few and far between. But she doesn't sense much change in the positioning of the men outside of the gardens, even when the Commissioner rejoins them. That can only mean one thing: they're waiting for something. What, she has no idea, but if they think that she's just going to sit back and do nothing while they wait they're wrong. But what to do first?
Her attention turns to the men she caught, who are now looking to her with almost expectant expressions - what would she like them to do? She knows just the thing! "All of you still have your guns?" she asks, and they respond by pulling out their weapons - all except for one who must have lost his while he was trying to fight off the vines that caught him. But the female officer still has hers, so that's a problem easily solved. Once they're all armed, she gives the group their orders. "I want you to leave the greenhouse and charge the line of officers positioned near the front entrance. Keep your weapons holstered until you're close, and then open fire. See how many of them you can kill - don't let anything stop you. Whoever gets the most kills will be my favorite," she tells them, ending that with a smile. Given their current state of mind, that's more than enough motivation. They immediately head for the entrance, eager to do as she said.
Not that Poison Ivy actually cares about their fate. She's already too busy considering her next move to even bother to watch the results.

Gordon and his officers noticed the five men charging them. Gordon knew that Ivy was up to something. He already saw for himself what she was able to do to these men. Gordon didn't waste a single moment. He pointed at the charging officers. "Poison Ivy did something to those men. Look at them. They aren't themselves. Now we can't kill them. But all patrol officers have a taser for a reason. Use it now. Do what I say or else more people will get harmed." There were a good amount of Patrol officers that had a taser. Some of them had a confused look in their eyes but they would follow the Commissioner to hell and back. Most of them anyway. The taser was put at the second lowest setting just so if the same officer was hit more than once than it would prevent nerve damage or perhaps something even worse. The officers that were with Gordon knew what they were doing though. So once the five officers that were somehow brainwashed by Ivy were close enough they used their tasers. Gordon was right, Ivy was up to something. Most of the officers with him noticed when a few of the charging ones managed to draw their gun. Two even got a shot off. The wounded officer from the attack was being tended to.
While the five officers that attacked were disarmed and cuffed. The taser idea working just good enough to incapacitate them. Maybe it would even knock them out of Ivy's spell. But that much wasn't known.
At least the five officers that Ivy took over were out of the picture. There wasn't saying what she would come up with next. A few moments passed, another patrol car finally arriving. One of the officers from the car ran up to the Commissioner with a file. The file had belonged to Poison Ivy. Or at least it detailed her past adventures as well as he weaknesses. If she had any of course. Gordon read over it as quickly as he could without going too fast. "It says here that Nightwing brought her in once before. She was tied up and her legs were covered with ice when we found her. It was documented that the ice or cold slowed her down considerably." Gordon closed the file, staring at the green house. He had know idea what she would try next but he wouldn't be able to combat her for long. He had to move fast.
He pulled out his phone from his trench coat and dialed the personal number of the chief of the fire department.
"Yes, Chief? this is Commissioner Gordon. I need you to send a truck and a team to the botanical gardens right now." Gordon listened to the Chief reluctantly agree.
Gordon then moved to where Captain Aldritch had been held.
"How would you like to help clean up your mess?" Gordon asked, staring at Captain Aldritch with a steely determination.
"I'll do anything sir."

The men she so carelessly threw back are hardly on Poison Ivy's mind. Later she'll simply note that, whatever happened with them, it didn't really effect the distribution of men surrounding the gardens very much. And that will be the end of it. For her, anyway - the police, on the other hand, will find that their five comrades are in a highly altered state. The cause is a severely acute and highly sophisticated fungal infection of the brain stem - one that's completely immune to all known anti-fungal agents. It's left them almost completely unable to speak, and when they do it's only about what's on their mind - which is now limited to carrying out Poison Ivy's orders, or possibly returning to her if they're unable to do so. She is, after all, everything that is beautiful and perfect and they want nothing more than to please her. And if they're prevented, their systems will gradually flooded with amatoxins produced by the fungus, causing death within two weeks.
But instead of worrying about them, Poison Ivy is considering her next move. She feels fairly safe in the greenhouse, as the vines are quite capable defenders. But the police are remaining out of their range, and going on the offensive would be difficult with so many that are so well armed and the simple fact that most plants are rooted to the ground while her enemy can move. Yet she wants to go on the offensive - she wants them to pay for what they've done. Especially the man who gave the orders. And the quicker she can figure out what to do, the better - she doesn't imagine that the police are idle.
Ah, but can she not use that to her advantage? The very fact that they haven't left yet is an indication that they have not intention of allowing her to stay in the greenhouse, which means that they're coming up with a way to come in after her. Well, then, she'll just have to be ready to welcome them properly, won't she? She already has the vines, of course, but she'd imagine that they'd believe charging in en masse would be effective. Fortunately, she has a few more tricks up her sleeve, and she begins placing seeds in the ground near the borders of the greenhouse. And those seeds seemingly do nothing when placed, but that's because they're entirely underground. She uses such plants to protect her hideout, actually - one of the reasons why it's remained undiscovered is because it's not conspicuously surrounded by lush greenery. But the plants hide underground, able to detect what's going on above them. If suitable prey passes over their long root system, the ground would seem to open up, just large enough to swallow them whole, before closing over them. Decomposing animals make very good fertilizer, after all.
Once the traps are set, anyone coming near the greenhouse, trying to dodge her vines, are more likely than not to be attacked from below as well. Satisfied with that for the moment, some movement out of the corner of her eye attracts her attention. Ah, the female officer - currently bound and gagged by a pair of vines - attempting fruitlessly to struggle free. "Now, what shall I do with you?" she asks as she approaches the woman - the question clearly rhetorical since the person she's talking to wouldn't be able to reply even if she wanted to. She's sure that there must be some use for her.

Gordon constantly stared at the greenhouse where Ivy was making her stand. He wanted to stop her, he had to stop her. The officers that she affected earlier were being looked at by EMTs now. He hoped that they would be able to help them. He hoped to whatever higher power that might be out there, that his officers could be saved. They were good men. They had families. They didn't deserve to die like this. It was apparent that what Ivy had used probably would kill them eventually. What Captain Aldritch did endangered the lives of every officer here. Now in Gotham city the police had the highest death rates out of every other city in the United States. Why would anyone would to be a police officer in this damned city? Was it to become a hero? Was it to make some sort of point? Whatever it was for it was an extremely dangerous job. Those who took it on were commended for their bravery but was that enough? Dying from some strange plant related cause wasn't a good death.
So Gordon had a plan. Maybe it wasn't the best plan, but he hoped it would at least a little bit. Ivy seemed to be angry enough where it would cloud her judgment where otherwise she might see whatever he came up with coming. Or perhaps not. He wanted to do everything in his power to let the present GCPD officers go home tonight. He had to save them, it was his job. If there was a swat officer still in the green house alive. He had to do everything to try and get to them. Even if they weren't alive. He had to treat it like they were. It wasn't long before the fire department arrived with two trucks. The chief himself approached Gordon with a look of confusion on his face. "Alright Gordon, I'm here. What is that you need?"
Gordon furrowed his brow and pointed at a corner that was in the shadows. "I want your men at two points. Now I know there is only one fire hydrant here but there also happens to be a fire suppression system that is hooked up to the cities water supply. This way both trucks can be hooked up to water. I want your men with their hoses ready, just out of view so Ivy can't see them. We're going to do our best to lure her out. You're then going to hit her with the water and just hope that its cold enough to slow her down. Then my guys rush her with cuffs. Now it isn't the best plan but its all we have to work with right now."
The chief looked at Gordon with confusion in his eyes, but it seemed to be a solid enough plan.
Gordon would wait for the hoses to be set up, then he would set his plan in action.

Unless actual miracles exist, the only higher power that can do anything for the men is Poison Ivy herself - she designed their infection that way. She can't have her loyal henchmen turn traitor on her, after all. For a woman normally unable to trust there are few better assurances of safety than complete and total control. In fact, the reason why only she could save them is not because she designed a cure but because she's the only one who knows how she got them into that state in the first place and she happens to have the expertise to know how to reverse it.
Of course, she has absolutely no reason to do so at the moment, and in fact they're the last thing on her mind. Instead she considers the lady that she spared from that fate. It actually takes her several moments, because there's so many options, but eventually she says, "Ah, I know..." Leaning forward, she kisses the female officer, who struggles as hard as she can - she saw what happened to the other officers, after all. But what she doesn't know is that the rogue knows how to cause many effects, and the one she picked for this officer is quite different.
Having taken care of that detail, and seeing that whatever the police are up to, they've yet to attack, she turns her attention to other things. Because she can finally sense something different happening outside of the greenhouse. Exactly what is harder for her to determine. Based on the complaints of the nearest plants, two large vehicles have arrived with several people. Now what are they up to? Their arrival has prompted much movement.
Giving the situation a moment of thought, she signals for some movement of her own - the vines, still ready to attack anyone who dares come near enough, reposition themselves to create a hollow at their base that Poison Ivy can just fit in. Whatever they're up to, she suspects that they'll attempt whatever it is that they're going to attempt shortly, so she ought to position herself where she would be safest - surrounded by her vines. Let them come - she's ready.

It was now time for Commissioner Gordon to put his plan in action. This would most definitely be a long shot. Captain Aldritch would partially be used as bait, however his full name would not be given to Ivy. All forms of identification have been taken from his uniform. Gordon and the rest of GCPD judged the position from before, they couldn't get too close. If they did Ivy could send out her plants and her vines to try and take the Captain into the greenhouse. This idea was extremely risky, of course. The Commissioner did cover all of his bases. Officers had their weapons at the ready, not to fire at Ivy but to shoot down any plants that would be used to attack the Captain or the Commissioner. Gordon didn't want to harm plants to get to Ivy. He will not unless he is absolutely forced. Of course he would never set a greenhouse on fire to achieve his goal. He would never put others in danger to achieve his goal. Captain Aldritch agreed to help trying to fix his mess. He wasn't forced, that was the most important thing. At the end of this fiasco he would lose his badge, maybe even serve a stint in prison. At least he tried to fix his mess by helping commissioner Gordon.
"There is another officer in there. I want two of the sharp-shooters outfitted with non lethal solutions just in-case Ivy decides to send the officer out. We will not play into her hand. There is most likely a wealth of traps in that green-house. If this plan doesn't work, it might buy us some time." Gordon relayed over the radio. His hands were tied. This plan was all he had right now. If Ivy wasn't willing to try and to cooperate, then well at least the Captain was at a range that the plants that would be sent after him would be most likely dealt with. Getting her out into the open would be the hardest part. If the Commissioner could make a play on her anger. Her emotion. That could at least give the Firemen a chance to hit her with the water. This would be an extremely important moment. This would determine whether Gordon could take his Officers home or whether more Officers would be harmed.
Gordon stepped forward, approaching the Green House a little closer than where his men were set up.
"I'm ready to negotiate if you are, Ivy. What you did to those men can't be fixed by regular methods. I do not want the rest of my men and women officers to suffer a similar fate. These police officers didn't sign up to be set on fire. They didn't sign up to die from a fungal infection. They don't teach this sort of stuff in the Academy. I know you can understand what the plants feel. They didn't ask to be harmed. We can try this one more time if you're willing." He spoke on the megaphone that he used before. This way she would hear him. The fire-fighters that manned the hoses only needed her to be at the very entrance of the Greenhouse. The hose had a far enough reach. Although that would still be a challenge to lure her to that point.
But they had to try.

Is Poison Ivy willing to try negotiation again? Not really. She has one simple demand and the Commissioner already knows what it is. Since he's clearly not willing to give it to her, there's nothing to discuss. Especially since she's extremely suspicious about them. Even if she didn't know that something just arrived, she'd be suspicious - men are always up to something. So while the very idea that they might have figured out a way to defeat her is completely laughable, it's still a good idea to exercise caution. Even the strongest can fall prey to the weakest if they're caught by surprise.
So she fails to respond to his words, letting her silence do the talking. She's at an advantage in this situation if they come to her, and she knows this, so she also remains put - she's more likely to assume that he's attempting to flush her out than to actually be genuine in his offer to negotiate again anyway. Besides, what was he expecting? For her to empathize with him? If Dr. Arkham couldn't get her to do that, what makes the Commissioner thing that he can?

The commissioner could clearly see that this wasn't going to work. At least he had a few things going in his favor. He had the firetrucks that would be ready on all ends if she decided to emerge. It was clear to him that Ivy was preparing for an attack. For the commissioner, rushing the Green House wasn't an option. So for now Commissioner Gordon would wait. He would stop trying to lure out Ivy. He would have every sit at a position away from the Green House and maybe Ivy might want to talk things out. At that point he could get her with the water from the fire-hydrants. Or perhaps not. The move that Gordon would not make is walking into a death-trap. All he had right now is to wait it out. Gordon was sure that Ivy could wait as long as him, probably even longer. He hoped though that the longer he stalled the more his plan could come further along.
The commissioner already had a second part to the plan with the firetrucks. He just wasn't sure if he should use it quite yet. The GCPD and the Fire Department can't wait at the botanical gardens forever but they can at least take their time. The sure thing is that if GCPD charged Ivy inside of the Green House that it would be sending the all to their likely death. This meant Gordon had to take his time.
He was alright with that.
So the Commissioner began to wait Ivy out with the rest of the GCPD.

As time passes and the plants report very little movement on the side of the police officers, gradually Poison Ivy comes to realize that they're now in a bit of a standoff. And here she thought that they'd had a plan! No, actually their plan is most likely more defensive in nature, so they're waiting for her to attack. Ridiculous! Don't they know that she's more of a defensive specialist herself? Not that she can't go on the attack, and not that her attack can't be devastating, but since her first thought is defense that means that she won't attack until she's fully confident in her position. By waiting for her to attack first, they've only given her all the time in which to prepare.
And prepare she has, and not simply because of the traps that she's laid for them if they attempt to approach the greenhouse. She only has to wait a little bit longer before she begins to sense that her attack is nearly ready - and sooner than expected. Well, that's decent greenhouse soil for you - one of the reasons why she likes these botanical gardens is that those in charge of it actually know what they're doing somewhat. "Whenever you're ready, darling - your friends out there don't seem to be in a hurry," she says to her new ally.
An ally that has changed considerably. After Poison Ivy's kiss, the female officer found herself surrounded and encased by a simply massive amount of vegetation. But rather than trapping her, it's as if the plants have become a part of her - obeying the motions she wants of them. Of course, Poison Ivy's kiss drastically changed what she wants - not unlike the other officers, but not exactly the same either. The others weren't given control of what amounts to a thirty foot tall, headless body - apelike in shape and proportion, and protected by a skin of thick, tree-like bark. The only gap in this covering is a small oval around where the navel of this creature would be if it were human, just the right size and shape for the woman's face so that she can breathe. The other officers weren't placed under the direct mental influence of Poison Ivy, but then again she hadn't cared how well they would do at their assigned task. This time she does, so she wants to supervise.
Nourished by the fertile soil within the greenhouse and the water from the fire suppression system, it doesn't take the large mass too much longer to achieve completion. And then there's a loud creaking sound, not that unlike a thick tree makes when it's put under strain, as the massive plant shifts into a sitting position. And then it stands, just barely fitting within the greenhouse. "Do tell them that I said hello," Poison Ivy remarks with a smile. Having no head, the creature is unable to reply, and the woman embedded in its torso - effectively functioning at its brain - makes no comment either. Instead it turns toward the entrance of the greenhouse, where the vines covering the windows hastily move out of the way so that they may remain unharmed when it bursts through the wall of the greenhouse. It doesn't stop there, though - it proceeds to immediately charge the line of cops, swinging its massive arms as weapons to knock aside anything that tries to get in its way.

"What the hell?" The tone of Commissioner James Gordon was a very surprised one. What hell had Ivy unleashed on the GCPD? He knew he had to come up with a plan fast. The monstrosity wasn't extremely quick but it wasn't exactly dead slow either. "Our officer is most likely in the middle! Concentrate your fire on the limbs!. If you can target the legs then do so." The gigantic monster had a layer of fairly thick bark surrounding it. Almost like a thick armor. However GCPD sharpshooters had high caliber rifles. Weapons that pierce the hardest metals. This will be able to slow it down, the idea to immobilize completely. The commissioner knew though that he wouldn't be able to combat this giant plant creature monster thing with just riot gear and standardized equipment that was made available to the GCPD.
"Sir, if I may suggest something?" A young GCPD officer approached the Commissioner. Gordon nodded, he would most likely have to move himself and his men out of the way. Gordon could spare a moment to hear out the young officer though. Maybe he had an idea that could help go against Ivy. Against this plant monster that she released on the GCPD. Something had to be done. Or else Gordon would have to leave, or perhaps worse. Even give up that officer. He couldn't do that. He had to fight back. He had to prove that the GCPD could handle someone like Ivy the right way. "Go ahead." Gordon tried to put on a smile, even if it wouldn't be as genuine as he might want it to be.
"Sir... I read about Metropolis having this unit. This Special Crimes Unit. They deal with Metahumans and the like. I know you've been talking to Lex Luthor lately, so maybe you could call in back up?" The idea hit Gordon fairly hard. It was a very good idea. He could call in back up from metropolis. He had no idea what the MSCU could bring to the table for a battle against a metahuman with plant powers. He had no choice though, he had to risk it. If he managed to take down this creature then he might be able to get Poison Ivy. It had been a long night so far. It wouldn't hurt to try something like this. "You're right. Go to Lieutenant Marsters at the edge of the perimeter. Tell him to contact the Metropolis PD right away." The officer didn't even reply back, he ran all the way to Lieutenant Marsters. Once he reached the Lieutenant he was panting. The Lieutenant raising an eyebrow. "You alright, kid?"
"Commissioner said to put out a request for help to the Metropolis SCU."
Lieutenant Marsters nodded, moving to contact Metropolis right away. "This is the GCPD, We need immediate assistance at the Wayne Botanical gardens in Gotham. Is your SCU available?"

If the monstrosity had a head, no doubt it would have bellowed in rage at the assault of gunfire. Nevertheless, it's not unlike a tree in the way that it endures the bullets. Low caliber rounds are practically useless - sometimes piercing but not doing much actual damage to the tough fibers its made out of. High caliber rounds are far more effective, but even then it takes more than a few good hits to cause appreciable damage to the thick limbs - and that's if the hits are spaced close together. Something that's difficult to do when the target is moving, especially if the one firing wasn't prepared to see something like this today. Now would be a very good time for a machine gun...
It's slowed somewhat, but not stopped as it moves forward, headed straight for the line of cops. Fortunately for them, it's slow enough that even those who have been indulging too many donuts can just keep ahead of it if they try hard enough, but all that it would take is a slight stumble for it to catch up. To make matters worse, thanks to the officer embedded inside of it, the creature moves intelligently - noticing and reacting to those trying to sneak around behind it. Once it's initial charge is finished and it runs out of officers that are still close enough to have a reasonable possibility of reaching them, it abruptly turns its attention to the location of the nearest sharpshooter, using the direction the bullets are coming from as its guide as it turns and charges.
Meanwhile, Poison Ivy is keeping her attention on the bigger picture. Not needing to control the monstrosity directly, she simply keeps tabs on it, giving it the occasional direction with her thoughts - it doesn't have the ability to connect to the other plants around it and use what each of them sense to get a picture of what's going on everywhere in the gardens and much of the park beyond but she does. But she's specifically attempting to keep track of what the reaction of the police are - besides the ones running to keep out of its way - as she doesn't imagine that they're idle, though it's hard for her to determine what their response will be.

The GCPD definitely have their hands full with this beast. This monster that was unleashed by poison ivy was no joke. However, now that the Metropolis SCU had agreed to help out with the situation, all the GCPD had to do now was defend their position the very best they could. The Metropolis SCU didn't waste a second before agreeing, they already knew what was going on. The event was already on live television. Even if the true nature of the incident wasn't shown to the public. There would be a time where Gordon would no longer have the final say on what he was doing. A huge monster like that? Well that could be seen as a threat to national security. However the media hasn't captured the true nature of what was really going on. All they know is that the GCPD has its hands full. The whole nation knows that now. If it goes on too long without a solution the FBI will get involved, and perhaps even the national guard. If all that fails, the army. For now, the GCPD had to do their very best. It was good for them that Metropolis PD was on the way with a specialized squad, prepared for battling against meta-humans.
A hail of gun fire was directed at the giant beast. Every sniper around the perimeter has focused their shots on the legs of the beast. While most of them were very good shots, they had a rather difficult time grouping them together. Commissioner Gordon already had his hands tied. He called for help from Metropolis. He would also most likely have to call in the national guard. Their weapons might have a better chance. They could also work with the Metropolis SCU. The national guard could get here much faster, there being a base in Gotham city already. So that's what Commissioner Gordon did, pulling his phone from his pocket once more he dialed for the Major Kapowski, the man in charge of the National Guard barracks in Gotham City.
"Major, I assume you've seen the news. I won't lie, the situation is dire. I need you and your troops to help out on this one." Gordon was very frank with the major. He needed help, he should have called earlier. He just never thought it would get this out of hand. He should have known better. Now that he has a chance, he will ask for help.
"Yes, Commissioner I saw. We're already preparing. We will be there extremely soon. Do not lose any ground. Do the best you can to hold your position."
"Yes Major, We'll do our best."
"Be safe, Commissioner." With that the conversation ended. The much better equipped and trained National Guard would be on the way. They weren't the real solution for Ivy. Commissioner Gordon just had to buy time.

Though it's difficult to determine at first, given how quickly the monstrosity is to turn this way and that, after some time of observation it's possible to determine the overall strategy to its motions - it's attempting to disorganize and disperse the officers surrounding the area - or at least those positioned near the southern fence of the botanical gardens. And it's quite effective at that activity. How many times does a giant tree monster have to chase an officer before they fall back? That number depends on the officer in question - some are made of sturdier stuff than others - but with the seeming ability to sense anyone around it no matter where they might hide, running is the only option. Well, that or getting slammed into by one of the giant upper limbs.
Inside the greenhouse, Poison Ivy is becoming impatient. This is taking too much time! But she knows what to do - the longer that she remains in place, the more likely that they are to attempt to show her man's supposed superiority over nature. Well, she's prepared to show them just the opposite if they want to take things that far. She made her demand perfectly clear. And she's hardly forcing them to fight her - instead they seem to be blaming her for defending both herself and her plants. But if they want this fight to go even further then she's prepared to show them her worst.
With a sense of determination, she leaves the seeming safety of the enclosing vines. Still within the greenhouse, she shouldn't have to worry about any sharpshooters. Especially with her creation no doubt grabbing all of their attention - she probably seems to be so very, very unimportant right now. Approaching the door of the greenhouse but not exposing herself just yet, she gives one more instruction to the monstrosity outside.
Turning aside from chasing down the latest officer to get too close, it suddenly charges toward the southern wall of the botanical gardens. Though it's tall enough to cross over the barrier easily, it smashes into the cinderblock barrier, not needing more than a moment to reduce a large section of it to rubble. When the task is completed, it turns back to the officers - attempting to smash any of them who believed that its momentary bout of destruction was a good opportunity to strike.

The monstrosity was a very, big problem for the officers of the GCPD. All of which didn't know how to fight such a large monster that wasn't even of this world. Ivy was a metahuman. The result of an experiment gone wrong, or something. She wasn't happy. That meant that the GCPD wouldn't be happy. For as long as this stand off took place. Now the Swat teams and the uniformed officers had their hands full with this giant monster. They fired their weapons at it, the small arms fire didn't do a whole lot of damage to the giant tree monster. It was still very giant, and still very dangerous. The GCPD however, were relieved of sorts when the national guard finally arrived. They came in force, several trained soldiers with assault rifles and grenades. They even sent machine gun mounted humvees and a APC.
The APC and the machine gun mounted humvees took aim at the giant beasts bark legs.
All of which open fired on the giant monster. "Remember to focus on the legs!" The commissioner thought necessary to remind his officers and the national guard. It was only a matter of time until the monstrosity was seriously wounded. Even if there was an officer in there. Whoever it was, couldn't be reached. They were already dead or protected by the thick bark that made up the monster. This was clearly Ivy's battleground. For now she made the rules. The GCPD and the National guard were now together in their crusade to take Ivy down. The situation escalated far too much in to little time. Soon, another group would arrive to aid the GCPD and the National Guard. The Metropolis special crimes unit. Even if this was a losing battle for the GCPD currently, they would fight till the end. Gordon would fight until the end. It would have to be clear before he could make a decision. One like giving up a fellow officer. Captain Aldritch would die. Without question. He might even be tortured.
Gordon couldn't do. Everything he believed in would be thrown away. Sacrificing one to save everyone else? Giving into what Poison Ivy wanted? Letting her murder someone else? Even after she murdered others? No, he couldn't do it. That wasn't him. However he was no longer in charge. Major Harris of the National Guard was. If the Mayor ordered Aldritch be given up, he most likely would be. It was no longer in Gordon's hands for the most part. Even if for now, he still was kind of in control of the situation. If it got worse then it already is? Then Captain Aldritch might be traded. Ivy might not be fatigued, but the GCPD is. The National guard stepped into help, then the Metropolis SCU will join. Their tech even more advanced than the national guards.
No matter if Poison Ivy was a meta human. She would have to work for her victory.
