"Proof that she set the room on fire? No, no I don't." Gordon replied, it was clear even to him that she didn't set the room on fire. However it is on camera that she entered the room, as well as looking through evidence. Every moment was captured including during the fire. The cameras weren't knocked out, in fact data analysts were now going through to see if they could catch anyone throwing the object that set the room on fire. "I don't need proof of that however, I have footage of her being in the building. Even though I can't necessarily connect her presence with the fire I can cross reference every cop in all of Gotham, even the United States. Even if she's extremely well hidden there is one detail that is damning. She impersonated a police officer. That alone is enough for me to keep her here. I also have audio of her speaking of why she was here. I'm sorry, but your client is in a lot of trouble." Gordon spoke confidently, he knew that there was no way the lawyer could set her free. Not yet. Even if he couldn't get anything to stick he knew that he could keep her as long as he wanted.
That would give him time to figure out who the real mastermind was. He knew that if someone was willing to go through what they were to set the evidence room of the GCPD headquarters. He knew that they'd do anything to set this woman free. He'd have to have her under guard for 24/7. He'd have to make copies of the footage. This wasn't Commissioner Gordon's first rodeo. He knew how to be a cop. He was going to try his very best to figure out who this mystery woman was working for. He knew the tricks the lawyer would try to use. All he'd have to do is pull his punches and it wouldn't be long until the lawyer would have to leave. Even if he did find a miraculous way to free his client, she'd still have to stay for twenty-four hours. It was police procedure that anyone under suspicion can be held for twenty-four hours.
They'd just have to see if they could bring up actual charges.

The lawyer listened to Gordon's words, but then he got a text. The lawyer read it and stood up putting the phone back in the pocket "Don't say anything in my absence, I'll return in twenty-four hours" Lara nodded and the lawyer left.
It wasn't the first time that Lara got caught by the police and all of this was just an acting scene for her and the lawyer. She wasn't going to be imprisoned, they would set her free in someway or another. It meant in an illegal way, like entering in the Police Headquarters using brute force for example. Or she was going to set her free, even though that possibility was difficult to achieve. Lara looked at the wall in front of her "Cuffs don't work with me, it's a pity that I can't just leave the room, there are too many agents on the other side she thought.
What was going to happen now? They were going to take her fingerprints or they would keep interrogating her? Well, they couldn't do it without the lawyer though "I could try another run when they take me to the cells... she thought. For the fingerprints, it wasn't a problem, they weren't going to take her real fingerprints, for them it looked like real fingerprints without any problem, but Lara had fake fingerprints applied over hers, it wasn't visible though.
Lara waited, thinking of what to do now.

Gordon moved to stand up. A pair of CSI's entered the room after the lawyer left. They took a cotton-swab along with a few small bags and the supplies to take finger prints. "Please stay still." One of them requested. While the first CSI took her fingerprints the other CSI took a few strands of her real hair as well as a swab of her saliva. This would provide them with her DNA. That would be put in the system just in case she managed another escape. This was all procedure now. They had to take every precaution to make sure that if she somehow managed the miracle of escape that they could find her again. When the Crime Lab members finished they put what they gathered in their kit and left.
"Send in an officer to put the cuffs back on her while you're leaving." The CSI's nodded. After they walked out the door, two officers walked in and had the woman put her hands behind her back and stand up as she was cuffed again. Gordon walked out of the interrogation room and allowed the two officers take her out of the room. "We're going next door to take a few pictures." Gordon said before leading her to the room next door. The very room where they took line-up photos. This would conclude this woman being fully processed and then added to the system. Even if he didn't have a name. They would be able to recognize her. "You're looking for a way to get out of this. There isn't one. So your cooperation now would be key. Step inside of the room and then follow instructions." Two officers followed her inside of the room.
The door locked behind them. All weapons were taken from the two officers so she didn't have a chance to take one. The handcuff keys were also removed. Commissioner Gordon was taking ever precaution to make sure she couldn't escape. Even if she somehow managed that. It wouldn't be his fault.
The two officers stood next to the door, out of her way while the photographer prepared to take photos.
"Please step forward."

Lara here wasn't the villain, she didn't work for the evil side, but for the American army. Even though, it wasn't official and she couldn't talk about it. However, it seemed that she was the evil part in this situation and it wasn't a pleasant feeling. She was feeling like one of those villains who got caught and it wasn't fair because she wasn't one of them.
They took her fingerprints and the computer gave a match after giving it the imput "Commissioner! We have a match: Faith Phield" the info in the computer screen was clear: Lara, ehm, Faith was just a civilian, but civilians could start making bad decisions. Faith Phield was the second identity that the American army gave to her for situation like this one.
Even pictures. Again, feeling like one of those villains wasn't nice "You can take off those cuffs, take them off and put them around one of those officers' neck and then..." her head was starting daydreaming, so to speak. But, no. She wasn't going to hurt police officers or other innocent people.
Lara took a step forward ready to take the picture. In the meanwhile, the lawyer came back "Commissioner Gordon" the lawyer called him. The General had given specific orders and the lawyer was carrying them out "We must speak in private" he said to the Commissioner. The General said that Gordon was a trustworthy person and that they could tell him about Faith and her job.

Gordon nodded at the lawyer as the photographer team finished their job. "We can speak. But I must make sure she gets locked up back in her cell first. Understand that it is just procedure." Gordon commented as he motioned towards the door. The two officers that were with her in the line-up room took her outside and started escorting her back to her cell. Gordon followed. He didn't comment about her name being found. He wasn't sure if he should believe that or not. It seemed that this woman was involved in something quite large. Something big enough where it was almost above the Commissioners paygrade. But not quite. The Commissioner still had to do what was right. And until he knew more. The right thing to do was to keep her locked up. He followed the two officers as she was put back into her cell. Handcuffs removed and locked back in. Officers watching her just incase she got crafty enough to try and escape.
Gordon then motioned at the Lawyer to follow him. He walked back up to his office, taking a seat behind his desk while leaning forward with his hands cupped on the desk.
"You have my attention."

Lara let the officers take her into the cell, she massaged her wrists when they uncuffed her. Lara sighed and sat on the bed, well, it couldn't be called bed, but it had that function in the cell. She looked at the officers who were standing by her cells, she couldn't escape even if she wanted to...of course she didn't want to stay here, but she didn't even want to make a mess, an arrest was already a mess by its own "The General must be so pissed off" she thought with a sigh. The wig wasn't on her head anymore, but the colored lens were still on her eyes so she still had brown eyes instead of blue, not that it mattered now, because it didn't.
The lawyer followed Gordon into his office "I hope this conversation is not being recorded and if it is then I hope you'll have the presence of mind to delete it the lawyer informed, what he hoped was collaboration because he could take care of the problem himself if necessary "The woman you just arrested is an agent, she works for an unofficial army group" he got to the point "It's unofficial so if you wanted to check then you wouldn't find anything" this wasn't so convincing, if there were no proofs then how could the Commissioner believe him?
"The army couldn't let the vigilantes do all the work, those...villains...criminals...are a real issue and the army has decided to put a stop to it, that's why the army needs unofficials groups and agents" he tried to explain "I'm telling you this instead of just getting the agent out because the General believes that you are trustworthy with this information..." the lawyer sighed "...I sincerely hope that he's right" yes, the lawyer was aware that he just revealed that the General was a man, but that was what the General wanted "Now, if you want I can put you in contact with him right now so you can have a confirmation of what I'm saying if you don't believe me" Lara didn't work for the bad side "The only problem in this scenario is that we can't free Lara with official orders seen that she works for the army unofficially and you can't free her" this seemed a dilemma but the army already knew what do to, it wasn't the first time "Do you want to speak with the General, Commissioner Gordon?" the lawyer asked again putting the accent on Commissioner for a reason.

Gordon listened to the lawyer that was representing this mysterious woman that had a hand in the evidence room being set on fire. It had turned out that this situation was rather sensitive. This woman was an agent of some sort. That was part of what, black ops? Something that wasn't even recorded by the government. The fact that her lawyer was confiding in Gordon was interesting. This meant that her people trusted him to a degree. The question is why these people would set an entire evidence room in a major east-coast city on fire if they truly had the best interests for their country in mind. It was confusing but Gordon would never begin and try to understand the logic of special forces in the military. He was a cop, and even if he was the commissioner it was a bit above his pay grade.
So he listened to the lawyer and tried his best to understand. The woman being able to get in unnoticed and her advanced training made sense now. This was high end stuff on the governmental end. This is where it got complicated however. The law made it so Gordon couldn't release her. Even if he could, he wouldn't. She broke the law, and even if it wasn't always that simple. This time it was. He couldn't release her because her reckless acts put lives of GCPD officers in danger. The question is that if her people or even her, herself would put GCPD officers in danger again.
So the least Gordon could do was hear out whatever this 'General' had to say.
"Very well, let me talk to him."

"Good evening, Commissioner Gordon" the General greeted, he had a baritone, a tone used to giving orders, but maybe it wasn't even the General's real voice "I want to warn you that every information about her is being deleted while we are speaking, I'm sorry, but even her real hair colour can put Faith in deathly danger in this City" the General had tools that Gordon couldn't have seen that Gordon was a Commissioner of a city and Mark a military General, chief of a military group with military resources "We are on the same side, Commissioner" Mark didn't seem worried about Lara being held in prison, apparently she was going to find a way out, it seemed that this wasn't her first time.
"The army has decided to being positively active about this...villain issue, so to put it" Mark explained "There are lots and lots of mad people in America, I have the task to take them down and study their technology, something that Batman does too. However, the army and Batman don't work together so well and the army couldn't just stand aside and let those criminals do as the pleased" Mark seemed very serious about this "So, this group was made and it has agents like Faith" the General stopped talking for few seconds "I can understand that you can't let her go, but she isn't the cause of the evidence room's fire, she didn't do it, she wouldn't ever want to put you and your men in danger" and this was true "We are currently working to find out who set the evidence room on fire, trying to kill you and my agent both" because the General was sure that this criminal didn't put the room on fire to burn evidences, but to kill.
"Do you have any questions? Of course I'm sure that you will talk about this group with Batman, he already knows, we are working in his City after all, but please don't divulge of this group existence to anybody, the American army put its trust in you" the General had a very patriotic ton in that sentence "General, this is a mistake, I'm not sure about the Commissioner" the lawyer here was sure that Gordon wasn't trustworthy at all and he was talking about him life if Gordon wasn't even in the same room "We'll see, won't we, Commissioner?" the General just replied. Lara was still in her cell, waiting for the right moment to run away. She was waiting for the signal.

The commissioner sighed and shook his head. "Look, I appreciate you willing to talk to me. And now you're admitting to destroying police property? Whatever your game is I've had enough of it. If you want to convince me that what you and your organization aren't all bad? That the woman locked in my cell isn't the real enemy? How about you prove it without breaking any laws? I have backups of everything. Even your extensive reach can't stop the law. So you prove to me that you're worth trusting. You explain to me what is really going on here and we'll go from there." At this point Gordon was rather angry. He didn't like this whole situation. Too much was getting destroyed. Too many laws were being broken. This organization had the audacity to try and tell him that it was all for the greater good? No. If they want to try to get him on their side then they should start trying the right way.
"I believe that you're deleting my files. Now I'm going to kindly ask you to stop. If you want me to listen to you? Be on your side? Then start doing it the right way. Stop destroying my evidence, stop breaking the law. If you can't accept that simple request for just an hour then get the hell out of my office." Gordon pointed at the door, waiting for a response. He knew he probably wasn't going to hear anything he wanted to hear.
"If you trusted me enough to contact me. Then please respect me enough to stop breaking the law in my presence. Who do you take me for? Some kind of joke? I don't care who you are, what your connections are. You came into my police station. My officers police station. So stop disrespecting me in such a way and tell me why my evidence room burst into flames. You're saying you're not my enemy? Then prove it."

Mark was very calm, a cold tone, he was used to this, it wasn't the first time that he had to deal with someone like the Commissioner "I'm not breaking any laws. Do I have to remind who you are talking to...Commissioner?" Wind was a General "If I'm doing it then it means that I can do it" he said with an obvious tone "If you'll keep my agent prisoner then you are the one who's breaking the law" he hoped he was enough clear about that.
"In fact, I am explaining it to you, oh, and Commissioner, if you talk about this with someone then you'll be arrested. Understood?" it wasn't a threat, it meant that somewhere there was a law that gave the General the power to arrest who talked about the Agency to no authorized personnel. This Agency was serious, it was in the Army after all.
The General didn't say anything about the delating of the files, apparently he had the rights to protect his agents and so he wasn't breaking any laws. However, he wasn't going to explain this to Gordon because the Commissioner here had to learn some discipline. Mark sighed "No, Commissioner, you are not a joke. The Joker should be a joke according to his name, but that joke killed half of my agents last year" Mark was serious and there was a hint of sadness "We are fighting the same battle, Gordon" there was a pause "Faith was after a man, his name is unknown, but he is a hitman and he works solo, she has been after him since he killed one of the agents" Wind explained "Then, she left a trace of her presence in his last crime scene so she went here to take it...you know the rest. I strongly believe that this hitman set the Evidence Room on fire" the General explained to Gordon then added speaking to the lawyer "Tell Faith that she can talk about the mission to the Commissioner so the Police will have something to work with to find the man who set the Evidence Room on fire" the lawyer nodded then the General ended the conversation. The lawyer took the device that looked like a talkie-walkie and looked at Gordon "What do you want to do, Commissioner? Faith can tell you, now" the lawyer waited for Gordon to decide.

The commissioner knew how laws worked, extremely well in fact. Well enough to know that what this general was saying was not how it worked. The army did not have power over police employed by the city. They didn't have the right to give orders to an elected city official. That's never how things worked. He wasn't really sure why this 'General' was speaking such a big game. Coming into his city and ordering Gordon like he was supposed to do everything he was told to, like the General had the cities best interests in mind. However Gordon could sense the fact that whoever this was did have power. Power he did not want stinking up his city. Not like the threats and the false statements about the 'law' the General told to Gordon. Maybe the General didn't know any better. It was clear to Gordon that this was the case.
Gordon didn't understand this General, his motive or his true goal. What Gordon did know however is he did not like dealing with his kind. Those who believe they are above the law never are. Even if this General had power that 'power' was most likely limited to a few areas around the United States, or perhaps not. "Your agent broke the law in my jurisdiction. Hence it is my right as an officer of the law to keep her detained for the charges against her. It does not matter if you're in the army. She's in custody of the Gotham City Police department. That goes above just me, as the police commissioner. Are you going to have all of the police officers arrested for doing their job? The mayor arrested for keeping the laws in place? I'm sorry General but you are misinformed on how laws work. That's just the truth of the matter." Gordon spoke for a minute before pausing. He was completely calm, perhaps in his element. He knew very much about the law and the finite details. He knew what he was doing.
"However, I do not see a reason for us to argue about this. You will get her free one way or another. Your type always gets their way. So I'll have her brought up here right now. So we can chat."
The commissioner picked up the phone on his desk, dialing the number for the holding cell area. "The prisoner detained earlier today, bring her up here now. Remove her bindings as well." Gordon then set down the phone, taking a breath.
"She's on her way up here, without restraints and an escort. This is where I trust you. This is where you show that your people can follow the law. Now I ask you to trust me, and stop with the threats and federal level crimes in my presence."

Lara fell asleep. Yes. Even in this situation. She had learnt long time ago that she should sleep whenever she could because time for sleeping was a rare thing for her. So, the policeman had to wake her up "Oh...what?" Lara looked around, blinking the sleep away "Right, sorry!" Lara followed the policeman into the interrogation room, the lawyer looked her up and down noticing that she just woke up, however it seemed that the lawyer was talking to the Commissioner already.
"This isn't about the Army, you still don't understand? We have permissions and..." the lawyer was saying to Gordon, shaking his head, but Lara glanced at him and the lawyer looked away with an apologetic stare, however he informed her that she could tell the Commissioner about the murderer. Lara really liked Gordon and what he stood for so she was glad to hear that she could talk to him, finally. Lara would have done it from the beginning, but she had to follow orders too.
Lara nodded about the trust "What do you want to know about that guy, Commissioner?" Lara asked rising a brow and she glanced again at the lawyer when Gordon mentioned the threats. Then, she looked back at Gordon "I could start saying the guy's name: John Smith, yeah, a fake name, that's the only name we know, however, he is a murderer, but he is interested in those villains too" that was why she was after him "I think he wants to kill them, anyway, he was wearing a brown raincoat when I saw him, also a hat, he seems bold, I did't see much more of him" Lara sighed, telling Gordon what she knew, but answering questions if he had some.

The Commissioner made a face. He didn't like the situation he was in. He hated it. Though there was nothing he could truly do about that. Part of being a police officer was working with the hand you were dealt. It was more often than naught the Commissioner had to deal with those above him. The Batman and his allies as well as higher branches of the Government. Did that mean they were above the law? No, it didn't. Commissioner Gordon just wanted the courtesy for whoever wanted to work with for them to respect the law. That's all he asked. If they wanted his help, then can't they at least respect his simple wishes? Perhaps it was more complicated than that. He wouldn't really have a way to know. Now he had to focus on the task at hand. No matter how much he didn't like this situation. He had to work with someone that was previously thought the enemy.
"You walk into my station. My jurisdiction. You follow my rules. You got that? If you understand then perhaps we can stop this petty squabbling. You did your job, Counselor. Now let me do mine." He was very blunt with the lawyer. It wasn't personal. It has been one hell of a day. The commissioner already had so much on his plate. It just kept stacking up. He took a deep breath. Using a finger to push up his glasses. His hands were shaking. He was sweaty. It was summer, so it was quite hot outside. Wasn't good weather for a man like the commissioner. Although, any kind of weather could be bad for the aging man.
"A fake name doesn't help. Neither does a description of how he looks with valid camera footage to pick him out. Was it him that scrambled my security? Or was it you? If you didn't delete all the footage, then without a doubt. Your guy would have been picked up. Even if you managed to delete the back ups, and the back ups of the back ups. Though if some of it was untouched. We'd be able to sift through it, maybe find a match. How much time do we have here? Do you have any idea on what he wants to do next?"

"You can go" Lara said to the lawyer who was going to say something not so nice to the Commissioner. The lawyer looked back at Lara shaking his head as of saying that he had to stay, but Lara could actually throw him out if she wanted and she did want so because she had noticed that the Commissioner wasn't feeling very well. The lawyer looked at her for few seconds more then stood up and went out taking his suitcase with him. Lara could do her job, the General had permissions and stuff, but that was difficult to understand because the General wasn't allowed to show documents. So, Lara comprehended Gordon's situation, it wasn't the first time that a situation like this had happened to her after all.
Lara sighed and looked up at Gordon, listening to his words "He wants to kill all the villains, but he doesn't care of the consequences, he doesn't care if he kills some innocents in the process and yes, he did all that, I had just to go and grab the proof that I left at the crime scene" she replied "Checking the video won't help, the guy wears a mask, one of those silicone ones" Lara could actually speak to the Commissioner now that the lawyer wasn't present "He always changes the mask, I know because I tore off a piece of his face when I fought him, that's how I know he is bald, I tore off a piece of his head, the mask of course" that happened the first time that she met him "I think that he changes it though, I'm not sure" she was talking about the face now "Or is that, or there are more men like him working together" and Lara hoped that the man just kept changing the mask because more men working together was a worse option.

"That lawyer of yours sure is something, thinks I don't understand my own job or my place. Paperwork and 'official sanctions' don't mean a damned thing if you don't even begin to play by the rules. This isn't a video game, or a book. This is real life, your people need to understand that, though I think you might. Even if it is a basic understanding." Gordon stated, then taking a moment of silence. A lot of what Lara was saying didn't exactly make sense, but he'd have to do his best to try and understand. As well as doing his best to work with someone that was previously thought as a arsonist, someone that would go to the lengths to hurt others to achieve their goals. However that wasn't the case, or at least Gordon didn't think it was. Not yet, there would still need to be some work done before he could figure out everything about this case.
"I appreciate you trying to help, though what you're telling me won't get us very far. Do you have any solid proof or leads that can help us get started? We can sit in here all day long, with me complaining about your people and your people pushing right back. Or we can get the only thing that matters, real and hard results. If you can remember anything at all that might help, please tell. We don't exactly have a lot of time, and I'm already going out of bounds by trusting an outside source to help solve a high priority case." He paused, then taking a breath. "The evidence room that has proof to thousands of cases can't go up in flames without several people getting alerted. Everything will be a lot worse now, the FBI will most likely get involved. You should see now that, with all the paperwork in the country. Even if the president himself is best friends with your General. Nothing will save you, or me from what is to come. Your willfully ignorant lawyer needs to understand that a whole new can of worms were opened. Its an entire new ballgame now." Gordon noticed himself getting slightly irritated, he did his best to calm down. Sighing heavily, then pressing his glasses back up.
"Well, let's get to work."
