The press conference was over. The investigation would probably be at a halt for now. New information most likely not coming until the next day. This wasn't the only open case that Commissioner Gordon had to deal with right now. He had at least a dozen other cases he was helping with. Not to mention everything else that came along with being the Commissioner of police. To say the least, he was very busy. Though he liked helping his officers. He wanted to save his city. In the end, that's all he ever wanted. He was caught up in his own thought when Officer Bradley spoke up. Another one of his officers told him to 'take it easy'. While she was right, and all the other ones were right. He just couldn't do it.
Commissioner Gordon gave all he had to Gotham City. All he had to the GCPD. All of it. There wasn't a piece left that he didn't give. He was married to the job. Something that cost him his real marriage. With the woman he loved. Even after all that his daughter was still around. Perhaps Officer Bradley right. He was pushing himself too hard. If he didn't, who would? Someone had to. That's just how things were. He was the commissioner. He didn't want this position, nor did he ask for it. He was in the position he was in because of his actions. As a man, as a police officer. You could ask him yourself, he would never admit to being a hero. He was who he was. That was good enough for him. Even if he did get lost in his thoughts way too often.
"Sure thing, Bradley." He said with a smile. He could tell now that he wasn't going to slow down. Not tonight. He felt like he owed it to everyone that died, to bring them justice. He didn't want to quit until the killers were found. So the two GCPD police officers could rest easy. So the civilians that perished could rest, and so their families could get peace of mind. "Good night, Evangelina." Gordon said with a grin. The first time he called her by her first name today. He didn't know how she would react, but he was already walking away.
Over the next 12 hours Commissioner Gordon went over everything he and his detectives figured out. Now it was about 6:16 AM, the next day. His phone rang loudly. The commissioner reaching for his cellular phone on his desk. "Commissioner Gordon, this is Doctor Holmes with Gotham General. I am supposed to inform you that Daryl Jenkins, is now conscious and awake."
The third shooter was alive. Now he could be questioned. "Thank you Doctor." The commissioner said his goodbyes. Pulling himself out of his chair behind his desk he looked to his phone again. He dialed the number for Officer Evangelina Bradley. He didn't know if she was at home, perhaps asleep. But this was just as much her case as it was his. And the detectives. She had a right to be a part of the arrest. If it happened, that is.
He waited for her to pick up.
"Officer Bradley. I hope this is not a bad time. Can you meet me at Gotham General? As soon as possible?"

When the Commissioner seems to agree with her words, Evangelina pauses look at him and her expression turns skeptical. "I may not be a detective, sir, but I usually know when I'm being lied to," she replies, though her manner is amused. She'd didn't think that he'd take her advice to begin with. The next thing he says causes her to pause again, but this time for a different reason. A look of surprise crosses her features, as she had indeed noticed the name he called her. But she recovers from that surprise quickly and smiles as she replies, speaking louder to make up for the growing distance between them, "Take care of yourself, Jim."
Heading her own way, she heads for the police department's gym for a quick but intense workout. She usually prefers to avoid the gym at the actual department - she prefers to avoid anything that might unduly remind her fellow officers that she happens to be a woman, unlike most of them - but it's faster and this evening she knows that she should be careful with her time tonight. Besides, given her present mood, she gives the heavy bag such a beating that she might as well have posted a 'Do Not Disturb' sign. After a quick shower she makes her way home and enjoys her evening.
The next morning she's in bed when her phone goes off. Fortunately it's on her nightstand so she doesn't even have to be fully conscious to answer it. "Hello?" she answers, forcing her voice to not be sleepy, though she immediately gives a silent yawn as she listens to the voice on the other end of the line. "No problem - I'll be there in thirty," she replies, already getting out of bed. Given how long it will take her to drive there that won't give her very much time to get ready, but she's not one to take her time in the morning. It's just a matter of throwing on a uniform, making sure her hair isn't a tangled mess, a bare minimum of makeup, and a breakfast she can grab out of the fridge and eat on the way.
Arriving at the hospital a couple of minutes earlier than she predicted, she heads straight inside and heads toward the room containing their suspect - figuring that she should wait outside of it for the Commissioner if he happens to arrive after her. She doubts that he hasn't beaten her, though - he probably stayed up all night and didn't need to prepare much when he heard their suspect was awake. So she also keeps an eye out for him as she makes her way through the hospital.

Commissioner James Gordon was waiting for Officer Bradley in the Gotham General waiting room, it was finally time to question the third suspect of the shooting at Gotham University. Jim Gordon knew that Daryl Jenkins surviving was huge, and a stroke of luck for the Gotham City Police Department, the man would most likely be reluctant to answer the questions of the police at first, though with some persuading he would more than likely come around. He'd have to know that he'd face life in prison if he took the rap for his two friends, if he made a deal and gave the other two up however, then maybe he'd be able to see the light of day again and not spend the rest of his life in prison. When Officer Bradley approached him, Gordon nodded and waved. "Officer Bradley, glad you make it, now let's head up stairs and question our guy. Detective Young and Detective Davis are already up there" Gordon had a cup of coffee in his hand, one he fetched from a vending machine earlier, it had been a long night for him. Chances are it would be an even longer morning.
The Commissioner led Officer Bradley to the elevator, hit the 4th floor button and started to wait for the elevator to ascend to their destination. "We might get lucky here. Its very possible that Daryl Jenkins will give up the other two shooters, it is also very possible that he will not. We will do this by the book. You'd be surprised at how often a calm interrogation could be considered better than a violent and intense one. We also need to remember that this man was hanging by a thread less than twenty-four hours ago." Gordon thought that Mr. Jenkins probably believed himself to be lucky. Anybody that survived what he did? They wouldn't exactly want to spend the rest of their life in prison if they actually got that lucky. Mr. Jenkins obviously had a lot to live for, whether it was god or sheer luck that pulled him through. Soon enough the elevator opened up to the fourth floor. "Here we ar-"
Gordon was interrupted by four gun-shots, the commissioner quickly re-acted by pulling out his side-arm. "What do you want to bet that came from Jenkins' room?" Gordon started to run towards the loud gun-shots, 100% sure that Officer Bradley was right behind him. When the two arrived at the origin of the gun-shots, it was clear that Jenkins is who they were after. The shooters were most likely the very same offenders that committed the shooting at Gotham University, here to silence Mr. Jenkins. When Commissioner Gordon and Officer Bradley arrived outside of the room they would see another GCPD officer, dead outside the door. Another unidentified man, presumably one of the shooters was clutching a wound from his chest. Detective Davis and Detective Young were then seen sprinting to the room from down the hall.
Soon, another gunshot was heard, followed by a young man bolting out of the room and making a run for it.

Spotting the Commissioner quickly, Evangelina is instantly jealous of the cup of coffee in his hand. She'd been in a big enough hurry to not grab one before she left home, but she's quick to promise herself one as soon as she has a moment. There are certainly more important things to do this morning. "Yes, sir!" Evangelina replies, knowing that their suspect might not talk, but eager to find out.
Walking alongside of him to the elevator, she nods slowly to his words. While she may favor a more intense interrogation generally speaking, even going so far as to preferring one that can't be filmed or seen by a superior, even she recognizes that you can't be quite so intense with someone who is nearly dead already. It's too easy to make the mistake of pushing them to the point of all the way dead - and you can't get much information from a corpse. Once you have the information, then it doesn't matter if they're a corpse, but it wouldn't be wise to create one where there are witnesses.
But she has a fallback for these situations: intimidation. She's good at that. "You want to be good cop, I'll be bad cop?" she asks, joking but only halfway - this is more likely to be a 'play it by ear' situation than it is one where whipping out the old police favorite would be the best move.
Though suddenly the conversation ends and they seem to have been dropped off by the elevator into a firefight. She's quick to pull her own gun, but also quick to hesitate until she's certain that the bullets are not flying in her direction. As a result she's slower to run toward the gunfire than the Commissioner, but she's also young and makes it a point to keep herself in perfect shape, so she's only half a step behind him when he reaches the scene.
There are some people who see a situation, see that they can act, and think nothing of the danger to themselves - they just do it. These people are called heroes. Evangelina is not one of those. But there is another type of person who sees a situation, sees that they can act, notices additionally that the danger to themselves is actually quite small, realizes that if they act they will be seen as a hero, and can do all of this quickly enough that they have not lost their chance to actually do it. Evangelina is one of those. In fact, it would probably be more dangerous for her if she doesn't make a move. And the instant that she sees that the bolting gunman is not looking in her direction, she's right behind him.
Evangelina has brothers - older brothers. Large men who were once tough little boys. The type who wrestle and play football. She always preferred to hang out with them more than the silly little girls who wanted to play tea-party, and she learned a lot from that. She knows how to tackle a man much bigger than herself to the ground without thinking about it, which means that she can do so while concentrating instead on making sure that the arm holding the gun in particular ends up pinned to the ground. Her own gun, meanwhile, ends up resting against his head. Once the proverbial dust settles, she triumphantly announces, "You are under arrest."

Gordon was able to catch up to the enthusiastic Officer Bradley just in time, he was feeling his age. His breathing was a bit heavy, but he still made it. The commissioner took a deep breath, cracking a smile at Officer Bradley. "Real great work, Officer Bradley. Looks like we finally get to put an end to this case, though it was much shorter than some of the others that we've had." He took a moment, looking at the man that caused so much violence and damage. The commissioner didn't have to say anything for this man to know that he was despised by the Commissioner, maybe not hated for hate is a strong word, but despised. His despicable acts didn't win him any admirers, the commissioner of police was among those that would never forgive this young man for what he did. Killing several innocents and two police officers, and for what? No one knew what his motive was quite yet, the other two shooters were dead. Technically by the hands of the now prime suspect of the entire investigation, being cuffed by a patrol officer that was roped into this by Commissioner James Gordon.
Soon, the two detectives showed up, detective davis and detective young. They nodded and smiled at Bradley. "Fine work officer, Bradley. Damn fine work." Detective Davis said, while helping Officer Bradley pull up the suspect. "Would you like to read him his rights, Officer? You sure have earned it. Aspiring above and beyond your initial duties. That is what being a public servant is all about, for some anyway. No matter your past, or your background. No matter who you are on the inside.You did a good thing, not just your job. But a good thing. A good deed that will be remembered by Officer Staley's wife, the mothers and fathers of those victims and all of Gotham city." Gordon didn't want to say too much, but perhaps she would be eligible for a award, perhaps a promotion. However nothing was solid yet, he'd still have to evaluate her and the like. It would most likely be a lengthy process.
While the prime suspect had been captured, there was still a lot left to do. He had to be tied to the first crime, the mass shooting at the university. Probable cause would have to be determined. While the man was caught in the act of one felony, he had to be proved the perpetrator of the others. So while the GCPD could celebrate, their work was far from over.

Even with the man pinned to the ground, the situation is still a bit more volatile than Evangelina would like. The man she's carefully securing is in deep enough trouble that he may very well decide to put his life in severe jeopardy in order to escape. He could even be the type that prefers death over prison - you never know. So she doesn't breathe easy until she's gotten his gun well away from him, cuffed his wrists, and is surrounded by her fellow cops. Then she can consider herself safe and the job done.
Getting back on her feet, she then gets some help dragging the suspect to his feet as well from Detective Davis. She'll let someone else worry about grabbing the suspect's gun from the floor, but the moment he's up she starts giving him a quick pat down - just checking for anything obvious. Naturally they'll check him over more than thoroughly when they bring him in, but it's a good idea to check him now anyway to make sure he isn't carrying anything they ought to take away from him immediately. Even as she does so, she hears the words of her colleagues. Her lips shift into a proud smile, but she simply responds by saying, "I was just doing my job, sir. I was just at the right place at the right time." She would like to say a number of other things instead, but she knows that a healthy dose of faked humility will go a lot further right now than anything else.
Nevertheless, she doesn't pass up the opportunity to read this scumbag his rights. In spite of the fact that she does pretty much any illegal act she feels like doing whenever she's certain that she won't get caught, she doesn't like criminals - at least not the really bad ones. She may not really care about furthering the cause of justice, but she does have a strong 'us vs. them' mentality and a certain loyalty and protectiveness for her fellow officers - not unlike the way gang members feel about each other. He's lucky she didn't think that she could get away with shooting him during their little scuffle - capturing him alive was the better idea.
So when she's finished with her basic check-over, she stands in front of him with a rather cold expression on her face as she says, "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you can't afford an attorney, one will be provided for you. Do you understand your rights?" While her delivery of those words is usually a bit more... casual, the fact that she's in front of her boss causes her to hesitate to use her usual wording. And then there's also the matter of the upcoming legal circus - in such a high profile case, she's not about to give some asshole defense attorney some technicality to quibble over. Better to do everything absolutely by the book. She'll just have to settle for staring him down like a tiger eyeing a piece of meat - because there ain't no rule against that.
