Blinking her teary eyes at her husband’s somewhat harsher tone, Nora lowered her hands from her face slightly and looked up at Victor. He very vehemently blamed that Mister Ferris Boyle for his condition, and it became increasingly clear that Victor would never even tolerate the idea that she had in any way been at fault. Nora was less certain. Certainly, she hadn’t chosen to be sick, but…but…maybe she could have done something.
As Victor’s tone softened, she looked back up into his pale features. He explained that he was well accustomed to it by now. After ten years. Ten years…That was a very long time for any husband to be without his wife. She couldn’t imagine how much he must have missed her. And yet now that they were together again, he couldn’t even touch her or she him.
Having stolen one of her hands from her face, Victor informed her of what he could not live without. It was quite romantic. It caused Nora to smile and squeeze his hand lightly. “I know you’ll find a cure, Victor. After all, you managed to save my life.” Having full confidence in her husband to do just that, Nora covered her mouth with a hand and yawned softly, most of her worries dispelled for the moment.
Yet one did still linger. Nora could read the writing on the wall. And it implied something that…well. Nora just hoped that she was wrong. Victor had not said anything about it either. Perhaps he was not ready to tell her about it. Perhaps she was wrong. But she did know that he was holding something back and that it would nag at her mind while she tried to rest.
“Victor…” she started almost without realizing it, “You don’t have to answer this, but…The Rogues. Are…Are you…?” She lifted her free hand and rested it lightly on top of the one of Victor’s holding her other. Looking up at him, her expression a strange mix of emotions.

Agreeing completely with Nora's logic, Victor simply says, "Mmm." He did cure her, after he'd been told for years by everyone that it was impossible and a lost cause and, while there had been dark moments along the way where he'd almost believed him, with the evidence of that victory right before him his confidence is at an all-time high. "Even if it takes another ten years," he adds, though he hastens to say, "Though I suspect that it will take less time even though it's the more difficult problem. I learned so many things while I was finding the cure for you that will be relevant here as well."
With his mind caught up in such pleasant visions of the future, and having thought that she'd have asked the question before if it was strongly enough on her mind to ask it, when Nora next asks the very question that he'd been the most afraid of, he's taken somewhat by surprise. And though he's rehearsed the answer to it in his mind so many times, reworked it again and again until he believes that there's no better way to tell her, it's not just the surprise that causes him to pause before replying. The other reason is fear. Because all the happy visions in his head a moment ago depend upon how Nora reacts to that answer, and he literally has no idea what he'd have to live for if she's not a part of his life. Not that he'd be the type of person who would kill himself, but all he sees for the rest of his life in such a scenario is emptiness - a void. For a moment he's tempted to take the coward's way out - she did say that he didn't have to answer - but he honestly sees no reason to delay any further.
So he takes a deep breath, and his eyes lower - he knows that he won't be able to bear the looks of disappointment and horror that he's sure will shortly be on her face, but he has to tell her the truth nevertheless. "After Batman exposed Boyle for what he was, that wasn't quite the end of it," he starts, "Boyle is a wealthy man, and this is Gotham - he was able to buy his way out of a prison sentence, avoid so much of the consequences, but no amount of money can fix a ruined reputation. So he was angry with me, and sought to ruin mine. And it wasn't difficult - he had all the evidence of what I'd tried to do to him. In the end I had an impossible choice."
Shaking his head, he acknowledges, "I suppose that the 'right' thing to do would have been to turn myself in, face the punishment for the crime. But I had no money. And nobody believed that I could cure you. Keeping you safely frozen was very expensive, and if I'd been sent to prison nobody would have thought twice about letting you die instead of paying so much to keep you alive - to them you were dead already. And Boyle was ready to have the book thrown at me as well - who would have done the research if I was in prison for decades?" Shaking his head again, it's easy to see the way his face wrinkles in sadness even with his eyes turned downward as he says, "It wasn't really a choice, Nora - I couldn't let you die."
"But that wasn't the last choice," he adds, now wanting to get everything out, "I could hide from the police, but I still had no money. And everything cost so much - keeping you frozen, the suit, the equipment and supplies for the research - everything. Even if someone was willing to hire me, no legitimate job pays that much - I had to get the money and everything else any way I could. Which meant that the police were after me, Batman was after me, sometimes even the Rogues - black market prices, safe places to hide, men to help me, even more money. One step down the slippery slope leading all the way to the bottom."
By this time he's said so much that he finds himself unable to avoid Nora's gaze any longer - no matter how hard it is for him to see how she feels about all of this, he has to see it. So he lifts his eyes back to her face as he says, "But I had to do it all, Nora - any other way and you would be dead now. And I couldn't let that happen - I couldn't!" His own expression is one of intense sorrow. Not that he actually feels any guilt over anything he's done, except in one particular: he knows how much it goes against what such a gentle, loving soul like Nora would have wanted him to do and the last thing that he'd ever want to do is to give her reason to be disappointed by his choices. Well, second-to-last - if he had to choose between disappointing Nora and saving her life, he'd choose to save her every time. And he's essentially made that decision almost everyday for the past ten years.

The moment Victor averted his eyes, Nora knew. Knew for certain. What had been merely only suspicion and conjecture were now transfigured into cold, hard fact. That…her husband had become one of these Gotham Rogues. There were…many emotions. Mixing into an odd wintry storm within her at the news. She did not have long to wait for the forthcoming explanation. He continued with the events after Boyle’s arrest. Nora frowned at the fact that his wealth could buy him out of prison where he rightfully belonged. But…at least his reputation was damaged beyond repair. No longer would he be able to do harm to people like Victor and herself.
Boyle’s vengeance would be to ruin’s Victor’s reputation. He possessed the evidence of Victor’s attempt on his life…assuredly. Nora bit her lip gently as he went on to explain his choice. To protect her in spite of the law. Tears welled up in her eyes, but she managed to keep them at bay despite the profoundly sorrowful expression on Victor’s face. That look was enough to break her heart.
And so Victor became a criminal to save her. To protect her. Nora turned her own eyes down at the blankets of the bed, unable to look at Victor’s sad expression any longer. Certainly, she hadn’t chosen to get sick, but…Victor continued, speaking of…more choices. The expenses for keeping her alive…for his suit so he could…be with her right now. Everything. A fugitive from the law and very recognizable…there was no legitimate job available to him. Their story had been broadcast over the news. Had no one really cared? Had no one…wanted to help them? Part of Nora simply couldn’t believe that. But…there was no helping it now. It had happened that way. For better or worse.
Victor went on. He…said he went on gathering money any way he could. And everything that implied. More criminal than ever before, he was pursued by the police…Batman…and even his fellow Rogues? A slippery slope…Quite. Quite so. Rolling down her cheeks were tears gone unnoticed by the recovering woman. Her expression wasn’t quite sadness. Not quite anything. A dash of horror. A pinch of shock. Her eyes lifted back up to Victor as he finished. On seeing his intensely sorrowful expression, Nora’s eyes widened, and the tears came hot and fast. She covered her mouth with a hand, choking back sobs silently. She…almost felt sick. Her stomach felt twisted into a Gordian knot.
After a long moment, Nora recovered enough of her composure to remove her hand from her mouth, though she still felt a great deal ill. She had averted her eyes from Victor after having seen his terribly sad expression. It pained her to such a great degree. She stared at his gloved hand for a long moment, still processing what she had been told. “Oh Victor…”
Taking his hand in both of hers, Nora lifted her eyes to her husband’s face once more. Her face was terribly remorseful. “I…I need some time. I’m sorry…” Nora gave his hand a squeeze with her own hands and, for a moment, looked as if she were about to say something more before shaking her head. “It…It’s a lot…to take in,” she said finally.
Her eyes searched his face anxiously as she braced herself for a look of hurt or deepening sadness from her dear Victor. She…couldn’t help what would come though. Just as she could not have helped what happened so long ago for Victor. “I’m so sorry…”

It hurts to see Nora in tears, upset by what he's done. In fact the only thing he can do to make it feel any better is to remind himself that he had to do what he did and that hiding it from Nora was never an option. He can do his best to shield her from the hard things of the world - the things that she doesn't deserve to have happen to her - but there's only so much he can do. He recognizes himself as being a man that is unusually gifted in a few areas, and he did something that so many deemed to be an impossibility by curing his wife, but he has his limitations and he can't save her from everything.
But as painful as it is, he's very patient. He knows that it's a lot of Nora to hear and he won't jump to any conclusions about how she feels about it even though it takes her a moment to recover enough to speak, and he won't press her into saying anything. And when she does, he's nothing but understanding about how she's feeling right now. "You have all the time you need," he says softly. But though his expression is still sorrowful, it's no worse because of Nora's immediate reaction - he expected as much. He expected worse, actually.
So when she says that she's sorry, he can't help but say, "I'm the one who should be apologizing to you. You didn't deserve to wake up to this - but it was all I could do to make sure you woke up at all. I thought that perhaps it would be better for you to wake up somewhere else, so that I could quietly disappear from your life after ensuring it, but in the end I thought that it was better for you to decide what you wanted." The raw sorrow of his expression abruptly softens as he adds, "I've never quite understood what you saw in me to begin with - it would be foolish of me to believe that I could guess what you would want now. But I know that it might be too much."
And he's prepared to face whatever decision Nora makes. Or at least, he's as prepared as he can be - he has all the logistical details ready to go, if he needs them, but he knows that one thing he can't really prepare himself for is the emotional impact. Something that he doesn't really want to think about, he knows it would be so hard for him, but if he has to face that for Nora's sake then he will. Her happiness has always been far more important to him than his own.

All Nora could manage was a little nod when Victor said that she would have all the time that she required in order to…make a decision…on how she felt. And…what she was going to do next, she supposed. She really just couldn’t even begin to contemplate the future. She was barely coming to grips with the past! Her apology almost immediately brought forth words from her husband.
Saying that it he who should be apologizing. And…some part of Nora…thought he was right. She couldn’t stand to entertain that thought for even an instant, pushing it away quite vigorously. Yet…she couldn’t say that he shouldn’t apologize. Nora could only listen passively, tears trailing slowly down her face as she looked up into her husband’s unbearably sad eyes. As they soften, so too does Nora’s own shocked expression into something more tender.
Reaching out, Nora delicately strokes the side of the dome protecting her husband’s face not for the first time in an almost instinctual reaction to console him in some small way. “Oh Victor, I saw so much…and still do see some of the man I married. I…just…” Nora paused for a rather long yawn, her grief having exhausted her to quite some degree. “Let me sleep on it…I’ll..let you know just as soon as I wake up.”
Her hand falling from his protected face, Nora settled into the blankets a touch more readily, drawing up the covers to her chin and gazing up at her husband as her eyelids blinked ever so slowly. “Wake me…up in…a few hours…” she mumbled half-intelligibly as sleep began to claim her. Her blue eyes closed and the waking world was almost immediately lost to her.

Given the sheer importance that her answer holds with him, it shouldn't be a surprise that a part of Victor wishes to demand the answer now. But though he's changed in the past ten years, not all of the changes have been bad. He's learned to be extremely patient, at least when he wants to be, and he's especially willing to be patient with Nora. He waited ten years to hear her voice again - what's another day? And he can understand why she needs the time - every time he reflects upon how much has changed since he froze her, he realize that he can't imagine what it must be like to have to cope with all of it at once instead of gradually and one step at a time like he did. So he can give her time - lots of time.
"Yes, rest - I'll try again to be here when you wake up," he says, once again lightly rubbing her cheek. Because he has no intention of waking her up on purpose. She needs the rest, lots of rest, before she'll be back to full strength and he's not going to selfishly let her neglect her recovery. As she settles further into the bed, he helps her shift the covers, then he simply waits with her for awhile, until he knows that she's soundly asleep. And as he waits, he can't help but be flooded with quite a few anxious thoughts about what will happen when she wakes up, but that's probably why he's so quick to leave once the heart monitor's pace indicates deep sleep - he's always been one to throw himself into his work, but that's especially true when he's troubled by something he can do nothing about. In situations like those the best thing is distraction.
As Nora begins waking up, she'd hear two voices - one much less familiar than the other.
"You are impossible! Have I ever failed you, or been wrong about anything?"
"No, this would be the first."
"I could have safely left hours ago, and if I was wrong she's stable and you could have come and gotten me then."
"You're not so easily retrieved."
"I don't resist."
"But that woman is with you, and it's not easy to ensure that we're not followed. Especially here - this is the last place I want Luthor knowing about."
"Well, that's not my fault - I need the protection."
"But that's why you will stay here until she's awake and you confirm that she's well."
Nina gives an aggravated sigh, turning her attention back to Nora. But Victor is right about one thing - her wait, while horribly annoying and unnecessary, is at last nearly over. When Nora opens her eyes, she'd see the doctor standing at her bedside, but looking up at the displays of the devices connected to her. There aren't any more of them than there were before, but that's only because Nina had reassured Victor that the equipment they'd used to keep her stable while she was asleep was no longer necessary a couple hours ago. He'd believed her, at least enough to remove the feeding tube and such - those would be uncomfortable when she woke up - but obviously not enough to let her leave at that point.
But she's quick to notice the opened eyes, though her first reaction to them is to glance over at Victor. "See? I told you," she says, giving a quick roll of her eyes and a shake of her head as she backs up about two paces.
Which is quite necessary for her physical safety, as the instant Victor knows that his wife is awake, he moves from where he was standing by the wall to Nora's side. "Nora!" he says, extreme relief in both is face and his voice, "You've been asleep for three days!" And to judge by his expression he's been worried sick. As is becoming his custom, he holds out his hands to her so that she can take them, though since he's standing he has to bend over slightly to do so.

Snow. Floating down from above. Cold. Where…where was she? Only the clouds above with their snowflakes. A tree grew in her peripheral vision. White as the snow. Tinged with dark green. She…she couldn’t move. More trees formed though Nora was only half aware of them. Snow. A sudden lightness. She was…floating. Her view shifted. Spinning. The gentle tones of a music box. Dancing? In a globe. Snow and trees. And outside? A white face peered in at her. Victor…oh Victor. So sad.
Nora looked away. She couldn’t bear to see him. The cold. So cold. She felt the snowflakes touch her skin. Like feathers. Her legs stung with the cold. Kneeling. In the snow. Nothing but a simple dress to keep her warm. She felt alone. Scared. A howl of an animal. Fearful gasps. Victor. Gone. Replaced by a dense wintry forest. Nora stood up as another howl sounded in the cold winter air. Closer. Run. Run! Snow, thick and deep. Slow. So cold. Eyes on her. Cruel. Snow. Deeper and deeper. Sucking her down. Freezing her inside and out. The stars above. Snowflakes gently falling. Reaching out to the light. Crunches. Footsteps. Pursuit closing in. The light above. Reaching.
Darkness. Buried. Frozen. Cold. So very cold. Alone. Silence. Where…was Victor? Alone. Time…passing. Immeasurably. Cold. Only cold. Forgotten. Drifting…in a black abyss, curled up in a tight ball. Afraid. Alone.
Voices…barely distinguishable. One…higher in pitch than the other. One…distinctly familiar though Nora could not immediately place it. The feeling of intense cold…melting away slowly. Warm…It was warm. The feeling of solitude…less so. They were arguing about something…Nora couldn’t make it out. But as she focused in on the sound of the voices, she felt as though a weight was being lifted from her. Awareness began to take hold.
Her eyes…she could feel them. Heavy and closed. But as the weight lifted, they lightened and fluttered open. A woman. Nora didn’t recognize her. Why was she standing here? Where…where was here? The woman’s reaction to seeing her awake only perplexed Nora more. But she was gone in almost an instantly to be replaced by a quite familiar yet alien face stricken with supreme relief. It came back to her in a rush. Where she was. Why Victor looked that way. And what he had told her just the other day. “V-Victor?” was all Nora could manage in the moment. As he offered her his hands, Nora made to sit up and take them in hers. “Why didn’t you wake me up?” Nora asked rather genuinely, sleep and confusion still addling her mind. “Three days? That’s…that’s…”
While her mind was being rather slow to wake up, Nora could see plainly that he had been worried sick. About…her? She wasn’t quite sure how to even respond. His concern. His love. It touched her heart. Suddenly feeling quite overwhelmed, Nora squeezed his hands lightly and tried to process everything, glancing about the room for a moment before looking back at her husband and offering him a gentle, reassuring smile. “I’m alright, dear. Look!” Nora reached up and pinched her cheek lightly. “See? Awake! I’m sorry to have worried you...”
Nora trailed off as the woman caught her eye again. “But…Ah, who is that? Oh! Pardon me! Who are you?” she corrected herself, feeling slightly ashamed having asked the question as if the woman were not there.

"I tried, you wouldn't wake!" Victor replies, and, seeing her trying to sit up, he's quick to take back one of his hands, leaving her the other one to hang on to while he pushes around the pillows so that they'll support her as she sits up. At the while, he hardly takes takes his eyes off of her, clearly doubly and triply reassuring himself that she shows every sign of being well now after that scare. Though by the time he's finished with the pillows he already looks much reassured.
"Nora..." he says, attempting to say something more, but he's not sure how to say it so he leaves it at just her name. How does he begin to say how afraid he'd been? How relieved he is now? How much the mere thought of losing her now - when he'd thought that he'd saved her, when he'd forever have their last conversation haunting him - had pained him so very deeply? The time between discovering that her sleeping was of a variety more often found in fairy tales and now has been sheer agony. But though he can't say the words, he suspects that she understands - she's always understood him better than anyone. Instead of trying to communicate more with words that would be completely inadequate even if he could find them he places his free hand on her cheek.

Certainly not wanting to intrude at all on any of this, Nina quietly sidesteps until her patient is back within view - Freeze in his suit is rather large and quite opaque. And in direct contrast to him, she's hardly emotional at all - she knew that would happen. Her only relief at the sight of Nora awake is that it's a sign that she might be able to get back to more important business soon, and her main emotions right now are exhaustion and a bit of boredom. In the meantime, she glances at the readings on the monitors again, having to crane her neck a bit to see the monitors with Freeze in the way, but that doesn't matter to her too much - they're not indicating anything to be worried about, and she didn't expect them to.
But in spite of her mood, when Nora's attention shifts to her, she responds with a quick smile. She certainly doesn't blame her patient for all the many things that she could complain about right now - those are all clearly Freeze's fault. "I'm Dr. Nina Stenet - I'm a medical researcher. And I've helped your husband with you a couple times over the past few years, so it's nice to finally be able to meet you properly," she says sincerely, even though she'd much rather be gone by now. She'd offer her hand, but Freeze would have to move a bit in order for her to get near enough to Nora, and she suspects that would be a bit like getting between a mother bear and her cub so she decides to neglect that.
Instead she dispenses with that nicety and simply continues by adding, "You just woke up from what I'd classify as an extraordinary case of acute narcolepsy, but your husband and I were able to find the problem and that shouldn't happen again. How do you feel?" She's not used to having actual patients, let alone meeting them, let alone talking to them, so she hopes that she's not completely flubbing up her bedside manner.

Victor’s immediate and overwhelming concern rendered Nora momentarily unable to focus on anything else. She could see it plain as day. He had been terrified. His relief. His pain. Victor had thought he might lose her. Nora’s thoughts drifted back to their prior conversation. That would have – might have – been their last words. Something that important…She shouldn’t have left it lingering in the air. Her eyes, having fallen down to their held hands, now flicked back up to meet Victor’s eyes as his free hand brushed her cheek. She leaned into it lightly, enjoying his gentle touch despite his gloved hand.
Nina speaking up had the effect of snapping Nora’s attention back to the doctor. She hated to keep Victor waiting for an answer a moment longer, but they did have a guest. She must extend the full amount of courtesy to her. Returning Nina’s smile, Nora had a thought to extend her hand out to her…but Victor took up most of the space at her bedside. She had no inclination to ask him to move. That would be cruel of her.
“Pleased to meet you, Dr. Stenet. I’m Nora Fries,” Nora replied cheerily. Hm…She had helped Victor? Something about Dr. Stenet’s body language implied a certain restlessness. Hazily, she recalled the bits of conversation she had heard while she had been waking up from her fairy-tale-like slumber. It made a bit more sense. Still, Nora was very grateful for her presence regardless of whether it was enforced or not. Nina continued by describing the details of her condition, causing Nora to relax a bit.
“I feel just fine. A bit stiff and groggy, but that’s all. Thank you so much for your help, Dr. Stenet!” Nora said after a moment’s consideration. She looked back to Victor. “I’m sorry to have worried you so.”

As the two women get acquainted, Victor doesn't bother to give Dr. Stenet so much as a glance - it's as if the doctor isn't even present, save for the fact that he remains silent as they talk. Though he, unlike Nora, isn't very concerned about how polite he's being at all, he doesn't mind waiting for Nora to have her conversation. He's quite happy to simply be able to see her awake again, looking no worse for the wear, and feel the movement of her hand in his - or at least as much as his glove allows.
But though he's not participating in their conversation, the doctor's question clearly gets his attention - and when Nora answers that she feels fine, some of the lingering concern leaves his face. She looks fine to him, she says that she's fine, so at least two of the three people in the room agree. Then again, the third person in the room is the expert, and while Victor would prefer to be all things for Nora his forte is definitely in the technological side of science, not the medical.
Something that he's reminded of when Nora attempts to take some of the blame for the situation - of course he can't have any of that! "It wasn't your fault, it was mine!" Victor states, sounding quite upset with himself. He averts his eyes from her slightly, looking ashamed of himself as he adds, "It was a side effect of my treatment - I should have anticipated it." And he's likely already decided that he's never going to forgive himself for it too. Finally shifting his attention to Dr. Stenet, he says, "Is she okay?" Not that he doesn't believe his own eyes or Nora's own self-assessment, but after that scare he'd like an expert opinion. About the same time he asks, he realizes that he's too much in the way for Dr. Stenet to reasonably interact with Nora, so he reluctantly lets her hand go and takes a step back.

If it was up to Nina, she'd simply tell them both that Nora was well and leave - but when she sees Freeze step away from his wife she knows that implies that he expects her to be more thorough. Which makes her sigh inwardly, but she but she figures that she should just get this over with instead of trying to argue - it will probably take a lot less time. Though as she steps over to Nora, she looks at him and comments, "A standard problem of developing any medicine: invent something that cures millions, hundreds die from unexpected side effects. Every medicine is like that, including mine." Which is her way of telling him that he shouldn't be too hard on himself. He probably will anyway, but she's trying.
"Well, since I already know that your vitals are just fine, let me do a quick neurological assessment and I'll get out of your hair," she says almost apologetically when she turns to Nora - as if it was her idea to do it instead of Freeze's. She pauses a beat after saying that, giving him the opportunity to object and say that he wants her to do more if he's going to, but he doesn't so she continues by saying, "I'm going to ask you a few questions and ask you to do a few things - they might seem a bit weird but they'll show me how well all the parts of your brain and nervous system are functioning."
Pausing for a moment she decides to start with, "First can you tell me, in general, where you are and what you're doing here? Can you move and feel things with your toes?" Offering Nora her hands, she also asks, "Can you give both of my hands a good squeeze?"

Victor’s reaction to her apology took Nora aback for a moment. He was quite visibly and audibly upset with himself. Nora felt a sudden rising sense of panic at Victor’s sudden downward spiral into guilt and shame. She tried to reach out to do something to comfort or console him, but by the time Nora had recovered from the shock, he had shifted his attention to the good doctor. Victor released her hand and moved away to allow the doctor access.
Dr. Stenet moved closer, mentioning to Victor that all medicine had some unintended side effects from time to time. A way of telling him he shouldn’t be too hard on himself undoubtedly, but…not a very…good way. For Victor, anyhow. If Nora knew her husband, and she was fairly sure that she still did even after all this time, he’d need a few choice words to set him straight.
But that could wait until they were alone. Nora’s attention shifted to the doctor and smiled as she informed her that she was going to perform a neurological assessment. “Of course,” Nora replied politely. Nora quietly absorbed the information that Nina gave her, waiting patiently for the assessment to begin.
The first question made Nora blank mentally for a moment though. “Uh…Victor…told me…” He had told her the first time that she’d woken up. Only, those memories where a touch foggy. This wasn’t home…this was…It was…oh! “We’re…in north Gotham. By…By the river, right? I’m here to recover from being…unfrozen, I suppose,” Nora replied, feeling a bit nervous about her answers. “I hope that suffices?”
As she finished her verbal reply, she took the good doctor’s hands and gave them the requested squeeze. She looked to Nina with a worried expression, hoping that it was good enough.

Nora is completely right about Dr. Stenet's attempt to make him feel better about what's happened. It's not that it doesn't help him at all to be reminded of such things - because it does - but not very much. After all, he didn't invent a treatment for millions of people, he invented one for his wife - for his indescribably precious Nora. Failure is not an option. And of course he went into this knowing what the odds were against him, but for something so little to have almost taken her...
At the moment, though, he simply stands back and observes while Dr. Stenet conducts her examination. But he's not a passive observer - though his expression fades into something quite neutral, he's watching the interaction between the two women quite closely. A part of the reason why he's so hard on himself is because he's very much a perfectionist and is careful with the details - usually this results in nearly everything going perfectly, but that means that what doesn't go perfectly is that much more difficult for him to accept. But while Dr. Stenet isn't perfect in his eyes, she's acceptable - he couldn't reasonably expect much better from a flawed human being. But that's high praise, coming from him.
But Nora, of course, gets the highest praise - his relatively blank expression turns satisfied at her answer to Dr. Stenet's question. He remembers how hazy and exhausted her mind must have been when he told her where she was, and he's pleased that she can remember. But he'll wait to do anything until the doctor is finished - he does expect her to be thorough, after all.

Painfully aware that she's being watched, Nina tries to put the man behind her out of her mind while she not only listening to the answer that Nora gives her but watches the woman to see how she reacts physically to the attempt to retrieve the memory. Nodding once to confirm that's enough, she comments, "Normally I'd ask you things like the date and who the president is and such, but I don't think those are fair questions in your case." Giving her a slight, sympathetic smile she halfway glances back at Freeze as she adds, "I'd like to suggest that you start paying attention to the news - that should help you get reoriented to the world. In small doses if it seems overwhelming - there's no need to be in a hurry about it." She can only imagine what it must be like to suddenly wake up ten years in the future.
Nodding to herself when Nora squeezes her hands - weak, but not too much so and not favoring one side a lot more than the other - she has a couple more tests. "Good. Now can you show me your tongue? And can you close your eyes and raise your arms straight out in front of you, like... a mummy?" she stumbles over her word choice slightly - she was going to say 'like Superman', but she suddenly can't remember how well known Superman was ten years ago. She's pretty sure the superhero appeared a few years before that, but now she's suddenly not sure and doesn't want to make the mistake of pulling out an unfamiliar reference. Better to use an older one, just to be on the safe side.
Once Nora's successfully completed both, she says, "Thank you. There's no sign of trouble that I can determine." Not even on the microscopic level, other than the more long term healing currently in progress, of course. And that seems to be going along well too. But rather than getting out of the way so that Victor can return to his wife's side as soon as possible, as she suspects is what he'll want now, she stays put and instead turns around to face him as she says, "Now, if you don't mind, I'd like to be on about my day." Though her tone is somewhat pleasant, the polite but firm expression on her face indicates that she expects him to pay attention to her implied request immediately. She's had to work with the man too much lately and knows to what lengths she has to go to get what she wants from him when he'd clearly rather pay attention to his wife - even when the woman was frozen it was often hard to get Victor to pay any attention to what she needed from him if it wasn't directly related to Nora. And she's not going to wait for the happy couple to finish talking before she leaves.
