The theme was black and white; two colors which made Summer's vibrant red hair shine amongst the crowd. The cameras had fortunately faded into the background and the event was beginning to dwindle. The only story left seemed to be watching a majority of Gotham’s elite challenge their liver with ample amounts of wine and spirits. After making her rounds, conducting several interviews and posing for several pictures; it was finally time for Summer to simply relax and enjoy the party. However, it wasn’t that simple for the ambitious redhead. While she adored these high end events and played the part of the pretty news reporter well, there were a plethora of other stories that she had brewing back in her office that she would much rather be pursuing. Summer was much more fascinated with the colorful crime life of Gotham rather than the regal events, charities and fundraisers that she was typically assigned to cover. After briefly snapping at her overweight camera man to stop following her and call himself a taxi, he merely grumbled away and left the young redhead standing alone in the midst of Gotham’s most famous of inhabitants.
While she knew most of them and was able to carry on a decent conversation, it seemed as though her stunning gown was gaining her more male attention than anything else. The former small town girl didn’t mind the attention, however she was convinced that if she accepted every single date she was offered there would be no time left in her hectic schedule for her one true love: reporting. A younger gentleman handed her a full glass of champagne, her eyes locked on his unusually white teeth. She could practically smell that alcohol on his breath and recognized him instantly as the governor’s son. Doing everything in her power to be polite, she practically scowled when he boldly slipped his hand around her waist, asking her what she was doing later that night. Her reporter instincts kicked in instantly; she could always pretend to fall for his lack of charm and possibly learn something about the man that would result in a good story! However, her designated date was still roaming around the hotel somewhere, most likely making a fool of himself. Seeing as he was associated with herself, Summer couldn’t let that continue as she left linking arms with the Governor’s son; that was much too scandalous and there were far too many witnesses about. Trying her best to hide her annoyance, she took a timid sip of the champagne he had offered her and smiled sweetly. “Um, I am so sorry…I would love to stay and chat, but I must find my date…you will have to excuse me.”
Handing him back the elegant glass, she started toward the other side of the room toward the lounge, curious as to where her date had run off too. Summer had feared the worst and expected that he was making a fool of himself somewhere, simply waiting for her to hail them boy and have her take him home. While he was good looking, he only served as her arm candy for the night. Summer actually had high hopes that the aspiring model would go home with another woman tonight and be out of her hair for good. However, the redhead could hear his obnoxious laugh roaring from the lounge, causing her eyes to widen. In an attempt to hide, she turned around instantly in a desperate attempt to avoid her obnoxious (and quite possibly intoxicated) ex. Prepared to strike up a conversation with anyone; she eyed the ballroom hungrily for a target.
