Appearance:
Personality: Lola is very posh and proper with a side of fire when she needs it. She is a woman that is rarely off her balance and always ready for anything. She’s very social and loves to talk when given the opportunity. The crowed she keeps is interesting and she likes to surround herself with the highest of class. Does she think others are below her? To a degree, yes. She was just brought up that way, to believe that the rich were of a higher class, a better class. Lola is a big spender and loves anything that has a large price tag. She will buy feverishly without care whether she really needs it or not. In her mind she deserves it.
She can be polite and sweet when she wants to be, especially if it’s to skip the scale in her favor in a conversation. Anyone that truly knows her would know she is on the level with most, and isn’t afraid to speak her mind. Her sharp tongue and quick wit have been known to get her in trouble. She may accidentally offend someone by simply speaking what comes into her thoughts. Above all when she wants to be she can be brutally honest. When she needs something she can be a snake in the grass.
Even though her motives may be questionable in life, always chasing the next big thing or the next high dollar, she isn’t without a heart. Somewhere inside is a woman that is longing to be loved, just like any other. The reality of the world was that you had to take what came to you, and if what came to you wasn’t good enough you used it until it dried up and then moved on. Somewhere inside she’s still waiting for the right guy to capture her heart, until then she can capture his wallet.
Background: Lola was born in New York into a wealthy family. Her mother hadn’t always seen fame and fortune but she was picked up by a young man named Andrew Marks. Andrew Mark’s came from a rich family with quite a rich history. His father was a doctor and had left him quite a sum for him to live the rest of his life on. Because of this he was able to invest in his own education and eventually he became quite a successful investor. As a side project he played the stock market and took risks whenever he felt that he had a safe enough cushion to do so. Her mother Debbie Marks actually grew up quite poor in the inner city of New York, New York.
Lola was born in New York, but you wouldn’t know it. She lived on the outskirts of all the cities where the wealth was abundant and the crime was near nonexistent. She lived in a large mansion on the north side that sat on 20 acres of land. She grew up in that house; her life was full and happy when she was little. Her parents, or rather her many caretakers were responsible for most of her upbringing. She was taught everything a young proper girl should know. How to eat, sleep, stand, talk, and walk properly. She was taught etiquette until she was about 7 consistently. Whatever she wanted she got, she grew up a very spoiled child but her parents forced her to be polite regardless of what she wanted. Her greatest love was ballet, not only was she good at it but she stayed with it for many years.
Those were happier days, when she was young. As she grew older into her teens her Father began to leave on business more often. At the time she didn’t understand but her mother dipped into a deep depression and began to drink her nights away. When Lola returned from school each day it was the same routine, mother was asleep and Father was off on business. Her nanny’s and butlers were there for her at these times, but the relationships would never quite be the same as her mother and father. The one day her life changed completely was the day her mother became deathly ill. She was much older now about to be graduated. The doctors were never quite sure what plagued her but Lola always thought it was mourning the loss of her life. After the day she found out that Lola had a half-brother named Maxwell, the bastard son of Andrew Marks, she was never the same.
The last thing she could remember her mother saying one her deathbed was in a conversation hey was having about her future education. Lola had aspirations to be something very intelligent and very famous. Her mother’s last words were “What’s the use in being smart if you’re already rich?” The words never left her mind or her heart as he mother passed in front of her. Thing didn’t get better after he mother passed. Her father’s affair with another woman took a toll on his image. Soon investing became very difficult. In an effort to make up for his losses he started to play the stock market quite heavily, and gamble the rest at the casinos. Maxwell had been taken into their home, but there were no more butlers, there was no more staff to cook them dinner. Everything was falling apart in front of them as the money just began to slip away year after year. One night her father wrote his last will and testament and shot himself in his study. The funeral was long and expensive; Lola dealt with most of the proceedings and went to find out what she was left in the will. She never knew why but her Father had left everything to Maxwell, except two villas in Italy which were already rented out and written into her name.
She never danced again. Despite everything that happened she was still determined to start over. There was nothing left for her in New York and she had little desire to continue life with her brother Maxwell. She had a decent sum in the bank account to start a new life somewhere…anywhere. She chose Gotham City…the high life, bright lights big city! She was ready to start her new life and live it in luxury.
Current Associates: None right now.
Current Enemies: None.
Other Relationships: Her Half-Brother Maxwell, but she doesn’t often talk about him.
RP Sample: Lola walked down the northern strip of Gotham City. You could tell she was fresh in town by what she wore. A breath taking long black dress with a ruffle at the bottom that came up close to her thigh in back. Red stilettos graced her feet to match the sequin ruby red string purse that hung over her arm. She was a woman of wealth and taste, and it showed with every confident step she took. The inner city wasn’t frightening to her, in fact it was everything she ever imagined. The bustling people, the loud cars, and Oh the shopping…The shopping.
It was her first night in Gotham City and for now she resided in a hotel until she was able to find a proper home. It would be different from the mansion she was used to, but it was time for a change of everything in her life. Her eyes fixated on a necklace that shined brightly through the display window of a jewelry shop on the corner. A beautiful diamond necklace that she instantly imagined gracing her neck…..Well….A change for almost everything. Controlling her urge to impulsively walk in and buy it she continue down the strip until she reached a corner with a stop light. She stopped and pressed the button impatiently to cross.
Everything in this city was new to her. She made sure she went to a city that she hadn’t heard much about so she could start completely fresh. This way she didn’t know anyone in the city, no one would have heard of her unless they really dug deep and she could have the adventure she desired. As these thoughts ran through her mind her eyes couldn’t help but jump to every light in absolute wonder. She may have been ignorant to the city’s history, but she would have everything she wanted and more soon enough. She had a good feeling about this place.
As she admired the city before her a man rushed up behind her and snatched her purse off her shoulder. She only stumbled for a second on her heels as the chain had snapped and only pulled her a short distance. She gracefully was able to catch and poise herself again. Fury came into her eyes as she watched the brutish thief run off with her money. She assumed she probably should have chased him down or at least yelled after him. Instead she saw a group of thugs across the street she was trying to cross and hurried to them as the sign changed.
Her pace was brisk each heel clicking quickly on the black street until she got to the other side. The three thugs that were talking to each other on the corner stopped to watch her in awe as she stood in front of them boldly. They looked like a brutish bunch, about the same type that would take her purse. A sweet smile came onto he face and she place her hand gently on the first ones shoulder. “Could you go chase down that man for me?” Lola asked in a breathy voice. The thug looked confused at first, looking up to see the man duck into one of the alleyways. “Keep the purse…” Her tone changed as her fingers slipped off his shoulder and turned her expression to cold and serious. She just hoped they beat him senseless.
With a forlorn sigh she began to walk away from the thugs as they ran after the man with her purse. A neon sign caught the glimmer of her eyes as she approached it. The Iceberg Lounge? Sounds like a fancy place. She could use a rest and a good meal, perhaps a cigarette and a dry martini? She took the several steps up toward the building and entered in. Her breath was almost taken away at how luxurious the place was. This was the living she craved, that she needed to be involved in. Walking up to the counter she gave the attendant a sweet smile before he asked her if she had a reservation. “No I don’t…But isn’t there something you can do?” Her lips turned slightly and a pout came over her face as if he was disappointing her.
The man didn’t seem to move from his position on not letting her through the rope. “Sorry Ma’am no Reservation…No entry.” Her eyes traveled about for a moment and her hands wavered at her sides as if she was about to give up and turn away. She caught sight of a plaque on the wall dedicated to a Mr. Oswald Cobblepot. He was important enough to put on the wall…perhaps he was the owner? “Oh…” Her voice turned soft. “That’s a shame…Mr. Cobblepot was so looking forward to seeing me again…I’d hate to have him be disappointed in you..” Her eyes turned back to him looking sorry for him. With that she turned on her heel to leave. “Wait!” the man stammered and unhooked the rope for her. “Ma’am I…I…Think the right table just opened up for you.” Carefully the man unhooked the rope and stood aside for another man to show her the way. Lola gave him a genuinely relieved smile. “Oh thank you…” She exaggerated through her breath and followed the man toward what looked like to be the VIP section.
She was helped into a large booth that was clearly meant for more than one but she took it just fine as it was. The whole place was wonderful, and the people were just her type. Since her purse was stolen she had no money and no way to pay…but that didn’t mean someone else wouldn’t pay for her. Waiting for a waiter to take her order she sat in her booth looking around the large lounge. She wasn’t sure why they had left her so quickly, but it only gave her more time to take in the sight.
